One of the best novels about adolescence ever
I devoured this book when it came out in 1975, and it still holds up: Anyone who was ever a teenage girl, who loves to read about New York or Boston, or the late 1940s. Anne Bernays is a master prose stylist, and this is still my favorite of her books.

Great Book!
Excellent choice of topics for Heisenberg group fans! A little advanced but worth the effort. He proves Hardy's Theorem for the Weyl transform ... I found it the most amazing proof and I learnt that it was published in this book for the first time! The material on the sub-Laplacian is treated differently and is very readable. One begins to appreciate the Hermite/Laguerre machinery which may otherwise appear boring. Strongly recommended at the graduate and research level or for fun ;)

Heartbreak Hill: An exciting thriller!!
I recieved the book as a gift and did not have a chance to read it untill now. I regret waiting this long. The book in a few words is; awesome, exciting, entertaining! I seriously could not put it down.I ended up reading it in less then 24 hours between work and home. Very realistic and thought provoking.I also enjoyed the fact that it not only had a story of a man and his profession but it includes his personal life as well. I could almost relate to his feelings on lost love. Overall the book was excellent! Very well written. I makes you think about what goes on in the heads of the lunatics in the world today. Thanks for the book I'm deffinatly going to suggest it to all the other frequent readers in my family who are always looking for a great read. NICE JOB TOM!! YOU'VE MADE ME A FAN!!!

The History and Antiquities of Boston: And the Hundreds of Skirbeck
Published in Hardcover by Richard Kay Publications (1997)

Not just a reprint - a reproduction
A typically detailed Victorian record of the history of Boston (UK), first published in 1856. It is the definitive history of the town providing a mine of information for historians and genealogists alike. The detail to which the book goes gives a real sense of how people lived in Britain from Roman times to the 19th century which reaches far beyond an interest in the local history of Boston.

The current edition of this classic work is a faithful reproduction of the original with the original engravings including a detailed fold-out illustration of the East Window of the famous St Botolph's Church. This volume not only looks good on your bookshelf, but will reward your dipping into it for many years to come.

Sofia's story continues.
Nine-year-old Sofia has finally been reunited with her family after a month in quarantine on Ellis Island, and now they have traveled to Boston to build their new life in America. Sofia's father finds a job in a grocery store, and Sofia begins attending school. She enjoys learning English and making new friends, although she misses her best friend from quarantine, Maureen, whose family has settled in New York City. Sofia describes in her diary her life over seven months as her family adjusts to their new lives in America and sees their dreams begin to come true. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy the My America series and have read Hope in My Heart, Sofia's first diary.

Excellant addition to the American Sisters series.
Twelve-year-old twins Hester and Philena, indentured servants to Madame Sarah Kemble Knight in her Boston home, have no memory of their parents. Yet their predictable life, the only one they know, is about to change. Madame Knight receives a letter summoning her to New Haven. She decides to bring her fifteen-year-old daughter, Polly, along, as well as Hester. But a devastated Philena is forced to stay behind, to care for Madame Knight's mother, Goodwife Kemble. However, Goodwife Kemble sends Philena and the family's Indian slave, Cato, after Madame Knight, to give her something she forgot to bring along. Before the two can catch up to the travelers, Cato runs away to freedom, abandoning Philena in the wilderness. She must travel on, completely on her own. Even when she finally catches up to Madame Knight, Polly, and Hester, things don't get much easier. The four travelers face every danger imaginable on the difficult journey by horseback along the Boston Post Road, but Hester and Philena discover things about themselves and each other that they never knew, and find their own hidden strength and courage. I highly reccomend this book, and the entire series, to girls who enjoy historical fiction.

Enthralling.
This is possibly the best down-home earthy style book I've read about the Vietnam Conflict. It is heartwrenching and true, and something you'll not soon forget. I'm sorry that it has fallen out of print, because it deals with an issue no one wants to talk about: the war we lost, and the stashing of our veterans out of public view.
