I really liked this book because it has good stories. I like it that it that it says living in a step family can turn out good. I also like that this book has short bible verses that teach me about getting along and stuff. I am glad my parents read this book to me and my brother.

The author of Devotions for the Blended Family speaks to the need for a strength greater than oneself when living in a step family. She shows how the Bible contains wisdom for the struggles of step families, and does this by using interesting stories from every day family life. Children will love the stories, understand the biblical applications, and be reassured that other kids have the same problems they do. Parents will be glad to use Smith-Broersma's book as a tool for discussing areas of difficulty with their children.The questions at the end of each reading have enriched many a family conversation, and help the to children open up to their parent and step parent.

This book is fine. It is getting right to the point.

I highly recommend this book for everyone who has, or cares about someone who has diabetes. If you ever heard, "test this, restrict that, and by the way, you'll probably end up going blind anyway" and then thought "Why should I?" this is a great eye-opener. This book offers real-life feelings and experiences of other DM-ers (both types) in support of the idea that major adjustments are being/have been required in your life, and there are emotional side-effects of those changes that most of our doctors are not trained to deal with. It has some good tips, but more importantly, helps you ask the question: exactly how is this going to effect my self-image? Great section about thinking of yourself as "good or bad" based on choices that most make without a second thought. (i.e. should I go for a run?) There are also good chapters on how parents feel when a child is diagnosed, teenagers and their control issues, and sex. I especially recommend this book for anyone with diabetes experiencing depression, whether recently diagnosed or going on the 40th anniversary. One drawback - the book is a bit old, so references to the med stuff is dated

This is a really meaty book, with lots and lots of good, solid scholarship. Some of the articles are path-breaking; all are rewarding.

I got it for the article on Leroy Robertson's Oratorio from the Book of Mormon.

This first volume, along with Volume 2: Discourse as Social Interaction, provides an excellent introduction to the field that includes the most contemporary perspectives. Topics covered in Voume 1 include semantics, stylistics, narrative, argumentation, and cognition (including social cognition).

One strength of the approach is the emphasis on critical and explanatory discourse analysis, including the analysis of ideology, rather than simply descriptive commentary on discourse. Another strength is the extensive list of references for each chapter - something that will be very useful when making detailed forays into different research areas.

Beginning researchers will find this strong collection fascinating and will certainly want to read more in the field. More experienced researchers will probably appreciate the clarity and critical edge of the essays. Highly recommended.

I wish I had this book to hand when my guinea pig became ill a few months a go (see recovered by the way), this is a really good guide for guinea pig breeders/fanciers as well as vets. The only problem is I get so worried reading about all the things that can go wrong!

This book does not recommend that you, the cavy caretaker, in any way try to replace your cavy veterinarian. This book is an excellent reference when discussing procedures with your vet., or if you want to suggest a second opinion. Don't let this book sit on your shelf, digest every word of it and be thankful to have this information available to you!

This book was so helpful to me in terms of coming to grips with a loving, compassionate God instead of the judgmental , harsh one of my childhood. I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for God in their life.

Divine or Distorted is a writing that really helps define the misconceptions about our perceptions of God. I feel a lot of people look at their fathers and misinterpret the concept of a Heavenly Father. I had a friend who said she couldn't pray Our Father which are in Heaven, because if God was anything like her father she didn't want anything to do with him. This book Divine or Distorted helped me put the right perspective of who exactly God is and why we get bogged down with wrong perspectives of him through our parents, church and our fears. When my father died my sisters and brothers all stood in a circle holding hands and prayed the Lords Prayer and I really got choked up when we said Our Father which art in Heaven, because I really felt at that time it was true. My father was in heaven, but my Heavenly Father was already there to greet my earthly father when the time came. Father in deed! And Father with the deed to the Universe and my soul. When I looked at my earthly father in the casket I felt like no matter how good a man he was that he was disappointed with me and I could never please him, but I know now that My Heavenly Father loves me no matter what and he forgives me. There are a couple of the stories that really stand out in this book. 'What's wrong with you?' made me cry with it's example of how our short comings bring the wrath of our earthly fathers, but God still loves and forgives us. 'The boy who could do anything' made me happy to read how one boy was encouraged by his loving father as a child, which gave him the courage to achieve higher goals in life. 'Birthdays lost' was an adorable fable like story with a lot of truth in it. It shows how we can be fooled into thinking other people have more control over our lives than God. We need to quite listening to the wrong voices and listen to God. This one is easy to make us laugh at the stupidly of some people, but does give us some pause to see if we are just as gullible as they are. I recommend this book very much. It is both entertaining and enlightening.

The quality alone of this journal lends itself to having fun writing; the pages are creamy top stock, the graphics whimsical, and a ribbon marker to boot! It's great!

It's a one of a kind journal! I have had my journal for 2 years now and everyday that I write in it that message stays with me. This book is great. I read it with ease. I can speak english easily now thanks to this book I am 100% capable to speak this language easily because guess what I only know english because I live in the United States. I did believe that it covered the basics for grammer. You might find it hard but stick with it. The english language will come to you.

Erika just turned 3, we have to read this book again and again every bed time. She likes it so much. She is now able to tell the rhyme as we turn the pages. Wow... I never thought memory could be so sharp at 3! The story is cute and the mouse expressions are funny. And Erika is building vocabulary.
