Home Buyer Beware
If you're a first-time home buyer, or repeat buyer, this book should address every real estate problem, situation or issue that would arise in your venture to buy your home. Knowledge is power, so I would advise readers to prepare themselves for what may be the biggest investment of their lives. I read it five years ago, and find that it is still very relevant today.

It covers topics such as: Developing a financial strategy dealing with, and selecting real estate agents, sellers, attorneys, lenders, inspectors, escrow and title companies, deciding on a property, mobile homes, condominiums, country property, landlording, mortgages, offers and negotiating, closings, contingencies, etc.

The pros & cons - even the ones I didn't want to think about
This book was great! I can't wait to buy my horse - BUT - this book gave me enough information to know that I'm being a bit pre-mature about it. I'll wait, and when I'm a more comfortable being back in the saddle again - I'll be better prepared to buy the horse that's right for me.

Whether you just want to investigate the condition of your own home, or whether you are looking to make a major investment in a new home, this book will give you the knowledge you need to examine the building and evaluate what you find.

Designed for the non-professional, it can be used to conduct your own preliminary House Inspection or to evaluate your Inspector's report. Using the reproducible forms in the back of the book, you will have a checklist of possible trouble-spots and of the information you will need to collect to make an informed analysis.

Easy to read and easy to follow, the "tour" section takes you on a virtual tour of a typical house that prepares you for your own actual experience. The "systems" section explains how a house works, in clear language, and gives you the detailed knowledge you need to interpret your findings. The "index" allows you to quickly reference specific questions and situations that you come across. There is no easier-to-use, more accurate, more comprehensive book on house inspection available.

This should be every true patriot's second bible!
This soft cover easy to use compact book is a valuable reference tool for those who really desire to do something patriotic for this country and help keep their jobs!
Even if consumer's change just a few of their brand choices on even the most minimal purchases, it would all add up to a stronger American economy regardless of your political stance!
I was shocked to find out where the "lion's share" of the profits ended up on some of my former purchases!
This book gives the consumer more power to make their choices ACCURATELY and I cannot wait for the updated second edition this spring!

Took me by surprise!
I was recently given a copy of this book for my birthday. At first glance I thought oh, great, another book I'll never look at, but then started leafing through it. It's packed with information on things my husband and I have been recently shopping around for, like a digital camcorder and a new lawnmower. There are loads of tips on how to make the most of your money and things to watch out for. But there's also stuff I never thought of: Hire a body guard, buy bonds, sell your body to science, buy a hourse trailer, sell a used bike?-and it's funny! My husband paws through it before he goes to Home Depot to get a good read on just about everything he needs. There'll be a lot of people getting this book for Christmas.

THE BEST resource for first-time buyers (and seasoned ones)!
I bought this book when I was considering buying my first home. Not only did we find a home in the perfect neighborhood within our price range for sale by owner, but I wrote our sales agreement, coordinated all of the inspections, lawyers, title search and insurance, and more. Whether you have your own agent or represent yourself, this book is an excellent way to learn everything you need to know (really!) about buying a home. It speaks to all kinds of audiences, old and young, residents or investors, rich and poor, good credit and bad. It's very easy to understand and is outlined in a step-by-step format that's very easy to follow. All my friends think I'm an expert, but really my first answer whenever they ask me to tell them something about buying a home is, "You've got to get this book." In fact, I'm on the site today ordering a copy for a friend. By the way, Garrison also wrote an equally excellent book on selling your own home in 90 days. It works, it's important stuff to know, it's all written in a way you are sure to understand, and you'll actually enjoy it!

What You Don't Know Will Hurt You!
Having purchased two previous homes, I thought I knew all there is to know: you call up a realtor who takes you around to see houses and you pick from a 30-year or a 15-year fixed rate mortgage. Wow! Was I wrong! Thanks to Randy Johnson's latest book on using the internet to find a home and get a mortgage, I now know that there are many types of mortgages available, many of them better- tailored to most people's needs than the two I've already named. I've learned the difference between a "mortgage banker" and a "mortgage broker" and that I may save thousands of dollars by using the services of an Upfront Mortgage Broker, one who agrees to sign a pledge to act in the best interests of the customer. I now know about the advantages of automated underwriting and the difference between rate versus fee when shopping for a mortgage. Imagine my astonishment to learn that paying points for a lower rate is a good strategy that may save me thousands of dollars in the long run! The author has made a highly technical subject easy to understand through charts and personal examples. I now have access to scores of helpful internet sites and forms to download. True to the book's title, I have shopped for a home in another state, qualified for a loan and am about to obtain a mortgage, all while sitting in front of my computer! If you, too, want to SHOP SMART for a home or mortgage, this is the book for you.

How to Get Rich Buying Bankrupt Companies

Amazon base price: $4.50
Used price: $26.75

Great Book
This book was exactly what I was looking for: learn about the bankruptcy process and the rules. The author is a bankruptcy lawyer and some parts can be detailed and difficult to read... the bankruptcy process is not simple. If you are trully interested in the bankruptcy process though, you will like the details.

If you want to buy a small company one day and you are looking for a way to do it, this book is very helpful. I have a background in finance and management of small companies... so if you are unfamiliar with how the business world works, you might not appreciate this book. However, if you are like me, this book was GREAT!
