For a reality check--a must read! This book is an eye-opener. I am not a radical environmentalist, but I do care about what we do to ourselves and our children. This book is about the indiscriminate use of chemicals & radiation and the results of that use. It is focused on Breast cancer, but can be applied to over all health issues in general. It is easy to read and comprehend. I highly recommend.

This is for any woman who has struggled multiple roles!Kate Wallace is a poet, a visionary, and a uniquely talented writer! As a seeker of God and His crazy ways, Kate does a masterful job of sharing her journey from highly skilled professional to dazed mother of three. She shares intimately her struggles with her various roles and calls. The reader laughs and cries as Kate paints fabulous word pictures of the pulls inherent in the life of a multi-talented, multi-optioned woman. from a new mexico gardener...Of the many books I've read on southwest gardening, this was the most rewarding. I learned so much about native and adaptive plants that are suited to our climate and growing conditions here in the southwest. Also about the different "microclimates" that determine proper location of particular plants in the garden so they will thrive. After applying the valuable information from this book to my own gardening efforts I see miraculous results! This book is a MUST for New Mexico gardeners interested in beautiful, water conservative plants.

Ed McGaa, an Oglala Sioux also called Eagle Man, here presents an environmental, personal, and global philosophy of balance. Using traditional Native American spirituality as a framework, Nature's Way is a call for a major change in the way people relate to the world. McGaa, who has studied under Sioux holy men Chief Eagle Feather and Chief Fool's Crow, begins each chapter by describing the qualities of an animal or plant that represents a particular value, such as the wolf ("one among many") or the eagle ("observation"). Personal anecdotes, tribal legends, and stories from around the world support each idea, and the book's somewhat rambling structure is very conversational. McGaa's ideas are not new, but they are well-presented. If we begin to live by the principles that are demonstrated by the world itself, he writes, we will then be in harmony with the world, rather than taking from it destructively. The book's final chapters outline problems such as global warming and overpopulation, which threaten the survival of life on earth. Nature's Way will appeal to readers seeking a hopeful spiritual approach for dealing with seemingly insurmountable problems. --Therese Littleton

A rallying callAfter so many right wing wise-use books recently accusing native Americans of milking the bleeding heart liberal environmental agenda for everything it was worth by refashioning their spiritual heritage to match white middle class eco-fervor like some come hither firework road stand, this book by Ed McGaa is a breath of fresh air, making one realize that the native American love and unity with the earth is not just some greenwashing PR scam. I highly recommend this book to those of us who are involved or simply fascinated by native culture's sudden organization in regaining control of their patrimony, a luxury afforded to them by the realization that sovereignty over their lands entitles all Indian tribes to a slew of business opportunities never before possible. If the growing cash flow of reservation casinos can translate into environmental industries, which it already has at resorts like the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, this book may very well be the rallying call tribal leaders needed to make strength in numbers.

A "must have" resource for every ConsultantThe title of this book should be "Way Beyond Negotiating" because it truly is a one-stop resource for guidance along the way to securing potential clients. Every consultant needs this book to learn how to gracefully negotiate, successfully manage client relationships and appropriately set service fees. "How do I price my services?" is a question I constantly get from fellow consultants, and Susan's book clearly outlines an easy formula to answer this question. This feature alone makes the book worth purchasing; then, as a bonus, the additional chapters are chock full of crucial information necessary to successfully close the deal. I have recommended this book to others, and expect once you read it, you will too!

Great beginner bookThis book is usually used as a college text book but will not bore you like most text books. Great book for those trying to understand the international events of the Twentieth century and the forces that drove them. Lieber is brilliant in his presentation of international politics. A must read for future historians and politicians.
Life is Not Work is one of those little books you often see next to the cash register in book stores or gift shops. An impulse buy. Except this one is more expensive ... It offers more than just little quotations, though. The little essays, personal stories, make this book a cross between a quote book and a Chicken Soup for the Soul volume.
The authors bring us 137 of these short, easy-to-read essays, organized into twenty categories. Listing the categories will give you a sense of the content you'll discover: Balance, Time, Work, Living, Play, Spirituality, Wholeness, Empowerment, Strength, Joy, Stress, Materialism, Repose, Wonder, Nurture, Happiness, Authenticity, Integrity, Community, and Fulfillment. Have I whetted your appetite? Consider the background and perspective of the authors and slide into your easy chair to think about the balance in your life. Forewords from the authors will help you understand who they are and where they're "coming from." A bibliography completes the book, giving the reader an extra sense of connection to the messages and their sources.
This book will rest comfortably, waiting for its next opportunity, next to the bed in our family's guest room.
Be my guest. Read this book gently and contemplate your life-work balance.
