SUMMARY:
Stevie has always longed for a horse of her own, and this summer she finally has the chance to get one. When she and the rest of The Saddle Club head out West to visit their friend Kate Devine and star in a wild west show, Kate's dad agrees to sell Stewball, Stevie's favorite ranch horse. but as the day to bring Stewball back East draws nearer, Stevie begins to have second thoughts. Does a ranch horse _really belong at Pine Hollow Stables?

COVER ART REVIEW:
Prefect. It's a scene from the book and the people and horse are done very well.
OVERALL: CAMPION. One of the more rememberable covers.

BOOK REVIEW:
One of my favorites. The problem with this book is the same problem with all the Bar None books: Lisa and her trampness. (Also known as Lisa and John.) These two annoy me to high heaven. I just don't get why every single guy(except for Phil, who has taste) likes Lisa. Maybe there all brain dead or something. Thankfully, we got a lot of Stevie and the horse action to read. Unfortunately, while this is supposed to be a Stevie story, there is far too much Lisa and John in this story. That is what stopped the story (and pretty much all the other Bar None stories) from being champions.
OVERALL: RED. A good read with to much Lisa/John. And it felt like it was missing something. Still one of my favorites though. (No thanks to Lisa/John though. Everyone else was great.)

Fantastic!!!!
This book was great! Stevie and Stewball make a terific team! Their personallties are very alike! If you like advantures in Bar None than this book is just right for you!

Great!!!!
This book was so good!! It has a sense of humor, and the characters are well thought of. I love the SC books where they are at Pine Hollow, since they have advantages there such as their own horses, and getting even with Veronica, but I also like the Bar None since Kate, Christine, and John are there. I like the Bar None books

1. horses

2. more characters that are the saddle club's age

3. Stewball and Stevie(they make a good team!)

4. John and Lisa's relationship

5. Carole and Chance(later Bar None Ranch books)

6. All the other horses

7. Well, it's the Saddle Club!!!!!

Tragedy for the American Trust in Justice
I have always suspected that the American Judicial System has been used as a means of intimidation and coersion. Two thumbs up to Ms. Tatum and her commitment to see justice met head on. The statistics are stammering for americans...and the recent events with the Clinton/Lewinski drama fell right into the authors superhiway of advice.

Spook Spouse...What an incredible story...A Must to Read
Imagine this: You are suddenly surrounded by 16 FBI Agents...They tell you that your husband has been arrested and is in a High Security Federal Lockup...charged with TREASON...and if you do not cooperate fully, you too will be charged with treason. This makes those bad hair days quite palatable. A Spook Spouse,The Author, Nancy Tatum shares her experiences of being accused of 'guilt by association'. Her husband "Chip" Tatum, one of Americas finest spies was tucked away in a High Security Prison 'in the interest of National Security' unable to communicate with the outside world. She was guilty by association and this message needs to be understood. Live the lie, feel the pain, experience the dirty tricks used to try and turn this Spook Spouse on her unsuspecting husband. More than a story, this is A Preparedness Manual for what to expect as a defendant or family member of a defendant facing Federal Indictments . How to deal with attorneys, How to cope with jails, prisons, their systems, guards and other prisoners. And last of all how to win that appeal!!!

Excellent expose' of the Federal Department of Justice
This expose' hits at the heart of the dirty tricks department of the Federal Department of Justice. No private citizen is as safe and immune as he/she may think. This book will surely grow in popularity as the story is told. And watch for more from this author and her husband. Very revealing and written with an enjoyable attitude.

Great book!!
I thought Kristy and They Copycat was GREAT. Although the title should be changed because the title explains about 20% of the story. Kristy wants to try out for the SMS softball team and the other girls who have been on it for a long time lie to Kristy and 3 other girls and tell they have to do an initiation. Their assignment is to spray paint a shed. Well, you should read it to find out the rest. It's what I call a "hilly" book because it has a lot of climaxes.

A fantastic book that I would recommend to anybody!
It's about Kristy Thomas who formed a club called the baby-sitter's club. When Kristy signs up for the softball club at Stoneybrook Middle School(SMS)She finds a couple of friends, but the rest of the team doesn't like her and are making her and her friends do bad things to stay in the softball club. Her stepsister Karen looks up to Kristy more than anybody, and lately she's been copying everything that Kristy does. But when Kristy get's caught in a huge scheme, this is something she never wants Karen to copy!

