generally good content but very badly edited
A potentially excellent book on the subject marred by: too much redundant and repetitive material, poor organization of content, and absolutely atrocious editing (very annoying!).

A nice book of of BW
I've read 2 books on BW, compared with another book I¡¯ve read, this book is on BW 3.0B which is a more mature DW product of SAP, it not only focuses on the BW transactional stuff but also tries to explain the detailed theories and business cases which are the more valuable points for me. If you¡¯re a BW beginner, this book may not be suitable since it¡¯s not going to teach you how to extract data, setup info source , create data target or create queries in a detail instruction way, but instead bring you a very completely high-level picture of BW architecture and solutions.

The best chapters I would prefer are: Chapter 4 ¨C Information Modeling; Chapter 6 ¨C ETL Services and Chapter 8 ¨C Analytic Application.

Great book for the ones who like things in detail
I've been working as a DBA with Robert Bosch in Brazil and for the last 5 years have been managing our Oracle_SAP installation. Since November,2002 i've been assigned the task to manage our SAP BW, enhance performance and implement new features. Therefore I've been reading lots of books on DW theory since then.
Mastering SAP Business Information Warehouse is an in depth book that helps anyone get to know about SAP's products and a very detailed explanation of SAP BW.
People who have to deal with SAP BW 3.o should not miss it

Good, but not the best one
First time I have read it in electronical form. Than I have decided to buy it in paper form. It is basic book, guide for reports creators and BW administrators. But it is only the basis, I have to get some others manuals from SAP web page to have possibility for effective work.

Very useful
I am new to SAP Business Information Warehouse. I found this book extremely useful to learn the Business Explorer, the frontend tool. This book is a must for the beginner as the steps given in the book can be followed with the demo cube in given in the BW system, all I had to do was to request my administrator to activate the demo cube. We use this book as a reference book and also for training the end users with out developing any further training material at our end. I strongly recommend this book for any beginner to jumpstart with SAP BW. It would be more helpful if the topic on formulas in BEx Analyzer be illustrated with more examples. I also hope to see a similar step-by step guidebook on data extraction, monitoring, tuning etc.,

For Consultants who want to get their SAP-BW-Certificate
This review was written by a consultant, who can look back on 8 years of SAP-experience and almost 2 years of experience with SAP-BW.

This book targets consultants, who want to cross-check their knowledge, before they take their multiple choice test for the SAP-BW-Certificate. It does contain the orginal Multiple-Choice-Tests for SAP-BW 2.1., and it does contain information on SAP-BBW. It is useful, but you should consider the following shortcomings:

(1) This book is on SAP-BW 2.1, but the most up-to-date release is 3.1. There were many changes since then

(2)If you are just a BW-User, who wants to know, which button to push and which report to start, you should consider other books. This book has got few screenshots and it is definitely not for novices. You can use it, to test knowledge, but it is not comprehensive enough, to teach new knowledge.

(3) If you are a systems administrator or a practitioner, who wants in depths technical information, but who does NOT want a certificate, you should consider other books.
Examples: Kevin McDonalds book on BW or a german publication by Christian Mehrwald (SAP BW Relase 3.0)published by dpunkt-Verlag (Mehrwalds book was written in german and to the best of my knowledge it has not been translated yet, though it is the best book on that topic I know) .

With all due respect towards Mrs Roze, her book is rather thin (260 Pages), does use a large letter type, has got many blank spaces and devotes 20-30% on very general topics (OLTP versus OLAP, Exam preparation etc). The structure of the book is rather erratic. I got along with it, as I have got experience, but a novice might be forced to flip pages forwards and backwards a lot. Moreover, this book does not contain that type of hands-on-advice on administration, that can be found in more advanced books on BW. The scientific content of the chapters varies a lot.
Some are too simple, others discuss very esoteric topics, which you hardly need, except in your exam. Even if you are lucky and pass the test, because you memorize all questions, this is not enough to use BW in you daily work.

