You Can be free from porn, forever!
Pornography gets into your mind, your soul, and your heart. It interrupts your relationship with your wife, your God, and yourself. It makes Christian men feel like impostors, hypocrites, like a public Christian/private sinner. This book can lead you to the freedom Jesus Christ offers - freedom forever from the bondage of pornography, masturbation, and lust. This book is not what frees, it's the love and grace of God that does that. This book just guides you there with daily Scripture and Biblical priciples to apply to your struggle. The online course... is based on this book, and is free. After 15 years of bondage to porn, God has set me free.

Excellent Application
I took the 60 day online version of this booklet and it has been extremely helpful. I had been fighting sexual addiction for quite some time in my Christian walk, and had never gained a lasting freedrom from the bondage pornography was holding me in - 10+ years.

There are many great, practical truths in these lessons. It's scripturally focused, and Jesus-centered. It has helped me regain my focus on the cross, my bible study and prayer life. God has completely changed my life through this. This course is bringing much glory to God, and I hope many other people can find freedom in Christ through this ministry.

I highly recommend this book/course. Freedom is waiting!

This book gives you exactly what it promises: pure freedom!
I went to Bible College and Seminary, but I have never seen a book like this! This book will have you drinking and feasting on the Word of God rather than just studying it or trying to find an impressive sermon illustration!!! This book is great no matter what you are addicted to. It will encourage you to stop drinking from whatever "fountain" has you in it's grip. And like everyone else said, the book will not set you free, GOD DOES THAT!

Reassuring and helpful
If you are a college student majoring in television production, you know that internships are the only key to getting a career in the field. This book will be a vital asset to anyone fighting to secure an internship in the field of broadcasting.

While many of the suggestions on actions one should take and how one should behave were things I found to be common sense, it was reassuring to read them being suggested in this book, not only by the authors but by the countless TV professionals that they quoted throughout the book.

There were also several suggestions made that I wouldn't have thought of. I'm so glad that I read this book before I began my search for an internship. Now that I am in the middle of working as an intern for a local PBS station, I continue to find the book's suggestions helpful. I consult it every once in a while for new ideas.

Useful and easy to read!!!
This book is a useful source for everyone in need of advice regarding interning in the media industry. From day one of looking for your dream internship Breaking Into Television holds your hand. This book guides you from the interview to your first day, and then into making your internship into a potential career. After reading this book you feel motivated and informed to become a "super intern".

This book got me the job!
If you want to get an internship in the television industry, this is the book for you! You can tailor the suggestions to fit your situation, but the author tells you what you need to know and the order in which to do it. One of my future co-workers was even quoted in the book! Run, do not walk to get this book and study it carefully -- I'll see your name in the credits when you do!

Greg Louganis won back-to-back double gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, and his amazing physique and handsome face should have made him a media superstar. Yet Louganis's struggles with self-doubt lack of confidence held him back personally and professionally. He only achieved real happiness after coming out as an HIV-positive gay man. This is a thoughtful, sensitive portrait of a man whose insecurities nearly destroyed him, but who found the love and inner strength to save himself.

The most amazing autobiography I've ever read
The first time ever I heard about Greg Louganis was when a friend of mine told me he had bought Greg's autobiography back in 1995. Early this year I learned more about him on the Discovery Channel during a documentary about the Olympics. I could say I was impressed by his achievements, other than getting to know that he was a diver and the best of his kind (hey!...I was 12 at the time of his retirement and in my country diving is not much of a hit). Later on I got to see the movie based on his book, which really struck me. My interest grew so much that the first time I surfed by at Amazon, "Breaking the surface" was the first book I decided to pick up. This opus is not only another ordinary autobiography, because it's at the same time a learning about human life and qualities. The book starts describing that well-known accident he had on the springboard back in 1988 and goes on with his childhood up to his current days. Each chapter is a challenge because each one not only narrates an achievement, in some way, in his life, but also an amalgam of feelings all of which relates the reader to the writer. The book is far beyond a recount of Greg's accomplishments as a diver, but it's a story that digs deeply into his personality revealing the most traumatic episodes of his life. It's not only a story about AIDS and homosexuality, since it also deals with discrimination, dyslexia and Greg's so impeding moodiness. This biography is hard to get through, not because it's boring or flat, but because there are so much emotions involved. "Breaking the surface" is a book destined to make changes, changes in your look at valuable things that will help you to cast prejudices away. "Breaking..." is unforgettable as well as a book worthy of reading. An enjoyable experience that will make you love Greg because of who he is rather than what his celebrity means. Oh, by the way, tears tend to drop.

