Sympathetic Christian Scholar doesn't quite "get" Magic
"in order to heal estrangement from Biblical religion"
Well, No. Biblical religion has naught to do with our practice of Witchcraft, it is certainly not the goal of our religion as the above seesm to imply. This editorial review above does betray the author's bias; she is not a Pagan despite recieving initiation in Reclaiming tradition of Witchcraft. Ours is an ecstatic religious tradition of the immanent Goddess, fundamentally different from the Judaeo-Christian-Islamic religions, but also more ecstatic, activist, transfomational and less into polarity than Wicca. Her style is scholarly, yet her biases shape her research.

Good resource for a job search in the Puget Sound area
This book can be a real time saver and effectiveness enhancer for executives, profesionals and others looking for that next exciting opportunity in the Puget Sound area. It allows contacting headhunters to be a more productive task, as areas of focus are listed for each firm, along with contact information for submitting a resume by one of the many ways available (USPS, e-mail, fax and phone call). Like any directory, the information is dated before it goes to press, so expect changes. PS -- Don't relocate to here, as it really does RAIN ALL THE TIME!

too theoritical
This one is too academic and difficult to digest, although it (probably) has some good ideas. Applying them is the question? Reminds of of Lebowitz's book on KM.

For anyone who wants to be a travel agent in the UK
Book seems okay; however it is written for someone who wants to be employed for a travel agency; not for the agency. I was looking for a book to help describe the practice within an agency (back office management, business practices, etc.).

New York City Model Agency Directory (Serial)

Somewhat helpful, but outdated
The NYC Model Agency Directory *would* be a helpful book if a newer edition were available. However, this edition is now three years old, so much of the information is outdated (for example the names of agents/managers and the locations of their agencies). What is usefull though, is the comprehensive list of what each agency wants - men, women, pictures, parts models etc. Overall it's a helpful book, but it needs a companion guide like a current New York Yellow Pages to be truely useful.

Good reading for those who find cryptology interesting
The author has attempted to expand on his knowledge of cryptology in the Navy with a lot of imagination to round out the intreging subject. The book was removed from circulation for a while by a government agency due to some of the information contained in the book.

I finished with more questions than answers.
I am on an endless quest, it seems; to find a book on the administrative state that is informative while being at least mildly enthusiastic about its subject. This book starts out enthusiastic. This book certainly started with enthusiasm. The first chapter, in fact, is devoted to convincing us why the administrative state is a superb American invention (a view I do not always share!) Chapter 5, which is devoted to public participation in the Admin. state also bubbles with giddiness.

Like a horse on crack-cocaine, though, this book stars with gallant speed, slows down fast and ends with an mild gasp. I'm sure this was not the authors intention. There are two main reasons. First, as the book is structured so that each chapter examines another area of admin. state rule making (oversight from the 3 branches, rulemaking structure, inherent paradoxes of the process) the first two chapters, which are almost overviews of the rest of the book, builds up high expectations. For example, when the first chapter lightly nibbles at rulemaking's structural issues, tow paragraphs in we are told that we will need to wait untill another chapter for a discussion. The author does this repeatedly throughout the book, thus leaving the reader in a constant hang.

The second reason for the flickering finish of the book is that, and unfortunately as with most admin. state books, not much save for completely varied anecdotal information is offered. How are rules written, the book asks; it depends on the administration, it answers. What about modes of public participation and debate? Depends on the rules of the comission. After a while, its almost pointless to read the next chapter as we begin to guess the answer to each question posed.

The reason, though, for the three stars is this: Chapter 1 (on justifications for the admin. state), Chapter 3(paradoxes inherent in the rulemaking process) and Chapter 7 (the role of theory in rulemaking and its reform) are actually decent and informative chapters. Vagueness aside, they do provide useful anecdotes. Also Chapters 3 and 7 present ideas, discussions and points that are all but ignored in other books on admin. state rulemaking. Buy the book, read those 3 chapters and maybe skim the rest.

Scarlet Survey: An Accounting--From Courthouses, Health Agencies, Police Blotters, and Morgues Across America--Of Women and Girls Exploited by Abortion on Demand
Published in Paperback by Brennyman Books (May, 1997)
Author: Kevin Sherlock
Amazon base price: $13.97
List price: $19.95 (that's 30% off!)
Average review score:

10 out of 10 for content, 3 out of 10 for style.
Readers of the true crime genre might like Sherlock's style, but most people will find him a bit too in-your-face for their taste. This is a shame, because The Scarlet Survey is a no-holds-barred look at the seamy underside of American abortion practice. Sherlock peers under every rock, and describes with gleeful loathing whatever he finds crawling there -- and there is indeed vermin galore. His sources are excellent and carefully cited. The Scarlet Survey is an eye-opener, and worth the read if you can get past the tone.
