Time Is Slipping Away
Jake is an inspiration to all who have read his poetry books. I have been inspired twice because I have met this young man. He is a gifted writer and is like a storyteller using poetry. Jake reminds us that despite our shortcomings, we are capable of achieving our dreams. His poetry reflects life experiences we all share. Every parent needs to share this young man's story with their children because they need positve influences to help shape their lives for tomorrow.

Time Is Slipping Away
What a wonderful compilation of poems, and thoughts Jakes has compiled. Jakes parents must be very proud of their son. The book takes me back to the time when I was young, and full of the wonders of life. We are proud to have Jake as a MAA(Motown Alumni Association)member.

This kid's going places..
I am a librarian at a small public library with a very multicultural community base. In order to increase our poetry collection I branched out and ordered new authors. Mr. Daisy's book made it worth my while. Ever since receiving his book in early 2002, we have not been able to keep it on the shelves. People of all ages, races and backgrounds have found his poetry, "moving and inspiring", "comforting", and feel "he understands my world". This book is a wonderful addition to anyone's library, whether public or your home collection.

So Real
Kyran Daisy has captured the emotions that come hand in hand with strength, frustration, misery, rage, tenderness, desire, love, heartache, and heartbreak and shared them with his readers in a mesmerizing flow of phrases. Each new poem brought a new rush of goosebumps to my skin. I fully experienced his joy and his sorrow through his brilliant words.

I don't think there is a soul on earth who would not find their own personal truth in the experiences of Mr. Daisy. As one reads the verses, one wonders if the poet was actually right there, experiencing these emotions right beside them. There is so much wisdom in the words of this young man. He has such talent, and so, such a future in poetry!

"Can't Nobody Take Me Away"
I THANK KYRAN FOR CREATING A TRULY INSPIRATIONAL BOOK OF POETRY. IT MADE ME OPEN MY EYES TO THE EMOTIONS CAPTIVATED WITHIN EVERY STORY. THE BOOK IS BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED AS IS THE MAN HOW WROTE IT. WITH EVERY WORD ON THE PAGE ONE COULD TELL HIS LOVE FOR POETRY. THE BOOK MAKES YOU REFLICT ON THE PURPOSE OF POETRY; TO REACH DOWN INSIDE YOUR SOUL AND LET GO OF THOSE POWERFULY FEELINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOU HAD. I HOPE THAT KYRAN FINDS THE MOTIVATION TO WRITE ANOTHER DELIGHTFULLY, MOTIVATING BOOK.

Lessons for Life, not just Martial Arts
I have been studying various forms of martial arts for a long time before I found hontai yoshin ryu. Fabian Sensei is an amazing example of how one should walk the path of the true warrior. I read his book after taking a class with him and it's really helped open my eyes to what a traditional martial artist is, and how he sees the world. It's autobiographical, but he uses his own experiences to explain his steps along the path.

The main thing that he stresses throughout the book is that the Nine lessons are FROM Martial Arts, not just FOR martial arts. He expresses the lessons one must learn to master things, and they can range from a study of martial arts, to tea pouring, to flower arranging. The lessons are life lessons.

An amazing book!

Guidelines for the Way
The book "Clearing Away Clouds: Nine Lessons for
Life From the Martial Arts," by Stephen Fabian, is
written as an autobiography of Fabien sensei's
training and development as a martial artist. The
Fabian sensei takes the reader from his initial
exposure and introduction to the martial arts,
through his development to a point when the student
then becomes the teacher. Along the way you Fabian
sensei shares the trails and challenges of a young
college student, on learning to living on your own,
on the hectic, sometimes daunting demands placed on
a graduate student, to learning to function in a
foreign country.

Though the book is not necessarily meant to be
instructional, at least not in a traditional sense,
Fabian sensei provides a set of nine "lessons" or
guidelines to help the aspiring martial artist
through the travels along the Way.

These lessons are presented in a defined order, each
building on the previous lesson. The lessons are
presented in an abstract way, supported by
developmental stories from the author's life, which
force the reader to think about and internalize the
information.

This is not a "become a martial artist in nine easy
steps" type of book; this book provides real life
experiences of someone that have used the martial
arts to help shape their life, and become a better
person for it.

It several subtle ways, the author helps to
differentiate between the fast-food type of martial
art school whose primary objective is the
development of "martial athletes" and the more
traditional dojo's (dojang in Korean) that cultivate
true "martial artists".

