a moving and enticing tale
The story of the young girl who finds and fights for love is classic, but Payton Lee puts a new spin on it by examining issues of physical beauty, juxtaposed with a woman's quest to find her own beauty, within herself, and for herself. The author also has a talent for writing the erotic, and, at it's best, the story is a sensous tale that celebrates the body and the mind. I would recommend this book, especially for people who enjoy exploring more sensual literature.

Such a GREAT Romance
This book is a fantasy about a girl named Rigan who meets and falls in love with Prince Paul, despite her opinion about herself being plain. He sees her inner beauty and loves her for that.

But a jealous girl gets in the way, causing Rigan some troubles. Buy this book, read it, and enjoy it! If you're into that Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, Snow White kind of thing, you'll LOVE this book. If not, something's wrong with you.

This book will change your life.
A few years ago I went through a very difficult seperation. After spending months in traditional psychotherapy and feeling like I was not making any progress, I decided to personally work with Jillian Smith. I traveled down to Tucson to work with her for 3 days. The work that we did has changed my life forever. I feel a greater alignment with the universe, I am more in touch with myself, I feel more loving, more compassionate and more intuitive. The experience was this and so much more. It touched and awakened my soul. The difference between traditional methods and Jill's work is the difference between the ego and the soul. Reading her book will undoubtly touch you in a place you never realize you had.

Healing techniques presented are original and effective.
I use many of the techniques developed and presented by Jillian in my private psychotherapy practice and recommend them for individual use.

Beautiful!
This is another GREAT book of Miyazaki's. The pictures are beautiful... the story is cute... what more can I say?

"If you forget it, you'll never find your way home"
Imagine being a typical, slightly self-centered 10-year-old girl, and suddenly finding yourself the only human employee at the Abura Ya, a bathhouse for the spirits. Your parents have turned into pigs, and if you cannot find a way, they will eventually become snacks for customers of the resort. Your employer is a giant old woman named Yubaba, who drives a hard bargain and intends to make you work every moment.

This is Chihiro Ogino's lot in the manga version of Hayao Miyazaki's 'Spirited Away.' Certainly a tough role for an adult to deal with, one cannot help but admire Chihiro (now called Sen) for her fierce determination. In the world of Abura Ya she manages to find friends like Haku, a teenage boy with magical powers, and Lin, the co-worker who looks after Chihiro and helps her snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

In this third volume Chihiro starts her job as a bath attendant, performing the backbreaking labor of scrubbing floors and baths and waiting on customers. When an awesome stink spirit shows up for a wash, no one wants to go near it. Naturally, Chihiro gets stuck with the job. What ensues is a surprise for all as Chihiro discovers that she has strange friends in even stranger places.

Some notes. These beautifully colored manga are done in Japanese order [right to left, top to bottom]. At first, this is a bit confusing, but after a while, it gets to be fun. In addition, it preserves the effect of the original manga page layouts, which really is the best way to present them. Japanese sound effects are left as is, but a translation guide is included.

Adorable, quirky, and smart.
This is one of my favorite children's books. While it does teach the wisdom of being open to new people and experiences, it doesn't feel at all preachy. Instead, it's lively, colorful, and fun. It's one of those books that adults will like as much as the kids.

Learning that being different is okay.
This beautifully illustrated book teaches the lesson that you can't always believe what others say about people who look or act "different". A girl visitng her aunt in a small Texas town learns that lesson and passes it along to all of the other residents. A must for "pig lovers". One of Ms. Tusa's best books.

Warning - Not for reading with kids!
I mistakenly picked up this book and began reading it to my 7 year old son, thinking it would be a fun read together, which might inspire him to explore other books of this topic matter. In the first page I coughed my way through the word "G--D---" and found myself coughing my way through reading the entire first chapter. I found it too much effort to "bleep" my way through the tricky French-Canadian-Cowboy dialect of the trash-mouthed main character and eventually put the book down. I can't say I enjoy reading those words, myself, even.

