There's Hope
Sue Heisler has emerged from a very deep darkness. She never gave up on herself. She searched everywhere for answers; searched with all her heart, and has proved to all of us that there is hope. She tried all the methods, and then went beyond it all into a new place of healing for her soul and spirit. Well done!

Drawing and Coloring for your Life
Susan has drawn her spirit. Drawings with feelings always touch the soul.

To the readers....
This book offers a chance for you, the reader, to become empowered to take control of your life. Sue eloquently and vividly points out that if only one side of a person is treated, then the treatment is not complete. Sue shares how she learned each person is a triad - body, soul, and spirit. To treat one and not the other two is like having only one leg on a three-legged stool; it will soon tip over. Mark Lanyon, MHS, CAAC, Brandywine Counseling Service

A treat to any Cure fan.....
Ever since I became a Cure fan I had always wondered if Robert or any of the other band members had a biography, marking the major turning points of their musical careers.... And I guess that my question has been answered ever since I first heard about this crucial book. It lives up to what everyone has said about it, and I just got it yesterday from my friend Ben actually!(Thanks again! You're a sweetie!!)
What can I really say that hasn't been said already? It starts out in the late 70's, the original band members were in the middle of high school and already showing major signs of music excellence. Robert showed obvious signs of his intrest in music around his 10th grade year, and this book clearly highlights his journey to the top. I personally think it's quite intresting to read about their rise to fame and the obstacles they had to encounter along the way. I don't want to give out any spoilers so you all will just have to find out of yourselves the stories in here (oh yeah, there's a hilarious one that concerns Lol and Billy Idol... I almost fell over laughing!!)
This treasure is full of surprises and just about anything else you won't expect to hear. And, lets not forget the oh so needed eye candy!! It's practically exploding with tons of rare, great pictures... Color and black and white. The cute as hell baby pictures are a perfect ending. I especially love the color on the cover. Just because it says it's "paper-back" does not mean that it's not durable or good-looking. First time I saw it I thought it was a hard back because the front is glossy.
The pages are made out of nice quality paper and it's really thick, so you'll have hours to spend reading it. It's a fairly large book as well, I'd say around the size of a good-sized magazine (the width being roughly 8 1/2 in. and the length being 11 in.). This book is generally hard to come across(if not impossible), so I highly urge any Cure fan who is considering on buying this to second-guess no more.
You WILL NOT find any and I mean ANY other Cure book that will be more on the mark than this one. Take it from me and millions of Cure fans alike, this book will easily become one of your most valued possesions. Also, it's important to note that this is the only site on the 'net where I've seen this book for sale (new and used).
I've tried bidding before and no matter what, I was always outbidded by like, 12 other people so just save yourself some time and not to mention money and buy this now! I wish that I would've done that a long time ago. I promise you won't be disappointed in the least!

What an Amusing Band!!!!!
I have been a cure fan for as long as I remember and own several cure books, but I must say this is my very favorite, one of the most interesting I have ever read on this band."Ten Imaginary years" takes you on a journey from the very begining of the band (it even mentions how Smith and Tolhurst meet) and ends around the late 1980's when the cure play in Orange, France.
Members of the band talk about their experiences with being in the world of music, their musical inspirations, life on the road, bad managment, fights, bar hopping, drinking binges (hilarious!!!), making of their videos, family life and the very unusual characters and situations they have been in along the way.
This was one of my first cure books , so I absolutely recomend it to the new cure fan and for the old cure fan, its a must have. It has great pictures (including childhood pictures form all members!!), a discography at the end of the book and lots of information about the members I had no idea about. Most important of all this book is extremely humorous. This book is the real thing, it revelas all unapologetically. You will love it!!!!!

A must for any Cure fan!
This book is not just a The Cure fan's book, it just a great book. In depth from cover to cover with every thing from school times to kiss me kiss me kiss me. In a few words: Lovable, interesting, and just wonderful.

