Great Book for an Overview of the Holocaust
This book is basically the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in book form. Full of powerful images and photos, plus condensed history of every major issue or event that took place in the holocaust, this is a wonderful book for general history on the holocaust. Well worth the investment.

A powerful introduction to the Holocaust
This book, published by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, is the museum in book form. Filled with hundreds of photos and illustrations, some of them quite graphic, along with short but descriptive and informative written pieces on everything one would need to know about the holocaust from beginning to end, the book does a quality job of introducing the subject to the reader.

This is not a scholarly text that those looking for historical detail would find useful. It is rather, a "coffee table" type book, and a very moving overview of the holocaust.

Riveting, moving, emotional, and gripping are all apt descriptives of the book. Well recommended for anyone needing the necessary information and knowledge of one of the ugliest times in history. At the quoted price, a great deal!

dispences the most information I've seen
This is a wonderful learning tool for people just begining to take interest in the holocaust as well for those who are well educated in its matters. The photogaphs are haunting but extremely well taken and truthful. The author, Michael Berenbaum, captured the truth behind the unhuman treatment the Jews recieved throughout the history of the holocaust.I reccomend you read this book because it is difficult to forget it's contents.

A Gift of Love
As I began reading this book, I was struck immediately by what it told me about my own search for my home, both physically and spiritually. If the reader applies Vishu's philosophy of Archetype Design to her spiritual practice as well as building the perfect home, what a wonderful life would be guaranteed.

Archetype Design
Vishu Magee has presented the mystical achetypes of Carl Jung in a most readable and understandable fashion. His presentation develops the archetype themes inherent in us all as spiritual beings and demonstrates how we can incorporate those archtypes in the design of our living spaces. Magee explains how we can make our house a vehicle for spiritual growth. He goes beyond simply explaining how these archetypes operate in our lives and everyday experiences. He explains how we and those around us are driven by the archtypes in everyday life and why it is important that we become aware of their existence and influence in our psyche, especially how they manifest in our lives - both outer and inner. Magee includes in the book a comprehensive planning guide that covers every aspect of creating a total environment for interfacing individual, family and community. This is truly a great contribution to spiritual, peronsal and architectural literature.

A spiritualistic tool for your home and your life.
Being the printer of Archetype Design, I have shared this wonderful book with prospective clients for its style and quality. To my delight I am finding they are not just reviewing its physical appearance but reading it for the spiritual content. Vishu is a spiritual guide leading us back to the days of a "Happy Home" and directing us into the future of a home for uplifting the spirit.

great self-help, dog is optional
I bought this little book on a whim for a friend as a Christmas stocking stuffer, read it, and immediately ordered more as high school graduation gifts. The well-drawn cartoons are matched with profound "truths" which any parent of a teenager has tried to say one time or another. From 'Seize the Day' to 'Think Big' to 'Dream With Your Feet Moving' to 'Come Home' this book is absolutely marvelous.

Best self-help around, dog is optional
I bought this sight unseen as a Christmas stocking stuffer for a dog lover, read it, then ordered more to send to young people I know who seem somewhat lost, as high school grad presents. Seize the Day, Be Honest, Keep Your Eye on the Ball, Don't Settle for Mush, are only a few chapters in this very short "book" which is well-done cartoon illustrating very-well-written statements which we try to make as parents.

The truth in this book will bring a smile to your face.
For those of you that have a special connection with your fur friend this book is a gem. I take it with me when I travel near and far along with a picture of my sweet boy to keep me connected to my sacred space that I call home.

I love this book! Incredible art, amazing women!
I love this book. An awesome testimony to the power of the women who have contributed. The art is beautifully poignant, moving, meaningful. I have never had breast cancer, but know and love many women who have (I am an oncologist) and I think this book is an amazing example of the incredible strength, courage, humor and insight of the women who had the guts and grace to not only create the visual and written images but to publish them for all to see. I have shown this book to everyone I can find--the medical students, doctors, nurses and social workers with whom I work at the Massey Cancer Center at VCU in Richmond--I have promised one of my patients to show it to her the next time she is in the clinic. It is so inspiring. Don't even ask me which pieces are my favorites! I love this book!

inspiring and awakening
this book is great for people who want an inside look at how women with breast cancer feel and the many ways they express it through art.

