Unfortunately outdated
This book consists of reports, which describe the state of the ASP market about a year ago. While writing my diploma thesis about this topic, I had to realise, that this topic loses its actuality rather quickly as the only constant element in the ASP market is change. The book focuses on so-called First-Generation ASPs putting most business emphasise on quick market presence. In the meantime the market has matured leading to 2nd and 3rd Generation ASPs, which qualifies the reports contained in this book as partially outdated basic knowledge. Today, potential ASP customers and providers use far more complex strategies to utilize the ASP concept.

Just a Collection of Whitepapers
I purchased this book looking for an overall, logically flowing picture of the ASP concept. While the content is valid, I was disappointed to find that it was just a collection of publicly available white papers and industry articles. The book is smaller than I thought - only 300 pages, and it contains advertisements for various vendors (the only color sections of the book). There are many graphs and pie charts that are useless because the different segments are all different shades of gray, and I think that it is far too much to spend for what seems to be a collection of white papers an intern could assemble after surfing the web for an afternoon.

Reaction on Mr. Madden's review
I don't agree with mr Brian Madden. I can image why there are some ads in the book, but they did help me to reach and to get in touch with these vendors. The articles are clearly whitepapers, casestudies and reports of research companies and the are not commercial in my opinion, they only inform you of the several options. The HOTT Guide gave me an objective idea of the possibilities of ASP for my company, although I already knew some of it.

Not Great!
This book is extremely basic and can be read in about an hour. Hardly worth the price for a 139 page paper back.

Just another sales book.
The book is well written and easy to follow, but it is relatively generic. I believe it to be a little over priced for its content.

This book is success insurance for New Home Sales!
This book is an essential for any person in the New Home Sales market. No matter if you are new to the business or a decade- plus verteran, this practical and direct approach to new home sales (when followed to the "T") will guarantee extraordinary results!

1999 Best Buys for Your Home (Annual)

Doesn't include phones!
How the editors of consumer reports could have stunningly failed to include that critical home item--the telephone--is a key failure of this book to deliver what it promises. This guide lands on CD players, recorders, digital video recorders, MP3 players, receivers and even satellite television. Could it be that the editors think the telephone is too basic to list? Yet the book does rank the mundane vacuum cleaners, hand mixers, and even hot-water heaters. The ultimate irony is that the picture on the front cover--in at least one version of this book--shows a mother fixing what looks to be a colorful stir-fry while her son looks on and a football game blares from a television behind them--and despite all this the mother is, yes, yakking on a nameless cordless phone.

Great collection of reviews and info
Whether or not you like Consumer Report's reviews of products, this book is a great collection of things to look for when looking for appliances or other items for your house. Even if the model you're interested in isn't included in the rankings, the evaluation criteria are still a good starting place for your own analysis. All the material is pulled from the CR magazines over the past year or so.

A poor attempt at a beekeeping book
What a title "Beekeeping: A Practical Guide for the Novice Beekeeper Buying Bees, Management, Rearing, Honey Production". Too bad that the title was almost half the length of the book. This book has a very european look and feel to the instructions and hive structures mentioned. I would not recommend this book to anyone interested in beekeeping with the one exception of, if you are writing a book on beekeeping use it as a guide on how not to write one.

Outstanding photography and graphics, good price
This little book is my "giveaway" to people interested in getting started in bees. It's not a complete guide by any means, but gives someone interested a basic overview. It has outstanding photos and graphics on the beekeeper's year. Has a European slant many may not like, but I found quite interesting. Great price for size and content.

OK, but not sufficient by itself for a beginning beekeeper.
This book has the advantage of a number of full-color photographs, and is interesting in that it describes how bees are apparently kept in Europe. However, it is quite brief, and a beginning beekeeper would not be able to start succesfully with only the information in this book. It should be considered to be a supplement to other texts.

A "Boomer" in Pa.
There was more basic information about real estate in general, than in second homes in particular. As most people considering a second home have already been through the buying, selling, or building a few times they know most of this stuff through experience. But I understand Tiger Woods works on the fundamentals routinely, so an evening going over the basics didn't hurt.

