Another Fun Romp With Tracy
Tracy's life is in an uproar. Her publisher has just called to say that they are dropping her mystery series unless she drastically changes her latest book, the advance for which has already been spent. The contractor shows up two days early to enlarge her closets. Her husband is panicked because he's starting the biggest case in his legal career that morning. And that's all before her mother, movie star Martha Collins, calls to say she's been arrested for murder. What a way to start a Monday.

To Tracy's frustration, Martha doesn't seem interested in proving her innocence, so, despite promises to the contrary, Tracy begins to investigate. With Uncle Philly along to help, she starts finding connections and clues that lead back 30 years. But what do they all mean? And is Martha really innocent?

As you can probably guess, this book is loads of fun with hilarious goings on all over the place. Tracy's sarcastic narration also adds to the humor level. The plot itself twists every which way. I hadn't read it for a couple years and was just as confused as the first time, even if I did remember the ultimate ending. And the characters are well developed and pull you further into the story.

Anyone looking for a fun, lighthearted mystery need look no further then this series. Buy it today for a romp on the wild and fun side of murder.

Highly recommended!
Tracy Eaton was the author of the "Tessa Graham Mystery Series". At that point in time her house was like a pig sty (due to a small redecoration project), her publisher had a lot of changes to be made to the latest book (to be completed within three days), and her husband was stressed out from trying to make partner in the law firm. When Tracy believed it could get NO worse, her mother called!

Martha Collins had been a Hollywood goddess for what seemed like forever. Yet she still looked wonderful and made people notice her. She found Vince Sperry's body, called the police, and became the number one suspect! No matter how hard Tracy tried to clear her mother of the charges, her mother kept blocking her from doing so. Tracy kept wondering just WHAT was a daughter to do in a time like that and just WHY had she not been an orphan?

***** An excellent "who-dunnit" mystery that kept me guessing right up until the end! Tossed with bits of humor that I could not help but enjoy. This is one I definitely did not want to end! Luckily for me, this is a series of mysteries that began with "Revenge Of The Gypsy Queen" and will continue. I find myself eagerly looking forward to the next mystery in Tracy Eaton's bizarre world! Highly recommended for all mystery fans! *****

Give your bones a laugh
What do you do when your mother is found, alone, with the bloody remains of a corpse and won't tell you or any one else what happened? Dem Bones Revenge, Kris Neri's new hilarious look at murder, mayhem, mystery and parents, mystery writer Tracy Eaton, whose mother, Martha is a famous film star accused of murder, must defend her mother. Never mind that her mother doesn't want to be defended and impedes Tracy's efforts at every turn. Add to that trying to meet a publishing deadline, dealing with a double-dealing editor, a father that can't or won't be found, and decades old scandals and you have a story that is will have you laughing out loud, squealing with delight when you solve the murder, only to turn the page and find out you are wrong and feeling very good that Martha isn't your mother. And the more Tracy digs into the past, the more she realizes that she really doesn't want to do this as she finds herself suspecting everyone from her dad to her own husband. A book that will make you very grateful for your mother's idiosyncrasies, because whatever they are, they can't be this bad.

Another great Bob Barner book
I picked up this book for almost three year old daughter because we loved Bob Barner's Fish Wish. My daughter learned so much about the ocean from that book and I thought Dem Bones would give her an introduction to the body. The book follows an old African folk song called Dem Bones. "The ankle bone is conneced to the foot bone, the foot bone is connected to the leg bone" and so on. Since my daughter is so young I just sing the song to her and point out the bones on her body as we see the corresponding ones on the skeletons in the book. If you have an older child there is much more in depth information about the bones provided on each page. That is why I love Bob barner's books so much. My daughter can follow along the simple to read stories now and when she gets older I can go over the more informative parts with her later. She has already learned a great deal from this book and she really loves it. Bob Barner really makes learning fun.

Dem Bones
As an elementary school librarian, I used this book with my classes. We sang the song as we turned the pages. Then, at the end we laughed about the names of the bones and practiced ways of using the "real" names. 1) Go to the nurse after you skinned your knee on the playground and ask for a bandaid to put on your patella; 2) You stub your toe and grab it and moan, "Oh, I stubbed my phlanges", etc.

Kids from K through 5th grade enjoyed this! Lots of fun.

We love this book!
This book offers a wonderful introduction to the bone structure of the human body, even for very young children (my 3 year old daughter and niece just love this book). The use of fun, bright skeletons appeals to the reader and balances the use of scientific language in the text. Even mom and dad will learn a thing or two while reading it! You'll have your kids singing Dem Bones (the foot bone connected to the ankle bone, etc.) before you know it.

Wow what a wonderful book
Ladies and gentlemen I had the Great Pleasusre of meeting this wonderful author while traveling to St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Island in February 2002. He is a retired federal worker who had travel around the world and had written about 8 books about life in St. Croix. His books could serve as a history of the island and what a wonderful thing for him to do. Many people do not take the time to learn about the history of these islands. However, they could learn a lot if they were to read Mr. Schrader's short book of 40+ pages.

I have enjoyed everything that he has written and hope that he will continue to promote the history of his land and of his people.

