Come Away My Beloved

A wonderful amazement of God's Love.
It will touch your heart, pierce your soul and correct wrong mindsets. It will make you weep Godly tears of joy. It will bring you closer to your Heavenly Father with words of wisdom and insight. A must for any Follower of Christ hungry for a deeper relationship with God. Ready for a touch of fire from the Holy Spirit? Then this book is for you. Read it often and always.

Heavenly Perspectives
I have had this book for a long time now, but only recently started to discover what a gem I had. I found it, a good few years ago, among a pile of second hand books I was rummaging through. About 2 years ago I read one or two extracts and found it so comforting that I immediately passed it on to a friend! Two months ago it came back to me - unread! But what a blessing it has been.

I think the author is a lady, but I'm not sure. One thing that I am sure of though, is that it is authored by a saint. It is written, in the main, "as if" the Lord were speaking directly to Frances. She/he seems to be documenting the constant love and comfort, and also loving correction, that the Lord is pouring into her life. It is this heavenly perspective which interprets and redefines all that comes her way - the nominal church, the demands on time, the lures of the flesh etc. Superimposed upon all the manifold and varied revelations is one of a gracious, tender, loving and strong Father. The true Christian will immediately recognise that One to be his God.

Because all believers who truly long for closeness with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, share a similar pilgrimage, you will find, as you come to this book, prayerfully (or at times in utter spiritual bankruptcy), that again and again it will speak precisely to your condition. But don't make it your God - heed the warning given often in this book of finding God for yourself. Frances wants you to come to Jesus and hear what He has to say to you, in your circumstances and calling - and so does Jesus, I might add. But get a vision of love, sacrifice, discipleship and devotion here that has almost been lost in the polarising camps of the laid-back-Christian-seeker-friendly-entertainment cult and the over-doctrinal-classification-artistes, who want a revival of Puritanism in our day. Get to the marrow - you'll find plenty of that here.

In A Spiritual Slump? Read This!
This is a beautiful book. It is beautifully made and more beautifully written. I got it at a time in my life that I felt spiritually dry. It has helped so much! It makes you realize that you have a loving Heavenly Father. Not One who is just waiting to punish you. It is like love letters from God. I thank God for such a blessing!

The Art of Miyazaki's Spirited Away

Artbook from Wonderland
After watching "Spirited Away", I bought the art book companion as an impulse buy. However, now that I think about it, I find myself constantly turning through its pages, even more so than I watch the movie. Hayao Miyazaki created a masterpiece in "Spirited Away", set in a wonderland-esque realm - a Japanese Bath House for the gods and spirits of Japanese mythology. This guide takes its reader through the Miyazaki's creation with great artistic detail and intriguing notations and comments.

For those who have fallen in love with "Spirited Away", as I have, this book offers insight to the multi-layered plots and characters of the film. Readers are graced with early archetural diagrams and sketches of the film's settings, along with galleries of the breath-taking final products. Also, we are offered conceptual drawlings of the cast of characters, from the early images of Yubaba and her gigantic baby to some of the minor characters and apparitions: the No Face, the bouncing heads, Haku and the silver dragon, etc.
The art and designs are a treat for both young and old, whether you have seen the film or not. As an added bonus, the collection also offers the American screenplay dialogues and detailed descriptions of the Spirit World.

This is a must have for fans of the movie, fans of anime or fans of mythology and Asian folklore. Miyazaki's true gift is creating limitless images that spark the imagination. His work in this book rivals the original fantasies and concepts within Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass". There is nothing disappointing about it.

SIMPLY ASTOUNDING!!!
I am speechless, I really am. I've never felt more compelled to write a review until now. This book is, in two words, ESSENTIALLY HOT!!! I am not gonna blabber much about this book since what I would say has been mentioned by previous reviews and they are soooooo true!!! The print and colour qualities are superb. I've fallen in love with this book right from the start. I don't understand why I couldn't rate it higher than five stars because that is what this book truely deserves...... A MILLION STARS! I feel that the world is really fortunate to have unparallelled artists such as Mr. Hayao Miyazaki. I am such great fan of his.

Amazing...
I love Miyazaki's original sketches for things. They are always have such a sweet and mysterious sense at the same time. And they are in such good detail. His archetectual drawings are always my favorite. In nice hardcover.

Life Lessons
"A Breath Away" is quite simply a poignant family saga that should serve as a wake up call to all "ordinary families" who go through life with their heads in the sand thinking that nothing terrible can happen to their family.

