Hedge Away brings Amherst alive like never before
The town that Emily Dickinson resided in has never been depicted more vividly. Lombardo leads the reader into Amherst by the hand and paints pictures that I certainly will never forget

Real Life in 19th Century New England

"A Hedge Away" brings alive the people and institutions of one small, but vibrant New England community in a way that challenges our preconceptions about what Victorian American small towns were like.

Refreshingly free of heavy-handed political interpretation, Lombardo's text gives us enough detail to draw our own conclusions.

Though I live only a few miles away from the small town that is the subject of this book, until I read it, I had no idea of the richness of the characters who populated its streets a hundred years ago, or of the many tragedies and scandals they endured.

This book is a "must read" for anyone interested in 19th century New England!

Instuctions for Single Christians
Dynamic, informative as well as encouraging for christians who are
who are trying to establish a strong relationship with God. This
book teachs how to spot and resist bozo(a.k.a. Satan). It also
teaches us how to escape circus(unrightous)living and how to
release emotional baggage. Best of all, it teaches us how to obtain salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and how to be lead
by the spirit to the man/woman God intend for us to have. I enjoyed reading this book and would reccomend this book to all single christians and teenagers.*

How To Steer Clear Of A Bozo And Stay Away From The Circus
The book is awesome. For about three weeks now I have been going through something very personal. As I was reading the book I felt like Apostle Wayne Wallace was speaking directly to me. But before reading this book, I had already made up in my mind to take care of me first, God's way. I have been praying for a husband for years. After reading this book I know what I need to do now. Thank you Apostle Wayne Wallace. Pontiac, MI

Read this play
"Jean and Dinah" offers you an insight into a country that does not only exist as palm trees and white beaches. The paly offers an inside perspective on a culture that has to deal with poverty and social problems. 'Jean and Dinah' - the two heroines - are two Jamettes that lead and live a fight against colonialism and history. Carnival, Trinidad's most important event of the year, functions as a frame for the drama. In Trinidad Tony Hall's drama is considered to be one of the most important dramas in contemporary writing. Whoever wants to get to know Trinidad and its people should put the Baedeker (travelling guide) aside and read this play.

Jean and Dinah - a must
The context of the play commands Caribbean, but especially Trinidadian, jamette history - all those who live below the diameter of respectable society. Badjohns such as Mastife, Batonier and Hannibal, and legendary women of the streets such as Alice Sugar and Boadicea (Bodi) are invoked as part of its natural landscape. Creole language is also interestingly utilized, commanding calypso as poetic and literary referential points along with Shakespeare and the Romantics.

The Little Ghost Who Wouldn't Go Away/El Pequeno Fantasma Que No Queria Irse is a bilingual (English and Spanish) storybook for young readers, about Rebecca Garcia, a young girl determined to learn why a little ghost continues to quietly haunt the mountain community of El Rito in New Mexico. Great Children's book
Having lived in northern new mexico for most of my life, I can relate to this book. My kids love it and ask me to read it to them again and again and again.

Do any of you own any that you are willing to sell? Please email me Vricellagail@hotmail.com. or if you just want to talk about them..

One of my all-time favorite series for teens!
I absolutely adored the Swept Away series! In Love on the Range by Louise E. Powers, Tina has the chance to live in the time period she finds the most fasinating - the old American west! With the help of her friend Ashley's computer, Tina is "swept away" for an adventure in another time - a 20th century girl in 19th century America. Her adventure helps her deal with her "furture" problems, and Tina learns some important life lessons. I highly recommend this book (and the whole series for that matter!).

Loving and Letting Go: For Parents Who Decided to Turn Away from Aggressive Medical Intervention for Their Critically Ill Newborns

I am so glad I found this book!
After having decided to remove my 2 1/2 month old son from life support, this was the ONLY book I could find which dealt with our situation. Dr. Davis deals with this topic with such insight and sensitivity I felt like she must have been there with us every step of the way. Of all of the books which I was given on dealing with life after the death of a baby, this was the one which truly gave me comfort and helped me to find peace with the decisions we made about our son's care.

Must-read for NICU parents with life decisions to make.
This book wraps it's arms around you and hugs you oh so tight.

Dr. Davis changed my life with her book. In 1993, my husband and I were faced with the toughest decision of our lives -- to continue the fight for our son's life or not. Dr. Davis helped me to realize that no matter what decision we made at that point, we would question it -- That there were no easy choices to make. The line from the book that has stuck with me all these years is, "Were we prolonging life....or prolonging death in our attempts to keep our son here on this earth?"

Reading this book will help any parent, with a similar decision to make, come to terms with their decision. Anytime I begin to question our decision from years ago, I just reread Deborah's book, and I confirm that our decision was the most unselfish thing we've ever done in our lives.

May it bring peace to your souls, as well.

Carolyn

Have you heard these words????
If you have, then this book is for you! If your child is in the terrible twos-or threes, then you will both like this book! It is amusing for the toddler to be in the grown-up role. There is a message for parent and child alike.

mommy go away
allows the child to act out the fantasy of being in charge of the world-and as such to gain a sense of competence about the self.

Not Fade Away, Or, Quality Woodwork: An American Myth
Published in Hardcover by Yardbird Books (October, 2002)
Author: William Keisling
Amazon base price: $25.00
Average review score:

Booklist reviews as follows:
Keisling (The Meltdown) lets his mordant wit run rampant through this voluminous, entertaining novel, set in the Cold War-preoccupied 1970s. This is the story of a 17-year-old high school drop-out and wannabe rock star who believes he's the reincarnation of Buddy Holly -- hence the book's title, taken from Holly's hit song. That story, however, is woven together with two others -- one concerning the development of Prometheus, a super computer capable of world destruction, and the other about a megalomaniacal but unimportant career army officer who misunderstands an order given long ago by a paranoid president. All of this is wonderfully written--there are some memorable characters and lots of satire, whimsy, and irony....At moments the book is reminiscent of John Barth's early work. --Jo Manning, Univ. of Miami

modern milestone of fiction
This book has it all--rock and roll, crazy generals trying to blow up the world with nuclear weapons, action, suspense, you name it. A real page-turner, the plot is more fun than a barrel full of monkeys.

Informative, appreciative, and stimulating resource
This is a wonderful book. The writer knows the era and the songs inside and out. His analysis is incisive, thorough, and original. He is always fair. He comes up with some insights that will make you look at the music and the songwriters with fresh eyes and ears.

Very well done, wonderful book
this is very well-researched and written. The author must have spent a long time on this book. This is a great reference book and you'll find that you use it much more often then you think.

Another hit in this great series!
Ashley has done it again! This time she has transported herself and her friend Miranda back in time..and to the land of knights no less! Now both girls must struggle to survive their adventure, both "back in time" and in the future when they accidentally bring back a knight to the present time. Can they really help this old fashioned knight blend in to their modern day high school? If you can get a hold of this book, read on!

Great Teen Series
This book was another great book in the swept away series. In this one, Miranda and Ashley travel back in time to the time of King Arthur and his knights. And by some stroke of luck Miranda brings one of the knights back with her to the present time. It is a wonderful time travel book and series for that matter.