Pretty dry but covers some of the basics
This little book covers a lot of the basics, but I was hoping to actually see more examples of second homes. Not a pretty book but, as I said, it gives basic information. Just wasn't what I was looking for. I know a lot of home buying and shopping basics, and a lot of it is common sense. I wanted something a little more inspiring.

good basic book
This is a good book particularly for first time buyers. About half the information is devoted to general real estate matters, and half specifically to second homes in particular. More specific information about specific problems and advantages in certain areas would help (what to look for in beachfront property, mountain property, etc.). Competent but not the only resource you'll want to read.

Includes lots of stories. Lacks strategy.
Would not recommend for the novice investor. Lacks the guidance that is needed in the beginning of real estate investment. Not informative at all.

Save your money
I picked this book up because I liked the title. House flipping for fun and profit. This is what I do for a living and have been very successful at it. I believe that you get what you pay for. $11.96 for the book and $11.96 worth of useful information, and that is being very generous. If my daughter hadn't accidentally spilled grape juice on the book, I would ask for my money back.

Enjoyable Reading
I found this book extremely helpful in getting started in real estate investment. It included helpful tips and the chapters flowed together in a comprehensive guide. Definitely worth the money. I have spent more $$ on other books that were nowhere near as helpful. I highly recommend this to other people who are interested in getting started in flipping properties. As you can tell from his successful real estate investing, he obviously practices what he preaches. This book isn't meant to be a complete guide to real estate investing. You need to do your own homework, too, which the other reviewers obviously have not done.

Way out of date
May have been slightly, very slightly, useful in the 1980's but not now. Written about a limited demographic -- Silver Spring, Maryland -- and not worth wasting your time over.

Trite
Nothing anyone with common sense couldn't figure out for himself. Don't waste your money. I knew the author and could fill a book myself with stories of his unprofessionalism. I suspect the good review was by a relative. There are much better books than this one.

Everything You Need to Know to Sell Your Home... Now!
Whether you're a first time home seller or a veteran to the residential real estate market, this book is an excellent reference. Full of practical, common sense advice, Gregory Lerch writes in a clearly professional, yet friendly and approachable style. His personal anecdotes and timeless tips cover all of the bases from marketing to accepting a contract for sale. It's all here, including an extensive section of samples of contracts, closing and related documents. This comprehensive resource is the only one you'll need.

Desperately needs a rewrite
This was probably a fine book when it was first written in the early 1980s, but it's been badly (cheaply?) updated since. It's now almost incoherent -- certainly not up to the standard set by some of the (excellent) other books in this series (Corvette, Mercedes, Ferrari). Needs a cover-to-cover rewrite, done by someone knowledgable. Don't waste your money until it happens.

PaulG's review
I tend to agree with other reviewer about this book needing to be completely rewritten. Even though it was revised in 1994, the author still makes references to things occuring in 1987 "at current press time." Clearly, the original text wasn't revised. If the book was revised in 1994, these type of references should has been eliminated. Other than the text being out of date, the book itself has a lot of worthwhile information. The author rates the collectability (if that's a word) of each of the cars using a five star system.

Useful, although outdated
I disagree with other reviews that recommend you don't waste your money on it. I know of no other book that provides the information that this one does, and found it extremely useful when shopping for a BMW. I wish it included a table (which I ended up creating myself) of "Buy/Don't Buy" models.

If you don't know about BMWs, it is useful.

A general overview of VWs but not a detailed buyers guide
I bought this book for getting detailed info about vintage VWs before I tried to buy one. I disappointed after reading it because I had learned all knowledge available in this book from the World Wide Web before. This book is only for getting general information about historical background of VW cars.

Nice history book but, not a buyer's guide.
This book is a good overview of VW models and should provide an adequate starting point for those just bitten by the VW bug. Most VW fanatics, however, should know everything here. As for a buying guide, this book is not helpful as it doesn't go into detail on features available by model year and doesn't include a summary of potential problems to look out for when in the market for a used VW.

A high level overview of the marque
The author uses a "star rating" system on the possible collector value of the varied VW models since the Beetle's creation. While useful at high level, the book glosses over some of the details between model years, such as why the 1967 Beetle is sought after by folks who plan on driving 'em rather than collecting dust in the garage. Some more detail on what makes some models more desired by collectors and hobbyists would be welcome. For the beginning VW nut, this book ought to be in the collection, but the hard core VW fan, spend your money elsewhere as you know most of what is in here. Good, clear phots for the most part and the editing of the text decent.
