A Holiday Reality Check
Wes Magee combines his artistry of poetry with today's real world problems to help children realize that there is more to Christmas than just Santa and receiving material gifts. Most of the children who will hear this book have never experienced homelessness and the kind of rejection that the ragged little boy experiences.

This story held fourteen 3 and 4 year olds spellbound and silent to the end. Additionally it touched the hearts of the entire teaching staff and reminded us that our problems were trivial in comparison. Definitely a holiday "must read" from now on!

Wow! What an eye opener this book was!
What a great little book! It was refreshing to read a book about child training that used a simple strightforward approach to raising children...the same methods from the Bible used by our grandparents and their parents. Liberal parenting methods that came about in the 50's and 60's have resulted in bedlam in America's homes, which has moved out into the schools and the streets. This book will be quite a shock to folks like me who were raised by Dr. Spock, and may seem harsh to some, but the methods described in the book seem loving and intended only for the welfare of the child's body and soul! Easy to read and understand, it includes thought-provoking questions meant to lead to honest introspection (in the 'warning signs' section) about one's own child rearing results. It even includes ways to deal with fussy eaters, teaching courtesy and respect, and good manners (all but forgotten). It's a tough little book, and will stand up to the huge volumes filled with sappy advice like time-outs, and the dance-on-eggshells-around-your-kids approach to parenting today. I recommend this little book to any parent who wants to be challenged to raise better children in a sinful world.

My thoughts about this book
I liked the book because I like to think about the things in the book. I like the Angel talk and Angel thoughts. I like how the archangel helps the little angel to help the person in need of help. The little angels are each different in their own way. I only have 3 books but I for one love the books.

this mammoth collection of cassettes (eight total) is incredibly cheap and contains lovely shimmering stories that are read by someone that evidently enjoys them as much as anyone does/everyone should.

a wonderful Christmas fable
Another simply told tale from Ian Wallace. His text is spare, straightforward, and compelling. The illustrations, like so many of his, are evocative of place and time, with enough detail to make us feel the homeliness of the house and its inhabitants. The warmth of lamplight spills into each scene, guarding us and the characters of brother and sister and mother against the harsh cold of the out of doors, really of the world. The arrival of the stranger out of the cold, his magic tricks, his presentation of gifts, and his departure happen so fluidly that we, too, are caught up in the surprise and delight of his visit. The best of his gifts brings this story to its close, and we want to read it again to recapture the magic.

Realistic, honest, humane-- Excellent !
My kids (girls, 7 & 8) have recently fallen in love with the Little Bill books. But this one is a special discovery. The realistic approach to the subjects of money, want, need, being poor, to give or not to give, are dealt with so succinctly in this little book. All three of us were moved by the events as they unfolded. Thought-provoking and challenging for kids AND their parents!

Join the party
Poor Morris can't bear to part with the gift of paints he brought the birthday boy. The tiny package grows and weighs on Morris until he is unable to enjoy the party. When he's finally ready to give it --the birthday boy has gone on to his other presents. Morris opens the paints and soon has the whole party joining in creating fantastical painting on paper and on themselves. The art draws the reader in, it's peculiar, but appealing with lots of different perspectives, the artist has fun with the sizes of things. A lovely book.
