Just a little incomplete.
When I ordered this guide I was expecting to find a detailed guide on every secret in the game from begining to end, however when it finally came I thought it was a little incomplete. The book is very good at what it does, it gives tremendous information about character classes changes, dungeon info (for the most part), and monster data. But there are a few things left out (I still havn't found the section on all the medal locations, maybe I'm missing it?), at some points in the game it says something like "good luck and enjoy the challenges of these dungeons" or "there are five more shards to find and here's a hint for one of them". I understand that this guide was written to preserve the storyline and surprise of the game, but it is a strategy guide... and I want it all. Overall the book is good, but could have been better. I found free walkthroughs on the interet that were more complete.

It's not simply good enough
Indeed, it took me over 100 hours to finish DW7, it was a satisfying game. It was very satisfying, but also frustrating for I got stuck few times here and there. I got really stuck at one point and bought this strategy guide. I expected a full blown walk through with detailed step by step, however, I was left with more frustration because of this strategy guide rather than feeling liberated from the agony of being stuck.

It doesn't have a WHOLE WORLD MAP, which confused me lot of times, and how to reach certain location was just vague. It would've been a much better strategy guide if they simply put a whole map with arrow pointing at every location with their name-I'm not sure if the writer's intention was for the gamers to figure out the rest of the game with only structured guide, so the gamers can have their own share of 'fun' to figure out the way- and I don't think that's 'funny' or 'justified' when we are talking about a game strategy walk through. Information regarding items, weapons, and armors was insufficient. For instance, if you can only get this weapon from an enemy, it doesn't specify which enemy you would have to fight to get it, or though the whole walk through does show where to get certain items from either treasure box or from a certain event, on the weapon/armor list, it doesn't say anything, doesn't specify specific location.

If you are looking for something 'barely' enough to proceed with your games, this might work fairly well, however sometimes, that 'barely enough' isn't enough, really.
I don't know what to say.. unless the price is really reasonable, I wouldn't recommend this strategy guide at all. But again, what are you gonna do when you are really stuck, right? It's a hughes game and I'm sure it might be an impossible job to really create a thorough walk through, however, just basic element and content of any walk through for RPG was missing, thus making it very frustrating. Good Luck.

Dragon Warrior 7 strategy guide
Wonderful!! A great help. it was organized, a step by step success to defeat the Demon Lord and restore the world of all it's lands free of evil. Every aspect of this strategy is in FULL detail. gives great information on the weaponary, armory, Items and special item showing a pictures and plenty of information, gives an entire beastiary (monster) selection as well giving from Hp to capture rate. tells you almost exactly where every last Shard is and where the pedistals are in the temple to use them. a MUST have to know all the information in this great game

For Real Rock/Radio Fans Only
If you're a fan of New York Radio and the music it played in the 60's and 70's, this is the book for you. Richard Neer is very well respected in the city's radio establishment and he still does a great job on WFAN. Neer intertwines his own personal story, that of a struggling young DJ/music director making his way through the jungle of small market and college radio with a history of FM and rock radio. Finally, he reaches his dream of working at WNEW-FM, the Big Apple's famous free form rock station.

The book is slow in the beginning, only interesting if you're a serious radio buff. As the story moves on, it becomes more intriguing and accessible. The drama becomes more human as personalities begin to clash in the high pressure environment of such a popular media outlet. The book may be worthy of a look just for the Scott (Scottso) Muni stories alone.

If you long for the old nostalgic days of radio before it was taken over by Arbitron and rigid format, this is a wonderful book. If you want a more casual history of radio and WNEW's format style, you may want to look elsewhere, or just skip the first 100 pages or so.

For Lovers of FM Radio
Neer's book covers his lifetime in radio - 40 years or so. A good 1/3 of the book deals with FM radio outside the NYC area. Another sizeable hunk covers Neer's college and pre-WNEW FM days. I skimmed about 40% of the book.

The rest was great. Neer tells wonderful stories of Bruce Springsteen calling in to the station in the middle of the night; Chrissie Hynde showing up for a studio interview bombed; etc. It's not a tell-all exactly. Neer describes format and management changes at WNEW which are fascinating. If you grew up in the NYC area and loved Scottso and the Nightbird BUY THIS BOOK. If this isn't your gig... pass.

