My father served in WWII in India. I had never before read anything devoted to this angle of the war. Van Hogendorp's story is all the more special as it is written by a brave woman living in challenging circumstances. She was one a small number of women to take on this challenge, and she holds fast to her high spirited sense of humor throughout.

As we turn the page on this century, I would love to hear more voices like hers sharing such stories.

The book contains a lot of detailed guidelines and insights. Many references. Recommended.

This book is a must for any graduate program in Economics. The authors show how the state-contingent approach can be extended to production problems breaking the path for a unified duality theory under uncertainty. They also show that agency theory does not need to be inacessible for someone who does not care much about probability theory. Bravo!

context. The principal functions of peace-keeping,
disarmament, refugees and executive authorities are cited
in enough detail to provide a valuable background for
understanding the UN in accordance with the various
functions of the charter. The principal organ, composition,
method of appointment and organizational references are
set forth in great detail. Sample major decisions are
given to provide readers with how the UN evolved in its
decision-making capability over time. Practical problems with
inspections are fully described. This work would be very helpful
in providing the background for class projects and assignments
in government, world history, political science and
organizational design courses.

Nomy has taken a realistic approach to the question of moral agency and brought a new clarity to the field that should shake us free of dulling traditional assumptions. Her carefully examined examples and precisely drawn conclusions set a standard rarely reached in works of its type. I highly recommend it.

Author Wensley Clarkson does a commendable job in uncovering the tragic murder of a British agent who got too close to the ruthless world of international arms dealers. The book goes behind the news stories, and provides a keen insight to what really goes on in the world of espionage and counter-intelligence. It's also a who-done-it mystery that keeps the reader guessing until the very end. Clarkson's work is enhanced by its focus on the human tragedy of two loving parents forced to deal with the loss of an only child, and their stuggle to see justice done. Anyone with an interest in this subject area will love it. "The Valkyrie Operation" is an absolute must-read for British citizens who want a taste of how the secret-side of their government operates.

I am an advanced math studies student currently studying theoretical quantum physics, Quion's theorem, and CX-456 machine logic encoding (this is for the real minds of mathematical locale out there), and my professor recomended this book for me to take in. It is a fascinating read, if albeit questionable, since it does infact come from the United State's premier agency, and information they regard on a daily basis is beyond top secret, it does, for the most part, make sense, and actually spurs thought to those who know what they are looking at.

A worthy finish to the series - makes you sad there won't be more Oakes books. The real events following the completion of the book (late 1993) don't really alter how Buckley painted 1994 and 1995. A great read.

This account of Jim Jones, Peoples Temple and the Jonestown massacre is one of the most thorough and disturbing works in the genre. Covering events and personalities connected to Jonestown in such fine detail as to render the environment of the People's Temple almost palpable, this work is invaluable to those truly interested in the phenomena known as "Jonestown". Although I remain skeptical regarding the truth of Meiers' claim that the "mass suicide" at Jonestown was a CIA medical experiment, the wealth of evidence he presents leaves little doubt that there was more to Jim Jones, People's Temple and Jonestown than suggested by the standard histories and general media coverage.
