It is a very good Audio cassete Collection.
These Audio cassetes belong in a museum. They give good morals to kids today, while following the Lords prayer. They are also very exiting. I would recomend them to all ages(exept 3 and under; they might eat the tape.)

The Adventures of Tom Bombadil

Fine verse
It is crazy that this book should be out of print. What are publishers thinking of? The verses are a delight, though they become increasingly tragic as the book progresses - "The Sea Bell" is a devastating account of something like clinical depression, yet like many of the rest it has a strange beauty. On the surface much is easy-to-read verse, but often has subtle allusions to deep matters. Many links with "The Lord of the Rings" for those who know where to look, and, I think, an unusually personal account of Tolkien's own struggles to find beauty, wonder and enchantment in the bleak modern world - it is only coincidence that "The Sea Bell" is the only one of his major works for publication written in the first person?

Aesthetic as science of expression & general linguistic

The ultimate Aesthetics resource and primer
If you are interested in aesthetics, this is an essential. I am doing research on the German Enlightenment, and only Croce offers a detailed discourse on thinkers whose importance only matches their obscurity. The first half of this book presents Croce's own aesthetic theory: an atheistic theory with a Hegelian twist (he wrote what is living and what is dead of Hegel) that is spiritual without being religious. The second half of the book is the real gem. This is a detailed history of aesthetics, in all its obscurantist glory! Do not deny yourself a book that is both an illuminating introduction to aesthetics via its history, a penetrating theory of aesthetics, and a great reference book for an aesthetician. The man who coined the term aesthetics, Alexander Baumgarten, is developed in this book ... one of the few books that goes beyond mentioning his name and importance.

African Wo/Man Palava: The Nigerian Novel by Women (Women in Culture and Society)
Published in Hardcover by University of Chicago Press (March, 1996)
Authors: Chikwenye Okonjo Ogunyemi and Catharine R. Stimpson
Amazon base price: $39.00

The most concise book on Nigerian Woman Writers
This book was exactly what I was looking for. This book took a really good thorough look at the other half of Nigerian novels. The side that is too often neglected: the Women. It went deep and discussed aspects of these novels that non-Nigerians and even Nigerian men are not likely to catch or know.

Airport report : Salt Lake City International Airport, its development, 1968-1976 : vision, persistence in the face of obstacles, and support produced the master plan propelling the Salt Lake City International Airport into the 21st Century as one of the nation's finest airports

The best airport administration history book I've read
...P>This book does not contain his fascinating war stories, however; this is an autobiographical perspective on the management of a major airport, and therefore appeals to a fairly specific audience--airport administrators. There is some value to the average business administrator, though: General Bywater points out some of the pitfalls that any admin might face, particularly one involved in municipal or state government. He also tells, in an entertaining fashion, how he and his crew managed to get past the snags and build SLC into a first-class airport.

This book is not as gripping as Bywater's other publications, simply due to the nature of the material--to the average reader, war stories tend to be more exciting than airport management. However, those in the airline industry may find an interesting perspective within the pages of Airport Report.

Alcatraz Screw
This is a great book for anyone interested in what life was like on Alcatraz from an insider's perspective. Mr. Gregory served as a prison guard on Alcatraz and explains in detail the daily routines of the prisoners and guards. He writes very directly about the various jobs he had while there and what life was like. He adds a very human aspect to the people in his book while writing very "matter of factly." I was engaged by the book and did not want to put it down at times. Having read other books on Alcatraz and having been there, this book told me an insider's perspective that I had never felt I'd had before. I recommend it highly to anyone who has even the slightest interest in what Alcatraz was really like.

All About the USA: A Cultural Reader
Published in Paperback by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (July, 1991)
Authors: Milada Broukal and Peter Murphy

High Interest for Low Intermediates
All About the USA offers 30 reading selections on topics such as baseball, history of hot dogs and hamburgers, the bald eagle, Uncle Sam, and cranberries. Most of these topics are common knowledge to people who have grown up in the USA, but are new and interesting to immigrants. I have enjoyed seeing students' eyes spark as, while they read, they gain insight into another tidbit of the "culture" in which they now live.

It also provides vocabulary practice, comprehension exercises, grammar points, and follow-up discussion suggestions.

I've taught in public school, college, corporations, and the county jail, and I've used this book with all types of students: adults, children, and teenagers.

For students at a slightly lower level, I recommend Introducing the USA by the same author.

All American Alien Boy: The United States As Science Fiction, Science Fiction As a Journey; A Collection

Down to Earth stories set in a science fictional backdrop
Allen Steele, well known for his novels The Jericho Iteration and The Tranquility Alternative shows us where his true talents lie...the short story/novella. This collection is full of insightful short fiction which uses science fiction not as a driving force behind the story, but rather as a backdrop. From the story "Lost in the Shopping Mall" which uses VR as the setting for a story about teen angst, to "Hunting Wabbit" in which the fact that the Earth is about to be destroyed is completely ancillary to a story about critics, authors, and the the relationships they share.
Each story is accompanied by the authors musings on his motivations behind the story and it is precisely this that makes this an excellent read even if you've read all the stories contained herein before.