One of the most heart-felt and sincere books yet.
Greg has written a book that is touching the hearts of so many people. As a young college student, I myself have had to overcome my sexuality and my HIV status. I finally met Greg on February 15th at the University of Miami, and it reinforced the idea of what a wonderful person he is. Greg's book is definitely one in a million. It's a must read for gays and straights, and people who are HIV positive and negative. His strength is capable of helping all of us live a more productive life... and to be happy with ourselves.

Hallelujah
I love this book so much that I cant stop reading it I even got a personalized autograph from Greg Louganis. It is so good to know that there are gay people who write books about themselves.

Take the Journey
Take this journey with brothers Scott (the narrator) and Timm (the mural artist) and their tiny friends THE DROPAS on a fast paced adventure to save the future world.

This is an easy reading story with creatively illustrated people, places and things that literally come to life.

The message it sends is one of brotherhood, compassion fo all mankind and finding goodness in all. It also illustrates what a powerful tool positive thoughts and actions can become when a community is committed to a common good.

The awesome cover artwork only hints at the equally awesome story inside. Can't wait for the sequel to see what the DROPAS are up to next.

Unique! - Art becomes an Army
A fun fantasy adventure to a possible future. The book has very creative characters, especially the assistant, Pockets. I couldn't get enough of the Dropas and their carefree approach to life. I hope to read more about them in a Book II. The art work on the cover alone is reason enough to get the book. I keep it face forward on my bookshelf to enjoy it. The artwork is so good that I'd like to see some illustrations or art within the book too.

An easy going read and thoughtful rendition of the ageless story of good vs. evil.

Innovative, Inspiring, Incredible
What I first assumed to be a fantasy novel geared toward adolescent readers turned out to be a sincere and touching story with a message that appeals to any age. As a person who is committed to operating from a thought system based on love and not fear (the guiding principle taught in A Course In Miracles), the story line of The Dropas took me on an inspiring journey that spoke directly to that principle that I hold so dear. Underneath the adventure of Scott, Timm, the quirky Dropas and the rest of the crew lies a deeply meaningful message about the spiritual healing of the world. It is proof positive that seemingly small individual acts of love and kindness have a far reaching power. And that when like-minded folks band together in the name of love, critical mass is achieved and voila! - Good will always triumph over evil! That underlying message prevalent in The Dropas is so uplifting to me! And for that, I will read it over and over again, until the pages are tattered and the print is worn away. Book II, Transcendental Journey, takes the theme even further. It is obvious from the evolution of Etters' writing style and character development from Book One to Book Two that the author, along with his readers, is on his own, very personal journey. These books have enlightened me, compelling me to look at this world and my impact on it in a new, more compassionate and generous way. I highly recommend the first two books in this series, and eagerly await the conclusion to the trilogy.

A Good Look At The NLP
For anyone interested in third party politics, this book offers a good snapshot of the Natural Law Party, which, along with the Libertarian, Reform, and Constitution parties stands as one of the "major minors" -- often on the ballot, with a fairly professional operation. That said, much of the book drags, as Roth preaches about NLP views on several issues at great length, and gives short shrift to the party's actual plans for future electoral action. Perhaps silliest -- though most telling about what a minor party must face -- is a lengthy section about the creation and publicity of just one press release.

a cogent review of what this new party has to offer to all
Robert Roth has put into plain language what the Natural Law Party is all about. What is more, his account of events during the last presidential campaign and beyond is as entertaining as it is informative. This is a book you'll find hard to put down. Once you finally do, you'll find your thoughts about the political process have been changed forever, and for the good!