Catholics at a Crossroads: Coverup, Crisis, and Cure

Best Book Ever for Helping the Church Renew Itself
Dr. Eileen Flynn has given us the most readable and by far the most intelligently reasoned book yet to help hierarchy, clergy and laity find their way back. She has not only done her homework and analyzed her findings with skills based on her dozen or more earlier books. She has also organized her approach so clearly that the reader follows her argument with ease and in some ways with pleasure and relief, however appalling the material has to be at certain inescapable points of that argument. She presents a calm, admirably positive prescription for recovery while there is still time. Flynn pulls no punches in setting forth her Rx to repair the catastrophic damage born of millennial practices of governance that little if anything to do with original intent. Her book gives us her special woman's interpretation of what Raymond Schroth, S.J., meant when he wrote, "Nowhere does Scripture have anything good to say about power and hanging onto power."

Activism by Lay People Needed
Flynn's book brings the reader around to a not-so-easy solution to a horrifying problem. Lay Catholics must become involved and fully participate, as did Christians in the days following the time of Christ. Being a sheep is not what it's about. If you're a Catholic or anyone else who is upset and angry about the behavior of some priests, and even enraged about the cover-up by some bishops or archbishops, but don't know what to do about it, read this book. Changes can be made. Catholics at a Crossroads gives background on the facts of this problem, proposes a number of causes and finally offers the solution - activism by lay people.

How the Unthinkable Happened
The stories about sexual abuse by Catholic priests are still making headlines. As a Catholic, I am horrified by these news stories. Every time I read them, I ask myself why, how could this happen? Then a few months ago I received a manuscript in the mail from a Catholic theologian who had tackled this question directly and thoughtfully. I am the editor of Paraview Publishing and Eileen Flynn's manuscript answered the questions I had been asking myself ever since the crisis broke in 2002. Flynn's crystal clear analysis of the situation uncovers the underlying causes of the crisis: the inflexibility of Catholic sexual ethics, the theological issues of responsibility, and the reality of a dysfunctional institution. If you'll look at the "Editorial Reviews" section of this book page, you'll see that knowledgeable people agree that Flynn has hit the nail on the head. Frankly, it would all be quite depressing if not for the fact that Flynn is also able to offer a "cure," a way for the laity and the Church to work together, address the underlying problems, and finally set things straight.

Great Advice for the Needy
Rhonda Findling's second book was even more helpful for me than her first (Don't Call that Man). Not just an advice book (though Rhonda has plenty to give here) it provides lots of straightforward insight as to why we cling and accept rejection from all types of unsuitable men (from the Men Who Play Parlor Games, to Runners, to Ambivalent Cybermen). Going beyond blaming dear old mom or dad, she also helps us examine our relationships with our siblings, our insecurities, and our deepest darkest fears. Enlightening and accurate is her evaluation of the diffent types of ambivalent men and how and why they operate. Most helpful is the focus on protecting ourselves and avoiding the pitfalls in this crazy world of love. It's a must read for single women who want a healthy relationship next time; women who have loved and been brutally hurt, and most of all, women who find themselves trapped in a cycle of ambivalent men and want to stop the madness. NB- A free bonus is her message board where the wounded can vent and find warm words and supportive friends.

A great guide and friend for the single woman.
Ms. Findling's book should be in the ready reference section of every woman's personal library. In the event she doesn't need it, she is practically certain to have a friend or family member who does. The book addresses the problems women experience in trying to have a committed relationship with a man. The book is just as effective for married women in problem relationships as it is for single women.

The focus of the book is twofold: on the chronically ambivalent man and the woman trying to have a committed relationship with him. There is a good deal of valuable analysis and insight about chronically ambivalent/unavailable men but there is, to my mind, even more helpful information and guidance for and about the woman in such a relationship, including women who repeat this frustrating and painful experience with man after man.

The book's main message is that women who are struggling with an ambivalent/unavailable man need to keep the focus as much or more on their needs and perceptions as on the man's problems. No, it is not about a woman needing to lose weight, have breast augmentation surgery or learning to become more submissive. It is, first, about dealing with the guilt and feeling of inadequacy that many women experience in such relationships; second, it is about specific actions a woman can take to better manage both her feelings and the relationship; and, third, it is about learning to feel good and complete within oneself with or without a man.

FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT!
MOST COMPREHENSIVE BOOK ON AMBIVALENT MEN! It guides a woman to regain her life and looks at the causes for his ambivalent behavior and the reasons why a woman may tolerate such bad behavior from an ambivalent man. The book does not preach, rather, it guides the reader through the process of recognizing patterns and modifying her behavior to empower herself! The book a guide to self-discovery and you will use it as a reference book for life!

Good for what ails¿your company
Not at all your typical business book, but every bit the truth about the corporate world that I have experienced. As I became drawn in by the story, as told through the eyes and thoughts of the characters, I relived my own personal nightmares of ineffective management. But their outcome was much more pleasant, and entirely plausible. Judging by the many positive comments of some very highly placed executives, it appears that Enterprise Medicine is for real. By joining together and focusing on the possibilities, they made their vision a reality through teamwork, mutual support and encouragement - along with a good dose of flexibility. I honestly dream of working at a place like that! The employees were empowered and took ownership of their future - and the future of their company. I can think of quite a few companies who are ailing right now. They have the potential to become great again, but I think they could use a good dose of "The Cure" to get them back on their feet!

Great Read
"The Cure" arrived on Friday afternoon, and I couldn't put it down. I am glad I had a free weekend to read it because it is a page-turner. I never thought a business book could be so entertaining and informative at the same time. This is really a business novel, so there is a story (a compelling one) with characters (many you will recognize from your own business).

It tells the story of company that faces many challenges - the biggest of which is its own culture. What's different about this book is it tells you how to change that troubled culture into positive energy that will drive the business towards success.

This is a must read for those struggling with the cultural issues facing so many businesses.

The Cure: Enterprise Medicine for Business
I loved this book. It really applied to my business and I can already see how it will improve how we do business. I highly recommend!

A Dying King & the Cure that May Save Him...
This is the fifth book in the Liam Rhenford/Fanuilh (Liam's dragon familiar) series and continues Daniel Hood's fabulous fantastical mystery series. In this tale, we join Liam in Torquay, the nation's capitol. He has been charged with delivering a package for the Duke and rather resents his position of errand boy. But Liam quickly realizes that this is no ordinary package. In short order he is accused of two murders, the disappearance of his friend, attacking the Chief of the Peacemakers (Police), treason and much more! When Liam realizes that he is carrying one of the legendary treasures of the Empire, the King's Cure, and that it may be the only thing standing between the dying King and death's door, he is in a race against time to get the potion delivered to the King. The only problem is - who is his enemy and who can he trust?

This is simply a fabulous book. For those of you who enjoy mysteries, this is a great fantasy to start with. And for those of you who enjoy fantasy, this is a great fantasy and a great mystery. Daniel Hood has a beautiful writing style, very clear and easy to follow, yet full of evocative descriptions and details. Hood's characters are very well developed and the reader can immediately identify with them. Although this book is part of a series, this one can easily stand on its own as all of the characters (except Liam and Rhenford) are new and Hood does an excellent job of giving just enough background information for new readers to understand, but not so much that dedicated fans get bored. Most of Hood's books are out of print, but they are readily available through used books stores and are well worth the little bit of time and effort needed to hunt them down. Buy this book - you won't regret it!

Unexpectedly Special Delivery
"The King's Cure" is the third in Daniel Hood's series, starring Liam Rhenford and Fanuilh, his dragon familiar. It opens with Liam's arrival at Master Cade's home in the capital city of Torquay, to deliver a package from Liam's employer, Vespasianus, Duke of the Southern Tier. Whatever the package is, Cade inspects it and then promptly asks Liam to carry it one step further. This time Liam is to take the packet to a man named Bairth, and he is warned to avoid notice.

Liam's irritation at running errands vanishes when his visit to Bairth's house puts him in the midst of a murder from which he barely escapes with his own life, helped considerably by Fanuilh's facility with spellcasting. As Liam avoids the Peacekeepers, he discovers that the package is a small vial containing the King's Cure, a remedy specific to those of royal blood. King Nicanor's health has been failing quickly and apparently the Duke had decided to offer aid. Unfortunately, someone else is determined to prevent the vial from reaching the King, and has set up Liam as the scapegoat.

