A Must Have
This book was by far the most valuable one I purchased while I was car hunting. I would reccommend it to anyone who has either no experience or overwhelming exeperience with buying cars, and to read it before they buy their next one. A little dated, but a short read with nothing but the facts you need.

What an eye opener!!!
My sister bought this book and saved several hundred dollars at a dealership in Canada and then suggested I buy this book. I bought a Saturn, no haggling, BUT I did learn A LOT about buying a car. There were a few things that I was able to save money on even though it was a Saturn. I have suggested this book to a clerk at Geico and even the person I am dealing with by e-mail in the Customer service dept. at SATURN. The book answers a lot of common sense questions and lets you know about things I NEVER would have thought to ask about. If you are going to buy a car...buy this book first and study it!!!

Excellent resource! Saved me hundreds of dollars. I lent it
This is an excellent book - very easy to read and understand. I was amazed at the tricks that salesmen pull and found the advice very helpful. I lent this book to a friend buying a new car and he saved $200 off what he thought was going to be his best deal.

Good book
I liked SPIN SELLING better as they both covered the same ground with similar approach, but SPIN SELLING seemed better researched and had 4 steps where this had 9. Spin Selling was a better read too.

However, it is entirely possible that had I read this before reading Spin Selling, I would have gained more from this, and hence liked it more.

The book to read and the book to keep!
Once you have read it, you would want to share it with others. This is how good Michael Bosworth's book "Solution Selling" is. From clarifying the difference between Features, Advantages and Benefits (which a lot of sales people still mixed up), to complex solution selling process, the book has given losts of good illustration with practical examples. Especially in "3 levels of buyers needs", "10 faces of buyer pain", "Price Negotiation" etc.

The book uses the buyers' prespective to help readers to understand what the buyers think at each stage in their decision process which is a good way to demonstrate his theory behind.

Solution selling is a long and complex process, with the approach and process Bosworth described, it helps a lot in defining the actions and precautions we need to take in day to day solution selling process.

If I can only pick one of the chapters in the book, I must recommend you to read, at least, how Bosworth uses the "9-block vision processing model" to see solution selling in the buyer's viewpoint, steps by steps showing what a solution sales/consultant should react in response to different level of the buyer's pain.

If I have knew/bought this book earlier, I might not need to spend my last few years going through the hard way. It is definitely a book to read and the book to keep ...

The standard in high value selling
I read the book the first time for enjoyment. Then I read it again to help me start implementing solution selling. If you sell high value high dollar software or services this is a must read. In fact, I work with several sales people in my company that use the techniques in this book and they have been extremely successful. The book is easy to follow and you will notice changes right away if you implement solution selling. It is really focused on controlling the buying process.

Beat the Car Salesman
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Avon (June, 1998)
Author: Michael Royce

Used price: $6.50

You can do better
I feel like I wasted my time and money on this book. The only thing it has going for it is its catchy title. Unfortunately, with advice from the author like "Whatever you do, don't buy a car today" and "A good trick is to detour through the drive-thru of a fast-food join and buy the saleman a soda." I feel this book teaches you very little about how to Beat the Car Salesman unless you were born yesterday.

Indispensible Guide For All Car Buyers
This book is, hands down, the best defense against the evil forces out there known as CAR SALESMEN! I found that after reading it I bought my Pathfinder with confidence, skill and the absolute certainty that I had saved myself time and money. Mr. Royce's book is User Friendly and personable. A great gift for anyone contemplating a new car.

A "must-read" book for every car buyer!
I can't imagine buying my new car without reading this book first. The author reveals, in a very friendly down-to-earth manner, exactly what the car salesman is up to and what the buyer should do and say to beat the salesman at his own game. I followed the book's five steps and I saved not just lots of money but, just as importantly, lots and lots of time.

A Buyer's Market

Used price: $250.00

I'm warming up to this series
The second novel in the 12-part Dance to the Music of Time series. I enjoyed this one a little more than the first volume. I believe this due to the first volume's need to introduce and elaborate on the four main characters. Nicholas Jenkins, our narrator, who I complained about being almost invisible in the first book, starts taking on shape here, dissembling on love and ambition. Stringham and Templar are still here, and by the end of the book, both married, but the real main character here is Widmerpool, the young man with the least social status, but with the most ambition of the four.

The first book was about the four in grade school to university; this one is about their initial entry into society, including romance and marriage. It is within the context of his feelings for the opposite sex that we finally start to understand Jenkins, but even he is overshadowed here by the fumblings and failings of Widmerpool, who first pines for the heart of Barbara, then falls in with a "bad" girl.

I'm still unsure whether Powell is a writer for me. Although I do enjoy mysteries and puzzles and admire books that are clever, I still like to get a feeling that I have solved the mystery by the end of the book. I believe that a character here gets an abortion, but as it is never spelled out (Jenkins is too much a gentlemen to actually put it into raw language), I wonder if I am reading between the lines correctly.

After the first book, I was not sure that I would continue the series, but since I have the first three in an omnibus volume, I decided to continue on. If the following books make the same jump in readability and interest as between the first two, the twelfth book will likely be my all-time-favorite novel.

The adventures of Lennon-McCartney as told by a Quarryman
I've always been interested in the Beatles early days so this book was a must. Fellow (Quarrymen)bandmate Len Gerry does a good job documenting the first gigs, run-ins with Teddy Boy gangs, and the significance of Penny Lane. I could have done with less of Garry's personal biography, but I mourned along with him as he told of the loss of his friend John Lennon.

M&A : A to Z
Serves as an excellent introduction into the valuation of small to middle market companies. Basic valuation techniques along with strategic possibilities and guidance through the M&A process, including synergistic possibilities and affects on purchase price. Could be more involved on the psychological effects and pressures/demands on the seller/buyer?

Complete Guide to Used Cars 2002 (Complete Guide to Used Cars, 2002)

Wheres the value
Consumer Guide completely misses the mark here. They miss major and minor defects with automobiles. For example, they missed paint defects, and head gasket problems with my 1994 Mercury Cougar whereas Lemonaid Guide to Used Cars caught all problems I have encountered.

It appears all vehicles are presented in a positive light and that is not the case. Don't waste your money here. Lemonaid Guide to Used Cars is a far superior choice.