Good book for anyone interested in rock or FM radio
I enjoyed this book about the history of FM rock radio. I live in the New York metro area and grew up listening to WNEW (Richard Neer's station) and WPLJ (the biggest competitor). So many of the characters (mostly the DJs) were familiar to me. Richard Neer does a good job of intertwining his story with the larger story of the FM radio and rock music industries. He does tell us about many of the people of the industry and sometimes it is a little much to keep track of all. All-in-all recommended for anyone with any interest in rock music or the NYC radio scene.

not for in the car
The CDs only contain Japanese, which makes them frustrating to listen to unless you already have the meanings memorized or if you have the book open in front of you. Definitely not for learning in the car.

Halfway through
If you just want to learn the skin of Japanese like you did in high school Spanish class. This is a good book to start from. However, if you're a serious learner who wants more than just Yamaha, Suzuki and Toyota, you better find other books.
The souls of the Japanese are Katakana and Hiragana. At least from the reading and writing aspects. Forget about those impossible-to-learn Chinese characters in Japanese (for those whose native languages are originated from Romance). If you image to order cousins in a Japanese restaurant with Japanese in the near future, without learning Katakana and Hiragana, your dream will never be realized.
For beginners who may or may not want to know much of Japanese or for those who have some interesting about Japanese but don't want to involve too much, this book, yet, is the one. With help of those CDs recorded by native speakers and easy-to-understand content, it is well designed for Americans to have first contact. The lessons are arranged from easy to hard which won't frustrate you from the very beginning.
Several misspelling and without Katakana and Hiragana, I hardly recommend this book to anybody who wants to learn serious Japanese. However, for those people I mentioned above, it is not a bad book to start with. Sum up and divide by two. I got 3 stars.

Good, but needs more...
This package, or rather the coursebook, needs further instruction for grammar so you can make up your own sentences completely. There is a little chapter at the end on grammar but its not quite enough. However, this almost-perfect set is well worth the money. Enjoy...

Eeep
One of the most successful on-line critics, James Berardinelli is also one of the worst. This tome is every bit as accessible as his anti-art, grammatically incongruous and theoretically un-provocative reviews. Not to completely dog the guy. I'm sure he edits most of his own reviews for his website. Here he seems to have found an editor or two. Compare any one review in the book to the review as it appears on his site. They're still not very special, but at least they make more sense. Strictly for fans.

it's about time
I don't always agree with his likes and dislikes in movies but I admire his writing and arguments/critique. His writing style is simple yet witty and caustic.

If you like movies on DVD. this book is for you.
Roger Ebert is perhaps the most open minded of film critics. He will useually try to give a movie a fair change to impress him when he goes and sees it at the theater. Now for DVDs on the home video market, they have tried to put together the best movies on DVD into one book. Wither they did a good job is up to you. But the list of movies comes from almost every major movie studio; 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, Metro Goldwyn Major, United Artists, Almost all of them are featured in this book. I've even seen a few films listed here that were made on PBS.

The Digital Audio Music List: A Critical Guide to Listening (Computer Music and Digital Audio Series, V. 15)

Not for lovers of quality music
This book should deliver much more than it does, in my opinion. Why would anyone seek out and wish to buy a collection of discontinued music titles, no matter how "good" they sounded when they were avialable in shops ten years ago? And "good", incidentally, in Mr. Ferstler's opinion, means a load of bass and a treble control set to maximum. I was further irritated when Mr Ferstler goes out of his way to discourage people from listening to classical music, implying that CD's limited frequency response somehow impairs the performance. An utter shambles, in my opinion.

An Excellent Reference
This is a book with much to offer just about everyone. It covers a broad range of topics from recording techniques and their effects, speaker/room interactions, and surround sound, to a lengthy listing of excellent recordings (primarily classical, but with a chapter covering pop and jazz as well) and a discussion of the merits of each. Mr. Ferstler presents information that I have found to be accurate and informative, written in an easy-to-read style. The comprehensive indexing makes this a valuable reference.

