A welcome affirmation for female gun ownersReview Date: 2000-12-20
The authors of this book state they hope to "open up the conversation about women and guns in America." From my perspective as a female gun owner and avid participant in the shooting sports, such conversation is desperately needed. I found this book a valuable source of information and support on several fronts. First, it provided insight to the thoughts and beliefs of those people who react with shock and dismay to the discovery that I actually own a gun. Second, it provided some hard facts with which intelligent responses can be made to the disparaging comments of those same people. Third, and perhaps most importantly, I discovered that many more women than I expected share my love for the shooting sports.
I highly recommend this book to any woman who owns a gun and participates in any of the shooting sports. It is also an excellent source of information for anyone who is interested in learning about what motivates females to become "Gun Women."

An Honest Review of a Dedicated, but Dishonest MarineReview Date: 1997-12-24
This book is an honest review of a controversial Iran-Contra figure destined to stir controversy in the psyche of the American
public. The development of North's character, from his midshipman years at the Naval Academy, his years as a Marine platoon
leader in Vietnam, to the events leading up to his ascendancy into the public arena are well-explored. Helps in shedding
some insights into the white lies, and self-justification of a man who seeks to cover up his past shortcomings to this day.
I am under no illusions that LTC North was a competent, and dedicated Marine, but his dishonesty troubles me deeply. Let's
hope that the Colonel maintain what little integrity and honesty he has, after what is said about him by others.

Hagan is the greatest ghost town ever...and this is a map of it.Review Date: 2005-10-07
La Madera is the greatest dirt road of all time. (At least it was until someone started sneakily paving small sections of it. Where will this end?)
Along La Madera Road, there are all kinds of amazing ghost towns: Hagan (this map's namesake), Tejon (an old Spanish town with an unbelievable history), Coyote, Tonque (a brick factory), Una de Gato, and La Madera itself. Nearby it is also the still inhabited Puertocito, and several ruins that may have never had names. There are two old cemetaries, thousands of arroyos, giant cottonwoods, a waterfall, gorgeous views, abandoned mines, tamarisk groves, and much more.
This map is a detailed key to all of them. It's got a dot for every ruin--though we've found several that aren't on here--and good topographic outlines for ever mesa and bluff.
If you like Hagan, get this map for sure. It's never out of print if you go right to the USGS.
