I have only read the first volume in the series and loved it. (I've only read the first volume because I picked up the book after the series had gone out of print.) This book is great fun with a hint of a morality play being acted out as the forces of good oppose the forces of evil. The time frame is the the 1930s (an obvious time frame in which to have good and evil forces vying for control.) Fun read and highly recommended if you can find a copy.

The Must-have Book about Agent Systems

If you only buy one book on agent systems you could do a whole lot worse than splash out on this thoroughly admirable and admirably thorough work from d'Inverno and Luck. Easy to follow (even if your Z spec is a bit rusty, as mine is), clear and really well set out. The authors have a deep understanding of their subject and a rare ability to communicate their ideas.

Useful framework for agents, with helpful case studies.

There are several books on intelligent agents and multi-agents systems that I've come across, but most are either too broad-ranging and shallow so that they don't actually get to important core issues, or they're too narrow and mathematical for my liking (and for many others). This excellent book somehow manages to pull off the feat of providing a good introduction to agents, while also drilling down to some fascinating and deep issues in multi-agent systems. What's particularly good is that it does two things - it analyses and explains the issues with really clear textual description, and then provides a more formal description (using the Z specification language) that is surprisingly readable.

After providing an introductory chapter, the book presents a "framework" for understanding agent systems (hence the title) in which it brings together various different notions of agents. The chapters cover the framework itself, the different kinds of inter-agent

relationships that arise within it (to get to multi-agent systems), and more complex agents with greater sophistication. There are also a couple of case-study chapters that show how the model can be used to give descriptions of BDI systems and the contract net.

Throughout, the authors provide really good explanations, and then also formal descriptions using Z. Whether or not you buy the claim that Z is the most used industrial formal method, it turns out that despite the mathematical nature of the Z specification, the book as a whole is really very readable. It is worth noting that the level of mathematical description in the book for describing the framework and the systems is pretty close to abstract code descriptions (which is perhaps not surprising given that Z is intended for use for specifying software). With the appendix intro to Z, the book should also be a useful resource for developers wanting to understand exactly what would be involved in building systems.

One of the difficulties I've found when reading about agents is trying to make sense of some very different ideas and systems, and trying to understand how they fit together. This book provides some of the answers. In summary, the book covers some basic agent concepts, and builds them up to describe quite complex multi-agent systems, moving from abstract ideas to descriptions of specific implemented systems, and showing how they come together. It provides an excellent

introduction to agents, and keeps going to address some much deeper issues.

Pam Wilson is every woman. She could be your best friend, next door neighbor, or a former college roommate. In The Unlikely Agent you experience her shock when she discovers her parents murdered and her anguish when she reads that they may have been the victims of a Mafia revenge killing.

As Pam delves deeper into the mystery surrounding her parents' deaths, you realize she is walking into very serious trouble. But she doesn't realize it, and you are helpless to warn her. The ending is a crescendo of action, full of surprises and unique twists. In the best style of classic mystery writers, you realize Walker has left numerous clues for you. There is a feeling of satisfaction when you, along with Pam, pull the jigsaw puzzle together.

Walker's style is clean and quick, without needless detail and description. You visualize a motel room even though you don't know the color of the carpet or couch, or the wall paper pattern. But does that really matter? The Unlikely Agent is a cozy novel. It's a perfect companion for a trip, a vacation, or a day at the beach. Violence, sex, and profanity are suggested, but never seen directly. It's fun. The creeps and jerks are creeps and jerks. The villains are pure evil. And Pam . . . well . . . she is your best friend.

Fabulous! I loved it!

The Unlikely Agent is a great read! This book makes you want to be Pam Wilsons best friend. It is complex enough to hold your interest without making your eyes glaze over.

A perfect book to spend a relaxing afternoon with. I can't wait to read the next Pam Wilson mystery.

In addition to what the other reviewer has already written, it must be said that this EXCELLENT book gives you tips on placement of transformers, why things should be done that way, etc. It is shocking, and a pity that not all vacuum tube amps are produced with the advice written here applied in their design. If you are into high fidelity vacuum tube audio, and are thinking of building a kit, get this book. It will help you.

