A must read for pastoral families and counselors
This truly has become a manual ... to find my personal way back to truth. I had looked for the right answers to the questions Tim has used to divide his book.

Part 1 -What's the problem ... Anyway?
What were the forces that impacted my life?

Part 2 -What's the damage ... Really?
I knew I had some damage that caused me to carry extra baggage around in my life.

Part 3 -What's the solution ... Honestly Now?
OK, so how do I get rid of these un-needed/heretic items I have built up in my life experience?

My life-long search for who I am and why I am the way I am; was brought to the surface by this book. Tim's book sets out the unique heritage of Preacher's kids. If pastoral families are not careful they can find their lives being defined by the church and their personal experiences instead of truth.

I have met Tim and found him to be the real thing. I have attended several seminars with Tim as he has taught this book and watched other peoples lives touched as it has mine. He simply and lovingly is sharing life as he has discovered in his own personal experiences as a missionary's kid and in his counseling profession with real live preacher's and missionary's kids. Tim's effort to show us how to be real to our selves, others and God, is indeed unique. I laughed and cried as I allowed this book to be a life-changing experience. I believe every one will learn something about themselves in the "test" Tim has designed to see how many "Holy Heresies" you have developed in your personal life. Very interesting and revealing!

I commend this book to any preacher's kid or missionary's kid but also pastors, ministerial families, and Christian counselors who work with this unique group of people.

Being in a ministerial family is indeed a wonderful privilege. I am proud to be a preacher's kid. I have come to appreciate much more my parents and what they have done for me by providing this unique heritage for my life.

God Bless You Tim,

A Touchy Spot...
Timothy L. Sanford put his finger on a touchy spot that "hurts good" to identify. I am a Pastor's Kid and a Missionary's Kid who welcomes the uncovering of this pain, in order to heal and help others understand. I recommend this read for self-discovery, especially... but it's definitely a revelation for anyone. Sequel, please!

REQUIRED READING!
If you are a PREACHER'S KID, or if you want to better understand someone who is, then this book is a MUST READ. I'm glad I was a PK! I'm also glad I read this book. I only wish it had been around years ago! Tim Sanford touches "all the bases." (Somehow those "sacred cows" do make great burgers.) This book is very HONEST and DIRECT, while at the same time being thoughtful, balanced and caring.

Beautiful book with a sweet message
This book not only carries a precious message, the illustrations are amazing. They are done in a very classic style which kids will love today but will also treasure years from now when looking back at this book. It is sure to be a favorite for kids and tug at the heartstrings of parents and family.

The book is a pure delight!
The book is a pure delight! The English teacher in me loves the rich and vivid imagery. The grandmother in me is deeply touched by the truth and depth of the story's emotion. One of the most important qualities of this book is its universality, for it deals with feelings that all of us, young or old, need to share with each other.

children's thoughts
I have a daughter who is 3 1/2 and a 10 month old daughter....my 3 1/2 year old is just discovering feelings and expressions. She is going through a phase where she says "i don't want to go to (school, or her gymnastics class or whatever)". She is starting to realize that when I take her somewhere she may be missing out on something at home. Or worse yet, that her baby sister might get to do somethng fun with me. I have started to read books to her that will help her recognize her emotions and to help her express them. "I'll be there" is great because I can read it to her and let her know that I am always thinking of her even when she isn't with me. Helping her to deal with her emotions helps her to deal with social situations. By talking to her and reading to her she is better able to be apart from me and know that i will always be there for her.

The book is also great for children whose parents have to be away for extended periods of time. If parents read this book to them before a trip, the child can understand that the parent is always thinking about the child.

I also really like the illustrations used in this book. I have given it as a gift to two friends and will continue to give it as gifts. Children love books, especially ones they can relate to!

yet another review about why EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS
the book explores homosexuality, gender, and transgender themes (among others).
for those of us whose lives already include queer issues, it is refreshing to look beyond their socio-political context, and just enjoy a good book.
those who are new to queer culture are exposed to its humanity with an accesable writing style.