Highly recommended
Having read and favorably reviewed Howard Ferstler's "Home Theater Companion", I was pretty excited to learn that he had written a new book of CD reviews. The "Digital Audio Music List" is a real delight to the audiophile, and it should be of considerable interest to the ordinary classical music listener as well. (Home theater buffs, meanwhile, will appreciate the detailed treatment of surround-processor effects.) Mr Ferstler's focus is on recording quality, but he also knows a fine performance when he hears one, and the result is a very stimulating and up-to-date selection of the best classical (and jazz and pop) recordings out there. A worry I had when first reading the book was that the recommended CDs would be difficult to find, but this fear was soon put to rest. Although some proved elusive, many were available at amazon.com or, dare I say it, Tower Records and Borders. After a few weeks with the book, I find myself owning and enjoying a variety of splendid recordings I would not otherwise have known about. I'll mention the outstanding organ CDs from Gothic Records, the wonderfully life-like orchestral and choral recordings from Reference Recordings, and the Shostakovich symphonies on the Chandos label.

Please hire an editor next time!
I grew up in Seattle during the Pat O'Day era and really enjoyed a lot of the background stories, but the book was ruined by the massive number of mistakes that even a mediocre editor/proofreader could have fixed. It's really unforgiveable. I would have done the job for free.

So, Who was Louie Louie???
Ahhh the memories, i grew up going to dances put on by Pat O'Day, and attended many of the events in the book. Pat has managed to capture those times to the tee! If you are a native Seattlite and a baby boomer, this book is required reading.

Even more important, if you are a "transplant" as most of my friends are, and continually bewildered by groups of "locals", teary eyed, sing Louie Louie--over and over. Or if you get a scoffing pathetic glance when you shamefully admit that you do not know who Bill Muncey was. Then this book is your life saver, your oasis in the desert of the "newcomer"

Rollicking good time
Written like so many 30-second promos and album sleeve bios stitched together into one long, rollicking good read -- especially for those of us who grew up in the Northwest and benefitted from Pat's boundless energy in entertaining the pubescent masses. This is a wonderful collection of reminiscences by The Man who was there and made it happen. It could be improved only by the addition of an index. Thanks, Pat -- if you've got another one in you, we're ready!

I'm surprised they didn't spell the Title wrong
This text deserves no stars, but because Amazon does not let you put 0 stars, I was forced to give it at least 1.

I use the AP Spanish Barrons book for AP Spanish class, and after just 2 weeks of going through some of the exercises, I have found more mistakes than anything. The book is extremely flawed; it's exercises are much more difficult than any other practice workbook that is out there for AP Spanish: Even fluent Spanish speakers couldn't even understand some of the sections in this book, between the unheard of words and the ambiguous answer choices that are found here.

In one section where students have to correct the sentence, we found more mistakes in the answers given, than the wrong sentences in the examples.

I recommend other books, such as AP Spanish by Jose Diaz or Triangulo are much more realistic and helpful in passing the AP Spanish exam.

Unrealistic and flawed
I have just used this book to teach AP Spanish Language in high school. First of all, this book asks for grammatical knowledge way beyond what the students could possibly know and is much more difficult than the actual AP. In the answer section, the book has frequent errors, and many of the explanations only confuse the students. This might be a good book for college-level students - except they wouldn't be taking the AP exam. I recommend José M. Diaz' "AP Spanish" Preparing for the Language Examination" instead.

Too many typos
This book does contain a very comprehensive review for the exam however it has A LOT of typos and errors in the book. There are mispelled words, and some of the answer choices are incorrect, which can be confusing. If you purchase ths book, make sure your AP teacher or a Spanish speaker can review it and point out some of the errors to you. I would hate for you to get a question wrong because of a spelling mistake you saw in this book. Like I said, it is a good review just be aware that this book is far from perfect.

