More religous nonsense
All this book talks about is how abortion is bad because it's written by one of the christian zealots. They embrace murderers, rapists, yet if a woman poses in Playboy or a doctor performs a LEGAL abortion and is only doing his job he/she is condemned to hell. These people are just as bad as all the extremist of the world

Wonderful!
Easy-to-read style; presents a lot of information and answers a lot of questions. Great artwork. Very age-appropriate and does not invade child's innocense.

Great for reading with your young children!!
Helps parents talk to their kids about were babies come from, birth defects, etc! A must for families!

Excellent!
This is a wonderful book that all young people should definately read. Although it may not be the easiest writing, etc, our country was founded by the people who wrote the book. We, as Americans, should listen to what they have to say. For, I am sure, we would be no where without them.

Got me into American History...
My sister bought me this book for my birthday, and it was a good read.

It did get a little monotonous later on, but it was only because of the grammar at that time. In other words, the excerpts had (mostly) long, running sentences that beat around the bush.

However, there were also some interesting stuff in the book about people like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and such. Because of reading this book, I started getting into the American Revolution. At the moment, I'm reading the biographies of the founders of America.

All in all, interesting enough to finish, but it took me a while.

Spectacular
Bennett's take on the personalities of the men and women that birthed this nation is compelling and rewarding. He pulls selected writings from a variety of sources, and his choices are at times very un-politically correct. For instance, one passage by Hamilton details the regret and angst that plagued him in his last hours before his ill-fated duel. Other passages hi-lite the nobility and bravery that many exhibited in the most trying of times. The cast of characters is complete: Adams and his wife, Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, Lafayette, etc. This book in fact does what other books for young adults only pretend - treating young minds as capable and inquisitive and able to handle a harsh reality. In all, a thought-provoking book with good commentary by the editor.

Terrible Audio Quality
How hard can it be to make a decent audio tape of one man reading the Bible? The opposite side bleeds through and they often break between sides right in the middle (or worse, just before the end) of a verse. The 2 stars is just for Scourby's voice quality.

Holy Bible : Old Testament by Alexander Scourby (Reader)
After reading the only review available at the time, I was hesitant to order this tape, but I already had the New Testiment read by Alexander Scourby, so I felt confident that the review was due to a bad quality tape. I was very happy with the tapes when they arrived, the sound quality is excellent and I have enjoyed hearing it as I drive around. I highly recommend this set of tapes to anyone who wants to read the bible but doesn't have much time. You can listen to these tapes while you drive or do housework! Its great!!!

What a Great Idea!
Great to listen to as a companion to your bible reading, for someone who is older or needs assistance reading printed text, and I love to listen in the car - to and from work - to agment my bible study. I agree with the other reviewing, cassette is nice to listen to while doing house work! Makes it seem to go faster and good company too. Highly recommended!

Bodett's awful
Tom Bodett is dreadful. At first I thought he was just a dumbed down Garrison Keillor, but his characters and stories are mean-spirited, and Prairie Home Companion was never that. I listened as far as the "humorous" story about beating a cat to death with a broom (ho! ho!) before I threw the cassettes out.

Life at "The End of the Road"
What an excellent set of tapes!

As a displaced Alaskan myself, I can fully appreciate the characters in Bodett's books: simple, straightforward folks. People who love their freedom and value the Alaskan way of life.

But you don't have to be an Alaskan to enjoy these tapes. Bodett spins fascinating and humorous tales of smalltown Alaska that *all* can enjoy. And when the last tape is played, the listener will find themselves wanting to hear more about Stormy Storbock, Ed and Emily Flannigan, Tamara Dupree and the infamous Doug McDoogan.

Bodett's writing style is simple, yet entertaining...and when he reads his own work, as he does on these tapes, his matter-of-fact humor is showcased perfectely.

I highly recommend these tapes - they will turn your next big-city commute into a trip to Alaska!

Very Enjoyable Series of Stories about Small Town Life
Tom Bodett narrates his own stories about fictional, colorful characters living in a small Alaskan town. The stories are simple and bring out humor and emotion. His deadpan style of narration is Bodett's trademark, telling the listener about the humorous and unusual events that take place among the significant townspeople. So good are the stories, they almost make a person want to pack up and head for Alaska to live with these folks. I personnally enjoy these stories very much and listen to them while I commute to back and forth to work, which allow me to enjoy hearing about people who enjoy close friendships and lessons on life.

Big book of old knife catalogs
I bought this book based on another customer review. About the only pictures are on the front cover. This book is NOTHING more than various knive ads and catalogs from long past. There is no related history or collector insights. Indeed there is very little original writing in this book at all. Major modern manufacturers are not covered (Buck for instance) and like I said, there is very little additional information other than the catalog reprints. Knife values are kind of strange. My recent sales are as much as 4 times what is listed. Most are 2-3 times what is listed. I have noticed that other knife books are a little low also. There is no real help with identification in this book either. The only thing I liked about this book was the cover.

