A cheap imitation of the real thing
I was extremely disappointed after seeing this book thinking it was the the Arthritis Cure, which was written a year earlier. It's not, only a cheap imitation which appears to try and capatilize on the success of the 1997 book. Even the font used on the cover of Doctor's Cure is a blatent copy. Shame on you!

Healing rejuvenated joints using body's own natural powers.
This book so hot!!! Couldn't put it down until I read it cover to cover! Uses safe, natural non- prescription disease-modifing medication easily available in the nutritional supplement section of most any retail grocery store, down the isle from the aspirin. Because it is safe without any drug interaction whatsoever may use without advise from their doctor, it is that safe. This book provides the resource section with names of organizations who are familar with this supplement who will be of help to you in the healing process of Arthritis. Christian extremism?
I just received the book and was impressed that it did discuss the things you need to know about depression: what the symptoms are, how it is caused, how it is treated, etc. However, I was not prepared for the heavy fundamental Christian emphasis. Personally, I have a problem with saying, "Depression can be caused by Satan." I suspect there are some people who are struggling with mental illness, for whom bringing up Satan as a cause of their problem, does more harm than good. I couldn't believe two medical doctors would write a book with such controversial religious ideas portrayed as accepted medical practice. I threw the book away the same day I received it.

Personal Empowerment!
Simply put, another reviewer's religious [anti-religion?] bias aside, it is refreshing to obtain a medical/psychiatric expert's training & experience encourage personal responsibility and personal empowerment (albeit with the help of God/one's "Higher Power"). People can indeed be free from symptoms of depression, or obtain some relief at least, through what can be termed cognitive-behavioral methods. Minirth's position is supported by research, which finds the use of this treatment in conjunction with medications as the most effective for depression.

Osteoarthritis: Nature's Cure

This book is NOT written by Jason Theodosakis
I am a personal friend of Dr. Theodosakis and not only has he not had any part in writting this book he has NOT EVEN READ IT! You are deceiving the buying public by listing him as the author and I strongly suggest that you correct this error!

Osteoarthritis: Nature's Cure
I almost did not buy this book due to a previous reviewer's remarks. However, since there is little quality information available about alternative treatments for osteoarthritis, I knew I had nothing to lose. What a lucky decision! Karolyn Gazella really presented a wealth of priceless information in a compact, and extremely easy to read book! Ms Gazella melds the expertise of Jason Theodosakis, M.D. concerning the use of glucosamine, in its several forms, with her own hunger to find answers to difficult health questions. I have read other books authored, or co-authored by Ms. Gazella and this one ranks right up there! Karolyn never presents a treatment as a cure-all. She always drives home the fact that any product is a part of a larger whole, and she isn't afraid to tell you what that "whole" is. After all, she speaks from experience.

OK for dog-owners; glaring omissions regarding cats
There is MUCH more info here re: dogs. One glaring omission is re: diarrhea. Over-the-counter medicines for dogs are listed; none listed for cats (ones listed cannot be given to cats; this is stated in the book). This is just one example of the bias in this book towards dogs. Don't waste your money if you own a cat!!

Comprehensive and easy to understand.
This book covers just about anything you'll run across with your cat and/or dog. Each entry is fully explained, and contains separate paragraphs concerning what you action(s) you can take and what your vet will do if consulted. It's a very useful reference.

How this book wrecked my bladder
I am really getting tired of the false information I get due to poor scholarship. I attended a chiropractic school that pushed "drinking lots of water", much like this book is claiming that this is a wonderful cure for disease and good thing to do. After years of doing this I have been informed that my bladder has distended (stretched out) so now I have difficulty fully emptying it. My urologist says that it is not healthy to drink too much water since this is what happens. The cure is to drink less water, only when you are thirsty and it will go back to normal.

If you are thirsty then drink a healthy drink (water, tea, vegetable juice).

So don't waste money on this book or the ignorant chiropractors who recommend it. It will save you a trip to the urologist and problems with your bladder.

