Rad it
Back to the "data-driven...stuff". What I do show contempt for is the charlatans who repeat over and over the same silly lab tests and draw unfounded conclusions to support their theories on training. As Master Po has said before, "Man who study exercise-physiology and think he know running is like man who study price of produce and think he know how farm."

Could you if imagine engineers pursued their craft in the same manner of EP-Geeks? What the lab and the calculations say mean nothing to engineers. Engineers test and re-test everything in the field. Ever hear of a mechanical engineer telling a Formula I driver how to drive? A aeronautical engineer telling a pilot how to fly? Hell no. That's because they know their place in the grand scheme of things. Would you ever buy a Jim Beams Flying Formula book written by an engineer. Get outta here!

With that said, I've noticed that a lot of you guys read a lot of running books. That's fine. take em for what there worth. I have never heard of any of you reading any books on the psychology of running. What gives? Any of you ever read 'The Breakthrough Factor' by Henry Marsh? I didn't think so. Why not? Henry Marsh is by far the best American steeplechaser. Not by a little, by ThAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT much! Here's a guy with NO TALENT and NO WORK ETHIC and you don't want to know what he knows?

"Psssssst, over here kid, running's all upstairs."

Everything in one place - what a concept.
Okay you want to pass the CCNA exam on the first shot so you decide to get the best book around. Then you need another book to cover the major points for the test is in two days. While riding to work you want to be able to learn as you drive and finally you want to try practice test before going live. You think you will be spending ( ), right, wrong.

Coriolis has put together the most complete package that includes the Exam Prep, Exam Cram Practice Tests and Audio Review for CCNA exam 640-507 and all for under $130.00. The exam Prep book is detailed and accurate and it includes a cd-rom with practice questions.

The Exam Cram is written to cover the major points for passing the exam, but more than that it allows you to study in a manner that will makes passing the exam easier the first time around. Also the exam cram has practice questions in it as well.

The Practice Test has five, count them five different complete CCNA tests. Along with that there is over 200 questions in the book, and if that is not enough there is also a cd-rom included with an interactive test that can be taken in several formats.

Finally there is the Audio Review, which is made up of four tapes. The first three cassettes are the complete review of the Exam Cram 15 Chapters and the fourth tape is simply review questions and answers. So there you have it a complete package for the CCNA exam and now your excuses are over. Simply one of the best items I have reviewed in 2000.

A Child's Book of Stories

This collection of children's stories is likely to enchant adults as much as it will youngsters. Filled with traditional fairytales, yarns, and fables, these are the stories that have been passed down through the generations: "Hansel and Gretel," "The Ugly Duckling," and "Red Riding Hood" to name but three. The tales have not been tailored for the sake of political correctness, or spiced up for a '90s audience. These are the unabridged works of the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and other legendary authors from this genre. There is no room left in the book for illustrations--just page after page of classic story. --Naomi Gesinger

The Greatest Fairytale Book Ever!

Inspiration for Children...
A Child's Book of Values is an inspirational book. It helps to give a child a strong foundation of personal values based on God's teachings in the Bible. This book presents twelve core values and the ways they can be applied to everyday experiences. There are informal prayers, Bible verses and familiar stories. The illustrated definitions, key Bible verses and well-loved stories illustrate each value.

Love, Forgiveness, Kindness, Generosity, Patience, Gratefulness, Responsibility, Hard work, Honesty, Bravery, Faithfulness, Joyfulness all take center stage on beautifully illustrated pages.

I especially enjoyed reading the page on "Love." It reads:

"Love means caring so much for other people that it shows in the way you treat them. Love is more than a warm feeling; it is acting unselfishly for another's good." -A Child's Book of Values

Statements like: "Forgiveness has no limit," and "Some things take time and can't be rushed," truly make this a practical guide for children. These values will last a lifetime and will not only benefit your child; they will be a gift to everyone who knows them.

Lesley Wright has worked all over the world, but it is her discovery of her Christian faith that has been the most meaningful to her. Lesley wanted to help her own children experience the joys of Christian life. She is also the author of Bible Food Fun and A Child's Book of Prayers.

Grandparents Approve Book
I purchased this book, the only one they had, in a gift shop as a stocking stuffer for my 10 year old grandson who loves to read. After browsing through the book I felt the content was excellent guidance for children of his age and something he would keep and refer to on occassion. My husband was so delighted with the book that he carried the name and author for a year looking for additional copies for other grandchildren.

Inclusive for Kids
I found this book to be a very good Bible book for kids of any age. Although it is primarily geared for older school age kids, younger kids can also enjoy the stories and the pictures. It is a great resource for getting kids familiar with the Bible - it's contents and wording. I will enjoy reading these stories to my kids for years to come. I also love that it is in a daily format, this really helps with daily devotions.

A cat-lovers Christmas!
If you love cats and Christmas, as I do, this book is for you. Lesley Anne Ivory has several cats and kittens, and she paints the Christmas scenes the cats find themselves in, and includes a little story with each one. The paintings of hers are superb, as is the text. This is a charming little book, of high quality, and one you may want to leave out during the holiday season for others to enjoy also.

An excellent reference for the collector...
This book is filled to the brim with hundreds of pages of plastic ware from the 30s to the 60s. Goldberg gives us photos of everything from plastic toothpicks to appliances. He includes everything you can think of: barware, bowls, canisters, cookie jars, clocks, containers, flatware, glasses & tumblers, napkin rings, picnic items, refridgerator dishes, salt & pepper sets, utensils, even watering cans!

There is a large section which covers dinnerware, with over 25 different manufacturers, including a nice section showing various backstamps. He includes a bilbliography, value guide (which may not reflect current online auctions prices), and a short history of plastic as it was introduced to America. My only quibble with this book is that I wish the photos were a little better lit, they are a little dark in some sections. But all in all, a valuable reference.
