For the first time, the truth about who blew Pan Am 103 out of the sky over Lockerbie, Scotland, is revealed by the man who risks all to tell it: Dr. William Chasey, Foreign Agent 4221.

Dr. Chasey exposes the cruelest international cover-up in modern history, one that makes Watergate, Irangate and Whitewater pale by comparison.

Find out how and why the United States, Great Britian and Scotland have conspired to cover up the true identity of those responsible for the world's most heinous terrorist attack against innocent civilians. Read how the CIA, FBI and Treasury Department are trying to keep this story from being told.

This book is fact but reads like fiction, written by a real-life foreign agent, contracted to normalize relations between the Unites States and Libya. What he found out will shock the world!

Dr. Chasey tells about his secret meeting with two of the world's most wanted men. He introduces us to the two Libyan intelligence officers accused of blowing up Pan Am 103, killing 270 innocent civilians. He relates his meeting and discussion with Col. Muammar Qadhafi, the man Time Magazine called "the most dangerous man in the world."

Chasey discloses information which has been previously covered up by the West, information which tells who blew up Pan Am 103. He names the terrorists actually responsible for the Lockerbie bombing.

This book is packed with political intrigue, life and death situations, limos speeding through the Libyan desert, famous political figures, notorious terrorists, wire taps, and an FBI sting operation designed to destroy Chasey's reputation and life.

Now you will know why Dr. Chasey says, "I love my country, but I fear my government." In spite of that fear, he has written this book.

Dr. Hotez skillfully introduces readers to an array of "neglected tropical diseases" which devastate the world's poorest populations--2.7 billion of whom live on less than $2 per day. Some of the infections that afflict the poor, such as worms, schistosomiasis, or filariasis (elephantiasis) cause debilitating illnesses. While these diseases are less dramatic and attention fetching than malaria and HIV/AIDS, they have vast personal, social, and economic consequences. Moreover, because of their victims' poverty, these diseases are largely ignored. Dr. Hotez calls much needed attention to a dozen of these diseases.

Dr. Hotez' writing is valuable not only for its timely subject matter but also for its clarity and simplicity. It is a rare skill to be able to reach readers of vastly different levels yet Dr. Hotez effortlessly
explains these diseases as well as their impact in language and detail
appropriate for high-school to post-graduate readers. He also excels at helping readers to understand non-obvious links between poverty, parasitic infections, and HIV/AIDS. For example, Dr. Hotez' explanation of how schistosomiasis, a water-transmitted worm, increases a person's susceptibility to HIV infection and his explanation of how anemia from these and other worms can impair learning and subsequent income-earning ability will be appreciated by critical readers. In short, this book is an excellent primer, with numerous references for more detailed exploration.

Each chapter provides an overview of the organism, the illness it causes, and the social and economic impact of each of these illnesses. The accompanying photographs make a striking impression, and they, as well as the other helpful illustrations, have great visual impact.

I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Hotez and a number of his colleagues speak two years ago. One of the major conference themes, which was new to me although I am an infectious diseases physician, is that 7 major neglected tropical diseases could be eradicated for less than 50 cents per person/per year. Since learning that, I have incorporated some of this material about NTDs into my talks, and the slides for these are available at [...]

Ironically, Dr. Hotez' new book, "Forgotten People, Forgotten Diseases" was part of my Thanksgiving fare this year, and served as an excellent reminder of all we do have to be thankful for. This book is clearly written and inspirational, and is a call to action. What are we waiting for?

"The Fourth Career of John B. Bannon" is one of three biographies of a justifiably well studied life. Fr. Faherty's "Exile in Erin" the whole life biography, while Phillip Thomas Tucker's "The Confederacy's Fighting Chaplain" focuses on Bannon's second career as chaplain of the First Missouri Confederate Brigade and third career as Confederate Diplomat to the Holy See and agent in Ireland. (See my amazon.com review of each.) This volume covers Bannon's Fourth Career as preeminent Irish Jesuit Orator.

Fr. Faherty skillfully weaves strands of Bannon's first career, as a pastor in St. Louis, along with his second and third careers, into this story so as to permit it to be appreciated without having read the other books.

Choosing to Remain in his native Ireland after the Civil War, Bannon, heretofore a diocesan priest, joined the Society of Jesus in Dublin. There he devoted his fourth career to the preaching of parish missions throughout Ireland. Besides giving the reader an insight into a fascinating life, this book also provides a perspective of the "in the field" Church in Ireland from the 1860s until Bannon's death in 1913. The details of his travels and parish missions are of interest to anyone with knowledge of the geography and history of Ireland. The recitals of visits of friends from America also provides a few answers to the "What happened after the War?" questions which so often engage the minds of the thinking reader.

For an overview of Fr. Bannon's life, read "Exile in Erin." Then read "The Confederacy's Fighting Chaplain" and "The Fourth Career Of John B. Bannon" for the rest of the story.

A free-market fight against socialist tyranny

Brian Crozier asks a fascinating question. The covert 'war in the shadows' between freedom and slavery is generally presented as a clash between governments: during the Cold War, it was NATO and the West versus the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact; CIA versus KGB; MI6 versus GRU. But why? Why couldn't there also be a private-sector organization, a collection of free agents, doing what the Free World's governments couldn't or wouldn't do?

