Korean listening comprehension is an extremely difficult task. There is a serious need for instruction materials in this area, and publishers are doing very little to meet this need.

This volume 1 is easy to use, but it goes only a short way toward meeting the student's needs.

Both volume 1 and 2 of this series seem to be out of print, and volume 2 seems to be unavailable anywhere.

Meanwhile, the same publisher has published another listening course (1565912470) which is ten times too difficult. Why they have done that is known only to the publisher and God.

One more word: Don't buy both this item and "Elementary Task-Cenetered LIstening Comprehension of Korean" (1565910265). The two items differ only in title.

For those who are interested in the British WWI campaign in Mesopotamia, the tragic surrender of British forces at Kut-Al-Amara was up to that date, the largest mass surrender of British forces.
Bishop was an officer at Kut at the date of the surrender. While there are other better first-hand accounts of the movement of prisoners from Kut to Anatolia, they are all unique based on the author's experiences.
The majority of this book plods from day to day, but an interesting twist develops later in the book which does make for an interesting read (but I will let you determine that yourself.)

I bought this book following recommendation from a friend who heaped lavish praise on the effectiveness of mind mapping. I found the book interesting and enlightening as it explains a more natural approach to organize thoughts than what we are trained to think linearly.

I learnt that it is easier to organize your thoughts with a series of pictures than by trying to learn by heart. This book shows you the various ways that you can create a mind map and how this can be helpful in all subjects. Mind-maps are creative technique used to organize thoughts, classify key ideas, link ideas, and help you to remember more effectively, while using the two sides of your brain.

Since reading the book I have been using mind maps to organize my work, learn French, make out my daily to do list, and outline papers I will present with some success. The book is easy to read and follow and I recommend it.

This books lists almost 250 parks, forests and other natural areas throughout the state of NJ and describes the recreational activities and facilities at each. Activities include fishing, boating, hunting, picnicing, camping, swimming and more. Also included are phone numbers for administrative offices and town recreational departments. The book is nicely organized by county regions and although no maps are included, directions for each area from a major highway are outlined.

Get this if you already live in NYC or intend to visit, you will not be disappointed. I loved the detailed info on the architecture of the Woolworth building and the history behind the folks in buried in Trinity Cemetary. I enjoyed the facts of who used to live in what buildings in the Village. When covering the 5-Points Section, what is now the Federal &State Courts area & Chinatown, was absolutlely fun trying to hunt down these old sites still visible for myself. All the info on the history of some of the street names was curious such as Mott, Pell, Bayard & Baxter streets were named after the butchers in the area when that area was a stinking mess. The lore surrounding Wahington Square Park, especially the "Hanging Tree" was fascinating. I'm still trying to figure out which tree it is! All the semi-hidden small cemetaries mentioned in Manhattan is worth a look; knowing that these still exist especially when the real estate here is so astronimical in price. I hope people make good use of this guide when showing off the City to visitors & I'm sure tourists will get a kick out of an insiders tour of NYC.

This small packable book, easy to carry because of its' size, includes almost 1,000 quotations, all organized around NOLS's wilderness education curriculum. Quotes from: Albert Einstein, Ernest Shackleton, Edward Abbey, Theodore Roosevelt, John Muir, Barry Lopez, Henry David Thoreau, Mark Twain, Rachel Carson, Aldo Leopold, Plato, Wallace Stegner, Morris Udall, - to name a very few.! The quotes are divided up into 130 chapters addressing areas of thought - such as: beauty, biodiversity, endurance, failure and success, individuality, taking risks, natural rhythms, oceans, self-awareness, etc.

The late Dr. Schick, brings years of experience and many experts together in one very comprehensive book. It is great for researchers thet need to fully inderstand the topic, or for less serious readers that need answers to specific technology related questions. Great addition to any technical library of the surfactactant practitioner.

My son (16 months) just adores this book and will have me read it over and over. The simple rhymes and bright pictures of familiar objects (bananas, pancakes, socks, shoes, etc.) fascinate him. He loves the balloons and will point to each one in turn. I give it four stars only because I wish it was longer!

I bought this book for my husband's elk hunting trips. The book is only 1/2-inch thick, yet it gives lots of ideas for healthy cooking at camp (or offshore) when you reduce your cooking gear to only one pot or pan to save weight and space. The recipes are sorted by the type of pan best suited for them (fry pan vs. pot).

It discusses what mixes or preparation can be done before leaving home, how to pack the food for hiking, and how to rig a bear bag to keep the food safe from varmints. Mr. Jacobson even shows how to build an oven from a 3-pound coffee can. My husband likes the checklist of essential kitchen tools and spices.

For the non-cook, Mr. Jacobson has included recipes for scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs and fresh coffee. However, this little book also includes more exotic recipes such as Calcutta Chicken and Red-Eye Stew.

Mr. Jacobson's fare is geared to a 2-night outing, allowing him to carry fresh food rather than rely on dehydrated food.

It's a useful little book, one that stashes easily in the truck or boat. Camping out doesn't have to mean hot dogs and beans!
