NOT FOR 4 YEAR OLDS!
I purchased this book for a child's 4th birthday. I was going by the age estimate provided in the item description, which says Ages 4-8. Well, the book is actually for Grades 1-3, which obviously does not include 4 year olds. The content is appropriate, but there are not many 4 year olds who will be able to read any of this book on their own. So if you want a book that your young child can start reading on their own, look elsewhere.

Pickles, stickers and reading fun
This is a great book for teaching reading. Arthur is a favored character in our house , and the peel and place stickers really help little ones with the concepts of learning to read. It also has a whole sticker sheet that kids can illustrate their own story with. Marc Brown, through Arthur, can always view the world through a child's eyes, which helps parents to remember that things can seem alot different down there! I highly recommend this and all Arthur/D.W. books!

MY KIDS LOVE ARTHUR
MY KIDS LOVE ARTHUR AND HIS MANY ADVENTURES. THEY ESPECIALLY LIKE THIS BOOK AND THE PICKLE PEOPLE IN IT. THEY HAD ME READ IT 15 TIMES THE FIRST DAY WHICH PROVIDED AN AFTERNOON OF LAUGHS AND PICKLE GAMES.

Book of Massage & Aromatherapy
Published in Hardcover by Crescent Books (07 July, 1996)
Author: Rh Value Publishing
Amazon base price: $16.99
Used price: $1.95
Collectible price: $14.99
As stress-related illness becomes an increasingly recognized term, natural relaxation techniques are gaining in popularity. For those looking to get started on a serene approach to life, The Book of Massage & Aromatherapy is as straightforward as the title suggests: it presents the hows and whys of combining two ancient healing arts. Coauthor Nitya Lacroix, cofounder of the School of Holistic Massage in London, runs regular training courses in massage--and it shows. With more than 500 step-by-step color photographs (complete with instructional arrows), this book was clearly written for a student. Its practical, hands-on approach provides a solid foundation for incorporating aromatherapy and massage into a daily routine. Starting with the basics and progressing to more advanced techniques, The Book of Massage & Aromatherapy does its best to cover the gamut. You'll find massage for headaches and insomnia, baby massage, self-massage, cellulite and detoxification massage, and more. Of course, if you just want to learn how to give a really good back rub, you can learn that, too. --Sara Nickerson

very good basics book with lots of color pictures
This book could be sub-titled "A great way to your partners happiness - help save your marriage" The pages are unusually thick paper for a inexpensive book today. There are many many color pictures all through the book. Just enough aromatherapy to get you started and more than enough massage concepts to keep you busy. My wife said after her first session "Did you learn all that from reading the book ? "

I love this book!
This book is a wealth of information for both aromatherapy and massage. I ordered it for the aromatherapy part, but I found the massage portion of the book to be equally beneficial. I have many massage books in my library, but I return to this one time after time. I esspecially like the aromatherapy encyclopedia, which covers most every essential oil and its most beneficial use.

Fully illustrated, well described, covers issues for beg-adv
Well structured, well illustrated, very good overall coverage of massage therapy. It also contains good basics on aromatherapy. An excellent starter book and refresher course. I would reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in getting started. It will take you well beyond the basics.

COOKIE MONSTER AND THE COOKIE TREE
I thought it was a well written book for children of all ages. A good use of child sentence use and phrases.

Talk about learning to share!
This is one fun book, especially if you take on the character's voices. I read it so many times to my children when they were little, that after the book got destroyed, I was still able to quote it almost word-for-word! Time has dulled my memory, so wanted another book to refresh it. It's a delightful Sesame Street Book!

Love it! Luuuvvv it!
This book was hilarious. My daughter could not wait for me to get to the next page so that she could see what was going to happen next. It's even more fun when you do the actual voices of the characters (you have to be a fan of Sesame Street to pull this off). The book is also a teaching tool for sharing. It makes reading fun, and now my daughter can read it to me, word for word!

Good for all levels of interest
I don't consider myself a collector of Haviland; I bought this book to get a toehold in this world while searching for replacements for my mother's turn-of-the-century pattern.

This book is organized in such a way that someone new to this area can understand the basics types of pieces, identify the various markings and get some idea of reasonable values. Did I mention that it also looks good on the coffee table?