As Ever Booky

Fantastic-a can't put down book
I read the Booky Trilogy and I was so impressed by it, that I E-mailed Sullivan Entertainment (Anne of Green Gables, Road to Avonlea) asking if they would make a television series about the book. There are so many story possibilities for a TV show that the Booky character could provide. It is even better that the story is based on the writer's real life.

As a lifelong resident of Toronto I enjoyed reading about life in Toronto during the 1930's. I loved the many historical clips interspersed throughout the book, like the shoes sold in the Eaton's catalogue. The book also shows readers that you don't have to have alot of money to have fun. I look forward to more books that continue Booky's story.

Very realistic and interesting
I really enjoyed your book Bernice. I read all the booky books about 5 times. I felt so bad when I heard that the turn down from L.M Montgomery had really happened. When I was told you had moved to scarborough I was dissapointed. Because I wanted to meet you so very badly. The book I enjoyed most was "That Scatterbrain Booky" I enjoyed that one because it told me very much about the "1930's" My grandma grew up during the depresion so she explained to me what a "Hoop and Stick" was. They sound very fun and difficult also.

Growing up is hard to do!
Fun-loving, adorable Booky is growing up. She is being swept off her feet by handsome suitors and having a ball at the same time. Booky is achieving some of her dreams and learning to accept her failures. Then...the world war threatens her now stable life and reality as she knows it

Excellent! Informative! A great reference tool!
This little, almost handsize book is a great reference tool for anyone that is a reeanctor or learning about soldier life and the rules of it. Completed in 1864, this book covers all camp duties, responsibilities, allowances, etc.. It simply covers privates, cavalry and officer roles and promotion procedures. I can't think of a better reference tool for a job description-like guide.

Since this book was written in the Civil War era, it is interesting to read things like, "In cases of 'excessive fatigue' or 'severe exposure', soldiers may receive one issue of whiskey of one gill per ration.

It simply doesn't get better for direct information about the Union army rules by the government. Besides being a great reference, this book can be quite entertaining as my previous paragraphed explained. ENJOY! 5 STARS!

Handy book
This reprint of the 1865 Customs of Service is a great tool for researchers, re-enactors, or anyone who is interested in the way things were in the mid-1800 Army. Printed from the 2nd edition, it includes plenty of topics of interest.

The 1865 Customs of Service for NCOs and Soldiers
Great idea to reprint this 1865 manual for the rank and file of the Civil War. I just purchased a copy and you won't be disappointed. The publisher's promise of the book being indispensable to historians and reenactors is dead accurate. As a reenactor it is refreshing to have a manual that details other aspects of the soldiers life and responsibilities beyond "The Manual of Arms"/School of the Soldier. The detailed descriptions and measurements will aid in enhancing a more accurate portrayal of the NCO or enlisted man and will give living history organizations new information to better educate and entertain the masses.

Don't buy it for elementary or intermediate level
As a reference for thorny grammar questions from advanced students, it's fine but as a classroom book, it's too detailed and too advanced. I have a copy but I rarely use it - the Intermediate and my ol' favorite, Beginning Grammar in Use are usually better suited for my lessons.

Excellent!
Improving your grammatical skills may be very important for several reasons, one of which is to foster your overall language competence. The primary strength of this book is the fact it cotains both lucid explanations and numerous exercises to check your comprehension. In order to ensure understanding, simple explanations of rather advanced elements of grammar have been provided. By the time you master this book, you will have dramatically improved your grammatical skills. I guarantee that! Are you unsure when to use the past perfect vs past simple? What about the proper use of auxiliaries and modal verbs? Pronouns and prepositions? Gerunds and participles? Word order? Definitely a valuable book.

what a book!
it is just very very useful book for people who study english as a second languge. perfect , orgnized , and useful.

Superb criticism.
This important study is highly astute in its analysis--and very accessible. Ratcliffe is a first-rate thinker and writer.