There are few 'must reads' in the field of politics, particularly if you're not a politician. However, this book is a 'must read' for anyone who is even thinking of casting a vote. Finally, there is a breath of fresh air on the American political scene, with a voice we can understand, because it is our own.

Why Third Party politics is vital to our nation
I really enjoyed this book. Robert Roth does an excellent job of entertaining and informing the reader on the need for more choices in our own political system. He shows how, in spite of all the hype that we are the greatest democracy on Earth and export democracy around the world, but in fact the US is really one of the least democratic nations when it comes to our own political and governmental systems. The iron grip of the two party system virtually guarantees that no new ideas or voices can be heard in any political forum or debate and how this is to the determent of the nations as a whole. He gives wonderful examples of what third parties and what the Natural Law Party in particular can do to bring a fresh and vital breath of new, simple and proven ways to look at our nation's challenges. And he does so in a very entertaining way! I encourage everyone to read this book not only for their own benefit but also for the benefit of the country.

Breaking Out of Beginner's Spanish

Average review score:

Not so much a language book as a guide into another culture
You may as well be trying to learn Latin with most Spanish books. Not only are they dry and boring, they are absolutely lifeless! Keenan presents Spanish as a living language, full of real life examples and situations (and I don't mean asking the maid in your hotel room for more towels!) I have read this book until the pages have fallen out. Take it from someone who followed Keenan's advice, went to Mexico, and started talking to the locals - you will never find a more helpful resource for your sojourn. The section on invectives and obcenities is worth the price of admission. You may never have an inclination to use any of these words, but I guarantee you it is very, very useful knowing when they are being used toward you. Finally, never have I encountered a Spanish language book which enlightens one as to why everything in Spanish is reversed, e.g. blanca y negra for black and white. Keenan's wonderful book helps you get inside the Spanish speaker's mind and world to the extent that you might just realize it is the English speaker that has everything backwards.

Breaking Out of Beginner's Spanish
My personal thanks to Joseph Keenan for this book, which has been most helpful and invaluable to me. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide to the nuances of grammer, this is not it! :o) This is an entertaining cultural guide to the language! It is funny, which helps me to remember the material presented. I am part Latina, have studied Spanish for years, and have traveled to 7 Spanish speaking countries, and no one thing has done more to improve my Spanish than this book! Now when I speak native speakers comment with surprise at how natural my Spanish sounds. Another plus for this book is that the author goes to great pains to teach you how not to slip up, sound stupid, or unintentionally offend. Joseph Keenan remembers what it was like to be the gringo struggling with the language, and plays the part of the fluent friend you wish you had with you on that last trip to Latin America! Thanks Joseph!!!

More Spanish Books Like This One, Please!
Where was this book when I was in college? Most textbooks are boring sleep inducers. Most books confuse rather than enlighten when it comes to explaining grammar and vocabulary. Not this one. Keenan's explanation of the subjunctive mode is soooo easy and simple. It's the best I've ever seen and I have been teaching a long time. His answer for the future tense is great also. Just recognize it and forget about using it. His examples for the specific use of vocabulary and idioms are full of humor and cultural insight. It's a book that you wish had a sequel.

Success Bound: Breaking Free of Mediocrity

Surefire Success Strategies - It's Dummyproof!
Randy shows CLEAR command over the strategies for taking lemons and making lemonade. What you focus on in life is what you get more of. By focusing on success, the universe will send more your way. Some of the most successful people in the world triumph not because they are better or smarter, but because they keep on trying. If you look at failures as "learning opportunities" in disguise, you'll see how small hiccups in life can help you to be wiser and stronger. Fear can stop you from trying. If you put fear aside and focus on the prize, you'll find yourself moving quickly to the top.

