"The Art of Conversation: Dialogue at the Woodrow Wilson Center" is a compilation of twenty four favorite interviews presented in a neat, easy to read text format. The interviews cover various figures such as Robert McNamara, President Chissano, Bill Bradley and many, many more. Highly recommended to American history collections in general and any one who enjoys prime information right from the people themselves.

I found this book motivational and inspirational. The societywe live in today reflects the opinions and speeches of Mr. Havel. Iuse this book like a bible..He spoke many truths to our nation.His speech on "hate" was so true about the ideas and thoughts of the Human Race in this world...His tribute as a President to treat people with such dignity and honor..His speech in "Oslo" was refreshing and exhilirating..I applaud his humanitarism. One day I would love to meet and speak to him.

A concise reference book with listings for a wide variety of artists' auction records from numerous auction houses. Rather than list all works for a given year, this guide provides the hammer price in dollars, french francs and british pounds along with the auction details for one or a few representative records. It lists the number of works reported as sold next to the artist's name. Compared to other auction reference books this is very affordable and easier to carry around for on-site research. I keep mine with me and check it when I'm shopping at antique stores and retail galleries.

If you are intrested in how biological systems can be simulated via computer or in what contect computer programs or computer simulations can be called alive -- this is the book to read.

Eventhou the articials in this book are technical reports from a scientific conference most provide easy reading for the layperson.

Artificial Life is a fassinating scientific endevor that seeks to do for biology what Artificial Instelligence did for psychology -- model biological processes, instead of mental processes on the computer and look to biology as a model for computation -- using techniques such as Genetic Algorithms, Cellular Automata and Neural Networks.

I find that all the books I've read that were published by the Santa Fe Institute to be intresting -- how ever the Artifical Life series is the easiest for an armchair scientist to grasp.

I particularly liked this issue of the digest size sci-fi pulp because in his editorial, Isaac Asimov discusses my favorite author the late Robert A. Heinlein's book Grumbles From The Grave. Here's a brief quote: "I was astonished at the trouble that Heinlein seemed to have in connection with money and with the efforts of editors to force him to revise his novels. As the universally acknowledged master of the art of science fiction writing, it seemed to me that he should have had trouble in neither direction..." Of course there are also good stories by Charles Sheffield and others.

I bought this book with low expectations, but you just get carried awway about all the tournaments during the year. You can see Agassi, Courier, Sampras, Mac, Boris, Edberg, Lendel, and even Sergio Brugera come alive in this book. I became a loyal ATP fan after reading this.

Why can't there be more than 12 months in a year. This calendar is the perfect gift for Audrey fans. I can't wait to start the next month!

This colorful calendar and mobile made for a wonderful present. Not only are the photographs beautiful with interesting facts, but the cut out mobile was fun to put together. Definitely worth the money!

The Australian Dictionary of Biography is not a lightweight and is certainly not bedtime reading material. Not unless, that is, you are a fan of Australian history and the people who made it. In 14 hefty volumes, the lives of the more important figures in Australian history are narrated in around 2000-6000 words. In all, there are 14 volumes which are divided into chronological periods. Volumes 1 and 2 cover prominent personages from the years 1788-1850 (Australia was settled by the British in 1788); volumes3 to 6 cover the years 1851-1890; volumes 7 to 12 cover the years 1891-1939, and volumes 13 through to 16 will cover 1940-1980. I say will, because the publishing schedule is at present up to volume 14 of the intended 16 volumes. So, how does it rate? From this Australian reviewer's perspective, ADB is a truly monumental work which encapsulates the lives of Australian history, and by so doing, encapsulates the history of the largest island continent itself. As a large scale biographical project which began in 1957, this publishing work may be described as nothing less than a treasure trove for the researcher, scholar, or interested layman. As its publishers point out, ADB is not "a pantheon of immortals", but aims to "reflect the rich variety of Australian life by including representatives of almost every occupation - shearers, drovers, governesses, nurses, undertakers, marine engineers, bag-pipers, circus proprietors, axemen, trumpeters, ballroom dancers, murderers, bushrangers and confidence men." The Australian Dictionary of Biography is a truly great work in every sense of the word. If you are a reader who has a passion for Australian history and the people who made it, then this is for you, particularly if you are an academic, a researcher, or a long-term student in this arena. As an investment in Australian biographical history, it is a winner.