Finally, a solution that makes sense... and is affordable!
I was so happy to find this resource. It is a natural remedy for many ailments, most of which I cannot afford to obtain prescription medicines to manage. On the water-salt program I have felt 100% better from my mood to my 'former' joint pain. My allergies seem to be subsiding too. As long as the salt intake balances the increased water I have no side effects. It makes perfect sense... like the life-sustaining saline solution in an emergency room!

Read this if you are a woman manager looking for excuses.
If you are a woman looking for a practical guide to help you be an effective supervisor/manager in today's work world, look someplace else. This book once again puts women in the position of being a victim. Montgomery writes about ways to compensate because we are women, which is to make us victims or to say we are otherwise handicapped and need special considerations. We aren't. And we don't. I was disappointed in Montgomery's book. There are some traits women have accepted as fact down through the years that are not inherent, just learned behavior. I was hoping Montgomery's book would identify some of those traits and talk about how to overcome them, not justify their continued use. I will not recommend this book to anyone. Which is sad because I want to support the efforts any woman makes to get a handle on this issue.

As a non-feminist, I found this book incredibly helpful!
I've been in management for 7 years. This is the first book I've found that offered practical information -- not just surface rhetoric -- about how to manage as a woman. Montgomery doesn't try to fit all women into one box, but instead suggests how to peel off the layers of a situation to get to the real problem. As a woman manager, I'm still in the minority at my office. This book made me feel more empowered. I find myself referring to this book frequently before I react to a situation. I've learned to be more open in managing, and patient in dealing with the daily pressures of a manager. I'd recommend this book to both my female and male colleagues.

Dry, dry, dry
This is strictly a rehash of Pennebaker's (and other's)research. Nothing new here if you've done much reading at all on the topic. Not for the individual looking to use writing in their own life...and not much here for the clinician looking for ways to incorporate writing into your practice.

Best book ever on writing and health
Loved this book. Chapters were engaging and presented the evidence on writing and health in a balanced, rigorous manner. Sweeps away old notions about why writing improves health by presenting provocative new perspectives based on self-theory, emotion regulation, and social-cognitive theory. This is a must-read for scientists or practitioners interested in language, emotional expression, writing and health.

The essential causes are the systemic crises
After reading this book,I don't agree with the opinions of the writer,at least part of them.Through my experience in the Suotheast Asian financial Crises, this cause is only secondary one among numbers of them. Most of the west economic analysers consider that the causes of Asian Financial Crises are Capital Flows. It flew into the vulnerable economic countries and destoried their state economy. But I think that the real causes are rooted in their economic frame system. With rapid economic rate, all Southeast countries didn't care about their domestic economy turn to multi-economic frame. For a long time,Aisan countries depended on export-oriented economic, this made them effcted by the international situation greatly. So,I consider that the Crises' coming is right at its time. This is the accumulation of Asian economic shortcomings. It must come, just for the time. For a assumption: if one country's economic system frame is as well as the West such as USA or the Eurapean countries, how can the Capital flow in and destory its economy? The "Capital Flows"is just an outside reason. The essential causes are the systemic crises.

An excellent author with a tedious book
Dr. Lu has many excellent books available on this subject. This is not the best choice. He has another book by the same title that is absolutely beautiful. The information is presented differently in that book, with more clarity and accessibility. This edition is very cumbersome. It does has some excellent information on treatment therapies for specific Chinese Diagnosis', as well as ingredients to some herbal formulas. The formula that Dr. Lu presents to reach a diagnosis is difficult to understand, his positive/negative number scheme is not easily comprehendable. There are many other books that require less time commitment and concentration to arrive at the same understanding.

thoughful and insightful, very comprehensible
The nine-chapter book is extremely insightful. Although the best chapters are 1,5,and 6. The author's writing style is indepth and well though out. The issue of whether gene therapy is morally ethical becomes repetive.