(4) I agree with the previous reviewer, that there are mistakes in the multiplechoice-tests, that some answers are definitely wrong, and that some tests ask for information, that one can not find in the corresponding chapter.

SUMMARY: This book is still useful, but only for experienced consultants, who want to get their SAP-BW-Certificate,and moreover it has got some serious flaws.

Helped me pass the exam.
I have passed the exam with this book without any prior knowledge on sap r/3 or sap bw. However, there were several questions in real exam which could not be answered with the knowledges from this book. Besides, I should complain about the sample questions. There were several wrong answeres (an exctly same question apeared more than twice and they had different answeres).

Concise & easy to read
If you are new to BW and looking for a brief, but yet detailed overview, this book will help you grasp the bigger picture of BW. The practice tests at the end of chapters makes sure you are really understanding the concepts and terminology. The "Note" and "SAP Restriction" symbols thru the book draws your attention to key points. If "Mastering the SAP Business Information Warehouse" drowns you in detail -- this will be a breath of fresh air! Great resource for training people new to BW and it's concepts.

Seriously out of date
The book is ok. Its not great. You can get something out of it ...

Two main issues:
(1) If you are going to use this book with any BW versions 3.x, you are going to have trouble. This is so because (1.1) some of the screenshots are out of date, and (1.2) there are somethings that 2.x did and used that are not done and used anymore - for example the CS Unit of Measure is no longer used. If you dont know that, you will become old sitting in front of your screen trying to figure out why something is not working.

(2) The books fails to omit some major steps. For example, in going from Ch.4 to Ch. 5 - Queries, you need to load some other data. At no point is this mentioned. I mean its quite obvious that more data needs to be entered, otherwise, Ch. 5 aint going to work - but thats just the problem - its too obvious. Sometimes - when we have been behind the screen for too many hours, we fail to see things precisely because they are TOO obvious. So ... you can wind up spending too much time futzing around trying to figure out why something is not working.

Navigation in 2.0 and nothing more...
Disappointing in both structure and content; surprising thing, cosidering that the authors come with substantial credentials.

It is more of an end-user self-training package targeting the individuals that want to memorize and troubleshoot their way through the setup rather that providing a step-by-step business case driven scenario.

Unfortunately the release that make the subject of the book is already obsolete (well, this is not authors' fault).

The CD-ROM attached to it is of little if any use;

Best overview of BW hands-on tasks
With this book, you can seat down in front of the terminal and begin using BW right away.

On the other hand, you better have some experience building Data Warehouses prior to using BW. There might be 2 or 3 ways to build a business solution and this book is not necessarily a good source for "best practices" or architecture concepts. A good book that could complement this one is "Mastering the SAP Business Information Warehouse".

My Antonia by Willa Cather
My Antonia By Willa Cather was a novel I chose to read for a project. This book was split into five differentbooks, was told by a character in the play, and plotted on closeness vs. distance. I didn't like this book that much. I thought it was too long and pretty boring.
This Book was split into five different books. These books were written by a man named Jim Burden. The first book starts when he is ten years old, and he on a train ride to Nabraska to live with his grandparents. He writes about his whole life through all five books. He also inquires about an imigrant who lives in Nabraska named Antonia.
Jim was the main character in the book. It is based on his life as a richer person watching the imigrants grow in Nabraska. He was writing about the settlement in the midwest. He had a secret love his whole life for this girl, named Antonia. She wants nothing to do with him in the first part of the book. He thought that she treated him with little respect, and not giving him the attention that he wanted.
In this novel he compares closeness with distance. He loves Antonia, and he is phically close to her. At the same time he was so far away from her, she didn't want to have anything to do with him. He has a vision of her in his mind, and that was what he thought of her. She was completely different. Thats why he was so close to her but so far away.
This book was not the best for someone who is looking for a book that will be an attention grabber. I didn't enjoy this book very much. It was just too boring, there wasn't really anything that was too exciting going on in this book. It was about this mans love for a woman, that he never really persued. He just kept it to himself the whole time. Thats not exciting to me.I wouldn't recommend this book for anyone who has to read it in a time period.