In Proverbs 8:18 God says, "I can make your rich and famous, important and successful." God wants for us to live rich and abundant lives. When we live empowered lives, we have more to offer the world.

Thanks Randy for a truly inspiring book!

Randy Gilbert's "Success Bound"
One of the first things that impressed me about Randy's book is that he summarizes and then builds on all the great teachers of self-improvement, including some of the greatest names in sales and marketing of all time, e.g., Charles Schwab - the man responsible first for selling the idea of US Steel and then developing our modern investment system. Randy also quotes Napoleon Hill, one of my personal favorites, whose book "Think and Grow Rich" is required reading for any marketer/sales person.

If you do not own any self help books or have never read any, "Success Bound" is as good a place to start as any. This book will serve as an excellent introduction to who you should read and gives you a basic introduction to each teacher's ideas.

What is more important about "Success Bound" is that Randy takes the lessons of each of these masters of motivation and synthesizes them into a coherent system based on the premise that to really take control of your life and your own success, you need to be proactive rather than reactive.

The major focus of Randy's proactive approach to success is for each of us to change how we look at and deal with "failure." Randy's proactive approach uses "failure" not as a defeat but rather as a victory. With each failure we eliminate a wrong option in our lives - something that we were not meant to do, and thus bringing us closer to finding out what it is that we are supposed to do. He uses the story of how Thomas Edison tested over a thousand possible filament fibers before he found the one that worked. Edison never labeled all those that did not work as "failures," but rather as one more step on the road to a successful light bulb.

Failure is not something to fear, but something we use to teach us what we need to do in order to succeed. Much of what Randy presents has been said by others. What Randy does that is different is that he actually shows you how to use failure to become successful. As Randy says in his foreword, "There are many books about how to succeed in a myriad of ways. Failure is a subject that is always mentioned, but never fully explained. Some of them go as far as to say that you cannot succeed unless you first learn how to fail; and then leave you hanging." Randy does NOT leave you hanging.

In "Success Bound" Randy presents twenty-one strategies for learning how to fail in a way that leads to ultimate success. I am not quite halfway though my first intensive reading of this book, but already I know that I will read and re-read this book for years to come. I was a bit skeptical when I first started to read this book, even though it comes with some very powerful testimonials from people whose opinions I value, like Jay Conrad Levinson. I want to go on the record saying that this book far exceeded my expectations and is worth considerably more than what Randy is charging for it.

I strongly recommend that you consider adding this book to your personal library.

(...)

GREAT BOOK!
Great book by a great guy. Randy outlines in this book in clear terms what is takes to be success bound, successful. What makes this book unique is that it's written by someone who really lives this stuff. If you contact Randy and talk to him for just a few minutes you will see exactly what I mean.

By the way, Randy is a devout Christian, and he uses many verses from the old and the new testament as references in his book. I happen to like his spiritually and appreciate his dedication to his religious beliefs--even though I am not a Christian, I am a Jewish soul.

To achieve success, you need to read books like this one. I highly recommend you reading this book.

This book helped me become more proactive!

...I feel like I just saw a WONDERFUL movie!
"Breaking the Silence" is the best book I've read in a long time --maybe since Diane's last book. Diane Chamberlain has a unique style that invites the reader into the world of her making, you feel like you're part of the story, not just a bystander. The story flows so smoothly from the present to the past that I found myself caught up in its drama, also in the lives of the charaters, wondering about them well after I had finished the book. Oprah, Why haven't you discovered this authur? All Diane's books are GREAT!