Ordinary People¿s Extraordinary Lives
Ken Harvey's stories have appeared in numerous literary journals. If You Were With Me Everything Would Be All Right, his first book, collects a baker's dozen. Every story is a polished gem sparkling with insight into ordinary people's extraordinary lives. With quiet dignity lonely characters struggle with the human condition in a world where comic relief is dark, bizarre, and inscrutable.

Harvey, winner of this year's Violet Quill Award, read "Mr. Bubble, I Love You" at the award ceremony. In it, twelve year-old Ho focuses his nascent homosexuality upon a gentle, meticulous older man he nicknames Mr. Bubble, who "always smiled and smelled of soap" at his session with Ho's therapist mother. But Mr. Bubble's attentions are only polite indulgences of a child, Ho learns sadly, when he spies Mr. Bubble at lunch doting on his girlfriend.

Most of the stories are set in Lynn, Massachusetts, and each main character appears to fit into family and community. Privately, though, all feel abandoned--disconnected from the very relationships in which they yearn for comfort. In the title story, pragmatic Owen and romantic Arthur are at odds in their long-term relationship, each awkwardly trying to reach the other but floundering, "where nothing seems young, not you, not love, not even death." Theo ("33 1/3"), whose wacky family celebrates RPM anniversaries, will soon be 33 1/3-and feels unmoored by his lover's indifference. Uncle Vincent ("Mariposa") envies young Joey, who easily chooses gender reassignment while Vincent, who came out at 40, feels "he was given a credit card without a spending limit, but the only store he could shop in had just had major liquidation sales" and he had to settle for what was left. Kevin ("Tipping Cows") wants to love his deviant father who seemed "born without a gene that gave you the ability to love." And in "The Near Occasion" Andrew, himself gay, tries unsuccessfully upon his mother's death to re-connect with the father who abandoned them for another man, and thinks, "I began the day burying one parent and am ending it burying another."

Ken Harvey wastes no words, and with leavening humor, fluent dialog, brilliant figurative language, believably bizarre situations, and living characters makes his stories swell the heart long after their reading. His is the art of the short story at its very best.

Humor with a bit of darkness - a great read!
This book of stories walks that incredibly fine line between laughing and crying. Knowing you shouldn't laugh at others' misfortune, you are nonetheless unable to hold back. Mr. Harvey has found a way to see the humor in the everyday lives of the displaced; each new tale brings further understanding. By all means, find a warm corner of the porch and settle in for a wonderful read.

A must read for any manager or HR professional. Clear, concise and very practical in its approach.

really useful book
This book is a very practical, well-written guide to workplace issues. It clearly sets out both law and practice. I think this book is useful to both lawyers and lay people alike. It is also very readable with a great many examples given. I recommend it highly.

Highly informative and good reading
As a social worker I found that this book made an extremely valuable contribution to my understanding the issues around workplace harrassment. The book is written with clarity and sensitivity. Randi Blom, MSW

an intriguing and beautifully written collection
These stories offer insight into the ways people interact. Skillfully and vibrantly written, they will appeal to anyone who wonders what lovers, children and parents are really thinking. Rosenthal's insight into the human heart is stunning, and her quirky sense of humor is an added benefit. I would recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys fine writing, a great sense of humor, and is looking for insight into the ways we live and love.

Bright Light
As Carole Rosenthal exposes the semi-disastrous relations between women and men, one feels as if too bright a light came on over the bathroom mirror: uh-oh, I really do look like that. But exposure of disaster, if sharply poignant, is often comical as well. You can laugh at the sight in the well-lit glass. The sly title, It Doesn't Have To Be Me, also says it IS "me," the ego--everyone's ego--deluding itself the more it tries to rationalize. But delusions secretly recognized and indulged create an absurd triumph of intelligence in these stories. Utterly clear and deadpan in style, right-on in observation, they'll do more for your elusive psyche than an hour with your analyst. Give this book to friends--after all, it doesn't have to be them.

Hilarious
Startling and surreal, outrageous and outspoken, Carole Rosenthal's collection of short stories is also hilarious--fun to read, yet serious. I haven't read any collection this rich in a long time.