A "must" for avid collectors and professional dealers.
Ron Stewart and Roy Ritchie's Big Book Of Pocket Knives provides an excellent reference for any who would collect pocket knives, with close-up black and white photos of the knives accompanied by written descriptions and values. A "must' for avid collectors.

It was disappointing since it only covers Whitman Publishing
It was disappointing since it only covers the Whitman Publishing company Little Big Books. If you want the prices of other publishers you need an additional book. The number of pages in the LBBs are not listed nor are the artists. There are many pluses to this guide. The photographs of the books are great. They show you what the books look like in top condition. The guide is easy to use, since the listings are alphabetical. In the back is a handy check list to mark off what you have in your collection (a column for the price you paid for your book would have been useful). It is a book I would recommend to add to your references on Little Big Books.

A Beautiful Picture - Price Guide For A Popular Collectible.
This 176 page guide contains over 800 great, full color, sharp photos of book covers. The values have been updated to 1996. Topics range from Whitman Big Little Books and Big Big Books to Tarzan, Dell Fast Action, Disney and Comic Character books. The amount of text is limited to brief discussions of history, where to purchase, condition, storage and care. If you enjoy collecting this topic, you'll enjoy this volume and refer to it often. Add it to your library.

Lots of pictures, little content
This book contains photos of cameos made from many different materials, from plastic to shell to glass. But of the 160 pages it contains, only around 30 pages give any information about cameos. The rest of the pages are photos with prices. It really is just a price guide.

Good book for price guide but.....
The book is exactly what it says it is, a price guide. There isn't any history, how to tell what time the cameo is from, what the cameo is made of etc. Not exactly what I wanted but will come in handy for an idea of prices.

Repetitious and Barely Useable Book!
For someone who supposedly collects crackle glass, this book's author has enough repeats of the same items to make you dizzy!!! Sometimes the same item is pictured twice on the same page for the same category. One Fry lidded pitcher is found NINE times, a green decanter is found THIRTEEN times, an amberina decanter SIX times, an unidentified decanter SEVEN times!!! On page 30, she says, "These Five Collectible Areas Increase the Value of Crackle Glass: Numbers 1-4 Characteristics will increase value....Number 5 Characteristic will increase value...." BUT I never found those five areas!!!!!!!!
For anyone who wants to have any hope of identifying or pricing a variety of crackle glass, this IS NOT THE BOOK for you!!! On the only positive note, the values the author DOES give seem to be fair and accurate.

Excellent Pictorial and Historical Guide for the Collector
This is an outstanding book. This books provides so much information as well as hundreds of vibrant photographs. The author shares so much educatinal history on companies that made crackle glass. The photographs are outstanding. She also provides valuable assesment data to help the collector determine the value of their own piece. I do think the author under estimates the values of some pieces. Many rare pieces are greatly underated in value, however, I highly recommend this book the both the advance, and beginner collector. A splendid job in putting this book together!! Definately 5 stars!

Its kind of helpful
Well this book gives out the basic values of almost every comic collectible ever made. I would reccomend it but rigght now you should probably get something better.

A good effort.
As a fan of American comic books and related paraphernalia, I really enjoyed this book. True, it perhaps bit off more than it could chew, but what the heck, it was a really good effort on the part of the authors, who have written on everything from fast food toys, to action figures to non-sport trading cards and comic books. What this book really needs, however, is an update. With the explosion (and implosion) of the late '90s in the comic book field, and the new comic book movies of the early 21st century, I'm sure that there is a ton more stuff that could be added.

Disappointed
I am a huge Iyanla fan, but even she has a bad day. This tape was a disappointment, expecially after being fired up with the "Faith" tape. The quality of the sound was not good, her singers were not on their game and the message seemed to come in the last 5 minutes of the tape. You found Iyanla rambling on and on mostly. I will still try the other cassettes but this one, you can pass on.

Ilyanla Live!: Self Value, Self worth & Self Love
I enjoy watching Iyanla on TV, and I have read a couple of her books, this was the first time I purchased one of her tapes and was very disappointed. The sound quality is poor. I found myself turning the volume up and then down, and then at times I couldn't hear anything at all. It started out with singing, which I guess is alright if that is what you had expected, but I didn't see the connection in the overly long singing introduction to the tape subject. She had a few good points that she brought out, and made one think. There were maybe 20 min. of interesting subject matter to listen to: I would not recommend this particular tape.

Remember to Love Your Feet
Iyanla takes us on a journey of the past and present on this cd. You will find yourself in Rhonda ( the story she is telling throughout the lesson). You will step outside of your inner being and take a hard look within. You will come to know something that you have learned for years but never paid that much attention to - "that you are made in the image of God." I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but you will learn to love your feet, your face, your private parts etc... Purchase this, and I promise you will finish it enlightened. Now hug yourself and tell yourself you are worthy to be PRAISED!
