For anyone new at buying, caring, and generally knowing horses this is a must read! This book is very straight forward and easy to read and follow. Step by step guidlines are given for those who need them, and for those who don't, Jacqueline Dwelle gives readers a quicker approach. This book gives everything you need to know for buying and taking care of your first horse. It has everything from developing an equine profile to foot care, health problems, and so much more. I highly recommend this book!

I can't imagine a better book for first-time horse buyers. It's a straight-forward and common-sense guide to the purchase and care of your first (or any) horse. The thing that I like and value most from this book is Jacqueline Dwelle's emphasis on the responsibility involved with caring for your equine friend. I can highly recommend this book.

It's a shame this book is out of print, because it's such an excellent guide to choosing the right kitten. In addition to an organized overview of the breeds, the text is downright funny. And the info is useful; for example, the author identifies the vocalization each cat has, so you don't get a talker if you prefer a quiet house, and points out the health problems to watch out for.

This is truly a great book! If you are interested in a purebred cat, you need to read it. Not only does Lowell offer good advice on choosing a purebred cat, but she also offers help on adopting a mxed breed from a shelter to keep your purebred company. There is a thought-provoking, thorough questionnaire to answer, which assists in helping you to find the right cat breed. Informed buyers of dogs research breeds before buying, and prospective cat buyers should do the same if they want a healthy, happy cat or kitten. There's also a section on finding the right breeder. Be sure to get a copy BEFORE you get a cat!

If you're looking for a clear voice in the endless chatter about investing, this is the book for you. It makes sense -- something almost unheard of in financial publishing. A great investment.

I was searching for The Stooge in the Middle when I came upon this book (and also The Piano Book). Since I happened to be in the market for a piano, the reviews for The Piano Book convinced me to buy that book and so I also bought this companion book. Before, I barely knew one piano from another. Now I know so much I cannot decide. BTW, Larry Fine of the 3 Stooges was also an accomplished musician.

An excelent tool for the acquisition of american books and audio books, maps, teaching materials, etc. Contains reproductions of the commercial catalogues of US'publishers and booksellers. In this work, major catalogues are ordered alphabetically. It has three indexes: 1, Index to Publishers, with complete addresses; 2. Subject Index to Publishers; and 3. Index to Publishers' Series. The main advantage of this guide is the union of numerous publisher's catalogues in one source. It helps to purchasers and librarians in the search of information.

If you are in the market for a new piano, BUY THIS BOOK. This book is the only source I found for new piano pricing information. By using the information in this book, I saved over 25% on my new piano.

I also recommend The Piano Book which provides a great overview of piano mechanics, new piano manufacturers, and choosing a good used piano.

In general, this book provides a very good reference for those of us who need constant information to pursue perfection in our sport. If you can't find what you are looking for in this reference, then there is something wrong.

I checked several books out of the library on this subject, but this is the only one I read cover to cover. It is a breeze to read. The writer adds examples from her own experience which are interesting and keep it from being a dry how-to book. The tips are very straightforward and useful. Maybe some of the steps are common sense, such as cleaning and de-cluttering the house for sale, but she adds some extra tips, such as the best place to quickly stash your junk mail & other clutter before a showing (where won't they look?). Many of the tips focus on less obvious aspects of selling, such as what wording to look out for before signing a listing contract. I appreciate the fact that the author recommends honesty to home sellers - fix or disclose problems with the house rather than covering them up. Most home inspectors will find everything anyway, and a seller who seems to be hiding something will raise red flags with buyers. I found it to be an enjoyable and helpful book.