Violent death seems to pursue Liam everywhere as he tries to resolve the crime and deliver the vial. Not only does he face betrayal, but his every move seems to be anticipated by the Pacifex Warden. He and Fanuilh are driven to the most extraordinary measures to avoid capture as they flee from place to place in Torquay. Rarely is there enough time for Rhenford and the dragon to formulate a workable plan of action as they are foiled repeatedly by the brilliant Pacifex.

I wish that Liam's relationship with Fanuilh was a bit better developed. The little dragon has considerable intelligence and many glints of personality. But Liam shifts from affection to master/servant with little rhyme or reason. Given the size of Fanuilh's part, more character development is called for to avoid him becoming a deus ex machina.

King's Cure is not really a true mystery story, but more of a fantasy adventure tale with a bit of a mystery at its inception. This hardly harm's the plot, but the reader should not anticipate another Lord D'Arcy. Instead enjoy it for what it is. Daniel Hood spins an inventive and engaging tale. Liam Rhenford is a character with depth as well as resourcefulness, much enhancing the tale. The reader will also enjoy the vivid scenes of the city of Torquay. The story stands quite well on its own. Recommended.

One of the best fantasy writers around!
Dan Hood is one of three authors on my "must buy" fantasy list. The others being Steven Brust and George R.R. Martin (Though I will say that George has the potential of going the way of Robert Jordan and taking far too long to tell his story). His world is skillfully developed and feels both real and fantastic at the same time. His characters are interesting and well defined but remain mysterious - leaving a reader with the desire to learn more about them. (I REALLY want to know more about Liam's past as the scion of a noble house fallen on difficult times...)

Hood's plots, however, are the real reason you should buy his novels. He combines logical mysteries with the fantasy world he created and weaves puzzling and challenging plots which leave a reader always wanting to keep on turning pages. One reviewer of an earlier novel (Fanuilh - Hood's first) said it was predictable. I disagree, there were always several possible murderers until near the end - at which point the focus was more on how Rhenford was going to handle the situation.

These novels are great for fantasy enthusiasts and mystery lovers alike. Those who are both are in for a rare treat.

Unfortunately Mr. Hood has recently noted on his website that his publisher is suspending the series due to lower than expected sales. For this reason I suggest that all lovers of good fantasy get out their wallets and buy King's Cure - it is a great read and maybe we can get Liam Rhenford a second chance.

My reason for this is, of course, purely selfish: I want to read more Daniel Hood novels!

Highly Recommended, Very Reader Friendly
This recently released book on Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most reader friendly book I've come across in quite a while. I've seen this book first-hand, and it is impressive. It describes the complicated neurology of the brain in an easy to follow manner. Also, Dr. Fotuhi describes (in plain language) the latest AD research findings and discusses their implications. If I had to recommend only two books on Alzheimer's disease for caregivers it would be this one and, "The 36-Hour Day." In contrast to some books on AD, Dr. Fotuhi's book is optimistic. Not only does he describe how AD develops, but more importantly he discusses what people can do to reduce their individual risk factors for developing AD. I find myself constantly recommending this book to all the families of patients participating in AD research projects I coordinate.

what a great book
I found this book extremly useful and easy to read... it covered the latest research on brain and memory, in addition to giving tips on how to prevent memory loss..
Dr. Fotuhi's credentials are very impressive and I hope he will continue passing on his expertise to us as he has in this book

Great tricks to improve memory!
I found this book very easy to read, well researched, and super useful! Fotuhi really knows his stuff. The best part for me was the chapter on the practical steps that can be taken to sharpen one's memeory. The ATTENTION formula is easy to adopt and very effective. While I can't say my memory is already sharper, I am more aware of what's going on up there and what can be done to make sure everything continues to work like fine oiled machine.

Excellent Results as promised
I lowered my cholesteral 38 points with this book! It's full of good information (and the miracle muffins are yummy). It's more of an adjustment to the way you eat than a "diet" book so don't be intimidated. You can even enjoy holiday meals with some minor tweaking. A great gift for anyone you know who's struggling with this problem.

Lost 25 lbs and improved lipid profile by 30%
Being the same age as the author when he had his first heart attack provided true motivation to follow his advice after getting my test results. After having prescribed Lipitor, my doctor was amazed to learn that I had successfully improved my profiles by 30% and lost 25lbs - by diet alone (without the need for the drugs)! I continue my efforts to add a regular excercise regimen to my program, but even changing my eating habits according to his recommendations has made quite an impact.