Best bridge book I've read (and I've read a bunch)
What I like about this book is that he takes his time to build a point slowly and methodically, with lots of examples. You understand the logic behind the "rules", so you can figure them out for yourself. After reading it, I went back and picked up "Bridge for Dummies", and B4D paled by comparison.

Completely different---completely effective!
I've read many introductory books to bridge, and this is in a league of its own! A very simple, straightforward, logical approach to playing. The book begins with the playing of the hands (in no-trump then trump), and moves to bidding as a logical extension of the ability to win tricks. This approach is unique, and takes allows the player to LEARN the proper bidding, rather than to memorize (too) many sets of numbers for bidding hands. Also, I felt that the other books I have read did not offer a strong foundation in the playing-out of the hands. I'll be purchasing copies for non-bridge-playing friends! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I love this book but have questions
I am a returning bridge player and find this book very helpful in refreshing my mind about the game. I have a question for the author and don't know how to ask him except here. Mr Bayone, where did you find the scoring system which I love but have never seen before? I want to change my bridge table over to your system but need some validation. Thank you

Couldn't put it down.
The pictures and stories that show what alcohol can do to a baby are shocking. More people need to know about this tragedy so it can be prevented. This is a fast reading and fascinating book.

A must read
I use this book in jr and high schools. The kids are fascinated and amazed. Hopefully, this will prevent some of them from drinking during pregnancy, and save a child from this tragedy. This book is not only a great read, but it's full of must know facts. Very highly researched, and written from her heart.

Caregiving Reality
Ms. Falkner provides readers with a dose of realism in living with children exposed prenatally to alcohol. Social service professionals, foster parents and adoptive parents would be wise to read this to gain a better understanding of the devastation FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) causes in the life of the child. Only by facing the truth as a society will we be able to prevent this 100% preventable birth defect. This book would also make great reading for high school students in health classes.

A well rounded plot...
Ten years ago, Kim's widowed mother remarried, and it was an unthinkable marriage in Kim's eyes, to the man she believed had killed her father. She left Florida and the pain behind, but when her grandmother dies in another mysterious "accident", Kim is left with her inheritance and a pack of questions.

When she heads south to claim the bar and home left to her, Kim is faced with old resentments and memories. The easy way out would be to sell out and go home, but Kim is not one to take the easy way. Despite hostility and being forced into repeated confrontations with her childhood tormenter, Zell, she hangs tough. Every day brings her closer to finding out the truth that cost her grandmother her life. Her stubbornness and passion could exact the same toll from Kim, unless Zell makes an impossible choice.

**** The pages of I'll Be Watching you sizzle with sulty passion and crackle with sharply ironic humor. Facing one's past is never easy, and always necessary. The author's use of psychological metaphor is subtle and effective in creating a well rounded plot. ***** Amanda Killgore

Suspenseful and Chilling!
Set in the murky swamps of the Florida Everglades where alligators swim thick and loyalties run deep, comes a chilling tale of family secrets and a town where people will stop at nothing to protect their own.

Kim Lyons inherits Southern Comfort from her grandma Elva. Now is Kim's chance to own a bar, except the good folks of Cypress don't want her sticking around. Ten year ago she had accused one of its prominent citizens of murder. Threats turn serious when Kim starts digging into Elva's death. Was it an accident like the townspeople claimed happened to the last victim ten years earlier? Or is something more sinister going on?

Zell Macgregor isn't supposed to protect Kim after she accused his father of murder. He's not supposed to like her, either, but he does. Torn between his loyalties to his family and guilt over lying on the witness stand to protect his father, Zell wishes Kim would just leave things be and go back to her big city home. He doesn't want to see her hurt or worse. The longer she's in town, the more he wants to act on his attraction to her, which will cause all kinds of trouble.

Ms. Wainscott has mixed a suspenseful and interesting plot with great characterization. Zell was so adorable I couldn't help falling in love with him, and I admired Kim's strength and courage. Oscar the pig stole my heart also! I'LL BE WATCHING YOU is such a great book! Don't miss it!