Adventures of Tintin: Schritte auf dem Mond (German Edition of Explorers on the Moon)
Published in Paperback by French & European Pubns (2000)

Tintin explores the Mond as his greatest adventure continues
"Schritte auf dem Mond" ("Explorers on the Moon," 1954) picks up right where "Reiseziel Mond" ("Destination Moon") left off, with Tintin and his friends unconscious in a rocket hurtling for the moon and everybody back at the Sprodj Atomic Research Center in Syldavia worried sick about them. No surprise, they wake up and land on the moon. Ultimately, what makes "Schritte auf dem Mond" so fascinating is the documentary detail that Hergé infuses into the story. I cannot think of a 1950s science fiction film that predicts as accurately what happened when Apollo 11 went to the moon a decade and a half later (and I have seen just about all of them). One of the chief charms of Hergé's artwork has always been the way his caricature drawings of Tintin and friends are contrasted by the realistic backgrounds, and this artistic style achieves its apex when we see the spaceship approaching the moon. "Schritte auf dem Mond" would work as a straight-forward first man on the moon type story, but, of course, in Hergé's capable hands it becomes so much more. Taken together with "Reiseziel Mond," this has got to constitute Tintin's greatest adventure. After all, what greater height can our intrepid reporter, Struppi, Captain Haddock, Professor Beinlein, and Schulze and Schultze reach than the Mond?

A Diary of the Terror of Nuclear War
From the cover of the book "Ende": QUOTE Ende - a diary of the third world war. The most powerful argument for nuclear disarmament ever published. Europe, mid-summer. When the Earth is most alive. Yet over the horizon, the war machine is out of control. Then death comes from the sky. A blinding light, a dull crump, the mushroom cloud. One man records the horrors that destroys his family and friends. From his despair there comes a ray of hope for the rest of us. UNQUOTE I guess that it should be no surprise that this book came out of Germany before the break-up of the Soviet Union and the reunification of Germany. I first read this in 1987, and eventually re-read it again in 1998, but the affect was just as compelling, and especially so in today's climate. It describes, in a very effective diary format, the political lead-up to the war, the public reaction to political developments, the war itself, the death, the destruction, the affects of the radiation fall-out, and the personal terror, all from the perspective of a young, married, German journalist. It had a great affect on me and I was stunned. I read the English version translated by Fred Taylor in Corgi Books. This book is not easy to obtain, and not easy to read. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Heiler und ihre Patienten auf dem Dach der Welt : Ladakh aus ethnomedizinischer Sicht

The One and Only
For anyone working on - or interested in - medical anthropological issues of Ladakh, this book must not be missed! A medical dissertation based on fieldwork conducted in a village near Leh in 1985, it focusses on the different types of healers and therapies present in Ladakh, giving special importance to lay views concerning health and sickness, patterns of resort, and social values. It explains the basic premises of Tibetan medicine as practiced in Ladakh, includes life narratives of Amchi and Lhamo/Lhapa (shamans), gives interesting insights into Ladakhi village life, as well as an outline of the methods used in research. To my knowledge it is still the only book dealing with the whole medical spectrum of Ladakh including lay practices/beliefs, monks/rinpoche, shamans, amchi, muslim healers, astrologers, and allopathic doctors. An excellent and well written piece of work, though one has to keep in mind that its purpose is descriptive and not analytical.

Collection of Short Stories-textbook
This book was my first introduction to German literature in college back in 1992. It's a collection of short stories, many of which were written by relatively-unknown writers (with a few exceptions, such as Thomas Mann). As I recall, most is post-1940 literature.

Some of the stories are complex and difficult to understand for people just starting out in German literature, but due to the book's nature, it is a good, CHALLENGING start. The book has footnotes on virtually every page that serves as a quick reference glossary for some terms/phrases in the reading, and there is a decent glossary in the back of the book. There is a question/discussion section at the end of each story that makes this book perfect for classroom use.

The book is NOT set-up as a progression-type reading (i.e., it doesn't start out with easy reading and progress to more advanced reading). Some themes are ADVANCED, so be warned.

This book is probably best suited for college-level students majoring in the language.

This one is a Upbeat Great Read
I work in a Nursery School and the children get pretty antsy around Halloween. This one kept them all quiet and focusing on
the book. They LOVED it- I had to reread it again, and the other classes in our school had me come into their classes and read this story.

Very imaginative and all the words rhyme!! I love books that have a beat and the words rhyme like this.

Enjoy-

WOW!
Fantastic book for ALL ages. I am a teacher of middle school students and I read this book to them, as well as my son's 1st grade class, AS WELL as a 1st grade class in the school at which I teach, AS WELL as my 3 year old son (many times to him I might add!!) They all loved it! It has a fantastic rhythm as well as references to favorite fairy tale characters.

Fun to read!
This book is a halloween treat! I've read it over and over to my 19 month old who absolutly loves this book! The pictures are bright and silly, but most of all its a lot of fun to read! Other family members and friends have read it to her as well and they love the book as much as us! The words are in a sing-songy rhythm - you cant help but bounce around as you read this! I would (and have) recomended this book to everyone I know!
