Bad Medicine!!!
This doctor has nothing but Bad Medicine for your game. If you think you got problems before this book, your gonna have even more after. First you will realize after a while that you just wasted your money :)... Then you will already of lost a few games hoping for something in this book to happen. The reason this is the first review should be a warning sign. Nobody that bought this book wants to admit it and review it. They are hoping someone else will make the same mistake so they can laugh at them. I really don't care if you wanna waste your money go for it. Just ask yourself why a book this old has no reviews yet if its worth getting. That should help you make your decision where to spend your money.

Short for the money, but still useful
This book surprised me. It's really a pretty good book. It consists of 100 pieces of advice, each with at least 1 chess position for amplification.

At least, that was Pandolfini's intent. However, I think that the pages with just words (which accounts for half the total) are TOO wordy and unnecessary. And the headline (the "ailment") for each one makes the solution to the diagrammed position a bit less challenging than it otherwise would be.

But these are minor quibbles. It's easy enough to skip the text. The puzzles are quite interesting if they are at your level. What level? Well, I estimate about 1250-1350, and you absolutely must have read a simple endgame book first. (Pandolfini's Endgame Course is perfect preparation, but anything that covers King + Pawn v. King will do.) And be comfortable with simple tactics as well.

With just that much preparation, you can get a lot out of this book. It will build on your knowledge. For example, if you understand a few fundamental endgame positions, then you'll see why it makes sense to aim for, or avoid, such an ending via trades.

I suggest that you read this book out of order. Start with Section 2, continue through 3 and 4, and finally return to Section 1 on Openings, easily the most advanced part of the book with the longest analyses and most subtle explanations.

On the whole, the book is worth reading. Unfortunately, the price is rather high for only 100 simple puzzles. So look for it used. It's not a bad gift though.

Waste of money
I wanted to learn about Hepatitis B..not what this man ate on a daily basis. Did not find the book helpful at all.

Informative
This book was very informative, not only in answering questions about Hepatitis B but also in describing the various other forms of the Hepatitis virus (A,C,D,& E). The book outlines common questions and answers reqarding Hepatitis B and describes the author's cure which carries a warning and disclaimer regarding the use of the combination of Interferon and Ribavirin (not sold in the US). I found most curious the author's statement on pages 11-12, "I started to pray very hard for God to help me make the best decision. I went with my instincts because that was all that I had left to rely on." If I could ask the author one question, I would ask him this. While he was praying, why didn't he just ask Him..."for healing"? (Isaiah 53:5)

Lacks good information
This book lacks good and solid information on candida and what one can expect as they try to recover from it. The book seemed to be more of a process of trying to bring the bible into healing a serious disease - and the verses used were not very relevant. The author did not do a good job of tying the two together and what is left is a book lacking good serious information for the person serious about treating their candida condition.

Very, very short book - almost pocket sized.
This is a tiny book and although I like the idea of having a positve outlook and including your faith in your illness, I didn't find the book to be helpful with my indigestion.

The Cure: Faith

Still a mystery.....
The Cure's mysterious rise remains more puzzling than ever after this snip'n'paste rummage through the usual gamut of press clippings. With stunning banality, inter-band frictions are reduced to soap-opera absurdity, and Robert Smith's notoriously quixotic working methods are judged almost entirely on whatever PR line the press were fed at the time. There's a terrific Fear And Loathing-style saga to be written about this boozy, chaotic combo, but Faith is just an overwhelmingly partisan fan-study.

Liberalism: Its Cause and Cure: The Poisoning of American Christianity and the Antidote

Disappointing
Jackson in this book speaks of the history of liberalism in the Lutheran church, of which he is a pastor. On one hand Jackson opposes liberalism, evolution, the charismatic heresy, feminism (and I think this is right, but one needs good reasons for asserting this). But on the other hand he provides no argumentation why this would be right, he simply asserts Luther's dogma's. I had expected from a critic of liberal theology that he would refute deism (and such a refutation can be found in Norman Geisler's "Christian Apologetics"). I was also, among others, surprised at his classifying only Lutheranism as conservative, and classifying all other Christian churches (Catholic, Baptist, Reformed...) as liberal (p. 13), I think that it is rather the contrary that is true.