A BRILLIANT, THOUGHT-PROVOKING, MUCH ANTICIPATED BOOK
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2004-10-07
A high-speed, thought-provoking, eye-opening account of the Los Angeles art scene in all its brutal, sexy, scary, narcissistic, oppressive, vacuous, seductive glory. Trying to find her way through the insane labyrinth of an art world that seems to be a byproduct of the entertainment and sex industries, struggling to fit into an MFA program without being "a part of the program," Chris Kraus delivers a powerful book where every sentence is as sharp as the pain of rejection, every observation as acute as the mental state of the scene itself. Not only does VIDEO GREEN stand on its own as a rare and priceless documentation of the dazzling emptiness behind the center of the universe, it can also be read as the third, much anticipated installment in Chris Kraus's wonderful L.A. trilogy. In other words, if you're looking for other books to buy with the excellent VIDEO GREEN, get I LOVE DICK and ALIENS & ANOREXIA.

Review Date: 2004-12-07
Video Green, just out in Semiotext(e)'s Native Agents Series, is the most recent compellation of Chris Kraus essays. Written in the early-to-mid-90s after the author and critic moved from New York to Los Angeles, the book is her second since the infamous I Love Dick, a fictionalized account of her short tryst with Dick Hebdige, author of Subculture: The Meaning of Style. Although it is true that Video Green casts a jaundiced eye on the academicism of Los Angeles art, it is almost by accident. Kraus happened to be teaching in the graduate program at the Art Center College of Design when she wrote the essays. Most of the writing is really much more about the culture shock of a New Yorker trying to acclimate herself to a West Coast world she found ironically lonely and inhuman. It so happened much of the art coming out of the schools during that period Kraus felt mirrored what was most empty about Los Angeles. The better part of the book, however, is actually not about art as much as it is about living. Kraus's larger subject is often the artifice of sincerity. Where psychology is at issue, nothing is certain or fixed in a Kraus piece. The writing is as much concerned with telling a story as it is with the story itself. As with Aliens and Anorexia or I Love Dick, these essays are about intimacy, both as something that is somehow produced by construction and as something that altogether escapes it. The Kraus self-portrayed in these essays is a super complex person, equally rendered in full emotional armor and simultaneously bared to the harshest scrutiny. Kraus devotes much of her book to recounting her experiences trying to connect to the new world around her. Much of the book is, in fact, an original exploration of bondage, etc. Video Green is illustrated with atmospheric photos by the artist Daniel Marlos.

It's been said that the only thing you can count on in life is change. Lea Belair takes you on a brilliant inner journey to change your thinking in order to change your life. Her five practical and thought-provoking steps will help you begin to make different choices that lead to having desired experiences.

Lea is a master at providing distinctions (defined as a subtle difference when you contract like-seeming words). She includes 20 distinctions to help you stop and observe your habitual thinking patterns. And you are given powerful resources and action steps to anchor your new insights.

One of my favorite distinctions is: Rush vs. Overwhelm. Lea helps you understand that if you are rushing, you are already feeling overwhelmed!

Whether you are new to personal growth or a seasoned explorer, you will gain clarity. No doubt "Walk on Water" will become a handy resource - one that you will refer to often. I know I do!

This is the first in collection of books about a young girl who finds herself at an Angel Academy after she dies in accident not long after her 12th birthday. Beeing a trainee Angel isn't what Mel Beeby expected from life...er death that is. She still misses her mother and younger sister and she isn't sure at first if she's cut out for the duties of an Angel, duties which include Time Travel and helping people when they need it most back on earth. Also being an Angel can be dangerous work, there are the "others" the [bad] ones who try to thwart the work of the Angels and there are other distractions too in the guise of good looking boy Angels who go by the name of Orlando.

This is a great book for a pre-teen or early teen reader. I wouldn't be surprised if this book and its equally good sequels were eventually made into a TV series. A quality fun read for all those kids who like a fantasy read that sparkles from page to page.

I own several real estate investing books, and have read many, many more, this is a keeper.
Most of them I flip thru and make a few notes, and put it back on the shelf.
this one is worth the $22 to keep and refer back to.

Lots of good, sound advice.
For men or women.

If I could only own 3 real estate investing books, this would be one of them.
There is no "Buy 2 houses a month with no down payment" garbage in this book.

Combined with Lonnie Scruggs and Tony Colella's books, regarding investing in mobile homes, you should have a great start to achieving your goals, no matter where you live or how little cash you have to get started.

A 'terrorist-induced' epidemic using biological weapons - most likely smallpox - is almost certainly about to happen.

The Illuminati need to destroy & ressurect the nation in order to bring about the New World Order in accordance with Masonic 'Ark Mariner' traditions of Enoch & Noah.

This may be the most important book you ever read.

I reccomend reading "The New World Order", also available bere.