Another Great Suspense Story By Ms. Wainscott
This was another very interesting and entertaining suspense novel by Ms. Wainscott. There were so many twists and turns and so many possible bad guys that you will be kept guessing until the very last chapter as to who is the bad guy!

Kim left behind a lot when she left her childhood home under the stressful circumstance of having accused the son of a prominent local family of murder. 10 years later she returns to Cypress after the death of her grandmother. What she finds is that things really haven't changed in the small everglades town and that memories are long when it comes to holding a grudge. Someone whats her gone and will go to great extremes to make sure she gets the message. Problem is Kim's tougher then she looks and she plans on staying.

Zell wants to dislike Kim but she is a strong individual that speaks to him in more ways then one. He is finding himself wanting to stick up for her even though it goes against the family. When things start happening to Kim he finds that he wants to help her and is afraid that the people that are messing with her are his family. Things are easy to ignore until someone tries to kill her. Now he can't turn and look the other way and further more, he doesn't want too. Problem is can they find out who wants to hurt Kim before they finally succeed?

This was a fast paced story that will keep you tied to the book until the final page! The chemistry between Zell and Kim is as hot as the Florida Everglades! This was a great book and Ms. Wainscott is now an author I will pick up based on her name alone. For a great suspense you can't beat on penned by Ms. Wainscott!

A magnificent printing of timeless inspiration
This little gem of a book is an ideal gift of peace. Universal, soul-satisfying insights and comforts from the great yoga master who founded Self-Realization Fellowship. For the sincere spiritual seeker here are the fundamentals common to all true religions and spiritualities. For the average person in modern society, here is comfort and relief from the alienation and distress of our material cultures.

As a retired psychologist and stress management trainer, I judge that the ultimate keys to handling stress in this crazy world are to be found in these few pages. They are filled with beautiful nuggets of reassurance and personal empowerment through attunement with universal spiritual principles.

After you have sampled some of these possibilities from yoga's ancient and timeless spiritual strategies, hopefully you'll be inspired to explore some of the other titles the publisher lists herein.

An Exception to the Rule
The world is full of such misery. Where can we turn? Which club? Which therapy? Which religion? It seems that we have to do so much, in order to alleviate ourselves from something so constant and simple. Namely, suffering. We need to join clubs. To join religions. To go through initiations. To afford a therapist. The author of this book is my Guru. I give no weight to any other material. I was initiated as his devotee 26 years ago. The president of the organization that he founded, Self-Realization Fellowship, was a direct disciple of his for 21 years while he was living in our prescence. I live near most of their churches. I have talked extensively with their ministers and monks. But Yogananda was and is a well that you can dip your cup freely from and drink as much as you will. One is not seperated from time and space. His family is the world. Credentials and titles do not matter. This book is an example of what he taught.

Simplicity and the simple fact that one can reach God on the opposite side of the planet from Self-Realization Fellowship Headquarters and be a garbage collector in an unknown part of the world, if one's love for God is intense enough. I am quite assured that if one read this little book 100 times and followed it's principles devotely, one would probably be a greater saint than anyone who lives near Self-Realization Fellowship headquarters, is a monk or nun of his organization, or those who knew him personally while he was living. He is all of ours. This book may be all you need! Others need more equipment and training, sorry to say. This book is very simplistic. Very simple. If I were stranded on a desert island, and I only had one book, I do believe it would be this one. I have all of Yogananda's lessons and service lectures bounded in my library. As well as all of his books, recordings, and the words of his devotees. And all of the yogic methods that he taught. But if one would take a tiny book such as this, and folow it with ferverous devotion, I have no doubt that eventually such a one would go as fast spititually as anyone anyplace and at anytime. Yes. I do like the book.

THE PEACE THAT LASTS
Millions have found new inspiration and spiritual direction from Paramahansa Yogananda's AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI. This newest compilation from the masters inspired works is an excellent aid for the modern spiritual seeker and devotee. Free your life from STRESS, and know that peace which comes to stay.