ANOTHER Great Book by Schiffer!!
Nora Travis is one of the leading experts on Haviland. I love the quality of her books, and have found the photographs professional, and the content informative and interesting. While researching my book: LIVING WITH LIMOGES by Debby DuBay, I again sought out Nora Travis' work for information on Haviland Limoges. She is an expert in the field of Haviland and I recommend this book to all who need information on the subject or for those who enjoy beautiful coffee table books.

Comprehensive Photos/Values of Haviland Porcelain
Nora Travis' book includes photographs of the usual and unusual pieces of Haviland porcelain which makes it a well rounded book for the amateur and serious collectors. It contains many beautiful "art" pieces, and the values are right on target. A lot of work went into this book, and it shows. The photos are really great as well. We, Keith and Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde, are the authors of a book on Limoges porcelain, The Decorative Art of Limoges Porcelain and Boxes.

Repeated ideas, though good
Good book but too much repeated from "Mass Customization"...the author's excellent preceding title.

Timeless yet generally fresh, worth the re-read
Have read most of the authors in this volume, but still refer back to my yellow hi-liting and post-it tabs. Tempting to read only executive summaries, but these fail to capture the needed depth provided in the chapters. One of the better compilations I've come across in some time. Probably only thing that's missing is "how to." I suspect that requires more than just deep thinking, but a cross-disciplinary team.

Mass Customization: A Paradigm of Paradox
Gilmore and Pine co-authored The Experience Economy, a book I consider one of the most important business books written in recent years. In this volume, they anthologize ten essays which -- together -- answer questions such as these:

1. What is "the emerging theory of manufacturing"? (Peter Drucker)

2. How to market in "the age of diversity"? (Regis McKenna)

3. How to manage in "an age of modularity"?

4. Do you want to keep your customers forever? (Pine, Don Peppers, and Martha Rogers)

5. Is your company ready for one-to-one marketing? (Peppers, Rogers, and Bob Dorf)

6. What are the correlations between "breaking compromises" and "breakaway growth"? (George Stalk, Jr., David K. Pecault, and Benjamin Burnett)

7. What are the "four faces" of mass customization"? (Gilmore and Pine)

8. What is "versioning"? Why is it the smart way to sell information? (Carl Shapiro and Hal R. Varian)

9. How to make mass customization work? (Pine, Bart Victor, and Andrew C. Boynton)

10. What does "managing by wire" involve? (Stephan H. Haeckel and Richard L. Nolan)

At the conclusion of their book, the authors also provide immensely helpful "Executive Summaries" of key points made in each of the various essays, and, brief but informative comments about those who wrote them. If you are looking for the single best source of information and about mass customization, look no further.

Wonderful books, but lousy version
This abridged audio version is good in some select parts, but laughable in many places. The way they've cut things is just pathetic. Read the books or find an unabridged version, please! These tapes are good if you've read the books and just want to listen to something familiar on a long drive or something, but not if you want to understand the characters. The tapes skip most of the family's history and the beautiful historic descriptions of locations, especially the house (which is SO important), and also skips most of the sex scenes (which I actually didn't mind too much, but I thought it was hysterical). Please, please, please, PLEASE find a better version than these tapes.

Easily..
Easily these books are my favorite of Anne Rice. With the exception of a few others. The way they are written takes you where they are... its takes you inside their minds and you can understand exactly what they feel. The witching hour is the best i think because its more of the the history of the witches.. the rest are more about the taltos.. but they are still excellent. I've grown to love the characters and I want to read more. lol. cant wait for more witch books. :)

Mayfair Witches
I have truely enjoyed the witch series, and do look forward to the next book to come out in this series. Both the witch series, and the vampire series are so spell binding that you feel like you are actually there, and living life or unlife with them. You are caught up in the spells, romance, and love of they're lives as they are. I want to thank Anne Rice for each of these series, they are as masterly written from the first word, as they are to the last one, and from book to book. Again I Thank you, and do look forward to the next books to come out in either of your series. Respectfully A Devoted Fan Marianne Alderson

Great if you like potato mashers
This book has great color photos, but I found it to be less than "complete" as the title implies -- UNLESS you are collecting potato mashers! Page after page after page of potato mashers. It tries to cover too many areas and leaves me unsatisfied in most of them. And frankly, general types of potato mashers have the relatively same value -- I could have used more cake tins, crock bowls, etc. and many fewer mashers, it seemed like enormous overkill.

Great Book
I loved the picture quality and the accuracy of the prices! A definite "must buy"! Very comprehensive and very appealing to a variety of collectors!

