Art and golf combine for hole-in-one...
Hallowed Ground is a beautiful book, capturing spectacular locations from the greatest courses in both America and the United Kingdom.
Included in this hardback collection of art by Linda Hartough is the fabled 7th hole at Pebble Beach, and many holes from Augusta National's Amen Corner. Pieces on each course by Jaime Diaz highlight battles that have taken place on the fairways, and give life to the paintings as showdowns on 18th greens are described.
What makes this book interesting is that when you see the life-like paintings and read about the classic golf that has gone on in that scene, you are able to put yourself in the picture. It is amazing to be able to watch the final round of the 1981 US Open just by reading this book.
To a true fan of golf, or anyone who loves a good coffee table book, Hallowed Grounds is a perfect edition to your collection. Buy this book today, and put yourself in the picture!

Her Passion is Painting
This "coffee table" style book works for me because of my passion for golf and my love for famous golf courses. Linda Hartough may be the best landscape artist I've seen in rendering these classic courses with the precision of modern day photography.

What I really got out of this book was a memory recollection of playing a majority of these courses. Looking at these paintings I was thrown into the distant memory of playing Pebble Beach, Shinnecock Hills, Winged Foot, Olympic Club, Carnoustie, St. Andrews (Old Course), Royal Lytham, Royal Birkdale, and Royal Troon. It was like de ja vu all over again!

Also worth checking out are the Augusta National paintings. This might be her finest work. I especially liked her work on hole #'s 10,11,12, and 15. Augusta is the best course in the world. Second to none. Her painting here is some of her finest work also.

If Linda Hartough ever publishes paintings of the century old courses of Ireland, in particular the courses designed by Old Tom Morris and Alister Mackenzie , I will buy it. I would really like to see her render and paint the "classic" Irish courses of Ballybunion, Lahinch, Ardglass, Royal Portrush, Newcastle, and Royal County Down. Those classic links style courses are some of the finest on this planet and really bring back fond memories of my playing days.

Terrific!
I was fortunate to have the Golf Channel on a few months ago. Linda Hartough, the artist featured in this book was on with a few of her originals. I immediately purchased the book. After browsing the book 3 or 4 times, taking in her breathtaking artwork, I decided to read a few of the writings by Jaime Diaz on some of my favorite courses. The writings are as enjoyable as the artwork. This book should become required reading for anyone playing the game, especially for golfers new to the game. They would gain a greater appreciation for golf. Thank you Linda Hartough and Jaime Diaz

A Great Book!
Carole's birthday is coming up and she wants to do something speacial. Stevie and lisa think that it's a great idea. Carole deserves something special for her birthday. Not just special, something horsey. Then they come up with the perfect plan. A hayride! They invite girls and boys to a basic party and then they go for a hayride. It's perfect! But their plans shatter when Carole hurts her leg and won't be able to dance at the party. They decide to have the party anyway, so they invite everyone at Pine Hollow. But word gets out around the stables before snooty Veronica gets her invite. Now she's out to ruin the party for The saddle Club. She calls Cam and Phil (Carole and Stevie's boyfriends) and tells them something to make them not come. As for Lisa... Veronica gets the idea that Simon, the boy who's been crushing on Lisa, is Lisa's boyfriend. She snags him as a partner to go to the dance with, planning to go to the party she wasn't invited to with Lisa's boyfriend. But Lisa has help from Stevie to get her real crush as a date. Turns out Veronica was invited, though.

Read this book, it's great!

One of the best of this seiries!
Another fabulous adventure in one of my pre-teen favorite series' was "Hayride!" I loved it because of all the boy-girl stuff (I was just getting into boys) and it was just a really entertaining book! Reccommended to any young girl, Saddle Club reader or not!

A fun read!
When I used to read the Saddle Club books, this was one of my favs. I loved the way Stevie schemed Bob and Lisa's relationship and Veronica's failed scheme added to the hysterias! I love this one!

The illustrations are especially whimsical
Hilary Knight's Twelve Days Of Christmas tells of a bear who struggles with an overabundance of holiday gifts from her sweetheart. Whimsical animals parade in each scene as poor Bedelia struggles with a house increasingly filled with odd gifts. The illustrations are especially whimsical.