I expected more!
For those wishing a more comprehensive history on DJ culture, you will be better served by reading "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life". I expected a lot more from this book, although I did like the informal structure of the book as it reads as if the author was having a conversation with a room full of DJs. But it contains so many DJ's that no one has ever heard of...and I get the feeling that the nightclub DJ is not well represented...nor is the music industry itself. The section on record pools is abysmal! After 27 years in the music industry, I may be a little jaded, but I expect a person to at least get it right.

Great Light Reading.
This book is great for picking up between breaks from spinning, or for reading on the way to work on the train while you think about your turntables at home, but it's not an in-depth account of DJing like "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life."
I felt the author was enthusiastic about the music and was knowledgeable of its history, but the "Meet the DJ" sections and the hundreds of quotes sometimes hindered the flow of the mix.
I consider this book a companion to other DJ books.

Beginers Only
I've been spining records for well over 15 years in one of the hardest and most competitive markets in the USA(SF,Ca). It is a good book for the clueless DJ, but I wish there where more profiles of the Pioneering and Independent Blue collar DJ's less on the DJ as part of a band(DJ with a major label contract). And where is the LARRY LEVAN, WALTER GIBBONS, RON HARDY, FRANKIE, TONY, JELLYBEAN and GRANDMASTER FLASH profiles, ommiting these guys is a sin. Also the author should have included a section on the DJ as producer (D.I.T.C. crew). The words of wisdom by Fracios K and David Mancuso are the only redeaming factors of this book. It seems this book has a hidden agenda, promote dj's who are who don't need it. Most of the profiles and quotes are from New Schoolers who were never into music until they took there first "E" (Dj Rap). This book has a good idea but it doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the craft.

Everything but the kitchen sink
"I Left My Back Door Open" is a formulaic, positive self image novel, which seems to attempt to cover every current social issue in a hip progressive way. The protagonist, Dee Dee, comes across as a "Mother Earth" type of character and contends with almost every conceivable issue: incest, bluimia, obseity, foster parents, bi-racial children, sexual harassment, teen sex, adultery, abortion, divorce -- whew! Dee Dee is represented as a font of wisdom as she dispenses advice to all she encounters, is devoid of prejudice, and watches her weight (though eventually reconcils to the positive aspects of being full figured) and contends with the after effects of childhood trauma while searching for Mr. Right.

Besides the plethora of social issues the novel attempts to address, the dialog is rife with cliches and stale wit, and reads like a sit com television show. It all ends on a positive note with Dee Dee finding Mr. Magic and one is left to assume is happy ever after. Yawn. It was work struggling to finish this novel -- I recommend that you spare yourself the effort.

Enjoyable but Predictable
This book isn't going to change your life but if you are looking for a pleasant read, you might just enjoy this latest offering from April Sinclair.

Like the description reads, this is a sometimes witty story about love and relationships told from the point of view of a forty-something African American woman named Dee Dee.

The strength of this novel is the likeability and honesty of the main character. As a reader, one wants Dee Dee to be fulfilled, get the last word, and fall in love (even when she's acting slightly immature or unreasonable.)

Unfortunately, for a novel of this length, Sinclair doesn't really do a good job of tying all the ends together.

Most of her characters are intriguing but they never rise beyond the thumbnail sketches that Sinclair makes of them. With all the drama going on in the book (coming out, divorce, single-parenting, sexual harassment, incest, and problems in the Black community) Sinclair isn't mindfull enough to fully flesh out the dilemas and bring a satisfactory level of closure to the can of worms she's opened.

The most interesting exchanges in the novel take place at Dee Dee's work where we encounter her Chinese friend and co-worker, an older African American security guard who has "quit" being Black, a White male co-worker on the verge of a breakdown, and random callers to her radio show.

In her work setting, Dee Dee is at her best. Unfortunately, once her relationship with a new man takes off, her other relationships seems to struggle for lip service as once important characters pop in and out, serving no real purpose.

This isn't the best book I've read this year but it is an entertaining quick-read. I'd put April Sinclair is the mid-range of modern African American female writers. It's very easy to visualize a book like this one being made into a Alfre Woodard movie.

April Does It Again
Once again April Sinclair has proven to be a good writer. This pleasing book of love and growth as a person lives the reader wanting more.
