This is fifth book in the Stephanie Plum series and in this one, everyone's favourite bounty hunter is taking care of some family problems. Uncle Fred is missing and Stephanie's family enlists her for help. She is reluctant at first, but eventually gives in.

But a girl needs some money. And since the only FTA (failure to appear for a court date) is Randy Briggs, who is she is having a little bit of trouble obtaining. Stephanie ends up doing some work for her mentor Ranger. This involves taking care of some unwanted tenants, to driving a horny 15 year old to and from the airport.

In the course of the book; Stephanie will have her car blown up, a wedding to attend too, and more people will end up dead, all of them linked with the disappearance of Uncle Fred.

This is my first time anything by Janet Evanovich, but I don't think this will be my last. High Five was a fun novel with a great set of characters. Evanovich did a great job developing and giving life to her character, even the minor ones. Which is good, but I found that sometimes the minor characters out shined Stephanie. She's a good character, but there were times where I wanted to hear more from the others instead of her.

The only time where I felt that reading the previous novels would have helped, is in regards to the love triangle. I like the character of Ranger, he was mysterious and hot, but he just gave cars to Stephanie and most of the time she was thinking about Joe Morelli. So it didn't really seem like a proper love triangle, especially since most of the time, it seemed like Stephanie only wanted Ranger when she thought Joe was cheating on her.

One of the highlights, but also one of the disappointments was when Benito Ramirez was brought back. I have no idea which book he was in, all I know is that he's a crazy mofo who is scary.

When he showed up, it made me want to read the previous novels and find out why he is so scary. The book mentioned what he did to Lulu and a little bit of what he did, but not a lot to really make me know why he's so scary.

Stephanie does ends up having more encounters with him, which is a great way to bring an element of fear. My only disappointment was the way things ended with him, it made his purpose in the novel almost redundant. If he wasn't in the novel, I don't think the plot would have been affected at all. He made me want to read the other novels, but at the end of the day what exactly was his purpose in the book?

Overall, this was a fun, light novel and I now know why Evanovich is such a success. While I did have some problems, I did enjoy this novel very much. Make sure you check it out.

3.5/5

To date, I think this was my favorite book in this series. All the characters were there in all their feistiness. Even Grandma Bella and her Evil Eye.

Once again Stephanie is out of money and will take any FTA, this one turns out to be a very stubborn "littler person" who in turn decides to move into Stephanie's apartment, which wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't already distracted by her overly cheap Uncle Fred who went MIA while trying to right a $2.00 wrong at the trash company.

Things start to heat up when she starts spending a little too much time with Ranger and now is having the Ranger/Morelli conflict. Some girls have all the luck. Now to find Fred, who's wife really doesn't mind that he's missing, keep out of the way of a psycho boxer, get a dwarf (after calling Stephanie a loser, the gets called names too), choose between Ranger and Morelli, keep a taser away from grandma, chauffer a child sheik, dodge a killer, and stop getting cars destroyed all seem to be a week in the life of Stephanie.

Great fast paced book with lots of storylines and great giggles. I highly recommend this one.

Is There Anything Funnier than Stephanie Plum?

Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter. Ummm...a Bail Enforcement Agent. And she works for her cousin Vinnie bringing in people that skip out on bail. Trouble is, business is a little slow and the rent is due. Enter Ranger, the Superman of Bounty Hunters. He handles all the really big, dangerous criminals and when he's not out catching bad guys, he's doing other odd jobs, mostly legal and sometimes moral. He lets Steph join the group, which includes guys with names like Tank. The jobs range from "interior decorating" (security) to chauferring a shiek. And Ranger even gives her a snazzy Porsche to use as a "company" car.

Then Steph's Uncle Fred disappears and her family wants her to look into the case. But when she starts digging into Fred's things, she finds pictures of a dead body....or at least the body parts. And what does all this have to do with the problems Fred has had with the garbage company....the errand he was running when he suddenly went missing??

