it's a treasure!
Witty Words from wise Women, by B.J. Gallagher, is a treasure that women will want to buy for all their girlfriends-and themselves.

The book's 13 sections target topics such as:

o men ("The cock may crow, but it's the hen that lays the eggs." Margaret Thatcher)

o love and marriage ("Men who have a pierced ear are better prepared for marriage-they've experienced pain and bought jewelry." Rita Rudner)

o struggle and disappointment ("The hardest years in life are those between 10 and 70." Helen Hayes, spoken when she was 82)

o success ("They say getting thin is the best revenge. Success is much better." Oprah Winfrey)

o empowerment "(I'm tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay." Madonna)

But some of the brightest diamonds in this slim book are the insightful, perceptive and witty words introducing each of the sections. Those are the words of its author--B.J. Gallagher.

A Book With Heart
I have found the candidness in this wonderful book refreshing! I now know what to keep on hand, and mail at random to my friends and associates that need a good laugh, a subtle smile and something to relate to! Thank you for keeping us smiling B.J.!

A great book and a great gift...inspiring and funny
This is a book that thoroughly enjoyed, and I want all my friends to enjoy it too. I keep finding reasons to give it to people. It is a very enjoyable read, plus it is beautifully presented. There are so many great quotes in it, many that I had never heard before. After reading it through, I have it on my desk, and I just keep picking it up, flipping through , reading a page, and laughing out loud. Very handy for those mid-afternoon lulls, when you need a little inspirational or humor pick-me-up. I highly recommend it!

With the better part of our lives spent at work, it's a wonder there aren't more books devoted to practical living in the workplace. Franz Metcalf, a Buddhist scholar and author of What Would Buddha Do? has teamed up with management consultant BJ Gallagher Hateley to apply the Buddha's insights to life on the job. What would Buddha do at work? Of course, he'd quit and go find a comfortable spot in the forest to meditate. But those of us for whom early retirement is not an option can still profit from the Buddha's wisdom. Buddha's advice is not always obvious but certainly always helpful. What would Buddha do to get promoted? To influence others? To maintain job security? The answer to the first two questions is that he would simply do his job well. You would think that would also be the answer to the third question. But for the third, our authors teach us the Buddhist notion of impermanence--that in a world that is always changing, job security is an illusion. So although the Buddha himself was focused on liberation, he also offered guidance for the workaday world that, with elaboration from Metcalf add Gallagher Hateley, can itself prove liberating. --Brian Bruya

Take Bhudda's wisdom to work!
I found this book in a little bookshop in Marin Co., CA. Why isn't it being publicized more? Even the authors say "getting promoted is a happy side-effect of excellent work," and this book is just such an excellent work in that it furnishes great exampoles of practical ways to handle ourselves in the ready-made workplace or to create a workplace where dilemmas can be faced with the guidance of Bhudda thinking. Thanks to the authors for this help and recommendations.

SPIRITUALITY FOSTERS GROWTH AND PROFITABILITY
This is one of the greatest books one will ever find on the basics on what helps a business achieve its full potential. First of all, you do not want to be just a good employer, you want to be the best employer you can possibly be. Then, you want happy, motivated, productive employees who WANT to help you succeed, as opposed to those who are just showing up because they need a paycheque. Employees need to work well both independently and as a team. You also want happy, satisifed customers who receive personal, respectful and efficient customer service and value for their dollar. If they find that in your business, they will be back time and time again. Many of the secrets that serve as the driving engine of successful businesses can be found in the age-old basic principles of Eastern Philosophies.

What would Buddha do in this situation? How would he handle it? This book will help provide the answers. Aside from adhering to strong basic management principles, if you run your business based on integrity and strong ethical values, the money will come - it is the end result of the fruits of your labour, the driving force behind your success. Strive to run your business with honesty, respect, compassion and organized thought. By providing a quality product/service that is in demand, at an affordable price, in a unique manner that your competitors are not providing, and staying within your budget, you have the makings of a successful business.

