THE Book for Trumpet Players
I am a trumpet player of 23 years experience, and the Arban book is the "bible" for every trumpet player. It's focus is on "disciplined" music, and can give you a good baseline for moving into improv. Many clinic and all-state tryout pieces came out of this book tried by time. It would take years to master its total contents. I was playing "new" pieces out of it last night! It will also help keep you from buying dozens of etude books. The book is very methodical with each section introduced in several languages. There is no player who won't be challenged by it's content. It will carry you from middle school through college and waaaaaaaaay beyond. Looking for some of it's inspiration? Check out Wynton Marsalis' "Carnival" CD on Amazon!

Great Great Great
I am a trumpet player, but I also play french horn, euphonium, tuba, trombone, piano, and quitar. In other words, music is my breath and I reccomend this book to everyone who wants to get better at any brass instrument. No matter how good you are, this book will make you better. It will improve your range, style, tone quality, and rhythm. Use the etudes to practice tounging, slurs, rhythms, and reange. The more you do, the better you will get. This is THE brass textbook. I also reccomend 40 progressive etudes (studies) for trumpet by Sigmund Hering. In addition to this book, that book will give you some fun exercises and it will really show your progress. I reccomend both of these books as must-haves for every brass player.

The trumpet bible
A must have for students of the trumpet. This book has it all- many etudes, drills, patterns, and solos. Material for working on any problem/need for the trumpet player.

Something of a budget-priced art book for rap fans, Move the Crowd gets over on the strength of its page-size photographs of Ice Cube, Flavor Flav, A Tribe Called Quest, and many more. Relying on a decade's worth of magazine and newspaper interviews by the two authors, the book often feels stuck in the early '90s. (Heard anyone name-check the Afros lately?) The Ehrlichs toss out quote after quote, vaguely acknowledging a theme before moving on to another; to say that this method leads to a lack of narrative flow is like saying Snoop Dogg curses a lot. The lack of verbal context--ironic in a hip-hop book--also leads to gaffes such as the straight-faced use of a Vanilla Ice quote ("I got stabbed, I've stolen cars... People can't accept that a white kid did grow up in the streets") when the rapper's middle-class past was exposed before "Ice Ice Baby" was even off the charts. In the end, it's the great visuals that make this one move. --Rickey Wright

photographer not given enough credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a book made up of 90% photographs and you can't even find the photographers name. his name should be more promnate on the cover than the title.

Great book
I like it. Actually sometimes I just pick this book and flip in one page, then in another and so on...'Cause this is more a collecton of sentences form various rappers speaking 'bout different subjects'. As a hiphop fan, I like to konw their point of views. Also, the book is well-made, top quality graphics, good paper...I like it a lot.

The Berenstain Bears teach another important lesson
One look at the cover of "Trick or Treat" as Brother and Sister head off into the spooky world of Halloween night and you would never suspect that Stan & Jan Berenstain have something more in mind. After all, we are told right up front that "Even little bears expect a good fright when they go out for treats on Halloween night." But Mama's offhand remark that appearances can be deceiving becomes the basis for an important lesson that Brother and Sister are going to learn that night when they go out trick or treating. The Berentains have become so proficient at their craft that your children will never notice they are being educated as well as entertained by this particular Halloween tale.

Final Note: Parents will find Mama's strict rules for Halloween night to be useful instructions for giving their own little cubs: stay in your own neighborhood and do not eat any treats until you are back home.

It's Grinch Night in Bear Country...
Brother & Sister go trick-or-treating with Fred & Lizzy. They plan to skip Miz Mcgriss' house, because they think she's Gruntilda from Banjo-Kazooie. Hey wait! N64 wasn't around by then! In other words, Too-Tall is gonna teepee the house.

Why does Mcgriss always have a mad look on her face? She had it in this book, and she continued to have it in "Prize Pumpkin"!

Good Childrens Book
The Berenstain Bears "Trick or Treat" is a good book for the 1st time readers. It tells the story of Brother and Sister on Halloween night. They are scarred to go to Miz McGrizz's house because they think she is a witch. They end up going there trying to cuase trouble but are suprised when they find out that she is a very nice person.

BB'S GO TO CAMP-PKG

Excellent primer for first-time camp experience
Each summer, thousands of kids go off to camp for the first time. Naturally, it can be a scary experience (for both parents and kids alike!), but thanks to the Berenstain Bears, we can breath a little bit easier - sharing this book can definitely help to ease some of the pre-camp jitters. In the story, Mama and Papa sign up Brother and Sister Bear for a week-long summer day camp. The cubs aren't too excited about going away every day and worry about everything from making friends to encounters with strange insects and animals. The book also does something helpful for kids going away to sleep-over camps: the daycamp for Brother and Sister culminates in a hike and sleepout on the final night, which will help to appease some of the fears of kids who are scared of spending a night or series of nights away from home. In the end, Brother and Sister realize that camp is an excellent way to spend part of the summer, and can't wait to go back next year to play fun, new games, and see the many new friends they have made. "The Berenstain Bears Go To Camp" is a worthwhile addition to your Berenstain Bears library and highly recommended for kids who may be going off to camp or spending time away from home for the first time.

