The Best for the Least
I think that it's terrific to have finally found a current coding manual with all of the three necessary coding systems combined in one manual for nearly the price of one coding manual. Anyone interested in properly coding you need to take a look at this one.

Principles of CPT Coding - An excellent tool
This book is an excellent self-learning guide for new coders as well as an excellent refresher tool for intermediate coders. It provides valuable guidelines and excercises to enrich your coding knowledge. It is a tool to be used along with the CPT Code Book - not as a replacement. This book would be well worth the money as a reference book.

Profess Ed is nice, but still a step down frm Expert Edition
Professional edition lacks "key" for CPT's showing if 50 modifier is needed;or if assistant surgeon/PA are billable, as well as many other clues for procedures/surgeries maximum re-imbursement. Where as the CPT EXPERT coder provides all the extra info, it may not be as "eye-appealing" as the Prof Ed, but it's much more precise. I've used both books, I love the Expert Ed. and I'd rather not go back to the Professional edition though it is considerably better that just the "regular" CPT.
When coding surgeries for a multi-specialty clinic the Expert Edition is a "must" not a luxury.

GOOD PRICE ON THIS BOOK
If your going to Fairleigh Dickinson University and your taking up Medical Coding and Billing you will need this book

Professional edition CPT book
As a coding/compliance auditor and educator, I recommend this edition of CPT as compared to the standard edition. It has great illustrations that make understanding the anatomy of the code much easier. I also prefer this edition to the expert because some of the wording in the expert edition is more crowded and less eye-appealing. Also, the spiral-bound version is easier to handle if you use the book on a regular basis.

Comprehensive Guide From The People Who Know
If you're interested in learning medical terminology for professions such as Medical Transcriptionist, this is a strong text for you to use. The format is easy to use and the content up-to-date. I strongly recommend this text.

So Easy To Use
If you're going to update your cpt book, be sure to pick this one up. Not only does it come with tabs to divide each section for quick reference, but the spiral binding is extremely convenient for looking up codes. Now you can leave a page exposed without worrying about the book falling closed, which is fabulous!

Sight Unseen
Glad I read the reviews and learned that an answer key could berequested from the publisher. Considering the [cost of the book]...this should be included! I agree with others..what good areexercises if you've no way to check how right/wrong one's answers are?

CORRECT contact for the Answer Key
A student's call brought the review post by Lynette Arnett, Mar 2000 to my attention. The tel # in the posting contains the # for an insurance company and although I share the name of Jenny, the phone # posted is not mine nor does it belong to anyone else here at McGraw-Hill.
I work in the New Media dept (not customer service) of MH and my manager and I thought best to post the 'correct' phone numbers so if someone does need to request an answer key for this text or any other, they might best be served. The correct number for customer service at McGraw-Hill for Students is 1-800-262-4729 and 1-800-338-3987 for instructors. Thank you!

I found the answer for the answer key
This is an excellent book, with much information. Alas, for such an in-depth workbook, it was totally aggravating not to have the answer key. Okay, all you out there, I called McGraw-Hill at 1-800-252-4729 and was then told to call a Jenny at 1-630-789-5305 (she works at McGraw-Hill) and request an answer key. She will send you one for free. Then make it known to Jenny, tactfully of course, how the answer key should have been included in order of the workbook.