Terrible things can happen to even wonderful families from all walks of life. There is nothing that can tear a family apart and lead it into directions that were never thought imaginable more than a child with a drug problem. Some families fall apart other families are brought closer together and can come through the darkness stronger than before.

That is just one of the lessons taught by this gripping, life lesson by Van Sher. I cannot comprehend that one family had to go through so much in such a short time. A sequel telling the continuing story of the grandson will be welcomed in a few years. A movie about "the first chapter" would be a great movie for the time. I for one cannot wait.

A page turner
One of the books that "catch" you within the first few pages. I found myself peeking ahead to determine how each episode played out. The undertone of humor shoulders the unbelievable pain, risk and challenge Ed and Cindy confronted. We never want to believe addiction is in our own backyard. No barriers exist. Addiction doesn't discriminate. The commitment of the parents is surreal. Each page tugs and pulls at you. You never know where you are going. I TRULY believe a sequel is in order and a movie a must. It was a one-day read for me. Couldn't put it down !!!

A moving experience that could happen to any one of us.
I could not put this book down, because I needed to see how it ended. There is much pain, human challenge, dedication, unbelievable risk, and even humor. The ultimate result leaves the reader wanting to know more. Personally, I would like to see a sequel to find out how this all comes together as this young child develops. The fact that it is based on truth is amazing, because the events themselves read like fiction. This is one determined, incredibly resourceful family unit. Bring hankies!

Detail and Depth
Ms. Richmond's attention to detail makes me feel I know these women personally. She shows such depth of understanding that I wonder if these characters are based on people she knows. I look forward to her next book and believe that she will have great success in her career.

Ms. Richmond's work offers an antidote to modern rubbish!
This collection is a wonderful antidote to the mundane and thoroughly unimaginative work that plagues modern fiction. Ms. Richmond rises above the rest with her unique blend of characterization and skillful narrative, making her the first new writer worth your time since Alice Walker came upon the scene. Thanks to the publishers for getting this work to us.

COMPLEXING, COMPELLING READ
Short stories woven with the common thread of relationships, this book boasts a new delivery. A neoteric realm which captures it's reader spellbound. Eccentric tales loop, twisting into an explainable reality. Thoughtful, humorous, morose, challenging, this read never lets go. The threads of it's beginning pattern complect a tapestry by end. I was mesmerized by each tale; completely given over to the surreal quality that melded into perfect rhyme. It is not an easy read, but is life an easy road? Isn't the trip the joy? It is in this transmigration of spirit and pulp.

A beautiful work of art; that books could be displayed in museums, this would hang in reverence.

This is a read. This is a masterpiece of prose. This should be your next choice.

Excellent
I admit I have come late to discovering the Canham books, but since I now have all but the first three that are out of print and impossible to find, the pleasure of reading most of them within a four month period has been wonderful. She fills each book with adventure, non-stop excitment, and characters you feel you could bump into coming out of the house next door.

Aunt Florence, from Swept Away is priceless. I could see her waving her cane around and wacking everyone on the shin if they weren't paying attention. Anna is no doorstop either, and has some genuinely heartfelt lines, like when she tells Emory she liked him better when he had no memory.

Emory just makes me sigh. I kept looking back at the artwork and nodding my head. It was him. I only wish it had been me walking on that beach.

Another success for Canham
Once again, Marsha Canham has written another wonderful book. She takes famous real life people and builds her hero and heroine around the happenings of that time. Her attention to detail makes you actually see what she is describing. Most authors cannot jump from Medieval Times (The Shadow of Midnight), to the second Jacobite rising (The Pride of Lions), to Napoleon Bonaparte. (Swept Away) and still write with credibility. Here is one author who can. I am very selective in my reading and keep going back to my favorites because once you read authors like Marsha Canham, Loretta Chase, Karen Robards, and Diana Gabaldon it's hard to find new authors who are up to their writing abilities. In Swept Away, Emory and Annaleah each have obstacles they need to work their way through. Emory, his memmory loss and Annaleah, control over her future. I really liked Annaleah's Aunt Florence too; such plain-speaking you usually don't find. Good storyline, great adventure, and, as always, steamy love scenes. Add this to your list of keepers.

GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!....
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!.GREAT!..GRE.E..AH..Give me another line and I'll keep repeating the same word until it convince you enough to prove my word by reading this book. What make this book that great??..Well...this book has everything- romance, mystery, adventure, action, suspense, humour, plus a lot of great characters. What do you want to know more???..Plot summary???...NO..You don't have to know ANYTHING about the plot. Just start reading it and see if you can put it down!! And you wonder why people gave this book ONLY 5 stars???, ..because that all they could give, of course.