Great book, I would recommend it to everyone.
My favorite book is Kristy and the Copycat, by AnnM. Martin. Kristy started the babysitter club and she had an idea thatshe would start a club where someone could call one phone number and reach a group of babysitters. Kristy also started a softball team for children that could not play on any other team. Kristy and the Copycats is about Kristy and her stepsister copying her because of her admiration for Kristy. At first, Kristy loves the attention, but how long can it go on before Kristy tires of having a shadow? I loved reading about Kristy's new ideas and unusual situations that she gets herself into. I would recommed the Babysitter's Club to everyone.

Kristy's in terrible danger...
In "Kristy and the Kidnapper", Kristy encounters a dangerous situation while on a school debate trip in D.C. One of her classmates nearly gets upducted, and Kristy is the only witness...

I enjoyed this book although I like the more down to earth Friends Forever storylines better. This one was a bit much, but I did enjoy the change of pace...none of the other Friends Forever teens were in the story. Their names are only mentioned once or twice, and that was refreshing and different.

Overall this book was all right, but it isn't as great as the previous books in the series.

I Loved Abby Being in This Book!
I was really excited when I saw this book because Abby was FINALLY in one of the FF books. I also want to know whats up with Jessi?

Anyways, Kristy and Abby are on the debate team and are traveling to Washington D.C. for a competition. They are both signed up in the beginner level and Kristy gets assigned to a team with someone name Kai and David. Kristy tells David that he looks exactly like Terry Hoyt, and he acts all nervous... Then David disappears...........

A book that will keep you reading and reading!
This book was humongously good. In fact, I think this is the best Kristy book so far in the BSC Friends Forever series. A great job you're doing, Ms. Martin, and keep up the good work!

When Kristy and her friends went down to Washington, D.C., on a school trip, they expected to see some famous sites. But they never imagined they would be caught up in a big and dangerous mystery involving secret identities, dark revenge, and a suprise kidnapping attempt. Kristy is one of the only witnesses who could put the kidnapper behind bars. Can she stop him in time? Read this book and find out!

A mystical mystery
I love how Gena finds her shades in a thrift shop and they turn out to have special powers. The premise of this book excites the imagination. The telling of the story lives up to this promise.

Can't wait for the next one!!!!
I've read all the Fortune Teller Club books and love them, especially The Magic Shades. The author is really hitting her stride with the characters here and the action has gotten even more interesting. It's a great read for girls of all ages, especially if you're interested in extra-sensory stories.

I hope the next one has dopplegangers in it. They're cool.

WOW! THIS FUN SERIES KEEPS GETTING BETTER!
The Fortune Tellers Club is back with their most mysterious book yet. Gena buys a magical pair of sunglasses which show her images of the future. But can the glasses be trusted? Are they predicting the future or casting a dark spell over Gena? Danger and mystery grow with each chapter -- until the thrilling conclusion. I'm already looking forward to the next book: The Secrets of the Lost Arrow.

How to Setup and Operate a Successful Nightclub: An Entrepreneur's Guide to Running a Profitable Club Operation

Very good book, but there is room for more
Ok, If just half the clubs in this town were to read this book, they would probably stay in business longer than a year. This book is very well thought out and covers alot of little gotcha's in designing a night club. Gotcha's that in my experience most club owners ignore or don't know about, and then wonder why nobody comes to their clubs.
My only critism is that the author could have explained things further if the book had more pages. He summarizes a ton of infomation well to fit in the books alotted length but really on the business side of things, I suspect he could have filled another book altogether.

Good, but could be better
This book covered much of the same info as in other start-up books for bars/clubs, but definately points you in the right direction for things to think about and consider in owning or starting a nightclub. Aside from the numerous grammatical errors I am pleased with the book. This book should have been proofed better before publishing, I found an error about ever 10 pages (along with some strange wording). I would like to see a bit more on financial price breakdowns and models along with more info on contacts and ways to go about getting the tools/contacts you need. All-in-all this was good brain food for thought.

Informative
Excellent book for anybody who hopes to someday open and run their own nightclub or bar. This book talks about what it takes to open a club and run one. Being a bar owner is not as easy as it seems and this one tells you what you need to know. The appendix, with many drink recipes at the end of the book was also very helpful and educational about mixing drinks. This is definitately a must read for anyone in the bar business or hoping to get into it.

Jessi and the Dance School Phantom (Baby Sitters Club, No 42)

An interesting addition to the Baby Sitters Club series.
In "Jessi and the Dance School Phantom", Jessi is absolutely excited when she wins the lead role of Princess Aurora in her dance school's upcoming production of 'The Sleeping Beauty'. But then, Jessi starts getting threatening messages. Her ballet toe shoes are stolen. Her leotards are stolen. She keeps getting dirty looks from her classmates and they keep bumping into her and making her look bad in front of their teacher, Mme Noelle. The Baby-Sitters try to help Jessi find out who this mysterious phantom is and why she wants Jessi out of the show. Meanwhile, the Baby-Sitters are planning a big Pet show for the children of Stoneybrook, and a lot of other chaotic things start happening. It's a good book for those who like mysteries. I enjoyed it a lot.

