It might be right for you?
The idea for such a book IS a good one. The ideas are certainly sound..... I live in a newish(6yrs) 6000+ sq ft house, with a neighborhood association, good school district(etc) and felt that this book would NOT apply to my market.... however it could be useful for someone that lives in an urban or older neighborhood.... where a house might need curb appeal or sprucing up.... the thought of adding value to a sale is always appealing no matter what the size of your 'estate' ... no matter how deep or thin your pockets are! It is always a challenge to make the most of what you have.

Common sense building of a home's equity
Offering "50 surefire techniques and strategies" to help improve the value of one's home, Irwin utilizes common sense to help owners decide where it is best to spend their money on their homes. With the recent real estate run-up (especially where I live in Southern California), the best investment we can make is in the very place we live. While I don't plan to sell in the near future, I always want to be sure my home could be ready for a sale at any time, just in case. Irwin gives dollar-sign guides as to how much value an improvement could help increase the price you could eventually ask for your property. Although very little in this book was new to me, I highly recommend it for folks who are not very sure about how to increase the value of their homes. Although there were several suggestions I questioned (especially the value he gave to some improvements and how little he valued other improvements), I believe that he used sound judgment to guide the reader. I plan on utlizing several of the improvement ideas in my own home!

Great beginner book!
Jan Foulke knows her dolls and provides interesting information about chinas. A great variety of chinas are presented, broken down by decades, from 1840's through 1930's. Photos provide side-views of fancy china heads for comparison of hairstyles. Basic information about manufacture, characteristics to look for when collecting and things to watch out for. A section is devoted to frozen charlottes. She also mentions Clear dolls and Ruth Gibbs dolls. Most photos are close-ups of the face/head, not full-view with clothing for those who are looking for costuming ideas. The only complaint is that the book is just too short!! Nice basic beginner book for the new china doll enthusiast.

A Must for Every China Doll Lover
What a wonderful book! Jan Foulke has outdone herself in this guide to china dolls. As a collector who is just tip-toeing into the world of these beautiful dolls, I was delighted to come across this helpful book. Ms. Foulke's book is filled with loads of details on identifying and dating your chinas, as well the most incredible photographs. The close-ups and comparisons of hairstyles of the various periods are invaluable to the new as well as the experienced collector. Having collected antique dolls for over 20 years, I was very familiar with the basics of china doll collecting. This book however, educates the collector in the fine art of collecting the china doll. If you don't absolutely love these dolls when you open the book, you will definitely want at least one for your collection by the time you finish!

Helpful Book
I was disappointed when I first received this book because it was so small. However, I found it packed full of many practical suggestions. My copy is well underlined. I feel it really helped us sell our home for full price two days after it was listed. I also found Terry Eilers' How to Sell Your Home Fast and Kiplinger's Buying and Selling a Home most helpful.

Extremely Informative and Helpful
I found this book to be invaluable in presenting and selling my house. I didn't realize there were so many things that I could do to properly show my home. I have recommended this book to my friends and associates who are planning on selling their home.

Excellent Choice for Self-Analysis Prior to Home Purchase
I first took this book out at the library and decided that it was so helpful that I needed to purchase it. It provides many questionnaires to help you determine what kind of house purchase is best for you (ex. new construction, fixer upper, etc.)as well as what kind of house is best for your tastes and lifestyle (ex.ranch, contemporary, split level, etc.). It's an excellent resource for first time homebuyers who may not be exactly sure what they are looking for in a home. However,I would not recommend this book to anyone who won't take the time to complete the questionnaires.

Great Book!
Very interesting book. Really made me think about what I want in my next house purchase. Written very clearly in easy to understand language.

Short and sweet
This book told me everything I needed to know to get started buying and selling on eBay. The section on etiquette, and the tips and tricks section were especially helpful.

I love the writing style, it really cuts to the chase when it comes to covering the material. In its short 29 pages I went from being pretty much of a newbie to being a confident buyer and seller, armed with some useful tips that usually only experience would bring.

It should however be noted that this guide is more for the casual user, if you're looking to start a business selling on ebay, you might want to pick up a book that focuses a bit more on selling.

Ebay in ten pages or less
If you have ever actually been on Ebay, then you will fly through this book.

After the introduction and the brief history of the company, this book jumps right n with the simple explanations of how to do just about everything on Ebay.

This is not a strategy guide for how to win auctions or get the best price for your items, but it will walk you through buying and selling in very simple language in a minimum of wordage.

If you have any questions about doing things on Ebay, this is probably the best guide for the buck.

One of the Best I've Read...
This is a guitar/vocal book. Uh, pretty original huh? Ahem. I, for one, like all songs printed herein: 502, Bad Omen, In My Darkest Hour, Into the Lungs of Hell, Mary Jane, Peace Sells, Set the World Afire, and Wake up Dead. As far as I can tell, it's accurate enough some of Wake up Dead and Set the World Afire sound wrong. Maybe it's just me.

This is a guitar tablature book (no text).
Based on the other review on amazon.com of this book, I bought it. The review said: "This book is an awesome source for an incredibly interesting historical look at a couple of Megadeth's greatist albums! It includes facts that lay behind the recording session". <---this is NOT true!