What can I say?? I need to read something light and funny. And High Five was certainly all that. There is just no getting around laughing at the things Stephanie gets herself mixed up in. With a cast of characters that grows longer with each book, Evanovich weaves a good mystery with lots of fun. And sexual tension. The ever-present debate over who Stephanie should end up with is big talk among Plum fans. Should it be Morelli, the sexy cop with the smoldering looks that Stephanie has know all her life? Or should it be Ranger, the dark, dangerous bounty hunter that is gorgeous and built for speed?? For the first four books, I've been solidly in the Morelli camp. But Book 5, stepped up Ranger's interest....and I have to say I may be wavering a little!!

If you are looking for some fun, light reading, this is definitely the series for you. Now that I've finished High Five, I may have Plum Fever again. I definitely can't wait to see what trouble Stephanie can get into next!!

I don't know if it's normal, but I'm guessing everyone goes through stages of withdrawal after a good read. In one of those lull periods, I picked up a friend's copy of The Other Side of the Story. It is so wholeheartedly satisfying that I've just finished a 5 hour straight read to get to the end, leaving all the kid's toys, Christmas suitcases, dinner carnage and husband in my wake!

Going to buy another Marian Keyes first thing tomorrow morning :-)

A Wonderful Story about the World of Writing Stories!

This novel centered on to the lives of three women. Emma, an events planner that finds out that her father has left her mother and taken up with his personal assistant. Lily, a former friend of Emma's, who's a new writer with a book published but has sullied her friendship with Emma by falling in love with and making Emma's former boyfriend, Anton, her own and Jo-Jo, a literary critic who signed Lily to her book deal and is having an affair with her married boss.

This was my first Keyes novel since reading her four "Walsh sisters" series and it was strange at first to hear her "voice" speaking on something other than those memorable characters, but before long, I was drawn into these characters. This was a well-told story full of details and it touched on many human frailties and I enjoyed hearing about each character's perspective.

I really enjoyed the way that Keyes made each story relate to the other ones in such a clever way. She unites them but at the same time kept their individual stories fresh and reading the book from three different perspectives was fun, as you were constantly fed more of each story and wondering what would happen next.

This is a long novel, but it wasn't cumbersome - you can really appreciate the way that Keyes gives it all to each character and does a fantastic job of relating their stories. She also keeps you guessing as to the final outcome of each character and that spurs you on to read and want even more. This was a satisfying read and has made me an even bigger fan of Marian Keyes.

Four stars for a great read but no stars for the line on page 562...."Like taking flying lessons from Osama Bin Laden"

I love this book but I must pass some disappointment at this bad attempt at a joke. No matter how much time passes or on what continent you live, this is never funny. There will never be a time or a place to make jokes about 9/11.

I've read most of Marian Keyes' books, and while I've enjoyed most of them, this one stands out as one of my favorites.

The interconnected story of three thirty-something women in Great Britain as they search for love, fulfillment, and successful careers, was spot-on in so many aspects. Yes, there were enough happy endings to go around, and yes, this could be called "chick lit," but it was far from cookie-cutter. Jojo, Lily and Gemma were all sympathetic characters in their own way, and I found myself rooting for all of them, even as their successes seemed to be mutually exclusive.

Lots of laughs and clever writing, "The Other Side of the Story" will keep you up at night as you read page after page, just to see how it all turns out.

This is my first time reading an E. Lynn Harris book, and I was impressed by his style. With "Not A Day Goes By", he kept his chatpers short, he did not drag the story along, and he began his book with the ending of the story, something that is becoming increasingly popular with novelists of today.

Basil and Yancey are engaged to be married. In the beginning, they are very much in love with each other. Basil is clearly more in love. Yancey is so selfish, that she couldn't have loved Basil the way he loved her anyway. He is a former football player who started his own sports agency and she is an actress. As the story progress, we come to find that Basil is bisexual and struggling with his sexuality. In this book, we meet Yancey's mother, and upon reading about her mother, we see where she gets her selfishness and conceit from. When Yancey and her mother find out that Basil is bisexual, they do some awfully conniving things to him. Read this book to see if Yancey and Basil finally work things out.

