DeBono's "Breadth" Has Plenty of Depth!
Edward DeBono's program of thinking skills brings a common sense approach for teaching thinking to students. Connecting the activities with "real life" situations is easy and fun for them. I've found that the more I use the strategies, the more ways I think of to use them! These skills and strategies should be useful to students throughout their school careers and beyond. The program has certainly helped my students formulate conclusions based on logical thinking rather than "knee jerk" reactions. It provides opportunites for kids to look at various viewpoints, examine similarities and differences, consider pluses and minuses about ideas, etc. I use the lessons weekly and will continue to do so.

The Name Says it All!
This book was taught to us in the first semester of our bachelor in Computer Science program. The approach and language of the book keeps non-native of English on their toes in understanding but when you complete this book and get all the concepts you find out that you didnt waste your time! and as the name suggests (and according to the COMPUTER SCIENCE strategy accquired by the institutes around the world), in teaching Computer Science 'a breath first approach' is best! To accomplish this task, no other book comes near it.

REAL COMPUTER SCIENCE APPROACH
It is the most complete book for beginners and Advance programmers, a perfect tool to learn both (Computer Science and Pascal). I wish to have my own copy in my library. Thnx.

The God Who Loves You: Knowing the Height, Depth, and Breadth of God's Love for You

It will change the way you view God and your fellow man
"God is love" is the one of the most profound statements ever written and revealed. It is the foundation of religious faith, and of Christianity in particular. It is a sufficient answer for many "problems" of our present age.

Kreeft explains the profound nature of this simple statement and shows clearly that the Love of God, which is agape and not like our human loves which are only shadows of His love, is the most important thing and indeed the only thing for it is God Himself.

That knowledge forces us to treat each other as God views us.. as created in His image. Your neighbor is practically the most holy object presented to your senses.

Read this and you will not look at your fellow man the way you did before.

Good coverage in breadth but poor in depth
This is a good quick reference to many tech. indicators. It is possibily THE book that covers the most indicators. However, it does not have in-depth coverage to most of the indicators in the book. It only discusses one or at best a couple of the ways to use a particular indicator. I'd rather see thorough discussions of fewer indicators that are most popular. To that end, many online sources are better than this book. /

I must give the book credit for a very well-written and concise introduction to technical analysis--as part I in the book. It is pretty innovative to use "trader's remorse" to explain the psychological aspects of stock movement and the reason why technical analysis has merits.

Lastly, you don't really need to buy the book if you have online access. It is available online with its entirety and more--the spreadsheet formulas etc.--for free, but of course you would rarely need to understand or even take a look at the formulas behind those indicators unless you're writing software using those indicators. Do a little search on the web and you'll see what I mean.

There is nothing like this book
I own a lot of books on investing and technical analysis and can say there is nothing like this new edition from Mr. Achelis. Yes, the discussions on each indicator are brief (2 to 4 pages), but there are something like 130 indicators! And unlike the first edition (which I recall reading that it had sold almost 100,000 copies), the new edition shows the MATH behind almost all the indicators (no other book I've seen covers the calculations on so many indicators). Even if you own the first edition, this is worth the money.

From the creator of MetaStock
TA from A-Z is an excellent desk reference that describes in great detail a hundred or so different technical indicators, how they are used and also how to calculate them.

I'm not alone in liking this book. Steven Nison, Walter Bressert, John J. Murphy, William O'Neil , Martin Pring and John Bollinger all wrote glowing reviews for this book.

It's ok but...
I've taught a college level "Fundamentals of Programming" course twice using this book. Each chapter has two parts. The first part is a not particularly well written description of the language or a topic such as binary numbers. The second part, the "Breadth" part, contains, historical, philosophical, or other material to expand the subject or to be the focus of discussions.

I would have much preferred using the Sams "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days" for the language part and using the web to supply the material covered in the "Breadth" sections. The 21 Day book covers each language topic more thoroughly and in a more traditional order than Shiftlet's book.

We jokingly refer to the book as "Causing Problems in C++." Although I thought that Shiftlet's introduction of functions early on in the book was a good step, the organization of the book causes problems.

Two examples will suffice. The book uses the #include statement to include a local file, but this statement isn't explained until two chapters later. The first example of classes is unnecessarily complex and contains a method which yields an invalid result for the year 2000. The author planned it this way but the student won't find that out until many chapters later when the student has to rewrite that method to produce the correct result.

Looking for a good textbook? Keep looking.

Decent, but nothing special
This book is an average introduction to the C programming language. While it is not terrible, there are certainly far better books available. I would recommend "The Art and Science of C" by Prof. Eric Roberts, as well as his follow-up, "Programming Abstractions in C." These books truly teach you efficient and effective program design, as well as discussing a variety of topics in a non-condescending yet easy-to-read manner.

an ok transportation review
This is not a complete detail review text. You will still need your HCM, CERM, and Green Book. It is also the exact same text from the full Civil Engineering License Review book (the big book by Donald G. Newman). I returned this item since I already had the big book. It would be a good companion to have if you are not willing to purchase the big book and are planning on taking the Civil PE Exam. (transportation) It does clarify some terms that are not so clear in Lindbergs CERM. Also, the example problems are good, and the solutions are provided, (unlike the full Civil Engineering License Review where you have to purchase the different solutions manual.)
