Scribe your thoughts here!
This journal is a pretty worthwhile choice if you're looking for a blank book to fill with your thoughts. The graphic on the front is interesting, even if it's not spectacular. However, it is suitable for just about anything you feel like writing. Poetry, stories, letters, or a diary are examples of what you could make out of these pages. If you've heard the saying, "Life is an open book," then fill up those pages!

planting flowers in winter
A little girl's Grandma came to live with her and her Grandma had to share her room. The Grandma missed her house and her cat's that she gave to her neighbor. The little girl planted flowers when it was winter so that in the spring they would grow. This is my 2nd favorite anglewings book.

.....not just for the birds..
"Audubon: American Birds" is a not only a wonderful introduction to Audubon's works but a portrait of the birds as seen through the eyes of a great American naturalist. The volume also serves as a good reference source though tempered with an romantic view giving the astute reader an additional insight into the times in which Audubon worked. I would definately recomment this book to both the birder and art lover.

varied, holds interest,beautifully illustrated,perfect gift
It was a gift to my son from us on his 9th birthday.A great book to read aloud to children. With its variety and multicultural flavour, the stories hold interest. The substance could be more explicit for sustained self reading. A good collection of folk tales and makes a worthwhile addition to the library of children's books at home alongwith the three other books written by the same author.

NEVER TOO YOUNG TO LEARN
Sprightly illustrations quickly and amusingly bring home
the message of kindness.

Environmentalists will be pleased that the first two illustrations remind children to be kind to the flowers and the trees.

From there we move to human relationships with the suggestion that we be kind to each other by being kind in what we say and do.

The moral in this short but relevant book is when you are kind to others that kindness comes back to you.

A Clear How-to Guide
Unlike other body language books I've read, Susan Quilliam does a creditable job of explaining and applying the information presented. I've tried to decipher and apply the material presented in some non-verbal language books, but sometimes that illustration of close set eyes just does not give me enough information to match what I've seen with what I've read.

In contrast, Susan's book is very logically laid out and presented. It shows actual pictures rather than sketches to illustrate a point or range of similar situations. She clearly places you in a situation then gives you several examples both how to read another's signs as well as explains what you can do to give the impression you want. To a limited extent, she goes one step further and offers explanations about unfavorable reactions and what might be causing them.

I haven't finished reading all of the book, but I like what I have read so far and believe this would make a very good reference book for me. I plan on creating a step-by-step "cheat sheet" to help me adjust some of my non-verbal signals to better achieve results I want from first impressions or relieving that awkward first conversation. I believe Susan has provided very clear instructions on how to do this.

This book isn't just an index reference, but a practical application book. I'm now very curious to see how closely her other books mirror the way this one was written and presented. I give the book 4 stars only because I haven't finished reading it.

Beautiful, awe inspiring photos...
Being an avid bonsai lover, I bought this books a few years ago to get an overview of the art of Bonsai. Now, a few years later and a few trees dead, I've found this book to be an inspiring pictorial of some of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden's most beautiful specimens, but lacking in detail. While I'm not an expert in Bonsai, and I'm a bit more learned now, I find that the author either skipped some basic preliminary steps, or wrote in vague non-descript terms that left me, the reader, looking for more (ie: moss and ground cover... need more details). But, just for the pictures alone, this book deserves 4 stars because it has started my own imagination going and given me some guidance and ideas on designs and styles I'd like to use on my Bonsais.

While no book will ever be completely comprehensive of all there is to know about Bonsai, this book would make a great gift for someone toying with the idea of buying or creating a tree, and does give enough information for someone to start out small. Overall, its a pleasure to read and after reading the book, stop on by Brooklyn's Bonsai garden for a real show-stopper!

good book
I was encouraged to buy another set of audio cassetes after listening to "Death in Holy Orders", which made our long trips in the car more enjoyable. Charles Dickens audio collection even more interesting. The only problem that we had is when characters' speech went too fast and it was hard to understand it. But for native English speakers it should be OK.