I didn't give this book 5 stars because the ending seemed a bit rushed and corny. The sole reason I read a book is to see how it ends, so that was really a disappointment. Other than that, it was enjoyable.

Shows both sides to being a member of a MC in that the brother hood is awsome but it also shows you the illegal side of things and how evil the people in the Club can be.

I was on a plane and the guy next to me saw my Kindle and asked me about it. We then began to talk about books and he recommended this one to me. WOW! Who knew? I swear, I never knew how criminal they really were. I even grew up a in Daytona Beach, FL and thought this Motorcyle Gang stuff was just made up. "Gangs are for young thugs with bad parents and no jobs."

I was not part of this culture, but it was all around me. Bikers were always nice, very willing to help out. Even the ones with the patched up vests and the half naked women at The Iron Horse on US 1. So yeah... they got a little drunk, could be a little rowdy, but overall were seemingly good guys that were interesting to look at and looked REALLY scary.

We would hear about the Outlaws down there, as well as the Mongols and Hell's Angels - not to mess with them. But, what does that really mean? These guys are in their 40s, too old for trouble. Now I know. It means business. Now those are the 1%ers - The rest are just guys and girls with enough money to get a bike.

Mr. Queen did such a great job taking the reader through the terrible things that most people don't know or see as well as the sweet emotional sides of these guys that are looking for family. It felt like I was right there, a witness to his experiences. Sometimes, harrowing, sometimes sad, sometimes sweet.

I won't spoil anything, but I can only imagine how angry his ex-wife must have been.

This is defintiely a great read - even if you've never seen a biker.

A good book with easy but basic information contained within its pages. The book is great for people that are new to the industry but professionals might find id incomplete, and it even won't satisfy most newcomers. An overall good book by structure, content and presentation but there is another more in depth title that shines above this one. "101 Music Business Contracts - Updated Edition - Preprinted Binder / CD-ROM set containing over 100 contracts and agreements for recording artist, musicians, ... industry. Entertainment law at it's best!" by Ty Cohen is far better and features more valuable information structured in such a way that it makes it very easy for all.

Sorry Misters Hooper & Kennedy, but while the title of this book seems indeed quite alluring, you can hardly make 100K by following the vague and obvious advice given in this thin and outdated volume. I've been a struggling musician for about ten years and there's not alot here I wouldn't have figured out from my own common sense.

For a real, updated look at the business, I suggest you check out Bobby Borg's Musician's Handbook, or Justin Goldberg's The Ultimate Survival Guide to the NEW music Industry - Handbook for Hell - which is the best step by step program available ANYWHERE in the world independent music business stratgies. From what other musician's tell me, this book is just a lure into the world of a music marketing company that continually seeks more $ out of a very dry source -the unsigned, independent musician.

I heard the author briefly interviewed on the radio when the book came out and thought he had an amazing story. When I got the book and started reading I soon realized it was only a story and he was a very bad fraud. Nearly all the claims were incredible and virtually every one seemed concocted to cover the author in cheap comic-book glory. I imagine it's easy enough to find out if he's fluent in Korean, but beyond that I don't believe one other claim he's made for himself. And now he's "Doctor" Bannon? Let me see the transcripts, otherwise I'd bet that's bull too. I'd believe the Gong Show guy was a CIA hitman before I'd believe this clown.

