My son was given this book at his birth. He is now 2 and knows every truck in this book by name and loves to "read" it daily. This book has a lot of technical information that is placed in a good context for children to understand (ie. a roller weighs 15 tons-as much as about 5,000 watermellons) but mostly it has great pictures of trucks. I have three daughters who do not understand his infatuation with this book, but truly it is his favorite. I would reccomend this book to anybody with a boy even as young as 2 (although I'll warn you we've had to tape several pages because of his age!).

Our son Derek really enjoys it when he reads his digger book.The fact that everything has a proper name is a BIG plus.A bulldozer is exactly that, a bulldozer, not just,WOW, look at the big machine.We also like that there are true photos not just drawings.

We bought this book for our 21-month-old son to read/play with on a long plane flight, and he loved it! Sometimes we read it, sometimes we spun the wheels, and sometimes we "drove" it on the floor, on our legs, almost anywhere. It's a pretty sturdy board book, and a size that is relatively easy to fit in a pocket, diaper bag, or purse. I'm buying some more for gifts! A small velcro strap keeps the pages from flying open when it's being used as a car.

My son absolutly LOVES this book. He's had this book since he was about 1 or 1 1/2 years old. He constantly has me read it to him again and again! He takes it to bed with him, looks at it falling asleep, and again when he wakes up. It's a sturdy board book. The pictures are bright and eye catching, just like you see on the cover. The text has a rhyming flow to it. "Busy, Busy, wheels at work..." Each page discribes a different piece of heavy machinery in a rhyming text...with the text either saying what the machine is or a function that it does. There's a truck, a roller, gears, wheels, engines, trencher, a bulldozer, ect. A definate must-have book for a truck lover!

My 3 children loved this book. I wanted to get one for my nephews too.

Every two years my wife and I tour the England staying almost exclusively in B&B's. After having bought and read most other books on the subject, I have found this the most comprehensive book on the market. Detailed information and ratings are provided for each of the facilities listed, which I have found to be both useful and accurate. Obviously, I highly recommend it for those touring England's B&B's. However, I will now wait for the 1999 edition which should be out shortly.

We checked this book out of the library for son, who will soon be three years old, and it is now one of his all-time favorite books. I just dropped into Amazon.com to order him a copy of the book for his very own.

There are almost no words in the book, just enough to help you figure out what's going on. You and your child provide your own story as you turn the pages. My son can tell the whole story himself now and gets very excited as we get closer and closer to the page where the bear appears. He really thinks he's "reading" and asks for this book again and again.

A very brightly colourful book. The question is asked on each page : "Where's The Cat?" A visual clue (part of the cat's body) is shown on each page. The page is then turned and the answer revealed, with the written answer. Each answer begins with a preposition, and each pair rhymes (eg on the chair, up the stair, under the bed, behind the shed). An excellent book for pre-schoolers and beginning readers.

I bought this book for my oldest son about six years ago, and he just loved it (we have a cat, and he loved our cat too). It's a wonderful book for little kids because they can participate by lifting the flaps, and they love the surprise of finding the kitten hidden underneath. The book has been out of print for a while, so I am thrilled to see it's available again.

I remember being a little girl and reading the Whisper books. Now I am grown and looking for them again...so far I have found none :( for sale, but I DO recall how enchanting Whisper was...I fell into a love of her that has not died. I recall reading this one first...it was the only one our school library had at the time. It actually taught me not to be afraid to try new things. *I know you hear that all the time, about books 'teaching' moral lessons, but honest - it did.* I wish I could read all of these delightful stories again. Whoever finds them laying on a shelf, read them and love them as I once did.