That forms the basis of this fascinating book, part history, part autobiography, about Crozier's efforts, and those of his allies, to undermine and destroy international socialism on a private-sector basis.

Crozier is a journalist and political scientist, but also an experience intelligence hand and long-time advisor to governments. Motivated in part by Western spy agencies' bureaucratic incompetence, their penetration by Soviet moles, and their governments' 'own goals' and shortsighted legislative restrictions, Crozier struck out on his own. This book is chock-full of stories of disinformation campaigns, subversive tricks, and spy-versus-spy maneuvers that rank, in my mind, with some of the best of Ludlum or Le Carré. Conservatives will also enjoy the eyewitness portraits of Reagan and Thatcher in action.

Very highly recommended to any student of espionage or the Cold War, or any fan of spy fiction.

I have read many (15+) advisory books on home buying, home selling and real estate investment. Almost all of those books fall short in one area: how to effectively deal with your real estate agent - the very person who can make or break your deal. Authors usually talk about location, pricing and rehab tips. Among the few authors who actually mention how to select a real estate agent, they devote no more than one page to the subject. The tips are usually too general and not very useful, like getting a top-producing agent, someone who has a billboard ad off the highway, etc. I followed all of these "tips" and was still disappointed with the performance and knowledge of many agents. Not to mention that some agents are down right unethical in their practice.

By contrast, Iversen devotes his entire book exposing how real estate agents really work and covers in great details the violations of the industry's ethical standards by agents. Iversen gives great tips on how to "manage" your real estate agent so that either your agent's performance lives up to your expectation or you know it is time to fire your agent before it is too late. Iversen is himself a seasoned real estate agent. So I consider his tips inside information.

This is a "must read" if you belong to any one of the following categories:

(1) First-time home buyer; (2) First-time home seller; (3) Experienced buyer/seller who hasn't had very good experience dealing with your previous agent(s); (4) Beginning real estate investor; (5) FSBO seller who hasn't had any luck selling and is considering hiring an agent.

Virtually, every consumer entering the housing market in any capacity should read this book. Also recommended for people who are considering a career in real estate.

Genes and the Agents of Life: The Individual in the Fragile Sciences Biology

An ambitious and interesting treatment of biological individuality
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-09-25
Robert A. Wilson provides a deep analysis of what he terms the "agents of life," those loci of biological causation running the gamut from genes to speces. R.A. Wilson takes a fresh look at essentialism with respect to biological kinds and applies recent work in biophilosophy to his views of genes, living things, organisms, and species. He grafts Richard Boyd's outline of homeostatic property cluster kinds (HPCKs) to these natural kinds. The merit of the HPCK view lies in its novel approach to essentialism shorn its negative features. An HPCK is a causally-related, usually co-instantiated "cluster" of properties; while entities will have many properties associated with their kind, no n-tuple of properties is necessary for kind membership. Thus, the arduous quest for a set of necessary and jointly sufficient conditions becomes a merit, rather than demerit, of essentialism.

R.A. Wilson's work is essential reading for those interested or even professionally concerned with biological individuality and those who continue to contend with the species-as-individual (SAI) thesis.

can you really trust your own US Government?
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-08-04
Here we are in 2007, trying to manage the world affairs by telling everyone how responsible the US Government is in protecting the world from nukes, chemicals, and mass terrorist activity worldwide, yet for all intent, our own cause has been 100 times far more reckless.

These authors have gathered up the news, reports, research, and propaganda, where our own Government, using our own money, placed its own population, and that of other sovereign nations, as well as military personnel, and unsuspecting, trusting citizens IN HARM'S WAY!!!!

A very interesting narrative, with pictures. Shows above ground nuke blasts with military personnel only a few hundreds of feet away from the blast in foxholes; many of which felt the full force of the shockwave and heat flash, then had to get up and march into the maelstrom. Not once, but in at least 20 similar exercises; many of which for no actual testing purposes, but rather like some other sort of needless, expensive 'fireworks' show for the press, and public. thousands fried, and no subsequent medical care for the symptoms developed. Radioactive dirt clouds over Eastern NV and Western UT, and a few over Las Vegas itself. And the cleanup crews sent in on the battleships of Bikini Islands.

Or the indiscriminate use of defoliants in Viet Nam, that destroyed old forests and farm lands. Big money was made by DOW and Monsanto, among others; the key ingredient being dioxin, the most toxic synthetic chemical ever produced. though the Spraying began in the late 1950s and early 1960's, and DOW claimed the product was safe and inert on humans, the original German plant that made the chemical, also determined that dioxin was the active component, and that in 1954. It was a short step to between its steps and that of other makers, yet lives stand no chance when the US Government gets involved, and some outfit have a chance to the deep pockets of US Defense.

This very well written book stopped in 1979 or 1980, but we all have witnessed even more of like irresponsible behavior of our own mediators, governors and legislators. Drugs, experiments, goals, etc., .... if the US G is around, everyone else is going to lose out.
