Good Book
Atomic physics was a wonderful story and using a dream to provide images of the theory before explaining it is such a clever and exciting way to present a scientific theory.

I can't review a kids book without telling the whole story. So let me just say that the story is as good as the science.

Any Kid Will Love this Science
I've read all eight books in the "As Dreamed by Itsy" series to my 5 and 7 year olds. They're wonderful, all eight of them, so when you look at the others, you'll find this same review for all eight.

My kids loved them and wanted to hear them over an over. I noticed that with each reading, they comprehended a little more about the story. Even the first reading they loved and picked up a lot of information from, but they were so interested in the story to pay much attention to the concepts. After all, they didn't view the story as a lesson in science. On later readings they showed a great deal of interest and even awe at that the world really operates in such ways.

And me - I'm not a scientist, am even afraid of science, but this was easy. I picked up more from these stories than I learned in high school. Of course the kids asked questions I couldn't answer (but not too many), but they ask such questions every time we go to the park or the supermarket. I just passed off their questions in the usual way. Now when I someone says something about the Big Bang Theory, molecules or such, I feel well enough informed that I no longer quickly change the subject.

I recommend the books and hope the publisher adds more titles soon.

A realistic 18th cent. seafaring story
A reader will almost feel the waves washing over the ship during a hurricane, hear the roar of the broadsides, and mingle with the boarders in the sea battles in this realistic depiction of an American privateer prowling the Atlantic during the revolutionary war. And there is much more. The author does a very good job in describing the characters, especially Geoffrey Frost the captain of the Audacity. I found the dialogue very interesting. The crew speak in what might be called colonial New England and express a good deal of colonial horse sense. Every sea adventure buff will enjoy this one.

A worthy sequel.
This is volume two in this series, which is set during the American Revolution and features a licensed privateer named Geoffrey Frost. It is every bit as exciting as volume one. Frost is a larger than life hero: learned, brave, and honorable. The sea battles are exciting and there's even a (peaceful) encounter with the explorer Cook.

Truely astounding book
This book sets about to explain the malaise and fall from power of Modern England. Starting at a period immeadiately prior to the end of the second world war it first shows how Modern England was the product of the aesthetic and cultural elites of the governing class. These classes held values which could be best described as a combination of socialism and wishy washy Christianity with an abbhorence of technology. It also shows how the working classes of England were exploited at the time of the industrial revolution with the resultant social consequences. I found this book at an airport lobby and was unable to put it down till finished. This book is well worth the effort reading.

The conquences of the British desease on WWII production
The books starts off slow but after a chapter or two becomes much more interesting. The Germans built planes for 30% of the manhours the English required. They did this because of the differences in the social contract and the education system. Read this book to understand what we are doing wrong and what we do right. I came away with more respect for M. Thacher and the changes she is made to England and an better understanding for the strong points and weak points of our society.

I wonder if anyone else has ever read this book?

I definately recommend this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about going into show business. It gives the little details that you might not find many other places. It tells you everything you will ever need to know. The interviews with the stars and their parents are great! Especially Shawn Toovey!

This book has interesting information about child stars.
If your dream is show business, read this book. Some child stars share thier acting expriences. The interviews are by some well-known child stars. My favorite interview I read was Paul Sutera ( Brady Bunch Movies}. It was one of the interesting Interviews in the book. I always been interested in his career. It also include interviews from Olivia Hack (Brady Bunch Movies), Angela Watson (Step by Step), and Shawn Toovey (Dr. Quinn,Medicine Woman). It also includes tips on everything you need on how to become an actor. I think kids will be interested in this book.

Bearded Dragon: Facts & Advice on Care and Breeding
This is a wonderful book for anyone who has recently acquired or are thinking of acquiring a bearded dragon. Whatever your questions are...this book has the answers. I recommend that this be the first book you purchase.

A great little book!
I happened across this gem in my local pet store the other week and have really taken a shine to it. The quality of the photographs is first class and the information is presented in a really easy to follow manner (as well as being very thorough). Although there are no earth-shattering revelations to be found between the covers, I heartily recommend this book to all Bearded Dragon owners- it's a definite 'keeper'!