This book is an unfortunate lie that uses child abuse as a sales technique

Review Date: 2006-02-21
David Wayne Dilley, who now goes by David Race Bannon, has callously used the genuine issue of child sex trafficking to make himself some cash, both in the form of this book and in speaking engagements. He has recently been arrested for criminal impersonation, as reported here: http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pr/2006/January/06_usncb_049.html

Interpol is an information-sharing service for worldwide law enforcement that does, indeed, help fight child sex rings. It is unfortunate that so many people have been duped by Dilley into believing that Interpol has some assassination wing that violates member-nation laws and goes around killing child pornographers. While it may be viscerally satisfying to imagine that this easy solution exists, it's untrue.

Dilley's story is fantasy from the very first murder, which happens in the fictional tenth story of the (in reality) five-story Byron Hotel in London. The fact that he has mislead so many people into giving him money by abusing the issue of child pornography is just sad.

I recommend strongly against purchasing this book. Better, perhaps, to donate money to one of the many charities that help fight the problem this book pretends to address.

This entire book, which is supposedly "non-fiction" is a fabrication by David Wayne Dilley.

Before reading this book, one should read the following investigation, http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=30325 , which outlines in great details the claims made by mister "Bannon". The article shows, with the exhaustive investigation and research of more than a dozen individuals, how all the claims made by mister Bannon are completely false and were merely created in order to write this book. Interpol has denied having any record of him working for them, and he has recently been indicted in Colorado for theft in relation to this book and seminars that he has taught concerning child pornography in Law Enforcement.

The article is free to the public and the author does not have any monetary connection to the book or the investigation.

This book is so badly written it is unbelievable that it was even published. I would expect more from a high school creative writing class. Corny beyond pale. This is listed as non fiction but I don't believe much of this book is anything but fiction. There are statements that I know for a fact are completely false and inaccurate. For expample the author states that child prostitution is legal in certain countries like Thailand, and there are brothels openly specializing in children. This is complete bull. "Regular" prostitution by adult men and women is not even legal in Thailand. No the police don't enforce the prostitution law in Thailand for the sake of tourism, but they DO strictly enforce child prostitution laws. This book besmudges the reputation of Thailand and the Thai people with such drivel. This is also true for other asian countries as well and is bore out by the recently reported case about the washed up British rock star (I forget his name) that was arrested in Vietnam for engaging in sex with underage girls, after being thrown out of Cambodia for the same thing. This book is written by a nerd dreaming of being James Bond. Don't waste your money. I got the book after some moron on here recommended it in a reveiw they were wrote on another book. Save your money and buy comic books instead.

Annabelle Granger inherited her grandmother's matchmaking service and is determined to be a success in the business world. Sports agent Heath Champion is her first high profile client but she's in competition with another agency to find him a wife, and to complicate matters she becomes jealous of the women she is setting him up with.

This is a light-hearted story with light-hearted romance between several endearing characters. There are enough twists and enough panache to make this a fun literary escape. I wasn't one of those that enjoyed Natural Born Charmer, also by author Susanne Elizabeth Phillips, so I was surprised when I had a few laughs and enjoyed this audiobook as much as I did.

I listened to this book on audio and it ROCKED! The reader is Anna Fields (Real Name Kate Fleming) and has since passed away. I have not heard a better reader of audiobooks. She brings books to life and has the ability to bring a 3 book to a 5.

That wasn't the case with Match Me if you Can. This book was incredible. Heath and Anabellle first start off all business, then friends, then to much more. It's a cute, fun story and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's on the AAR top 100's list and it deserves to be there. Although it's part of the Chicago Star's series, I don't believe you need to read them in order, I haven't and I didn't feel lost at all. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. It's also the second book by SEP I've read, the first one being This Heart of Mine which is a book from the same "series" oddly enough.

I loved the chemistry between Annabelle and Heath and the story of Bodie and Portia. I especially liked the relationship between Annabelle and Heath's clients. It was a great story, so much more than a typical romance.

All of the characters felt fully developed and like they had a point to the over all story. Sometimes, extra characters feel thrown in to make the story longer. This was totally not the case.

The dialogue was sharp, witty and realistic. Everyone had a happy ending and it was just great. I can't wait to read Natural Born Charmer.

Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a dangerous woman. I learned that way back in 1989 when I stumbled across her novel FANCY PANTS. In that richly textured, mainstream glitter and glitz women's fiction novel that still managed to be one of the most extraordinary romances I'd ever read, she first did the impossible. She made golf interesting. That's right. Her hero, Dallie Beaudine was the sexiest golfer to ever pull on (or off) a pair of...well...golf pants.

Since then, I've been forced to govern my SEP reading with a very strict set of rules. Because she's on a very short list of writers who can make me care more about what I'm reading than about what I'm writing, I'm only allowed to read her books on vacation, on long car or plane trips, or when I've just finished writing one of my own books.

Fortunately for me, a car trip to Florida coincided with the release of her brand spanking new Chicago Stars book, MATCH ME IF YOU CAN. Not since I first read ROOTS in the car when I was 13 have I enjoyed a road trip so much! From the very first page, SEP evokes empathy for her characters. We first meet modern day matchmaker Annabelle Granger trying to lure a drunk man out from under the wheels of her car because she's late for a very special appointment with high-profile sports agent Heath Champion, aka The Python. How can you not fall in love with a woman who smears lipstick on her lovely yellow shirt when she's trying to sniff her armpits for B.O. while driving? That's the beauty of SEP's female characters. They're not just the friends we'd long to have. They're already us!

She also excels in choosing the right details. The very fact that the heroine owns a Hello Kitty cookie jar tells you everything you need to know about her. As a writer, I found myself utterly seduced by sentences like, "Her sister-in-law used perfume like bug repellant." And Heath Champion has to be one of the most luscious, three-dimensional contemporary heroes I've ever read. SEP knows men! She knows how they think and how they talk and she loves them anyway, which only makes us love them more.

I also love the fact that the characters from the previous Chicago Stars novels weren't just marched onstage for a "Very Special Appearance" but were actually used to further the plot and facilitate the romance between Annabelle and Heath. I loved seeing Phoebe and Dan from IT HAD TO BE YOU with a few more wrinkles and a couple of teenagers of their own.

Excellent presentation on the keys to succeeding in business. This is the best & most complete business primer in my library. I'm on my second read. The information is applicable to any business although it focuses on real estate.

I will always keep a copy & refer to it often.

Simply a great read

Great Overall Look at the Industry

Gary Keller's book is a great introduction to the industry. It is helpful, not only from an agent's perspecitve, but also from a consumer one as well. Real estate is certainly a complex subject and it is certainly important to understand the workings of the industry especially if you are an investor making many real estate transactions. For teh agent, it provides a proven real estate model in which to set up your business.
The book takes the overall view, looking not at too many specifics or specific situations, but more of the overall picture on how to create your business plan from day one.

Having a business mission to link the corporate employees, residents and schools in my area, through my publication, anything about the business of real estate interests me.

So, when Masoud Riazati, a San Diego Keller Williams Real Estate Broker, offered me a copy of this book, I gladly accepted his offer.

From the first page, all the way through, I related to this book, and have profitted, during my reading this book.

"The Millionaire Real Estate Agent," is a great follow up to "The Art of Selling to The Affluent" by Matt Oechsli, because they are both thorough, entertaining, fun, focused upon the reader embodying a millionate mind set, and they both are written in a style that makes you, the reader, feel as though the author is having a face-to-face with you, as questions and "light bulb moments," arise.

Also, having read "The Millionaire Next Door," Stanley, and "Think and Grow Rich," by Napoleon Hill, it's great that Gary Keller has taken the step-by-step approach to guiding readers to acquire the millionaire mind set.

Charts in Keller's book are also so easy to follow, and worth adapting into your office Operations Manual, as a guide to keep you on course, towards your $1,000,000 net income goal.

The only challenge that I had in reading this book was asking myself, "If real estate agents do listings to be successful, what does listings equate to, in my business? Am I already doing the equivalent? If so, how do I quantify this into expected revenues?"