... and by topping it with SWEPT AWAY put her on top of the list of my fevorite authors.

TO PROMOTE GIRLS' SELF ESTEEM & GOOD MORALS & VALUES
I have not read all of this book...but am going to buy this for my six yr old and three yr old daughters for when they are preteens. That is how impressed I am with this book. It talks about how GIRLS ARE SPECIAL...and different things like that on each page...I believe this book the girl can record her thoughts too...I believe this to be a very beneficial and positive book.///That is MUCH needed and appreciated for the young preteen and teen girl population. Thank you. Sincerely, Amy M of California Shastax2@aol.com

Empowering Our Young Women
The book is focused on young women, however, more mature ones will also find it beneficial. The title is excellent, because the book is concerned about self and what one should keep. It is written in a workbook format that can be read in a short period of time. However, the thought provoking questions and exercises, take some time and allows one to view her life as is and how she would like it to be. The self-affirmations are excellent, because many people do not know what or how to say them. The survival kits provide good practical ideas of what a person should do if she is going through a bad time or has negative feelings. The inserted graphics, developed for the young person, with or without text are colorful and interesting . Vanzant also makes several interesting points about the role the Creator should play in a young woman's life. I feel that the book is valuable for any woman. I read it and then passed on to my God Child who is fifteen!

Inspirational
Iyanla is a very influential and inspirational author. She would be a top five person to talk to in my lifetime. I reccommend everything she has to write or say.

And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon

Lots of people know the nursery rhyme, "Hey Diddle Diddle," but has anyone ever thought about what happens each night after it's read? The dish runs away with the spoon, and, presumably, they come back later, otherwise the rhyme couldn't go on without them. But one night, when the dish and spoon take off, they simply don't return! The fiddle-playing cat, laughing dog (who turns out to be quite a grump when he's not playing his part), and the sleepy, moon-hopping cow set out to search for their missing friends. Along the way they encounter Little Boy Blue, the spider from "Little Miss Muffet," Humpty Dumpty's repairman, and a big bad wolf. But will they catch up with the dish and the spoon before the next reading? And can all of them dodge the dangers of an after-hours, fairy-tale world?

Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel pick up where the nursery rhyme leaves off in this witty, entertaining romp. Young readers will "laugh to see such sport," as characters from fairy tales and Mother Goose mingle, make puns, and occasionally join forces to find the wandering tableware. The hilarious facial expressions and lively scenes by Janet Stevens invite readers to stay a while on each page. Stevens is the author and illustrator of the Caldecott Honor Book Tops and Bottoms. She and her sister-collaborator have previously teamed up on Cook-a-Doodle-Doo!, Shoe Town, and Tumbleweed Stew. (Ages 5 to 8) --Emilie Coulter

Loved This Book!!!
My 5 year old son brought this book home from the school library. We read it that night and I couldn't put it down. What a fresh, new way to look at some very well read nursery rhymes! The illustrations were colorful and creative. Also, the way they intertwined the nursery tales allowed me to pull out even more stories to read to my son. It was engaging for him and entertaining for me. I have already given this as a gift to friends. Thank you, Janet and Susan, for creating such a wonderful place for my son's imagination to wander.

Can we read the Dish & Spoon book again Mommy?
My 4 1/2 year old daughter absolutely loves this book. We originally borrowed it from the library, but she was heartbroken when it had to be returned. Although we've read it at least a dozen times, the story, familiar nursery rhymes and whimsical, beautiful pictures continue to grasp her interest. Parents will also enjoy this book, since it is written in a manner for both adults and children. I especially like the point where the characters traveling down the path come to a fork in the road, and it is actually a "fork" in the road, which will help them look for "spoon". I am always delighted when my daughter, Kelly, chooses this book for her bedtime selection.

Awesome.
The school that I teach at is performing this play tonight. It has come along great and going to be very cute live and in person. Very good book!

far away
The farthest-away mountain is an excellent story of a fantasy story that could really happen to someone if they really tried like Dakin (the main character). She is going to try to climb the farthest away mountain which no women or man has ever climbed. She starts to climb and she meets a couple of new friends. she has help on the mountain along the way but not any help her parents. she had lots of help from a frog and three gargoyles, zog, og and vog. she also has a little troll that lives at her house and helps her all the way until he freezes again. If you want to find out what else happens to Dakin then read the book. (Its a really good book.)