If you play guitar, this is an AWESOME book, as it is ALL tablatures for the 2 albums. There is NO text & certainly NO history or "facts behind the recording sessions".

...now I wish I DID play guitar. Dave Mustaine is an awesome musician.

Very good vision
One of the best of its type - good mix of strategic and tactical. could have been shorter

Great reference work
If you want one book explaining state-of-the-art thinking in procurement, this is the one. It has chapters on every important topic. It's not a book I would choose to read from beginning to end to learn about purchasing (unless I were a University student) but it's a good starting point for looking deeper into many topics.

Good Information on The Paid Side of Search Engine Marketing
Catherine primarily focuses this book on the paid side of search engine marketing. I am a search engine marketer and have generally worked on the "free" or optimization side of search engine marketing for the past year. I also have read at least a dozen books or ebooks on this subject.

Generally I think the return on the optimization side is much greater than on the paid side, but if you are a savy marketer using paid search engine marketing can bring rapid distributions and returns. I personally have been amazed at some of the high profile, high frequency search words which have few competitors on the market (even today.)

There is much to know about search engine marketing, and much of the info that is out there on either side (paid or optimization) is chuck full of misinformation. This book is new and kept general enough (covering a rapidly changing environment) to where there is not a bunch of misinformation. She even predicted that paid inclusion would go to a PPC model right before Yahoo! put the new system in place.

If you have enough money to be participating in paid search then this book could help you save some of it.

Casual & Interesting book for WebEntrepreneur
Catherine Zeda makes easy to understand the process of #1 search engine with easy steps to follow. There is so much way to improve a budget with the RIGHT strategy. I appreciated the $35 coupons included to test her system. I feel confident to maximise returns while minimising costs. Buy it, read it and TAKE ACTION!

A must-read before you buy a car
This practical guide to buying, financing and insuring a car (new or used) comes in compact format, so you can bring it along as you go car-shopping. It gives comprehensive coverage on negotiating on a deal, choosing the right financing alternatives, shopping for insurance, and even has a chapter on selling your car. While price negotiation coverage is not as deep as that in the excellent "What Car Dealers Don't Want You to Know," this book explains clearly the myriad terms used by the car industry, terms that are designed to confuse you into paying more than necessary.

Armed with this book, you'll be able to better understand how to get the best deal for the car you want as well as gain the confidence to do it. Highly recommended.

Provides readers with all of the background information
From the consumer's perspective, the new and used automobile marketplace has changed dramatically in recent months. Smart Wheels/Hot Deals: A Guide To The Best Car For The Right Money provides readers with all of the background information and bargaining tools they need to make smart, dollar-wise decisions about acquiring any car or truck for their personal or professional use. The topics covered including making a deal for a new car; buying versus leasing; finding the right used car; negotiating over a used car; how auto insurance works; shopping for auto insurance; making an auto insurance claim; warranties and service contracts; managing repairs; dealing with a lemon; sell a car; and getting out of a lease. If you are considering the purchase of a new or used vehicle, begin with a careful reading of Smart Wheels/Hot Deals to save money, time, and aggravation.

Insightful!
Purchasing is a critically important business function, although it lacks the glamour and excitement of, say, finance or sales. In the past, purchasing employees have often been little more than glorified clerks mired in price comparisons. Sometimes, their responsibilities included accompanying vendors to ballgames and such, activities that helped keep the purchasing pro's mind off the fact that not many CEOs seemed to come up through the purchasing department. That may already be changing. Indeed, purchasing is now a career hot spot. Several trends - such as corporate demands for cost cutting and outsourcing, new electronic markets and auctions, globalization of customers and vendors, sharper supply-chain logistics technology, and the movement to create partnerships with suppliers - make purchasing substantially more important than ever before. Author Larry Paquette offers a short, lucid, quite readable summary of the essentials of purchasing in that light. We find it an excellent, comprehensive and useful overview of sourcing.

Excellent, Practical and Easy To Read
Larry Paquette has crafted what might well become the essential handbook of best sourcing practices. This is an extremely well-written, easy-to-understand and timely guide. And though it's aimed at the purchasing/sourcing professional, anyone will find useful information on issues such as negotiating skills, ethical business practices and creating solid business relationships. Two rather extensive Reference and Suggested Reading lists are included.

Paquette's straighforward and extremely personable writing style raises the bar for business books. He takes the reader through the step-by-step process of how to negotiate the best solution possible while expertly avoiding the pitfalls that undermine future business relationships, both without and within one's organization. The book is full of practical examples, purchasing history, and lessons from the author's personal experience. The material is easy for the new purchasing/sourcing professional to grasp, yet it also offers valuable insight for the experienced business person, manager, and business owner.

However, it's the moral fiber of the book, Paquette's refreshing reinforcement that ethical behavior is still the best business practice, that brings us back to square one. Or, in the author's own words, "Anyone can question my abilities. What I never want anyone to question, is my integrity and honesty."

White collar, blue collar, or no collar at all, every working person can benefit from the wisdom and practical guidance found in The Sourcing Solution.