A wonderful book
Three great geniuses are presented here. Where would we be without the unbelievably courageous Mary Daly? And Virginia Woolf is still an important early voice, especially as presented by Jane Marcus and other brilliant radicals. As for Rich, is there a more brilliant writer in "America" today? I think not.

magnificent
This book dares to include three of the very greatest writers of the century. Mary Daly is the incredibly courageous voice of contemporary radical feminism, Woolf is still valuable for her essays, and Adrienne Rich is a truly visionary poet who has changed the way contemporary discourse is conducted. A wonderful book.

I wanna go there.
I have read it, and has some neat stories about flying in the bush. Which is where my wife and I plan to make it some day.
Good reading!

Appreciative student
I had the pleasure of attaining a lifetime dream of learning to fly an airplane. I didn't immediately appreciate my good fortune to be led step-by-step through the process by my instructor, Jim Anderson. As I played the unintentional role of test pilot, stretching the limits of the plane, my instructor kept a very cool head, showed tremendous patience and provided life saving tips to enable me to become a pretty good private pilot. I always wondered how Jim could maintain such a relaxed presence with every new danger I provided. I had heard bits and pieces of his flying past - from naval aviator during WWII to pioneer in the Arctic. I have thouroughly enjoyed filling in the blanks by reading this book. Jim is every bit the hero that the book portrays. And more than that, he has the highest level of honesty and integrity (tested in aviation and elsewhere) of any person I have encountered. I recommend this book without reservation.

Great book on the Alaskan Bush
Having been a pilot in Alaska for 25 years and having been lucky enough to be taught to fly by James "Andy" Anderson it was hard for me to put this book down until I was through. Once you realize how unassuming Andy is you really appreciate the experiences he has been fortunate enough to have had in a very unique place and time. His unbelievable skill has been finely tuned by many years of daily flying only a few can appreciate. I highly reccommend it to pilots and non-pilots alike. He is truly a ledgend on the Koyukuk River and Brooks Range area of Alaska.

Food for thought
The original of this piece "As A Man Thinketh" is a profound piece, but distinctly marred from a female point of view by the inextricably male casting of the reader. This book is a much easier to take read for me and I think for most women (though it would be as irritating for most men as the original was for most women). It is somewhat more subtly marred by the occassional misuse of a gender term - I.e. "womanly" does not substitute straight for "manly" in most usage without making the resultant sentence rather odd.

Other than this quibble, it is an excellent book and one I would recommend to anyone as nourishing food to feed your mental life.

Portable Pearls of Wisdom
This book goes with me nearly everywhere. I'd read it several years ago and it was helpful in getting me to get outside myself, and change my attitude a bit (oh, what a helpless victim of circumstance and other people's actions I'd been!)

Later, I ordered up several copies to hand out. When I was an executive, other women would sometimes come to me with complaints about who did this to them, and why they were helpless to change. Everything I suggested had a 'Yeah, but...' attached to it. Before I hit my mid-40's, I was caught in the drama, feeling responsible and depressed by their circumstnaces.

Then I started handing out copies of the book. I'm sure many thought I was nuts, but a couple have actually gotten the message.

I'm not a tough-minded broad, but a bleeding heart liberal who finally realized you can help a fellow working-woman to grow not by solving her problems, but by supporting her as she learns she can do it herself.

The language in the book (really a booklet) is based on "As A Man Thinketh", but altered just slightly for women. It is invigorating to realize that what is true for the gander is true for the goose.

Don't be put off by the style - "Woman is buffetted by circumstances so long as she believes herself to be the creature of outside conditions, but when she realizes that she is a creative power, and that she may command the hidden soil and sees of her being out of which circumstances grow, she then becomes the rightful master of herself."

Oh yes! So, here's the message - what you think and do greatly affects what happens to you. You aren't the victim you think you are, so move on!

"As A Man Thinketh" and "As I Think" are also available.

I recommend this book to every person out there.
This book has added a lot of richness and inspiration to my relationship with God. It is true that if one thinks negatively all the time nothing good will come out of his/her but if one thinks positively everything he/she does will yeild good results: this book makes it perferct and simple to grasp the concept. I will recommend "As a man thinketh" to everyone who is willing to improve upon their thinking process. I also believe that we are what we think. You will not regret spending money on it. I bought one for my husband and I keep mine in my purse for easy access and reference. God bless you.