Usually, I like to power read through non-fiction books, while I take copious notes. And I like to reread great non-fictions, until there is nothing left for me to gain from them. But, "The Millionaire Real Estate Agent," was different.

There is so much to learn from this book, about being in, and growing your busines, that I wanted to savor ever "ah ha" moment. And there were many of those moments for me, in this book. This is definitely a book that I will reread, again, because by creating the systems in this book, I will be ready to go to the next business level.

I recommend this book to anyone who is in, or plans to be in business. This is also great for those who are in leadership positions, working for someone else.

If you want to read a book on how to spend a million dollars, without making a single dime, this is the book for you. Keller spends a great deal of time showing you how to blow money, but he offers you NO program for earning money. If you are new to selling real estate, you need to learn how to prospect for new business, qualify customers and clients, present to them, close the sale, service the customer and close the transaction. This book does not tell you how to do any of that. Amazon has much better books available to you: Ray Smith's "Master Blueprint for Real Estate Sales" or Dave Stone's "Training Manual for Real Estate Salespeople", both out of print, but available, are way better choices for you!

I have read most of Harlan's other books, but this was my first Myron Bolitar one. I decided to start from the beginning. What a great series! I love Myron, Win, and their great humor. I am also a huge sports fan so the character of sports agent is great too.

I would say that Myron Bolitar books are just as good as Coben's other books, but they have a less somber/serious mood. Myron and Win keep it more fun, but the mysteries are just as great. I can't wait to read the rest of them!

This is the first in the series by Harlen Coben about sports agent Myron Bolitar.

The novels follow the happenings of professional sports agent who moonlights as a private detective. With the help of his friend "Win" who is an absolutely adorable sociopath (if there ever was such a thing) along with a cast of other characters that make each novel better than the last.

In this you will find entertaining and witty dialogue as well as valid sports references. For the sports fan that also loves a little bit of suspense this is a must have.

Again, it is the first in a series. I am book 4 and haven't found one yet that I didn't like.

I am a new fan and a huge fan!

I enjoy many genres but smart, dry humor is always wonderful; mix in a great plot and brilliant characters and I am hooked. The Myron Bolitar series is up there with that other NJ centered Stephanie Plum Series in my book of great "books"; they are different, sure but still enjoyable with a poignant depth to their characters and plot lines.

All the hallmarks of H.Coben are here: the plot is simply superb, the delivery is annoying but this time without extremes, the clowns are still bulletproof.

It Helped Me Buy My House

A guide to home buying in the classic "for Dummies" format. This book covers the basics and the not-so-basics of residential home buying and provides a step-by-step guide to purchasing your own house. Among other topics, the book provides valuable advise regarding how to get started, how to select an agent, how to shop for a mortgage and so forth. Better yet, it does so in an understandable, but not oversimplified manner. Starting from absolute scratch, I personally found the book invaluable in purchasing my first home. Home Buying for Dummies is certainly not the final word in real estate, but it provides sufficient and highly usable information for the first-time home buyer. Read it before you meet with a buyer's agent and you can't help but get off to a great start.

Full of interesting things about home buying. I wish that in some parts it would have gone more in depth. But in the end I felt like I learned a lot from this book.

I recently ordered several mortgage books as learning and reference tools as I embark on my new career as a loan officer. I have not read any of the books from cover to cover, but they are serving me well for the purpose intended. The book arrived in a timely manner and in the condition described.

If you've never bought a home before, buy this book. It gives you a good overview of many areas of the homebuying process. If the thought of purchasing your first home is a bit daunting, educate yourself. This doesn't give you every single detail that you need to know, but it will help you ask informed questions and lead you on your way.

it is a must read if you are a first time home buyer. I knew what to ask, what to expect. I am not money savvy, but the morgage section is simple enough that I feel that helped me getting the best deal possible.
