This book contains information not found in any other book on the history of early California.It is a very complete history of the builders and buildngs during the Spanish era. Part II contains the names of the Spanish artisans, the California Indian Artisans, and Foreign Artisans. It gives biographical informahtion about the artisans as well as details of their families. An excellant resource.

"C# Builder Kick Start" is not just an intro to the subject, but the standard text that no one should be without. I was attracted to this author because of his previous great book entitled "C# Unleashed". If you desire the power and quick development of C# Builder, then this is THE book to take you by the hand and lead you into tremendous productivity. I highly recommend it!
Going through this book carefully, you will not only learn, but you will "own" the technologies of C#, the .NET platform and C# Builder. I appreciate the foundational concepts that are established and then built upon step by step. The following subjects are comfortably dealt with; basic and advanced C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, Debugging, Forms, Security, Events, Web Services, XML, with many others.
The code samples are thought out and well written so that you will probably use them with your own projects. I can't imagine a book better written, more concise or able to make you more productive. Kudos once again to author Joe Mayo!

i used this book to review for the GRE chemistry exam and I was blown away by the book's thorough review of all relevent information. This book would be useful for anyone who has to take a standardized test focusing on chemistry!

I learned about these disks while at Texas A&M University. They use these for the freshman there and have found them very helpful. There are a couple versions: one for Intro Chem (high school level) and one for General Chem (basic college level). The disks allow you to do problems over and over and they give feedback all along, letting you know what you did wrong and allow you to fix it. There are some animations, too, which helps with chemistry. Scores are saved and the highest score per section is retained. This is perhaps the BEST homework and tutorial disk I have ever seen for chemistry. It's not too flashy so it's easy to learn and do. I highly recommend.

Academy Editions has done a fabulous job in creating a fine documentation of architectural innovations pertaining to modern places of worship. Whether you're an architect or not, you'll find this fascinating.

Throughout the first third of the book, Edwin Heathcote exhibits a broadly based and well-researched background in covering the advancement in concepts which influenced church design and construction through the 1900's. Citing numerous architectural trend setters, Mr. Heathcote describes in an eruditious manner the relationship between theology, liturgical reform, and modernism, and how they contributed to the "expression of piety" seen in today's church building throughout the world.

The remainder of the book is entitled "Movements of the Spirit," in which Iona Spens compiles a series of "portfolios" from noted architects/firms, and supplements her text with excellent photos, plans and elevations. The color photography, both of interiors and exteriors, is downright breathtaking in many cases, and does great justice to the defining, creative aspects of each church.

This is the second "Builders" book I've bought (the other being "Airport Builders"), and I like this one the best simply because the photography is more easily able to capture the essence of the architectural creation. As with the other, this edition is of the highest quality: bound well, and printed on the best paper. Highest recommendation.

This book is the best one I have found on this subject. It's well written and very user friendly. This book will teach you what you need in your construction documents. I read about 4 to 5 books a month on a variety of construction subjects and this is the best one I've found on legal documents

Culture builders was one of the first anthropology books I read, and now some 6 years later, I still count it among the best ones I have read. Its importance to me was in the fact that it introduced me to the anthropology of lot of really interesting concepts: dirt, love, time, sex. Immediately after reading this book I ran out and got Mary Douglas's Purity and Danger. What Mary Douglas does for Leviticus, and in general, Culture Builders does for the 18th century Swedish middle-class. If you are interested in Douglas, then I would recommend this book for another application of her views.

Paul violi is a magical man and a magical poet. His poems exude his unique awareness of humor, conflict, sadness, and thoughtful experience that only this man could capture in words. If you are ever in the new york city area, keep your head to the ground for a reading by Mr. Violi. Every so often, he can be found at one location or another reading his work. In person, he is even more fascinating than his poems let on. Also, he just came out with a new book of poems called Fracas, which is amazing. GO GET IT!