This book may seem like common sense to many but, as a counsellor and teacher in business management with thirty years of experience, I can assure you that many business owners/managers do not think common sense is of any great importance or simply choose not to follow it. They are eventually the ones who show up on the list of bankruptcies. After reading this book, sit down and make a list of how you would like to be treated as an employee. What would keep YOU happy, motivated and productive? Then, ask yourself if you are creating this type of work environment for your own employees. Sound knowledge of business management skills is a must for any entrepreneur, but there is a misconception out there that a successful entrepreneur must be some sort of "super, natural guru." You run a business with the same moral values and principles used in your personal life. The inner peace and contentment one finds in their own personal spirituality can also be applied to the workplace to achieve profitability while maintaining a nurturing, caring, positive, productive environment.

The 101 dilemmas presented here show how ancient wisdom can be used to solve many of our modern-day obstacles and challenges in the workplace. This book is highly recommended and certainly worth a five-star rating - even Buddha would be proud of this one!

Insightful and Hilarious
We all are aware of the cliche "What Would Jesus Do?". In fact whenever I hear that question I groan and I know Jesus covers his ears and says "Get a new line".

I am not a Buddhist, but I think this book is very good and insightful. If you are Buddhist, buy this book, it will help guide you to Nirvana, or at least it will give you a lot to contemplate. If you aren't Buddhist, buy this book anyway, it will make you laugh and it is good lessons for life.

Couldn't put it down!
I totally fell in love with Kieran and the way he put Beau Anna first. They worked so well together.I had a terrible time stopping,so I didn't.I read till I finished.I like the way B J James writes that I looked for more in this series. The problem...can't find them! Need more in this series...I'm HOOKED!

Absolutely wonderful!
AGENT OF THE BLACK WATCH is classic BJ James, full of the elements her devoted fans have come to expect from the Black Watch. Kieran O'Hara is not only one of the "World's Most Eligible Bachelors," but another of those incredibly dedicated, honorable, and compelling heroes James creates. And in Beau Anna Cahill, Kieran has certainly met his match. Sparks fly between this Black Watch hero and the equally strong-willed heroine, as Kieran seeks to unmask a serial killer and to protect the woman he loves at the same time. Add to that heart-pounding tension a glorious setting, lots of mood and atmosphere, and deftly drawn secondary characters, and you have another James masterpiece.

BJ James' books are always a reader's delight. This is no exception. DON'T DARE MISS THIS ONE!

Must READ for building a strong marriage!
I loved BJ and Doug's book on Famous Lovers in the Bible. The use of biblical examples of couples to show the strong and weak qualities of a marriage relationship was a great concept and picked out strengths and weaknesses which were not only obvious, but some qualities I hadn't thought of before. I especially liked the HIS/HERS sections which highlighted the qualities from a husband/wife perspective. I came away with many points to ponder and apply and a few I want even more information on! Will we see more from them?

More power to you
The short time it took to read this book remind me of being consciously aware of the power in not always being right.

Having experienced the stress attached to being right for most of my life and then, over the past few years, finally letting go of being so right by listening and allowing the opinions, knowledge and experience of others enhance my way of being over the past few years, reading this book made it so simple.

Everyone should be give this a manual for living when they become a teenager and then re-read it every few years as a reminder.

This writing team continues to deliver books that are not only a breeze to read, but cut away the superfluous detail and get right to the essence.

"Mark Twain meets the X-files" a great description!
It was great being a part of creating this wonderful, entertaining book, along with such famous writers as Max & Barb Collins, Dave Collins, Karl Largent, and all the others. I especially enjoyed reading it for the first time, as I had only read the first 2 chapters when I wrote my chapter! Bj Elsner did a great job of threading everything throughout the book-I think you'll like it too! ENJOY!

A wonderful collection of research-expository surveys
This volume contains expository introductions to some of the most exciting research areas in algebraic combinatorics. Although most of the articles began life as a lecture at MSRI, the authors have done much more than publish transcripts of their talks; they have produced carefully written articles that contain much information that they could not present during the severe time constraints of the original combinatorics seminar. Anyone interested in entering one of the fields touched upon in this volume would be hard-pressed to find a better way to get started than to study the relevant article in this book.

Since the articles were written there have of course been advances; I will just mention that a number of Jim Propp's matchings problems have been solved, and that Mark Haiman has proved the n! conjecture.