Well explained strategy and direction.
After a family member received a bad diagnosis from his doctor we were in the uneviable position of getting his blood pressure and cholesterol down....and fast. We sifted through dozens of books at the library and found this one. It clearly and concisely explains what has to be done (and not done) to reduce cholesterol and get a healthly heart. And it works.

The Kidney Stones Handbook : A Patient's Guide to Hope, Cure and Prevention

Vital guide for kidney stone sufferers
I have suffered through three kidney stones myself, with the most recent by far the worst. My therapy since then has been simple but (so far) effective: whenever I feel the least bit thirsty, I fill up a jumbo plastic 32 ounce cup (acquired from a local fast-food restaurant) with water and down the entire contents over the next half-hour or so. I may spend the rest of the day in the bathroom, but I haven't gotten a kidney stone since.

For those who want more information about possible therapies (and causes) of kidney stones, there is this book, which provides an excellent overview of the numerous types of stones, what causes them, and what can be done about them. There is strong encouragement to confront one's doctor to make greater efforts to diagnose causes along with information on just what these efforts should be. One key chapter covers what one should or should not eat, which is again divided according to types of stone. My only quibble is that an occasional looseness in terminology causes confusion: generally a stone is referred by type, which can include calcium or oxalate. However, at a couple of points, there is a reference to a calcium oxalate type. I have no idea how that fits in with the other types.

But that's a very minor point. Overall this is an excellent book and absolute must reading for anyone with serious kidney stone problems (i.e., who has gotten more than me!).

must read for those in pain
this book is excellently written. It help my family get through a very difficult and painful time. since we read this book there are no more stones. there is no book out there like this plus i recommend their web site.

This book is not a must-read - it's a MUST-HAVE
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is co-authored by a kidney stone sufferer. Gail Savitz knows what she is writing about. The other author is a urologist that is able to put the kidney stone nightmare into laymans terms. This isn't a book that you struggle to read; it is easily understandable and is written in "real" English, rather than Doctor Speak. The book explains what a stone is, the 5 most common chemical risk factors, common questions/answers, and many other things. Most importantly, it tells you steps to take to prevent another stone. Anyone who has suffered through this horror will appreciate knowing how to keep it from happening again. It is also an excellent book for the friends and family of stone sufferers. These people must learn what you are going through. This book gave me the information that my own doctor failed to give me. I recommend it highly!

Really helpful book for all couples
Hopefully my husband will take the hint and read this. The "waiting room" stories are great. Some really hit home for me. Dr. Hakim presents sexual problems and gives real solutions for overcoming them. Sex should be great between married couples, and communication is the key. (Although not the kind of thing we talk about so openly in St. Louis!)

If I was in Florida, I'd try to set up an appointment to see Dr. Hakim - and i'd drag my husband with me.

Don't be afraid to buy this book - it will help!

A helpful and pragmatic look at sexual dysfunction
Written by Lawrence S. Hakim (Head of the Section of Sexual Dysfunction, Male Infertility, and Prosthetics at the Cleveland Clinic, Florida) with the assistance of Donald Michael Platt, The Couple's Disease: Finding A Cure For Your "Lost" Love Life is a helpful and pragmatic look at sexual dysfunction (a problem that afflicts more women than men), and how to go about sustaining or restoring lost love lives for couples in married, long-term, or same-sex relationships. The thoughtful, reader-friendly, informed and informative text by an articulate and knowledgeable physician who is well experienced in treating sexual dysfunction make The Couple's Disease an excellent resource for both professional reference collections and the non-specialist general reader with an interest in an often sensitive and intimately personal subject.

Move Over Dr. Phil...
Move over Dr. Phil - A get-real book that covers the emotional and clinical aspects of male AND female sexual dysfuntion, how it affects your relationship and how to cure it. The book is so specific about problems and solutions and is enjoyable to read. I've never read a book as helpful as this one. Even though it's a "couple's" book, I think it's a must for all men and women whether you're in a relationship or not. Just as important, it should be REQUIRED reading for doctors....