So, if you are a parent and think that these older fiction books are more "safe" than the onese being produced today... think again.

YOU WON'T REGRET BUYING THIS BOOK! IT'S A MUST!
This book is just wonderful. . . I couldn't put it down. Cushman is truely an artist. He shows the funny side to a very real issue. His characters are deeply developed and so loveable. The reading is light enough to enjoy as a book for pleasure but would be very useful to a student of Native American culture and the Native American's assimilation into "civilized" society. You'll feel like you're there with the Champlains. You'll want to reach out to them. . .too bad you can't literally climb into a book.

SPIRITED - ENTICING -- NAIVE - SOMETIMES SILLY
Jennifer Fairchild is running away. At 18, she seems to think that she can take care of herself. She starts out by losing her purse and money.
Ah, but then a job presents itself. Well, two jobs really! One as a housekeeper and the other as a mail-order bride.
Being quick witted she applies for both as they are offered by the same man. She decides to show up as a housekeeper and trades in her ticket as a bride for money. That should do it.

When Cade Morgan, at 31, shows up at the Gold Shoe railroad station after a very frustrating day he does not find his bride to be.
Carl Turner, the shifty eyed station agent, had misdirected Jenny to Em's Bordello, thinking she was one of Em's girls.

When Cade catches up with Jenny she has been felled by the giant of a miner, his friend, "Bear". Whoops here we go again!

You will love this story of a fiery, independent miss who is determined to forgo marriage but constantly makes mistakes in her assumptions of her place in life.

Now if Cade could only get past his abhorance of marriage and virgins and his lust for his young housekeeper he could get back to his businesses. Being really wealthy, don't ya know!

One thing leads to another with Jenny plotting to get her young sister, Izzy out to Colorado with her and set up their own housekeeping. She just can't seem to get her plotting right!

The story is very refreshing - a bit lustful - and entirely engageing - moves at a very good pace and you do love the characters. A bit of a mystery [that wasn't too hard to figure out] -- highly enjoyable!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- most interesting keeper.

Great!
This is book 2 in a series of 3 for "Brides of the West." Traveling west, Jennifer Fairchild soon finds herself penniless and in need of a job. Cade Morgan decides to hire her as a housekeeper. Not very long into the arrangment, both parties give cause to regret the deal. And then trouble hits as a mystery unfolds...touch of murder, spot of adventure, and spice of romance between spirited characters. Delightful breeze of read!

Not Just for WWII Buffs
This is not a book for just WWII buffs. I guarantee that anyone who appreciates fascinating and well-written non-fiction with an original angle will love They Can't Take That Away From Me. What sold me was the unique and artistic style employed in this POW memoir; it brought a fresh perspective to Ralph Rentz's struggle, triumph and the invincibility of his nightmare.

More than just a "Sentimental Journey"
They Can't Take That Away From Me truly is an odyssey of one, rather atypical, American POW. However, it is more than just a "Sentimental Journey". This memoir is unlike any other WWII story, in that it reaches beyond the prosaic collage of nostalgic gore and glory and invites the reader to hear the song inside the bruised head of a musician who finds himself without his band, his saxophone and clarinet, without his freedom and even his own sanity, but never without his music. It is a tough tale, but it is softened with a lyrical literary style that makes it flow like the Pacific. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about music, adventure and inimitable tragedy.

A treasury of Nursery Rhymes
I was very hesitant to order nursery rhymes without seeing the book as many of the newer ones have changed the rhymes. These books have left them in the form I remember learning as a young child which is what I wanted for my grand children. I am very happy with these books.

A Treasury of Nursery Rhymes : Over the Hills and Far Away, Ring-A-Ring O' Roses & A Ding, Dong, Bell -- The hard cover boxed set is a great item for a great value.

The books contain traditional and classic rhymes. The illustrations are what make the books exceptional. They are BEAUTIFUL. I would definately recommend these books over any of the Mother Goose books on the market. I'm buying it again as a gift.