Contents: Matroid bundles (L. Anderson); Combinatorial representation theory (H. Barcelo, A. Ram); An algorithmic theory of lattice points in polyhedra (A. Barvinok, J. E. Pommersheim); Some algebraic properties of the Schechtman-Varchenko bilinear forms (G. Denham, P. Hanlon); Combinatorial differential topology and geometry (R. Forman); Macdonald polynomials and geometry (M. Haiman); Enumeration of matchings: problems and progress (J. Propp); The generalized Baues problem (V. Reiner); Littlewoord-Richardson semigroups (A. Zelevinsky).

One of my favorite authors does it again!
BJ James' NIGHT MUSIC is classic James. I was hooked from the incredibly intriguing Prologue and came away from the Epilogue with a sense of closure and satisfaction that is the hallmark of a great read. Along the way, I enjoyed the magic of what James does so well--creating the strongest possible sense of time and place for her characters to act out their story.

And what a story this one is. Kate and Devlin are two strong, highly skilled people, both of whom have been battered by loss and by guilt. Only through their developing love for one another are they able to find self-forgiveness.

I can't think of another author who gives me as much story, character development, and atmosphere as James. The fact that she manages all that--and manages it so well--within a short category Desire speaks volumes for her talent.

This book is not to be missed. Of course, none of hers are! I hope you have already discovered that. If not, enjoy NIGHT MUSIC and you certainly will.

An esoteric adventure
I haven't found too many books like this one. You can find many books on the subject if you want to learn "how to" techniques of getting out of your body, but what if you just want a good story? What if you just want a novel adventure about an esoteric topic that is usually ignored? Well if that's what you want, this is the book you're looking for. It's not particularly realistic as far as OBEs go; the protagonist can get out of his body far to easily. But who cares. This book lets you entertain the idea of a life that is not limited to the physical realm. For me, it helps me visualize myself that much closer to doing it. But besides that, it's just plain fun. I wish someone would make a series of movies like this OBE thriller. This is the kind of book that you can't put down. And it's not that big, so you'll get through it quickly, leaving you thirsting for more.

A GOOD BOOK
This is a most interesting story about a boy who has to face his talent (astral projection) and its consequences.
I found the story so thrilling, that I almost read the book at one time only throughout the night. The following morning I had swollen eyes ! The only other book about this subject which fascinated me equally was "Frabato,The Magician" by Franz Bardon.
Due to this book I was less shocked. One tends to think that some things simply happen much too fast...
But in itself a truly and thoroughly fascinating book, and most recomendable.
Anyone interested in this subject, but yet "a beginner", will find itvery helpful.

Best book I've ever read!
I am a major bookworm and I have to say that this is by far the best book I've ever read! Lots of excitement and adventure. It's a good book for ANYONE to read.

Already printed in 10 languages and two editions since its debut in January of 1995, this book is essential reading for anyone feeling stuck in a job, a club, an organization, a church or any systematized group. (It's also a valuable guide for people who prefer the security of being stuck and feel pommeled by the wild beating of feathers around them.)

But, get the second edition, so you can take advantage of the 15 pages of identifiers, tools and processes that will take you from figuring out where you are to figuring out how to get where you want to go.

Diversity Without Defensiveness
I finally got around to reading this bestseller and now understand why it's sold so many copies. The beauty of this little book is that it gets at important diversity issues that are often emotionally "loaded" for people, but without making people defensive. I find that many people have set up psychological fences around their attitudes toward race, gender and ethnicity. They've been admonished often enough on these topics that they find it hard to listen anymore. By presenting a charming fable about a peacock and penguins, Hately and Schmidt avoid those fences and get directly and powerfully at the essence of the experience of being different--and about the ways that people respond to differences. This second edition contains the 111-page fable from the first edition, plus 15 additional pages of guidance and resources on how to deal with differences. Even with the additional material, it is a very quick read. Reading carefully, it only took me about 45 minutes to read the fable, and another 10 or 15 minutes to get through the new material. This book would be a perfect pre-work assignment for a workshop on diversity.

Accurately depicts the perspectives of the 'diverse'.
I couldn't believe such a complex issue was presented in such a simple manner. I think it should be required reading for all of Corporate America as diversity goes way beyond black and white. How about women, Christians, non-Christians, degreed, non-degreed, conservatives, liberals, moderates, etc? The list is endless. Excellent reading!