ONCE WHEN I WAS YOUNG...
I CANNOT BELIEVE I FOUND THIS BOOK AGAIN. I READ IT WHEN I WAS EIGHT OR NINE AND LOST IT! IT WAS AND STILL IS MY FAVORITE BOOK FROM MY CHILDHOOD. WHEN I FOUND IT AGAIN AT AMAZON I ALMOST STARTED TO CRY. THIS BOOK IS WELL WRITTEN WITH A POWERFULL MAIN CHARACTER WHO INSPIRES YOUNG GIRLS TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES AND THAT THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. NINE YEARS LATER I STILL THINK ABOUT THIS BOOK AND THE WAY IT STILL HELPS ME, THAT IS WHY I WISHED I WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND IT AGAIN. IF YOU WANT TO HELP YOUE DAUGHTER AND INSPIRE HER LIFE, YOU SHOULD PURCHASE THIS BOOK. I OWE A LOT TO IT. IT TRULY HELPED MOLD MY PERSONALITY AND WAS ENJOYABLE TO READ. I HOPE IF YOU DO BUY IT YOU WILL SHARE WITH YOUR DAUGHTER HOW IT HAS CHANGED ONE GIRL'S LIFE. ALLOW YOURSELF TO INSPIRE, UPLIFT, AND ENTERTAIN YOUR CHILD, BUY "THE FARTHEST AWAY MOUTAIN."

A part of my childhood
This book is the only book my mother ever read to my brothers and I out loud, not including picture books. I remember listening to her read it and loving the story. It's one of the few things I remember clearly about when i was very young.
Over time I forgot the title and author, and all I remembered was the story. (In fact, I went to look it up on Amazon only knowing that the title included the word "mountain".) This book is great for young readers, and it was my first serious introduction to fantasy, which I really love now. It led the way first to Ella Enchanted and then to Lord of the Rings, The Fionavar Tapestry, and more great books.

Going Away Party

Author: Laura Pedersen

Wonderful Read, Laugh-Out-Loud Funny
This is definitely a riotous "Lost In Translation," though I see from the date that this book came first. And there's no Tokyo, just the good old American midwest. But it's a wonderful tale about two peple meeting in (very) unusual circumstances and searching for meaning in their lives. All the Catholic girl guilt resonated deeply -- dating on Saturday night and then going to church on Sunday morning. And also the boys in the family always being allowed more freedom. I had no idea how Pedersen was going to wind this one up but she managed to do so nicely, complete with suprises and laughter. Every mother will want her daughter to read this book in order to demonstrate that we're not as bad as you think!

Fast and funny from TV show host
Was suprised that this is the same Laura Pedersen who hosts "Your Money and Your Life" on Oxygen. She is funny on the show but I thought she only wrote about personal finance for The New York Times and this is like a stand-up comedy book. I enjoyed it and think it would make a funny movie. My husband kept hearing me laugh out loud and wanted to know what was so funny and I had to read him parts and finally I said just read it yourself when I'm done.

Original, thoughtful, engaging
Dove into this after enjoying Pedersen's wonderfully heartbreaking but humorous novel "Last Call." Now we move from Brooklyn, NY, to the Midwest. Anyone who has ever been a teenager or attempted to raise one will love "Going Away Party," which sums up so many of the conflicts inherent in coming of age today. Technology and the high cost of education have changed the landscape and not always for the better. It also contains a romance with an age difference that serves to show how our perspective on life changes as we mature. What I especially enjoyed was that drugs, abuse, and violence were not needed to make the passage to adulthood dramatic and fraught. It's angst filled enough without those and Pedersen also uses deft humor to keep things moving toward a surprising and touching ending.

Awesome Love Story!
If you have ever been impacted by family secrets during your adulthood, then this is a book you will enjoy reading. This was such an interesting book done so well by this author, giving you nothing but a memorable story about Veronica Overton and Schyler Henderson. The book offers the reader both major and minor stories that binding them together makes such an enjoyable book to read. When you get to the last page you should be in a position to say it was well worth the read. Gwynne Forster mostly deals with issues that may for the most part be experienced by a more mature audience but even if you're younger there are some valuable life lessons to be found in all of her books. If you enjoy this one and have not read some of her other published books check these out: Beyond Desire, Fools Rush In, Obsession, Naked Soul, Against The Wind, Against All Odds, Ecstasy and Sealed With A Kiss.

Another sensational read by Gwen.
Swept Away was awesome. Veronica and Schyler were meant to be with each other before they even met. They were joined together by deceit and lies and through their search for truth, they swept away the debris of their lives and had an everlasting love. This is a can't put down romance which I exspect from Mrs. Forester.