DIANE CHAMBERLAIN RULES!!!
The talented Diane Chamberlain, whose KEEPER OF THE LIGHT was one of the most innovative romances of the 90s, doesn't disappoint with BREAKING THE SILENCE. Rich and multi-layered, this is a novel of deep emotion. Delving into the world of human experimentation in a psychiatric hospital through Sarah's eyes, the book is at once disturbing and at the same time a beautiful testament to true love. The reader gets a bonus with BREAKING THE SILENCE which is essentially two books in one -- the story of Sarah's life from the 1930s to the late 1950s and then the budding relationship between Laura and Dylan. Chamberlain has woven the two together is such a spectacular way with twists and turns keeping the reader up into the wee hours of the night. This is an exceptional read and a keeper in every sense of the word

Absolutely absorbing and diverting!
I recently had a very stressful three-day weekend during which I could barely sit still. But in an attempt to get my mind off the stress, I picked up this book. Wow, I couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end. I really loved the story, it was sad, beautiful, happy and 'all that'. I actually shed a tear at the satisfying end of the novel. Good job Chamberlain! I will be reading more of her work as soon as possible.
Thank you to the author for getting my mind off some awful stress.

An empty read
This book served no purpose other than it's nice contact indices in the back (for which I gave the 1 star). Other than that, it was a waste of money. I wish I had bought it at Borders so that I could have skimmed through it first. Then I could have also just ripped out the index list and taken it home. Shhh! Don't tell anyone.

I wish I'd read it six months/several 1000 dollars ago
Breaking Into Film by Kenna McHugh Reviewed by Alan Dorfman

Have you ever spent $7.50 on a movie? Have you ever considered a career in film? Well, for the cost of only two movie admissions, independent film producer, writer and public relations professional Kenna McHugh has provided you with your ticket to that career. In her own words, "It is a step by step manual on how to get work in film." Be forewarned, however, it is about getting work behind the cameras. This is not a book meant for inspiring actors, screenwriters or directors.

Actually, McHugh has provided a realistic blueprint for a career in any field. The information she offers about networking, letter writing and interviewing is the same you'd receive from any certified career counselor, but, at $14.95, for a lot less money.

Admittedly, a lot of the information here should be obvious. To get your foot in the door, offer to work for free or try to get an internship. If you get that foot in that door, show up on time (preferably early), have a great, positive attitude, work hard and never lie. A much repeated mantra is "Act like a pro before you are one."

The real value of this book comes from its sample letters, its checklists and the many lists of contacts for networking, including production companies, film studios, industry publications and professional organizations. These are found throughout the book and in three appendixes.

Having worked extensively with a career counselor, most of the information here was not new to me. This made for a less interesting read. My guess is that the average reader will find much of this information a revelation and be thoroughly fascinated.

This book should be required reading for all first year film students. I wish I'd read it six months and several thousand dollars ago.

Tools necessary to get your foot in the door
Reviewed by Melissa Katherine Lankhaar

Like many, if not all, of the film students that surround me, I hope to one day break into the film industry. We've all had those visions, those dreams where our first spec script is recognized for its inherent brilliance and sold for six figures. Surprisingly, beyond that many film students have little idea how they're really going to break into the industry; we've heard how difficult it's supposed to be, but don't want to think about it until we have to.

Thankfully, Kenna McHugh explores this somewhat intimidating terrain in her informative book, Breaking into Film. McHugh recognizes how unfamilar the film industry and its innerworkings are to so many, and how few of us really understand what truly goes on behind the camera. Sure, we all know that a film needs a writer, a director, and a producer behind the camera, but how many of us know exactly what it is a gaffer or a unit publicist does? McHugh begins her book with an introduction of sorts to the industry, providing the reader with a working knowledge of what goes on behind the camera, and detailing the myraid of possible jobs available to an eager, motivated individual. With the groundwork thoroughly laid, McHugh moves on to the all important issues of networking, interviewing, and breaking into the industry. By the time the book is completed, the author has given us a richly detailed portrait of the tools necessary to get a foot in the door, and the additional knowledge and information to advance that position.

