Having a mid-career crisis? This book is for you!Review Date: 2008-02-10
Great for Professionals in All SectorsReview Date: 2007-10-07
The book was a great resource, taking me step-by-step through the process of revamping my resume and improving my interview skills. I saw immediate results in my search and quickly landed a position that I will surely enjoy.
The book was much more helpful than guides I have used. Notably, it was much more helpful that guides I have used that were specifically geared to nonprofits jobseekers.

Solid, reasonable guidance for a career changeReview Date: 2007-06-18
Written in clear language, this book helped me enormously in a recent change. I found it especially helpful, as I am at the executive level, not at the bottom level. It provides web search assistance (where to look; what to look for), specific guidance on resume building, and even a glossary of words that are more direct and action-oriented than what I might have used otherwise.
No book is going to get a job for you; but this one helps you understand that a search well thought out is a search well done.

Seeing the unseenReview Date: 2008-12-15
Given how well he could explain events from a series of linked observations and how well he was able to teach it, I'm wondering if there is a analog in my profession. Given the same level of observation there is probably far more to learn in what we experience everyday.
This book is a great gift for the hiker, nature lover or professional who likes to learn.

Cardiac HealthReview Date: 2008-10-05
Although I am a registered nurse and have a genuine interest as I have a heart condition, I think that anyone would find this book helpful.
The explanations are easy to understand and the advice is excellent. I have already been following much of what has been suggested but there were other areas that I didn't know about that were very helpful. My cardiologist advised me to read this as I don't want to use conventional medicine unless absolutely necessary, due to the side effects. I am really please with the results since I have followed this regime and so is my cardiologist. The heart is a muscle whose cells need feeding - if not we have inflamation leading to heart attacks and strokes etc
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in living a healthier life.

A Fantastic BookReview Date: 2009-01-05
He writes in a very easy, conversational style. If you have ever wanted to learn history but found acadimic writings to be to boring, then this book is for you.
Best history book covering all history. Asimovs best nonfiction work.Review Date: 2008-12-07
You can read it in small segments by the nightstand, or you can read it cover to cover chapter by chapter and still benefit from it. As a desk reference it is invaluable.
The thing this book did for me that no other history work really achieved was that it gave me a clear understanding of how all of history connects on a timeline and how the whole picture of world history fits together with a perspective that is impossible for me to convey in this review. This is near the top of in my top 20 favorite books.
As far as I'm concerned Asimovs work as a historian rivals his enormous achievents in science fiction, literature and science. I have read this book at least 10 times now and will reread it many more times before I'm history/.
Don't expect to learn history from this bookReview Date: 2008-10-21
The reason I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 is that many of the histories he provides do not have the life that Asimov is usually able to impart to a subject. This may be do to the fact that Asimov is limited to how much he can write on any one time period/culture (the book is already huge). It is more of a reference book than a book that imparts understanding, but Asimov's true gift was his ability to provide understanding of a subject. So I would rather of had book that covered the major periods of history with a bit more depth at the expense of removing some of the lesser periods.

A Roman Centurion, Phonus Bolonus, plots to get a swig of the magic potion and holds Getafix captive in the Roman camp outside the village to have him make some. Asterix joins the druid there and together they take the greedy Roman on a hairy ride.

In this graphic novel series there is great storytelling, superb drawing, awful puns, wonderful sound effects (yes, really), and sneakily, insidiously, while you're laughing, you're learning.
Gauls GetafixReview Date: 2007-01-21
"Asterix the Gaul" was the first Asterix comic, published in 1961. Rene Goscinny made the words and Albert Udzero did the pictures. It's a pretty good way to start the series though the sequel "Asterix and the Golden Sickle" (1962) sets up the vibe the other comics enjoy.

Boot - First Hand Account of a Rookie Cop's First Year On The JobReview Date: 2008-01-23
Dunn's book is by far the most interesting LAPD autobiography that I've read so far. He takes the reader straight inside some of the most dangerous and fascinating streets of Los Angeles.

I've also just completed the book "Gangs of Los Angeles", a candid look into the world of LA street gangs. I've done my best to retell their history and explain their culture in a way only an LA street cop with gang expertise could.

Great Book! Review Date: 2007-08-20
After I purchased this book a co-worker purchased "the other" CWNA book and the rest of my fellow co-workers compared the two and after all the scrutiny they all purchased this one.
If you have ever wanted to become a CWNA or just learn more about wireless technologies this book is definitely for you.