A Must Read For Animal Lovers
A MUST READ FOR ANIMAL LOVERS! "Beaversprite" has boosted my inspiration to continue helping all animal life on this planet. Living only 20 minutes from the site of this sanctuary and being a wildlife rehabilitator I felt as though I was living this beautiful story of someone so very dedicated to the cause of God's other creatures on this earth. Dorothy Richards was a wonderful person with an unconditional love for not only the beavers but for all animals and nature. She has shown the world that one person can make a difference to better this world and right a wrong done to living creatures. This is a very important book for both youngsters and adults. It teaches us to respect animals and nature and to appreciate them. Dorothy Richards demonstrated that humans and animals can co-exist in a beautiful world together and that the animals have a lot to teach us humans! She describes in detail the vast intelligence of the beavers showing us that humans are not the only living creatures on this earth capable of intelligence, love and emotions. This is one of the best books I've read and recommend it for all!

A MUST READ for nature/animal lovers! A rare & true story.
"Beaversprite" changed forever the way I regard beavers. This amazing book describes the life of Dorothy Richards and the beavers who lived in the sanctuary she established around her home at the south end of the Adirondak National Park. The photographs in the book of Mrs. Richards and the beavers are guaranteed to thrill all readers, old and young -- animal lovers or not. Mrs. Richards did not begin life as an animal protector. Rather, it was after agreeing to allow the release of a pair of beavers onto her property, and spending some time watching them, that she realized how complex and fascinating is the life of beavers. Mrs. Richards changed from disinterested observer, to guardian and protector of these critical members of our ecosystem. She established the Beaversprite sanctuary and spent the rest of her life fighting to save beavers from extinction. They were all but gone from the northeastern US due to hunting for their fur, and still struggle to stay alive. This is an important book for youngsters of any age, as well as adults. It teaches children to respect animals and nature. I have given many copies as gifts to children and they have all thrilled to read the story of Mrs. Richards, and to see the pictures of her sitting by the pond with beavers cuddled in her lap. This wonderful book demonstrates that we can learn to co-exist with our animal neighbors. This book should be part of every child's library.

Not exactly relativism
Philips' account of intuitionism shows its holes and explains why many of us are unsatisfied using it as a basis for ethics. From that point we move to a very rational and common sense way of dealing with ethics that has some basis in everyday life. ESA bases itself on a combination of social, biological and psychological needs to create things that are "Good" for humans and a way to judge values between societies. A must read for anyone serious about ethics and unhappy with traditional intuitionist or absolute accounts.

Hold your questions until Chapter 6...
...at least that's what Professor Philips always tells our ethics class whenever someone asks him to define "reasonably valued ways of life," for instance.

BG review
The Bhagavad Gita as it is, by Sri AC Bhakthi Vedanta Swami Prabhupada, is the only book in the world, which is written by a devotee of Lord Krishna. Also, the author is from the line of disciplic succession from Lord Krishna. So, this BG spcifically, reveals the exact purpose of the original author(Lord Krishna), why it has been told to Arjuna. This BG name itself is "As It Is". That means, there is no interpretations on the original meaning for the verses. Also, the author practically followed the instructions of Gita, before writing this book. So, it's highly recommended to read this book.

The Best among the Best
"Bhagwad Gita As it is" IS probably the only complete book on the Gita, because it is "as it is" said by the Lord, it also has the perfect internal details derived from the shastras. A.C Bhakthivedanta Swami Prabhupada is a Great Scholar, Great devotee and a Great Guru - only such an elevated, enlightened Soul can do such GREAT work.

It contains no personal perceptions, no interpretations, no misleading anologies, no ego, no unwanted comparisions to irrelevant objects.

It is direct, simple, perfect, detailed and "as it is". Most of the times it leaves the reader spell bound, excited with the details, providing complete clarity and understanding.

All Glories to the Great Srila A.C Bhakthivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Kids Like Big Bangs
I'm a grandmother who bought this book for my granddaughter. I picked this one because it was the first one of the Itsy books I encountered. First I read it to be sure it was not too difficult. Then my husband read it.

We agreed it would give our granddaughter a leg up by letting her know she can handle science without being afraid. Kids need more stuff like this and less TV.

Any Kid Can Understand This
I've read all eight books in the "As Dreamed by Itsy" series to my 5 and 7 year olds. They're wonderful, all eight of them, so when you look at the others, you'll find this same review for all eight.