When the Bears go Camping
This is a great story to get your child prepared to go to camp. A must read.

The Berenstain Bears GO TO CAMP
The Berenstain Bears GO TO CAMP was a good book. It was about how the cubs wanted to go to a camp because they were bored, but at first they didn't want to go. The sister cub didn't like the idea very much only because she didn't want to spend overnight outside. The brother cub was curios about what "fully supervised" meant. This book taught a good lesson about how you shouldn't turn things down until you try them. At first the cubs didn't want to go but then they tried it and found out they actually liked it. The age level of this book is pretty much all ages. Parents can read this book to their children or young kids can read it on their own. I think this book was a good book and I enjoyed reading it.

Prince Charles wanna-be
This book was an excellent influence on my child's rude behavior. My son, (being a huge fan of this line of books) has gone from a barnyard animal to a Prince Charles wanna-be. He now thinks twice before belching in public, he asks to excuse himself from the kitchen table, the list goes on and on. Thank you Jan Berenstain!

The Berenstein Bears Forgot Their Manners
The Book the berenstein bears forget their manners is about brother, sister, and papa bear. They slowly forget about what they are doing. Everything goes wrong, brother and sister fighting. Papa Bear Yelling telling them to stop. Mama Bear is getting mad and starts a new manners plan. This books lesson is to always be grateful with you got, and be respectful. I think the age level on this book is the ages 4-7. I really like this book it teaches kids manners and what do, and what not to do.

"An Educating Book"
The story "The Berenstain Bears Forget Their Manners" by Stan and Jan Berenstain is a very educating book. There are two specific reasons for why it is educating. It teaches children a lesson and it helps parents. The first reason for why this story is an educating book is because it teaches children a lesson. It teaches them that if you don't follow the rules or do what's polite, there are consequences. In the story brother and sister bear learn to be polite after getting a certain punishment every time they said or did something rude and discourtious. The other reason is that the story helps parents. Parents can not only read this to their children to entertain them but can at the same time get ideas on how to teach their children about remembering their manners and being polite. They can take what they've read from the book and apply it to their own home life.In conclusion, this story is very educational. It should be read to all young children.

A Good Overview of All Three USS Californias
This book actually covers three USS Californias - the Armored Cruiser, the Battleship (BB44), and the nuclear-powered Guided Missile Cruiser. However, the bulk of the book addresses BB44. There are many pictures, which will be of interest to modelers or those who are interested in battleships in general. There is also a narrative that provides a high-level summary of the ships' histories. However, this narrative does not go into much detail - which is to be expected in a book of this size. If you are interested in a more in-depth of BB44, I would highly recommend "Blue Water Beat", which goes into great detail of the battleship's history as well as interviews with former crew members. You might also be interested in "Battleship Sailor" by Theodore S. Mason. This book is a personal account of life aboard the USS California from 1939 to 1941. "Golden State Battelwagon" is a very good introduction to BB44.

Guitar players think twice
There are some gems in here, but for the most part I would agree with the reviewer who said that for those over 40 years of age, time tested pieces are scarce. I would also add that although this book claims to be for guitar, the presence of chords ( names but in this case no mini chord charts )over the melody line ( by definition necessary for a fake book ) might be of minimal assistance in this case. Many, if not most, of the songs are in the more "guitar unfriendly" keys. Many ,if not most of the songs, are "incidental heavy" in their chord listings which no doubt preserves the original chord flavoring of the songs well but may require advanced finger gymnastics for the guitar player. Often some accomodation in keys and chords is made when "for guitar" is mentioned, or implied, in a title. So guitar players, despite the cover note that implies some degree of guitar friendliness or accomodation, think twice , or better yet go to a "brick and mortar" store where you can actually look at the keys and chords, before buying.

More a miss than a hit
There are some gems in here for certain, however I agree with the other reviewer who stated that if you're 40+ you won't find a wealth of time tested standards. Also for guitar players the difficulty I would place at intermediate to advanced due to the keys and (perhaps needless)chord complexities (no mini-charts with the chords which would have helped with all of the obscure ones). I have two other fake books from Hal Leaonard ( Christmas guitar and Folksongs )and I can't imagine that this group was gathered by the same team since I really like the other titles. I had several other Hal Leonard fake books on my "wish list" but now that I find the compilations inconsistent in quality I won't buy any more sight unseen.

