Better than nothing, I guess...Of course, satisfying a hard-core Ur-Q fan such as myself may be a difficult (if not impossible!) task. For those readers who've only recently come to learn that Audi was making AWD cars as far back as 1980, this book is probably a good introduction to them; for those of us already in-the-know, however, it comes across as yet another opportunity missed.
Joe HevnerGreat technical information as well as detailed photographs, and history.
Every prospective quattro owner/fan should buy this book.
Especially as info on these cars is very limited in book form.

My comments of Mr. Bumstead's bookUsing this simple procedure results in my selling 4 out of 5 of every listing I get. I don't waste weeks and months, as do other brokers, trying to sell something that is over priced and won't sell at the price the seller thinks it is worth. Why all of the brokers I know use this old fashioned outdated and time wasting procedure, I cannot understand. What they all do is to ask the seller what he/she wants, and then hurry up to sign the listing. When they have 20 of these kinds of listings, they are lucky if they sell a few and it is no wonder that a score of one sale for every 4-6 listings is the norm for the business brokerage industry. Thank you Mr. Bumstead for saving me weeks of wasted time and money and for allowing me to concentrate my valuable time with sellers who understand the logic of a fair market appraisal before going to the market place with their business. It is the only way to go. Without this simple concept from Bumstead, I would not be the successful and happy business brokerage consultant I am today.

Perhaps The Best Whisky and Liquor Tasting GuideEven the popular Laphroaig 10-year old earns only one * ("...make sure you have a whip and chair handy after opening this beastie. . .") Yet, Pacult is not a curmudgeon, he gives the 15-year old Laphroaig a 3 (out of 5): "There's still oodles of peat, but my nose cavity isn't aflame as it was with the cantankerous 10," and the strong iodine and seaweedy overtones of another Islay Whisky, the Lagavulin 15-Year Old, gets a 4 * recommendation.
Pacult favors Bowmore, Clynelish, Highland Park, Longmore, Macallan, and Springbank as "Scotland's Finest Malt Whisky Distilleries." The 12-Year old Highland Park gets a full 5 * and is praised as a glorious malt...one of my top ten malts without any hesitation; find and hoard at all costs... on the palate...the sherry races to the front just ahead of peat, mild brine, and heather...." The 12-year old Macallan gets 4 * for its nose of spice nectarine, lanolin, tannin, and cream..." and "succulent tastes of ripe blueberry, bell pepper, sweetened coconut, and peppermint." Although I didn't agree with this last description, Pacult, as always, is opinionated, descriptive, and fun to read.
Although Pacult, the editor of "Spirit Journal" magazine, has a special love for Scotch whisky, the book includes similar notes on Brandy, White Spirits (e.g., Rum, Vodka, Gin, Tequila), Liqueurs, and Fortified Wines. Whisky, including single malt, blended, American, Canadian, and Irish varieties, take up about one-fourth of the 468 pages. The book describes briefly the making and appreciation of the liquors, an explanation of the rating system, and a bibliography. For a beautiful and informative "coffee table book" focused exclusively on whisky you might want Michael Jackson's recent volume, for a fun, thorough, and thoughtful guide to liquors, including a wonderful section on whisky, get this one.

A bit thin and oriented to the big end of the scale

Starting with a tour of a coffee plantation and ending in the reader's own kitchen, Kummer leads a lively and informative discussion of all phases of coffee production, from harvesting to roasting to brewing. He discusses different roasts and the different types of coffeemakers, and he even talks about caffeine consumption and methods of decaffeination that preserve the bean's flavor. At the end of The Joy of Coffee is a chapter chock full of recipes for tasty treats that either go well with coffee or include it as an ingredient. Like a great cup of Joe, The Joy of Coffee is good to the very end.

A good plug for La Minita, otherwise worthlessThis book, essentially worthless to those interested in espresso, is completely oblivious to some famous ways of making coffee. There is no mention of café cubano and there is no mention of the traditional ways to prepare the famous Hungarian dupla....

A waste of time.
Keep LookingTo add insult to injury, Mr. Yeggie keeps stating that it is necessary to purchase his other book if you want to value a company. It would have been easy to include it here -- the other five books I read did just that.
I don't know that I could write any better -- but there are a lot of authors out there who can.

Nice book but more for inspiration than for a how to book
Reschooling the Thoroughbred
There is some brief history of Audi, a lot of racing history, and lot of turbo information, and not much else. The buying section is poor and mainly for overseas, the repairing section is only a few generic pictures and narratives and nothing usable, and the tuning only applies to turbos and high performance, nothing usable for the normal driver.
There is little about how the AWD works and how to optimally drive it for the normal driver.
A few tidbits of information, but definitly not a reference book.
There is a whole chapter on how to keep your car from being stolen, which I found silly.
Some nice pictures of race cars.
I find this an armchair book and not much else.