No cure for love : a novel
Published in Unknown Binding by Viking (1995)
Author: Peter Robinson

Collectible price: $25.00

Definitely a Disappointment
An avid reader of Peter Robinson's superb Inspector Banks series, I picked up No Cure for Love with certain expectations with regards to the quality of the book. To say I was disappointed was an understatement.

I was simply unable to finish the book - the plot is weak, the characters one-dimensional and the writing style poor. The story is rather hackneyed and parts of it read like a badly-written romance novel.

While Robinson is clearly writing more of an American detective story rather than his characteristic British procedural series, I found it hard to believe that such a mediocre book could have been written by this author.

The story centres around a British actress, Sarah Broughton, starring on a hit American police series. The TV detective finds herself in a real-life crisis after receiving threatening and explicit letters from a deranged stalker, and the situation rapidly escalates to murder.

While the book is relatively fast-paced, it leaves very little time for character development. This results in extremely clichéd characters that seem to appear straight out of a third-rate American cop show! The dialogue is banal, the prose repetitive, and the story generally unexciting.

Overall, I found No Cure for Love clearly lacking, and a patent departure from Robinson's usual quality of writing.

I'd recommend this book only to die-hard Robinson fans.

Lyme Disease: The Cause, the Cure, the Controversy (Johns Hopkins Health Book)

Detrimental to those in need of treatment! Take caution.
I contracted chronic Lyme disease a year ago and was not diagnosed for ten months. During that time I got worse and worse and not one doctor helped me. In fact they were rude and didn't listen. The over all feeling in the medical community is one of disbelief and hostility. This book is the epitome of those feelings. Reading this book made me feel the same way I did listening to a doctor tell me that the positive test was not significant. This book does nothing more than berate those that are already sick and frightened. It makes you feel as though you are the one with the problem. The disease is all in your head. Also I think I should add that the author of this book was appointed to the Lyme Advisory community for California and then was promptly removed because the people that had Lyme Disease were so angry with his attitude towards them. Beware of this book. It will do nothing other than make you feel bad about a disease that is not your fault. Which leads me to the age old question, Which is worse the cure or the disease? When there are books like this on the market perpetuating the horrible attitude towards truly sick people it is neither. Until this opinion is dispelled, there is no disease and there will be no cure despite how sick you really are.

Information is not helpful; controversy is not explained
This book will only confuse you if you are looking for real answers to the Lyme disease controversy or help for an undiagnosed illness. Barbour does not give you enough information to make informed decisions regarding treatment or diagnosis of an actual entrenched and untreated case of Lyme disease. Your money will be better spent buying books by Denise Lang, Karen Forschner, or Polly Murray.

Like a second opinion doctor who lacks communication skills

Unfortunately Alan Barbour's book has nothing to offer the patient, caretaker or public that the 3 best selling Lyme disease books do. Referring to authors Denise Lang, Polly Murray and Karen Forschner.

For scientific information and hard facts Forschner's book comes out on top over Barbour's.

When reading the book one gets the feeling as when sitting in a doctors office. Not the compassionate family doc, nor the reserved but informative specialist, but rather the second opinion doctor. The one who makes an unsuccessful attempt at not criticizing your primary physcian while proclaiming his own agenda.

Barbour seems to ride the medical fence concerning the controversies of Lyme disease, telling us nothing new, in detail or subtly supporting theories that are not proven, such as Post-Lyme Syndrome. The word "cure" is curious in the book's title.

In conclusion the 258 pages could easily be condensed to about 25 for actual worthwhile information.

Alan Barbour M.D. is an esteemed scientist whom may want to consider confining his literary work to peer-reviewed medical journals.

Zero Stars
I'd have rated this book zero stars. Get ready to wrap yourself in tin foil so that the extra terestrials don't come abduct you for your plutonium content. I found the book worst than useless. There are many better selections on the topic and none worst that I've come across in my search.

Some helpful information, but too much "far out"
This author seems very sincere in her very unconventional beliefs. She shares some good information on viruses and environmental pollution, but she loses credibility as she talks about extraterrestrials who are poisoning our bodies with Plutonium. The helpful information in this book can also be found in many other books that deal with CFIDS and other immune dysfunction illnesses. This book is published by the author.

An alternate to what? These diets don't work............

Miracle cures?
I read and tried a couple of the diets to reduce ailments I experience. No help to me but maybe it'll be different for you. The only "Miracle" from the Diets I experienced was how the weight was Miraculously lost in my wallet.