Not for youngsters
I just want to disagree with those reviewers who say that if you are over 40 this book is not for you. I am over 50, and I find the song selection of this book to be outstanding. I am sure my 21 year old son wouldn't identify with it, but I recognized almost all the song titles and found the variety to be outstanding!

"Pop-This" effectively exposes the naked truth with a smile.
If you love Pop-Up Video, you'll love this book. All the trivial facts and clever commentary you'd ever want to know about Madonna, Jewel, U2, etc. This little page turner allowed me to catch up on all the "info nuggets" and searing humor from the show. The whole Pop-Up phenomenon has taken off over the past few years, and this collection adds to the original show's success. Can you say "visual sniglets?" "Pop-This" is absolutely essential bathroom reading for music junkies and vidiots like me!

fun book! if you like the tv show, you'll love this
this is a really fun book! i enjoyed reading and rereading it! pure fun

Off-the-wall Information in our Information Age
My wife recently presented me with a random and unexpected gift: a copy of "Pop This: A Behind the Scenes Look at the Best of Pop Up Videos." She knows me as a dedicated VH-1 viewer and one of many other closet Pop-Up Video fans. With this book came her explanation: she saw the book, and knew I had to have it.

And what an unexpected treat it has been. Upon receiving my gift, I immediately snuck off to my private reading room (my bathroom) to delve into this rather substantial and colorful book. And "Pop This" did not disappoint: it is packed with original, witty facts about truly original artists and their music videos. Best of all, I find myself returning frequently to my "office" to read it at my own casual pace.

Great off-the-wall information in our information age. Thompson and Lowe are doing something right!

Looking forward to "Part II."

Great Content...But Too Small For Practical Use
This book has a lot of material; great songs and plenty of them. If you want to sit and read it, the book is fine. If you want to put it in front of you at the keyboard to play and sing, the print is too small to use. If you are going to use a fake book, buy the bigger version of this same book. If I had it to do over again I would not purchase this book.

Print Size
The book is as advertised, however please note the print size is unusually small.

Good for amatuer players like myself
This book is great for people who can just get by readingmelody lines but must have the accompanying chords spelled out. I cansit at my Casio keyboard and practice lots of popular tunes with this book, and get good enough so that others think I took lessons (which I never have). My only complaint is a lack of popular Christmas songs.

Trouble With Kids
The Trouble With Grownups is a book that teaches you about the hard leason every child has to over come, that yes sometimes their parents will say,"No" or "Don't Do That." This book is a great book to read to your child. It will help them understand that parents have a hard time as much as children do. It is a fully illistrated book that has a great story that can capture the child's imagination. I to read this as a child and it helped me to respect my parents and family. The greatest part in this book is when the parents turn around and start acting like children, to show the cubs how hard it is to be a parent. Maybe, if every parent did this we would have more respectful children. All in all this is a great book to read and highly recomend people to read the other Berenstain Bears books.

A change of perspective.
The book opens with Papa and Mama Bear in grumpy moods. Papa yells at Brother for taking the sports section of the paper, Mama yells at Sister for talking on the phone too long, Mama and Papa yell at the cubs for playing with their food and for not giving them notes from school on time. The cubs go to school the next day and have to prepare for the Parent's Night Talent Show. After talking with their friends, they decide to put on a play called The Trouble With Grownups, which is the hit of the night. The show reminds the parents what it was like to be a cub. In the morning, the parents switch roles with the cubs so that they can see what it's like to be a parent. At the end they remind the cubs that they will probably be parents someday too, which gives the cubs something to think about.

The book never explains why Mama and Papa are so grumpy. However, most children can probably relate because people don't always explain why they are in a bad mood. However, Sister Bear's creation of a bowl from mashed potatoes for gravy was a brilliant example of creativity and it seemed more confusing to me that she got yelled at about it.

As a sidenote, I enjoyed this book a little more than I thought I would because it also briefly explains all the work that goes into putting on a play.

Overall, this is a good book for both parents and children to read together; it may help children see what it's like to be an adult and it may help parents remember what it's like to be a kid.

The Trouble With Children
The Trouble With Grownups is a good book that every parent should read to their child. Brother Bear and sister bear feel that their parents are to hard on them and let them do nothing. Like most kids they don't relize that it's hard being a parent to. Brother Bear and sister bear get a taste of their own medicine when their parents start acting like them. Finally the cubs relize what things their parents can go through. I think this is a good book because it can teach a child the means of respect in words they can understand. This is a fully illistrated well written book. I to read this as a child and it help me understand the importance of parents and respect. Every child should pick up this book and read it because maybe it will teach them to me a little better to their parents.