A Joyous Holiday Tale.....
It's Christmastime, and Benjamin Bear looks out his window, and down the path to his beloved, Bedelia Bear's little cottage, and you can almost see the gift ideas popping into his furry head. So, on the first day of Christmas, he arrives with a partridge in a pear tree, and the fun begins..... Hilary Knight, author of Where's Wallace and The Owl And The Pussy-Cat, and illustrator of Kay Thompson's Eloise books, takes this old familiar holiday song, and turns it into a joyous and engaging picture book. His marvelous artwork, full of bold, bright color, and expressive detail, grows busier, and more intricate with each page turn, until it almost spills off the paper. Young and old alike will be mesmerized as they pore over the pictures, finding something new and fun each time they open the book. With a delightful and creative surprise at the end to get everyone in the holiday spirit, Hilary Knight's The Twelve Days Of Christmas is a wonderful read-aloud book the whole family can share together, and is sure to become a "must have" classic to help usher in the Christmas season, year after year.

"True Love" and "Giving"
I've loved Hilary Knight's work since I was a child feasting on his *Hilary Knight's ABC.* In his *Twelve Days of Christmas," Knight provides an original and meaningful interpretation of the traditional carol. I especially love the way Bedelia returns the "true love" of her beloved gift-bringer by making a fair for him to enjoy--love is reciprocal in this book! The second thing I love about this book is the subplot, in which the raccoon struggles to open the mysterious can, only to find a true love of his own. Finally, the concept of each day as a "pick-up," in which Benjamin brings a partridge and a pear tree (and ensuing gifts) on *each* day, adds a new dimension to the story. Well-planned, beautifully executed, and the finest children's picture book version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" that I've seen.

Incompetence: The Real Talent of the Human Race
This is the funniest book I own, and I re-read it frequently. It has an amazing cumulative effect--you start out with smiles, and a few pages later you're wiping away tears, rendered speechless and almost breathless with laughter. Mr. Pile's prose style is brilliant. His awe in the face of breathtaking human incompetence (which he claims "separates us from the animals")is inspirational. Buy this book.

THIS BOOK IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK.
After reading this book, you would think that your underachievemedents aren't unique, since there are lots of "crazy" but "special" failures which are written in this book.

One of the funniest books ever written!
I can't say enough good things about this book. Perhaps the 'English as she is wrote' section is the most side-splitting text ever! I refer back to the book frequently, and tell everyone about it.

Rave Review for "Life on a Pig Farm"
This is the first in a wonderful series of books by Judy Wolfman and David Lorenz Winston, giving an educational and entertaining documentation of farm life. Perfect for the elementary school child. The descriptions are accurate, scientific and mature, but in clear language that children can readily understand. The photos tie in perfectly with the text, and together present the full story of the life cycle of the animal, and show the love and care given by the children who live on the farm. My seven year old grandson thoroughly enjoys these books, and has taken them to school to share with his teacher and classmates.

Be sure to check out this great book!

3. A section on going to the fair

Life on a Pig Farm
I bought this for my grandchildren and read it for myself! It is well written and tells a story a child can understand. It answers all the questions that young children tend to ask about pigs, living on a farm, etc. Love it and can hardly wait to give it to my grandaughters!

Good
It was a good book and I like what happens to Varonica in the end. I also liked the surprise Stevie gets when she opens the box, but it go's on for to long when the eggs are hatching. I don't think Steve would forget about the new horse so quickly either.

quack quack quack!
this is a good book because stevie is so preoccupied. i also really loved learning more about vaulting. now i can convice my friend(shes a gymnast/circus performer) that horses r the greatest. i got so attached to the goslings, and #7's (or was it 5?) gift for Veronica is an image i will cherish forever! it was so sad when stevie realized that the goslings were not all going to hatch. it was funny when #'s 1-8 officially became #'s 1-8. even my brother likes it!

Great book
This book was great. Stevie gets 12 goose eegs when she entered in a contest. There is also a other thing going on. Max Pine Hollow's onwer as a vaulting horse at the stables. The Saddle Club is determined to master vaulting but Veronica is getting in the way. She is taking fancy coaches and the girls can't helping admitting that Veronica is really good at it. When Stevie's goslings hatch they follow her everywhere she goes. Now there is a vaulting show coming up and The Saddle Club is going to be in it and so is Veronica. Lisa is getting really good. She was the first one to master the Stand. Stevie and Carole think Lisa got what it takes to win the show or is the Saddle Club and Veronica in for a big surprise?

