This was a great book that will be helpful to anyone who sells anything or has clients. Magnacca's point, that we are our own best product, is important for anyone who works in the service industry. This book takes the 80-20 rule to another level and helped me understand how I've gotten in my own way as I've tried to grow my business. While the product is me, I now know how to relate to my clients better and that understanding their needs, and how I can help solve their problems, is what will bring me greater success. Read this book!

What a terrific book! I've been in the financial services business for nearly 20 years and have read most of the best books on the market. Mark Magnacca tells you precisely what you need to know and do to differentiate yourself as an advisor/salesperson. There is no doubt after reading this book that THE BEST product we all have to sell in the marketplace today is ourselves. Mark provides a very effective process that I've already applied to my business in just 2 weeks!

One of my friend suggested me to read this book. It gives muslim perspective on war, struggle and definition of jihad. This book shows the military aspect of Mohammed`s life. Excellent book especially for people interested in military, history and religion.

hello everybody, i confess, i dont know much about prophet muhammad, but so far this was the best book (content wise) that i have read written on him. It really reads like a novel and it is very rich with historical information as well as on the religion Islam. Good buy!

Using this book to supplement studies in psychology at advanced level courses makes understanding key concepts easy. However, some high foluted language often makes the text confusing.

In their introduction to this orderly, accessible, and informative book, the authors define as-if pathology as "essentially imitative, a way of life built on a series of transient identifications in which the individual acts as if he or she were sensitive, empathic, conservative, religious, or even rebellious - all dependent on what others want the individual to be."

The "quiet borderline patient" is, according to the authors, an overlooked personality, having ceded psychoanalytic terrain (in the literature as well as the consulting room) to the demanding histrionics and chaos of the "noisy borderline." Completely different etiology!

Because as-if etiology includes the "appearance of normalcy, precocious ego development,and the absence of identity," (which are also chapters headings), there is no psychosis. According the the authors, a clinician who is unaware of the 'as-if' pathology may have a feeling that something is not quite right with the patient, but be continuously unable to identify it - or to treat it. To add to the elusiveness (of the pathology as well as its diagnosis), the authors write that it's a given that all persons, to greater or lesser extent, experience transient identifications - ideally, on the way to a solid, developed identity. So one of the difficulties that clinicians have in identifying this pathology is that patients often seem pretty "normal." It takes a perceptive - and educated - clinician to competently diagnose and treat these patients. This book would seem to make a sizable contribution to that education. Many examples are provided, in a fluid and readable format.

The authors rely on literature, their clinical experience,and what is obviously a great deal of their focused attention in order to describe intervention strategies and techniques. The final chapter, "As-if Trends in Culture and Therapy," strives to place this pathology in societal context.

There is an extensive bibliography and a good index. I'm not in the field, rather an enthusiastic reader - but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the subject.

Frustration, anger, and manipulations are often evident when attempting to work with borderline clients. My empathy increased ten-fold as I read and applied the principles of this book. Highly recommended for all mental health professional

Critically detailed and impeccably reseached, Joelle Jay caused me to have so many moments of "Aha!" that the people sitting next to me at Starbucks finally had to ask what I was reading.

I opened this book not knowing what to expect. I was soon engrossed in one of the most inspirational and insightful books I've ever read. Many of the book's passages are rather deep but also very beautifully written. The statements in themselves were like mini works of art. I started dog-earing pages that I wanted to be able to refer back to, and quickly noticed I was marking nearly every page. I think this book may be difficult for some to read because it is very profound, but for those whose minds work that way, it will deliver nothing but page after page of exhiliration and awe.

This book is a wonderful find for any woman that is on her spiritual journey. I am sorry to learn it is out of print, for I long to order copies and send them to all my friends. If you can beg, borrow, or steal a copy of this book...do so. and share it with as many women as you can.

I read this book several years ago and was so impressed with the research, the detail, the style and the care that Tony Martin took to tell the Marcus Garvey story.

It is a wonderfully balanced look at his successes, his failures, his faith in God and most of all his impact on our nation.

I highly recommend this to history lovers of all backgrounds. You won't be disappointed.