As a practitioner of Japanese martial arts, I found
the chapters of the book related to the challenges
of living in Japan particularly interesting.

The book is very well written, and has a good
structure and flow to it. I highly recommend this
book to anyone that is interested in the martial
arts, particularly those that truly embrace their
training as a path along the Way.

The best
The contents of this very unusual book is the Lord talking to
you. You can call it God's Love Letter's to you and be perfectly accurate. Don't you just love for Him to talk to you about all things? He gives us the answers to any and all problems in this volume. You have to endulge or get lost in it
to really experience the truths that He gives to you.

Come Away My Beloved
Wow! Just in time GOD! This arrived at a criticial time when I needed to HEAR FROM GOD and indeed HE SPOKE DIRECTLY TO ME AND EVERY SINGLE SITUATION I WAS FACING! As a MINISTER, I recognized the WORD of God flowing forth in each message - which is the one true CONFIRMING WITNESS that Bobbie Coates was INDEED DWELLING IN THE THRONE ROOM AND LISTENING TO THE ALMIGHTY! I can't say enough about the truth of each message and impact that it has had on my attitude - in spite of every obstacle! Praise God for Leon Coates obedience to publish this work! It's A MUST HAVE!

Come Away My Beloved by Leon Coates
Our Father God is so awesome and so very good to us. This book
is so very unusual. It is quite different from most spiritual
books in that this whole book is the Lord talking to you as an
individual daily (or at any time you desire to read it). You can
find the answer to all problems by listening to the contents and
voice of Father God through the printed pages of this book. All I can say is Glory---Hallelujah!!!!!!

Short & simple but very powerful
This tape is only about 30 minutes long total. On the first side, Doreen Virtue gives a very concise summary of karma and other spiritual principles. She explains that while karma is based on cause and effect, we are not obliged to suffer because of past mistakes. The idea that growth can only come through suffering is an illusion. She explains that many of us have made vows in other lifetimes, such as poverty, celibacy or simply to suffer, that are affecting our present lives. She also reminds us that linear time is not real; everything, including our "past" lives, is happening now. Side two of the tape is a very powerful meditation that, with the help of angels, allows us to release karma from this and other lifetimes. She gives a very complete list of possible ways we may be depriving ourselves or suffering from events in this or other lives, and has us release all of it. She asks us to let go of the pain we may have caused others as well as pain we have suffered at the hands of others. I have only listened to it once so far, but I know I will listen again many times to be reminded of these precious lessons.

EXCELLENT TAPE!!!
This tape has really helped me & continues to do so every time I listen to it,..I highly recommend this one to anyone that is even remotely interested in it,..as it helps you clear away things that you didn't even know that you were carrying around,...

POWERFUL...EFFECTIVE..GREAT!
My girlfriend and I are channeled energy healers and we used this tape the other day...we both experienced powerful shifts and clearing of energies...I felt a lot of energy being channeled through me at certain points during the tape very similar to when doing in-person karmic-releasing (or having it done to me) and we both felt a lot lighter. Since then I have been using this tape a few times a day sometimes and feel that something is always released..usually I will go down deep into meditation and experience currents of energy or uncontrollable body movements...a sign of releasing issues and such...this is a very powerful and wonderful way to clear Karma..so far its the most effective taped method I've heard. Thanks so much Doreen!

Strong, believable heroine
Emma Price is a strong, convincing character with enough vulnerablity to make you root for her. This mystery is set in the hip, dangerous world of New York City, which the author describes with great detail and authority. You'll worry about Emma, her failing marriage, and its immediate effects on her beloved son, Liam. I found myself nervously flipping through the pages wanting things to work out for her. I'll have to buy the next book just to make sure.

A real page-turner!
With sharply drawn characters and layers of complexity, The One That Got Away kept me up late reading to see what would happen next. What did a woman shot by the side of the road in New Mexico have to do with the deaths of two policemen in a seemingly open and shut case - or for that matter, the drowning death of Emma Price's babysitter? And Emma Price made a wonderful heroine, too. It's not like she knows karate and can hack into a computer with one hand tied behind her back. Instead, she puzzles it out along with the reader - and I certainly enjoyed going along for the ride.

Gripping mystery featuring the everywoman next door
This is a pageturner that will keep readers riveted as Emma Price tries to solve a murder that's hit close to home while trying to keep her life from falling apart. Details of family life ring true, as does the welldrawn New York setting. Terrific summer reading, and an impressive debut for author Naomi Rand.

