Outrageously practical - full of tips!
The authors compare the fragrance of the home to the atmosphere that is created by the parents. It revolves around the acrostic "A-R-O-M-A" which stands for Affection, Respect, Order, Merriment, and Affirmation. The foundation for each word in the acrostic is first set up in the chapter, then practical guidelines are suggested and each chapter ends with a plethora of practical tips.

Many family books come across judgmental. This book does not. It points out some errors found in every home, and helps the reader find solutions.

It is one book in the line of many books produced by Heritage Builders Association, a network of families intent on passing a healthy legacy to the next generation.

Would love to buy the FOKES SENTENCE BUILDER
The FOKES SENTENCE BUILDER and its EXPANSION KIT were designed to teach deaf, aphasic, apraxic, and ESL/EFL students how to put sentences together in English. It is one of the most fantastic teaching materials ever created! All over the internet there are parents, teachers (like me) and therapists, looking anywhere on earth for this kit. Most of us are willing to pay huge prices to get this, but very few are still in existence since production was stopped in 1979. One would think that a classic teaching tool like this would be manufactured again, with such a demand for it!

Building a hot flathead?
Thinking of modifying that old flathead V8? If so, pick up this book, lots of really good hot rod stuff to help that flathead perform bette than before. Good tips on fuel, oil, heads, and all other aspects of building a hot rod flathead. Written by Frank Oddo, of Street Rodder magazine fame, this book is similar to the year long buildup they had a few years ago in Street Rodder. Excellent reference for building a non stock flathead

Frame Carpentry (Fine Homebuilding Builder's Library)

Excellent framing "manual"
If you are a framer or a beginer getting ready to build a new home, I would recommend you buy this book immediately! It is chock full of articles from Fine Homebuilding specifically discussing framing...pretty much every aspect of framing a house in a step-by-step method. It even discusses framing a pressure treated basement and building a scale model of the home before building it (something I will do next time I build a house). Pictures are pretty good (it does a great job illustrating framing a gable dormer...something I couldn't find until too late when I was building my house.) I did forget to add that I am in the middle of building my own house, and found this to be exactly what was needed.

Fraternity of the Builders
Published in Paperback by Kessinger Publishing Company (March, 1997)
Author: E. Valentia Straiton

Very interesting...
This book is strange, to say the least. I think it is never officially published in Straiton's time, and I think this is, most of the time, a blessing. You can see the way Straiton thinks, the mind paths followed. Things you normally don't see anymore when editors have their chance to rewrite a book.

This book is really overloaded with facts, thoughts, links etc. etc. Considering it is probably written in about 1910-1920's, it is really great to see that Straiton was superior in linking facts and so tell a convincing story.

'New' Stories that are published the last ten, twenty years, about the missing femininity in Christianity, links between knights Templars, freemasonry etc., explanation of all kinds of ancient symbols, its ALL in this book AND MUCH, MUCH MORE.

One drawback is, here the missing editor comes in, there are only few links from where Straiton's facts originate. Straiton's overwhelming knowledge is written down with only little literature references, so it's very hard to check these facts. There are some references found, but you would like to see many, many more.

All in all it is a very interesting book, and a pleasure to read and to think about again and again, and again and again...

A solid chapter of Alaskan history
Get Mears! Frederick Mears: Builder Of The Alaska Railroad by Katharine Carson Crittenden is the eye-opening story of Colonel Frederick Mears (1878-1939), who was appointed by President Wilson in 1914 and served as chief engineer and later chairman of the Alaska Engineering Commission until 1923. It would be his mission to oversee the forging of the Alaskan Railroad, an act that would forever change the state, its wilderness, and the people who lived there. A solid chapter of Alaskan history and the amazing life of a determined and visionary man mark this incredible read, Get Mears! is especially recommended for students of railroading history. An excellent resource for your home!
My 3 year old and I really enjoyed this book! The illustrations are lovely and inviting and flow well with the poetic text. It's refreshing to find a Christian children's book that isn't trite and full of "twaddle". I like this book so much I'm buying several copies for gifts. Very well done, Focus on the Family and Heritage Builders!