Breaking into Film is a book aimed at an audience that knows next to nothing about the industry. Thus, while the book is highly informative and useful, the writing style employed by McHugh is at times grating. The eternal optimism and eagerness of McHugh's tone undercuts the importance of the knowledge being imparted, rendering it slightly less reliable. The book is also honest, which may turn many off. While many sources will tell you that you must be highly motivated and aggressive to work in the industry, Breaking into Film goes a step further and details just how much energy and determination you need, at every step of the game. Those readers looking for an easy way to break into film will be frustrated to find there is no such thing; succeeding means knowing the rules, networking, interviewing, and having luck on your side. McHugh obviously knows what she's talking about, and if you're willing to spend the time reading what she has to say, there is no doubt you will learn something.

In addition, McHugh includes three appendixes at the conclusion of the book, all of which are helpful and vastly important to those just starting out in their struggle. McHugh gives the reader a list of "Key Employers and Film Commission Offices" (complete with with phone number, fax number, and address), a list of colleges that offer film majors, and a list of potential internship opportunities. These lists alone make Breaking into Film worth your while. For those who want to get started in the film industry, but have no idea how, Kenna McHugh's book is a useful, informative tool that can get you on your way.

Breaking the Food Seduction: The Hidden Reasons Behind Food Cravings---And 7 Steps to End Them Naturally

Why is it so hard to resist the temptation of chocolate? Because chocolate triggers the release of natural opiates in the brain. It's a drug "strong enough to keep us coming back for more," according to nutritional researcher Neal Barnard, M.D., president and founder of the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine. Cheese also releases mild opiates during digestion--no wonder we crave it. In Breaking the Food Seduction, Barnard helps you understand and overcome your food cravings. He explains which foods "hook" us the most and why, and what to do to break free when you want to decrease the calories and fat that accompany these seductive foods. Cheese, for example, is about 70 percent saturated fat and has more cholesterol, ounce for ounce, than a steak.

Barnard offers seven steps to breaking your food cravings, devoting a chapter to each one, with anecdotes and plenty of clear, sound, practical tips. Then he presents guidelines for healthy eating using "the New Four Food Groups"--vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains--with a three-week menu plan and 113 healthful, vegan recipes. Highly recommended for people who want to understand their food cravings and finally get rid of them. --Joan Price

Clever Title
The title of this book was cleverly chosen. Had it been more descriptive, I don't think I would have purchased the book. The bottom line from reading this is that one needs to become a Vegan in order to truly break the food seduction cycle. Not really any other alternatives in the view of the Dr. While the information was interesting and yes I will try to eat more fruits and vegetables, I can't commit to a true vegan lifestyle. I was hoping for some simple common sense tips on how to break food seduction habits without such a radical change in diet.

The best diet book out there, by far
This book has made a profound difference in my life.

This book will disabuse you of many fallacies about food and dieting. It is the best book I have read on nutrition. The book tells you in clear language what foods to eat and what foods to avoid. But far more importantly, it will equip you with the knowledge--backed up with scientific evidence--to break the food addiction. After all, what good does it do to tell you to stay away from sugar, meat, and cheese, if those are the very foods you crave?

This book lives up to its title: Breaking the Food Seduction. You don't fight the cravings, you break the cravings. That is an important distinction and it is the thesis of this book. I am very glad I found this book.

A breakthrough for those of us seeking results!
What a help -- and a surprise -- this book is!
A surprise because: We've known that we shouldn't be hooked on certain foods, but until now no one has given us the complete list -- or laid out the reasons for our "addictions" so clearly (there are some real surprises here, on both counts!).
And a great help because: For the first time in my experience all the practical information (e.g., HOW to break away from cravings and food habits) is here under one cover. Also, there are lots of tips and quick, delicious recipes -- a bonus for those of us who have no time for new and complex techniques.
I have read several health and diet books over the years, but this is very likely The Best. In any case, the good news is: we have nothing to lose but our addictions!