A Good Book, not great, but good.
I rate it 4 stars 'cause it's not that exciting and that great, but I think it's a good book. Jessi was chosen for the lead play for The Sleeping Beauty, But somebody's about to take it away from her! First Jessi looses her Ballet Shoes, then she starts getting weird notes... that scares Jessi completly. Jessi twisted her ankle when she did a tour jete. And then somebody go's into Jessi's bag and rips her extra things for ballet.

very well written
this is the best jessi book. It is very well written and you feel as if you are in class with jessi. All that talk about ballet makes me want to put on some ballet music or something. It's scary how she was getting threats, and the most reasonable thing to do would have been filing a complaint if I was in her position, but she and the BSC found a very clever way to catch the culprit and succeeded. Also, the BSC held a pet show for their baby sitting charges.

Interesting but somehow obvious
The essay is serious and full of good archive work, scholarly ok, but in some parts one expects wilder conclusions and not only a simple comment on the information provided by the documents or news papers. Apart from that, the author must be sincere, and inform in advance to the reader that he will dedicate much of this work to the ways in which the american culture (sports) spread in Mexico. Many of the conclusions he arrive to, are too obvious and general for the ones who do research in XIX Century Latin America Cultural Studies. [Sorry for any mistakes in my written english]

How could they let this book go out of print?
This is one of the books I recommend most frequently when people ask for fun stuff to read, in English, about Mexico. And I frequently assign it to students in intro-level history classes. I'm not entirely convinced by the chapter on rural life, but the book as a whole belongs among the best histories of the late nineteenth/early twentieth century period in Latin America. Dang! Now what will I assign my students? Bring this back into print, please!

Who knew that cultural history could be this much fun?
This is a book that deserves to be more widely known. It is a serious historical treatise about culture, social life and customs during the Porfiriato regime of Mexico (1875-1910)- but don't let the academic theme frighten you. Judas at the Jockey Club is an excellent and fascinating read that considers topics like "why and how horse-racing came to Mexico", "why and how baseball became popular", "why cricket faded from popularity", and "what bicycles have to do with politics". Serious scholarship should all be this much fun.

Okay Book
I only rated this 4 stars because I'm not a big sports fan but it's actually a good book. This is where Kristy finally gets interested in boys(in this case, Bart Taylor)and she also starts a softball team for little kids.To give you an idea of how young this kids are, I'll tell you that Gabbie is on the team! It's funny!

Do you want to know who the walking disaster is.
I think this is a very good book. It is about a girl named Kristy and how she makes a softball team out of any kid that wants to be in one. The kids that are on the team don't really know how to play that good. They all put their best effort to get better and they do. Kisty;s team is called Kristy;s Krushers with a K. Then they play against a Bart;s Bashers(Kristy has a big crush on him). Bart's team is beter and they are all bigger than kristy's,so read the book to find out what happens next.

Very good!
The characterization is strong, with a good mix of characters. Kristy is a good example of a round character, but Jamie Newton is a flat character. The conflicts are also strong.

Maid Mary Anne DOES have a ring to it.............. ;-)
Basically this book is about when Mary Anne starts helping a woman named Mrs. Towne, who becomes her friend and then needs help becasue she breaks her ankle. At first Mary Anne is happy to help, but then it gets stressful and unlikeable. And then she questions herself, is she supposed to help Mrs. Towne, or be her Maid?

A perfect book for boring times in the day!
It was very good the way how Mary-Anne tries to help out but ends up doing EVERTHING! I like the way she gets tired of it and tries to relate it to Mrs Towne. (Mrs Towne is the lady that Mary-Anne helps out)

U will Love this!
This book was awesome! It was about how Mary Anne helped out an ederly neighbor, Mrs. Towne, who later on became her friend. But she only became her friend after they communicated. They had to beceause, unknowingly, Mrs. Towne was taking advantage of poor Mary Anne.

At first, I was skeptical about this book. It looked like Mary Anne was so dull she couldn't solve her own problems! But you can't judge a book by its cover, so I read it. Very good and well written. I liked it because Mary Anne really stood up for herself in the end, and that's what communicating is about: making yourself and your point clear to all who hear you. I was glad when Mary Anne realized that whether or not she hurt Mrs. Towne's feelings, she owed it to herself to explain HER feelings.

You will like this book if you have trouble sticking up for yourself, or if you just want to read it on a rainy Sunday, like I did. Rainy Sundays are THE best time to catch up on good reading as this.