Telecommuting Success: A Practical Guide for Staying in the Loop While Working Away from the Office

best book on telecommuting
I recently reviewed a number of books on telecommuting and distance collaboration for a research center (...) and Dziak's book was the best I found on telecommuting.

While some other books dwell too much on details of home office setup (which this book does cover thoroughly in ch 4) Dziak is by far the most insightful about the real challenges of telecommuting, which are social issues of staying in touch. The book gives prescriptive advice in easily-digestable forms. Dziak is quite fond of top-10 lists, but manages to pack a lot of good content into this somewhat gimmicky format. My most-reference part of the book was his '10 Ways to stay on the corporate radar screen' (p. 181).

The Only Guide You Will Need for Telecommuting
Michael Dziak's book is very thorough, and is a comprehensive guide on telecommuting. The check lists, forms, and practical tips are very usefull. This book offers so much for anyone operating a home office, it is a good investment even if they don't telecommute. I agree with other reviewers this is the desk companion or bible for telecommuters. I highly recommend it.

Hitting Home
This is a good book. The design is very approachable, and the writing is quite readable - especially in an age when people would *like* to explore telework, but don't quite know where to begin. From Telework 101 to senior-exec-level concepts, it explains much of what today's teleworker - and even the at-home entrepreneur - needs to launch a fully-functional home office, without losing touch or professional stature with the corporate community.

Good One
The first chapter caught my interest since it covers a flight just like one of mine. Fun to read about the flight attendants. I found it entertaining and hated to put it down. The characters are what makes this book such a compelling reading. Berry immediately captures your heart and John Blake is a perfect blend of Kris kristoferson's sexy outlaw and John Denver's romantic outdoorsman. Ms Williams captures their spirit with just the right amount of descriptive phrases to help you relive the era. I also enjoyed the humorous tone of the book. Ms. Williams should write again!!!!

A whirlwind fantasy fulfillment
I really enjoyed it. It was fast reading and very interesting. I like your natural and honest writing style. The jumps back and forth in time were almost too much, but just as I was beginning to get confused by them, the segments of the time frames got longer and I was able to settle in. I finished it in three evenings and had to make myself put it down each night. That's a good sign. I enjoyed the author's honest and down-to-earth sense of humor. Thank you Mary for sharing your fun creativity. I can't wait for the next book.

Give us more!
Great book! I want to hear more about Berry's adventures and all the fascinating people she meets along the way. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Fly Away is one of those books you don't want to put down but want more after you've finished it. I have actually read it twice.

So the Wind Won't Blow It All Away
Published in Hardcover by Delacorte Press (August, 1982)
Author: Richard Brautigan
Amazon base price: $12.95
Collectible price: $59.99
Average review score:

Brautigan's last work was most powerful and effective
In this, the last novel he wrote before his suicide by shotgun in 1985, Richard Brautigan returned to the source of all his strongest previous fiction: his marginal, unhappy childhood in the Pacific Northwest. In earlier and better known works Brautigan comes off as a playful, whimsical fantasy-smith almost as interested in amusing himself as in communicating with the reader; but in "So The Wind.." that has changed. The Brautigan who writes this book is a sad but not humorless veteran of life who is trying hard to get his message across to us. The central narrative passage of the book seems to be barely-disguised autobiography, telling the story of an accidental shooting in which the narrator (Brautigan?) killed his best friend in a small Oregon town in the 1950s. This sequence is "framed" by a circular narrative in a much lighter mood; here Brautigan is using a technique normally associated with Latin American "magical realism". The book contains some of Brautigan's most lucid writing. I first read Richard Brautigan when I was 15 in 1972, and I have read most of his work in prose and poetry. For its literary complexity and human depths, I would consider "So The Wind.." his best work. It's a shame the book is out of print.

THE WIND CANT ERASE
he takes you in into his heart in this one. the lost that he feels innocense blown away the ache in its place. Its a very ERRIE placeBrautigan walks us through a vanishing america wistfuly he must recover a past thats alreay extinct. HE THINKS THRU BACKWARDS PLACE METAPHORS AND SYMBOLS OF REGRET.places like tombstones on his path to escape an unfortunate act.AS always theres the random wonder in .

The most achingly beautiful novel Brautigan ever wrote.
Richard Brautigan's story of a young boy whose life is forever changed by the decision not to eat a hamburger is simultaneously sweetly amusing and heartbreakingly tragic. That this novel is out of print, especially in light of his death in 1984, is equally tragic. If you read no other Brautigan work, read this novel.
