A well done work on a recurring theme in the Bible that is approached from the standpoint of someone who actually believes the Book! Get this one if you don't know the Angel of the Lord! If you do know him get it and know more about Him.

Though not written as a novel, this autobiography is not a book one can put down easily. It is written in sections so one can read what interests them without having to read the whole book.
It touches on the highlights of the life of the author and her many varied experiences; exciting overeas adventures of a military wife who uncovered corruption in high places; her life-long search for the two mystery men of her life, her real father and a man whose only witness of his innocence of a serious crime was never found; spiritual healings, protection by Angels, UFO sightings and 4th encounter experiences beginning in early childhood, and more. The samples of her published poetry, in the back of the book, are beautiful. I would highly recommend this book.

I have well over 200 cookbooks and am always happy to find a special one to add to my collection. This is a WINNER! I just got it and have already tried several and they were all excellent. This is a cookbook that is easy to read, has 208 recipes and is also the kind to give as a gift because of it's beautiful cover. Anyone who loves to stay at B & B's will find the recipes delicious and unique and will definitely want to go to Cape May, NJ and stay at the Angel of The Sea. You'll definitely want to try the Dutch Apple French Toast, Peach Crisp, Coffee Muffins, Angel Lemon Squares, Rocky Road Squares, White Chocolate Almond Cheesecake, and the Hot Chipped Beef Spread. I truly can't say enough about this excellent cookbook. You will reach for this one time and time again as I know I will.

Jamila Pegues, young, black, gifted - but so much more

If this story was only about a great way to sit under a tree in the summer and take a trip to another place, it would be well worth the purchase. Jamila Pegues weaves a tale that has layers and shadows, lightness and darkness, and tension that builds throughout the story. The sweet heroine suffers her trials with stone-faced determination. And she finds out that there is more to her family and to life than at first glance. As she navigates between Dragon world and her own small town, the reader is compelled to keep turning the pages as the heroine leaves "no stone unturned in this book of Stoney Revelation."

And here is the inspirational part... Pegues wrote it at just 12 years old. She writes a novel for kids, by a kid, but with all the mastery in storytelling of a well-seasoned author much older. It brings a layer of perception that rings true throughout the novel, and really taps in to young adolescent and tweener psyche in a very sophisticated but easy to relate to style.

Alienated... gifted... a seeker... and misunderstanding... these areas Pegues develops in both the dark characters and the heroine. All this is linked together by a secret that unfolds and envelopes the reader bit by bit as the tension builds and the final conflict crashes on the pages, with the world hanging in the balance.

I really feel Jamila Pegues is one of the first writers of the Obama generation. A talented African-American girl, she brings insights from her culture and experiences to bear that are not exclusionary, but will appeal to readers well beyond her own race, well beyond her own age, and well beyond her gender. And the message of bridging differences, embracing destiny, and being willing to sacrifice for others will be a necessary mission for this next great generation.

I encourage adults to read this with their children and use it to discuss themes. But maybe the most important thing is to have this on the bookshelf the next time your son or daughter says 'I can't!' We all know they can... and Jamila Pegues is just another great example for kids to be inspired by.

Happy reading under the Elm Tree...

Having recently lost a loved one, I thought it would be hard to read about a husband whose dead wife keeps "visiting" him, but she's so gentle and loving and apparently not heartbroken about dying that her visits are actually very comforting. Once I started reading, I found it impossible to stop! This book drew me in immediately, took me outside myself and my grief, and keeps me involved and interested.

The story of J.T., Kelly, Jeff and Nancy is so engrossing and the characters so real, the reader gets the feeling that they're just ordinary people they might meet in their own everyday life - people they see everyday but don't notice the pain, fear, and drama that's just beneath the surface. This book is well written, insightful, and compassionate, and when I came to the last few chapters, I was only sad that my great read was coming to an end.

I want to read anything else that Elizabeth Owen has written, and I'm certain that after reading "Angel of Trevi" so will others.

Rosanna Filippello has done it again! (Not a very original opening line, but you can't fight the truth!)

This author is great at crime stories, but why not? She's a police officer with lots of experience under her "gun-belt." And then there's romance ... Ah-hhh, romance!

I read the first two books in this series and they were exciting reads that kept me guessing to the very end. ANGEL OF TRUTH was no exception. Go, Rosanna!

A small-town radio DJ gets a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interview her pop music idol. What could go wrong?
Ladies: if you have ever wondered what it would be like to meet your handsome pop idol, or if you grew up with a nagging, impossible-to-please mother, or if you have questioned your elusive boyfriend's fidelity, you would definitely relate to the protagonist. And the running commentary inside her head is hilarious.
Gentlemen: while you, most likely, aren't the target audience of this book, this story would make a fun read for a woman in your life.

"Angel on Duty" is fun to read and has a great short plot. The characters are real and believable. The details are so well written, you can almost smell the Mexican restaurant. Enjoy!