A Must for Collectors of Kitchen Items...
This book is the kind that "hooks" collectors. Having recently purchased most of the kitchen collectible books readily available on the market, I was pleasantly surprised at the scope of this book and the excellent photography, along with pricing guidelines. While this book does not offer specific dating of items, an introduction suffices to lead you elsewhere for extensive research, gives you enough of a broad overview to get you started, and provides insight into the very real difficulties of accurate dating. Given the wide range of items I haven't found elsewhere, I was happy to accept what it had to offer: photos and information about everything from aluminum bowls to wire whips, from the 1920's to the 1950's. This book proves you don't have to aspire to owning a $150 Griswold cast iron pot from the 1800's to love old kitchen equipment and all that it represents!

A GREAT BOOK
This is a wonderful book if you are interested in Apes memorabilia. Looking at this book sometimes brings me back to my childhood (a comfortable time) which is nice. The author shows a great appreciation for The Planet of the Apes. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because it did not show all memorabilia of the Apes which in all fairness would be an almost impossible task. This book really is fantastic!!

"An UnAuthorized Success!"
Charles Kader, academic librarian writes: "" Charles Kader, MLS (Mohawk Nation) cjkader@yahoo.com

A superb, beautifully illustrated guide to Apedom
Christopher Sausville, drawing on his extensive knowledge of Apes collectibles, has created a comprehensive guide to every conceivable piece of Apes merchandise. From the original movie press kits to parachuting Dr. Zaius figures, Sausville lists and prices all the items created for the five movies, the television series, and the Saturday morning cartoon. Lavishly illustrated, this guide is more than just a price list. Sausville also includes a trivia section which is not only great fun but is also filled with fascinating facts and amazing photographs. But the book is valuable not just for the incredible photographs and well-written commentary but also for the wealth of childhood memories it evokes. This is a book for Apes fans to treasure.

The Dream Book of our Ancestors
I can't imagine anyone reading this thing for fun these days, but these were certainly the material dreams of those hard working immigrants that came before us. These catalogs were not help by individuals but were located in general stores and dry goods shops for ordering and fueling dreams. Virtually everything could be ordered from good old Sears Roebuck from the tools used to pull teeth, to early toilets, to carriages and clothing, practially everything but a house (although there is a section on tents and coverings that look as big as houses). An indespensable research tool for writers, students, and researchers interested in Americana.

A wonderful "blast from the past".
I finally ordered this book because I had kept my sisters copy so long she was threatening bodily harm if I didn't return it. It really is a fascinating way to kill a few minutes or a few hours and could conceivably be used as a decent historical reference. I was disappointed some of the sections are missing a number of pages but I am assuming they haven't survived the last century intact. I found the sections on tools and household utensils particularly fascinating, although the tool section is one missing pages, and the section on cameras and projectors is a very revealing look at what amounted to career choices at the turn of the century. Sears also had a way with advertising verbage which makes you think you'd not only be an absolute fool for ordering anywhere else, but you should actually send them more than the asking price.

All in all an enjoyable, informative look at life a century ago. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this publication to anyone.

Wonderful resource
This book is a wonderful resource with pictures and descriptions. And absolute must for anyone doing any research of the time period, from an interior decorator to anyone in techincal theatre. A maginificent book!

Interesting, but sad
I read this book a while ago, but I rememebr it rather well. It wasn't exactly very good, but it is a good learning experience. Telling people that you shouldn't think less of disabled people, especially the ones that are born into this world disabled. I think it has a sad ending, but I enjoyed it and I think it is quite good.

Disabled children have been exiled and left to die.
In a possible future, in which the environment has been so degraded by humans that they must all live in a strictly regulated environment, disabled children--considered unworthy of society's attention and expenditure--are exiled and left to die. 16-year-old Gem, through the intervention of her friend Jay, is shocked to discover the world of these disabled children and teens, who have been rescued from death by compassionate adults. This novel explores intriguing and very current questions about the environment, genetic engineering and social values. Gem, Jay, and the other teens--both abled and disabled--are engaging, fully-rounded characters who make mistakes and have to deal with the consequences. Though the story ends on an affirmative note, there are enough unresolved issues to keep the reader thinking long after reading the last page.

Very interesting book.
A very powerful well-written book. About the lives of several very real and interesting people, in a future world suffering not so much from an evil and tyrannical dictatorship in the traditional sense, as from 'managerialism' and bureaucracy carried to horrifying extremes. Builds up to a powerful climax.