Dr. Martin effectively conveys a sense of the profound mission on which Marcus Garvey launched himself and his organization, the UNIA. Garvey understood the importance of psychology as well as economics and Dr. Martin's book describes his efforts, successful and unsuccessful, to achieve his very ambitious goals.

"Race First", for example, lists the states and countries that were the homes of the 996 chapters of the UNIA on five continents and in the Caribbean. Dr. Martin also describes how the U.S. and colonial governments conspired to block the UNIA's program and even the distribution of its newspaper (printed in three languages).

This book is indispensable to understanding modern American, African and world history and especially to understanding the "Black/African Nationalist" impulse of Africans in the Diaspora.

compelling force, and its contents make for riveting reading. The
stories Dr. Harris has compiled and edited -- as well as her own
introductory materials -- pack a wallop as well as open up a view into a
world of domestic trauma and violence against women that many of us know
only second-hand. But the personal accounts she's assembled, the poems,
letters, etc., really bring us into that world very directly, and I'm
sure many of those stories have not only helped those who wrote them but
will help and inspire those who read them, particularly women, of course.
This is a very important book demonstrating the courage that women can
discover in themselves when confronting vicious forms of mistreatment and
the heroic actions that they can take, not just in their own defense, but
in creating new lives for themselves and their families. Everyone with
an interest in this subject -- and not just women -- should read this
eye-opener of a book.

A year ago I bought Vol 2 "Birds and mammals", Fantastic. One of my treasures.
I have been looking for Vol 1 and no body has it or want to sell it. I am sure that a new edition will be a succesfull and a gift for all we love fly fishing and tying .

Paul pulls together a concise informative description of the animal providing the material along with its range of domain. He bridges this over into the use of the material in the realm of fly tying. This book is one of a two part set. Be sure to buy both. In the second book of the set he includes sections on man made materials and a couple of other special topics. His section on genetic hackle and the history of its development is insightful and very well done. The supporting photography of flies and patterns tied by many contemporary tiers makes this a truly wonderful book to sit and page through for an hour or sit and read for several. An excellent compilation.

This overview book expounds many of the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along the line of "Gospel Principles," and is a very good read, considering Elder Widtsoe was an emigrant form Norway. He covers the basics, but as President Hinckley has said, we learn by repetition. For those who are a fan of Widtsoe, this is an essential addition to their library.

The only drawback being that it is was designed for used in priesthood meetings, so it is not designed for non-Saints. For anyone interesting in "first contact" with the Latter-day Saints, I would recommend reading "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ," or "Standing for Something" by Gordon B. Hinckley, the current world leader of the Church. Don't drink below the horses, including myself!

It should be noted that Brother Widtsoe comes from the point of view of a chemist and describes our theology in terms of rationality and a science. C. S. Lewis warned about "Christianity And," (Screwtape Letters, chapter 25) such as "Christianity and Pacifism," or "Christianity and Vegetarianism," the problem being that we are diluting the Gospel and rewriting it in the light of our own hobbies or profession.

True, our theology is rational and can stand the scrutiny of a Thomas Aquinas or a Jesse Ventura, but it is not the product of a test-tube or a syllogism. In other words, Joseph Smith didn't get our religion from re-shuffling verses of the bible, or just deep thinking or pondering, but he got revelations. He said, "I have got all the truth which the Christian world possessed, and an independent revelation in the bargain, and God will bear me off triumphant." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 376)

Despite this one point, would recommend this book for a new member learning, a non-member curious, or an old member wanting to review basics. C. S. Lewis also said that we should alternate between reading old books, and new books, since the old ones have stood the test of time, whereas the new books, such as "Believing Christ," or John Bytheway books are still on trial. I'm not saying the are bad, but that there is a verdict of history associated with "Jesus the Christ," or "Mormon Doctrine" that these striplings do not yet have.

This is an unusual review, as I have not read the book. But I noted that no-one else has reviewed it, so somebody has to say something. My father was found by LDS missionaries in 1961. He has a great love of science, and naturally had many questions. Someone gave him a copy of this book, and he was convinced. He has a rational answer to most questions, and this book shaped his attitudes. I have not read the book, but it has indirectly defined my life and the lives of others.