A wonderful guide through the journey called midlife crisis!
It is unfortunate that so many marriages are falling prey to midlife crisis (if you want to call it that). Point is our disposable society makes it too easy to divorce. This book is a pratical guide to help you traverse this journey. Not only is the book an easy read and very helful in understanding and keeping yourself in check, it really focuses on learning about yourself and not talking blame for your wayward spouses issues. It helps you be a better you! As well, the website listed is a direct link to others suffering the same things. That site has so much information, one could read for days. There is also chat which is helpful and one bonus is that friends can be made to last a lifetime. This book has it all and I implore anyone in the throes of this anxiety called midlife crisis to read this book and then peruse the site for loving and supportive help. It is a truly a gift to know you are not alone.

practical and helpful
I found this book to be easy to read, and chocked full of practical and sound advice, along with comforting words and stories from others who have been on that journey.

For anyone who has found themselves on a path of confusion, as well as those who are dragged along for the ride, this book will give comfort and hope to many. I have read through it several times, and find something new in it every time. I highly recommend it.

Lifesaver Guide to MLC
This is an extremely helpful book on the various ways to handle your significant other's (s/o) MLC. Although its focus is on men, it is beneficial to both sexes.

It doesn't just tell you to hang on or act as if as some anti divorce sites suggest. It tells gives you real life stories of various people and how they handled their s/o MLC.

It also shows there is life, no matter which road you take, whether it be riding out the rollercoaster ride, getting a divorce, getting a legal separation or just co-existing until you KNOW what is the right course of action for you.

The book even shows humor in the whole process because when experiencing either your own MLC or someone else's...you have to be able to find humor.

I highly recommend this book for those going through or being affected by someone with MLC. It's a very easy read and you'll find yourself closely relating to these individuals.

GREAT MYSTERY
This is definitely one of Ann M. Martin's best mysteries. Ireally like this book because it's so well written. A mansion has beenrobbed in Stoneybrook and the BSC is on the case. This book has aninteresting plot and a very surprising ending. END

A Very Surprising Mystery
I think this was a GREAT book! I don't particularly like mysteries, so I was very glad when this book came out. Kristy and the Cat Burglar kept me wondering who the culprit was until the very end! You should DEFINATLY read this book!

One of the best BSC mysteries
This is one of the top five! Kristy is walking home one day and hears glass breaking. What could it have been? Kristy(of course) has to investigate. She finds out that a buglary has taken place. Kristy and the BSC begin to investigate, and find out they are dealing with pros. Then the police arrest a VERY surprising person. To find out more read the book.

Mary Anne and Miss Priss
I thought this was a very good book, and I am going to read lots more of this series. I like the character of Mary Anne and she is very kind to help Jenny to get happy again. I would recommend this book to a lot of people.

A great book
Mary Anne discovers that Jenny, a four-year-old that she is babysitting for, is starting to act prissy and trying to be perfect. Mary Anne soon realizes that it is because Jenny's baby sister is getting a lot of attention, and Jenny feels like her parents are paying no attention to her. Should Mary Anne talk to Jenny's parents about it? Find out what happens!

Intriquing view on child psychology...
Story kind of amusing, yet poignant. Kind Mary Anne seems to be the only one who understands why Jenny acts so fussy for a four-year-old. Touching how Mary Anne worries about Jenny, especially when Jenny's own parents don't seem to understand her & pour a lot of attention into baby Andrea. The book was kind of funny in that Mary Anne goes through a lot with Jenny, especially when Jenny turns messy & makes a HUGE mess of peanut butter in the kitchen, testing even Mary Anne's patience. Another cute scene which also reflects Mary Anne's gritty, honest humility is when the other kids reject Jenny openly from their games & Mary Anne is startled to notice that Jenny doesn't seem hurt or upset, then thinks, "if it had been me, I would have turned bright red & burst into tears." Typical Mary Anne humility! I'm past my teen years now & I read this book a while back, but I sometimes re-read Mary Anne's books & as I'm reading, I sometimes forget that Mary Anne is still a child in this series; her mind seems so...grown up & mature. I love how perceptive she is & sees beyond the superficial facts of behavior & understands why people behave in certain ways. Mary Anne's truly enchanting & unlike any other character I've read about.
